Born in Ottery St Mary on November 6 of 2008, Cade Darkbound lives with his wealthy pureblood family. The Darkbounds are not your usual pureblood type. They live in a large cozy townhouse amongst the muggles. Blood superiority is not their main concern. Growing up this way, Cade learned from both the muggle and wizarding worlds. His father, Mr. Charles Darkbound is often abroad working for the Department of International Magic Cooperation. While his mother, Mrs. Peggy Darkbound works as a baker in her own shop. Life is quiet in the Darkbound residence. Cade’s days mostly consisted of primary school, reading, practicing bass, and looking after his little sister Astrid. Cade is soft-spoken and polite. He is an amiable introvert trying hard to break out of his shy nature. He loves to sketch, read, and play Gobstones.

Cade’s early years were grief-stricken ever since the tragic night his baby sister was bitten. Astrid has been inflicted with lycanthropy from a very early age and struggles with life knowing she’ll never get all the opportunities Cade will. Mrs. Darkbound is very protective of Astrid and only allows her outside for important events. The family keeps their chins up even with the knowledge that their youngest will never be the same. Cade tries to make Astrid feel included in any way he can. On the nights of the full moon, Astrid is sent away to a barn far away from town and must drink wolfsbane potion every day of that week. The neighbors know very little about Astrid’s lycanthropy. To them, she is almost always very ill. Peggy and Charles often discuss in private what will happen when Astrid inevitably gets her own Hogwarts letter.

When Cade received his acceptance letter he was keen on leaving his slow lifestyle behind. He would miss his family and home dearly but was eager to learn magic and become his own person. And Hogwarts being the prestigious school it is made him even more excited. Both his parents had told so many stories about their years at school. His father was a Slytherin duellist and his mother a proud Hufflepuff. Cade was surprised when he got into Ravenclaw. He was incredibly intrigued about the wit behind Ravenclaw. When he sat at the Ravenclaw table, the eagles welcomed him like a hero, and he felt that he had found a family beyond his own.

◍ VISAGEx Cade's lean build has finally caught up to his height. Proportionally he looks correct. Muscles have filled in his lanky arms and legs, giving some a glimpse of the man he will continue to grow into. Even his voice has suddenly betrayed him. It sounds gravelly at worst, and velvety at best. Cade has porcelain skin dotted with freckles from the past summers spent at camp. A mop of dark brown hair covers the majority of his head, stopping short of two intensely dark eyes. Reducio Faceclaim: Gage Gomez Out of the standard Ravenclaw uniform, Cade usually wears oversized cable-knit jumpers in cool tones of green or navy blue. He isn't too fussy with being on-trend and favors his leather boots of Doctor Martens and on a hotter day Chuck Taylors. Always he carries a satchel containing a good book and his art supplies. For now his curls are cropped short to his mother's liking, but if he had it his way, the ends might fall past his ears.

xPERSONA ◍ Cade has the mind of a theorist and the instincts of a lone explorer. Quietly brilliant and deliberately enigmatic, he prefers observation to conversation and notebooks to noise. Inadvertently becoming a world class active listener. He walks through Hogwarts like he's following an invisible thread, unraveling mysteries that most overlook. Though he's often a lone wolf, he's not above collaboration. He's creative, inquisitive, and cool under pressure. Reducio Type: INFP-A Often deemed as bookish and aloof, Cade is generally a loyal companion. He is somewhat boyish in quality seeking a rare streak of adventure and dumb sometimes reckless pranks. What sets him as a Ravenclaw is his knack for creativity and critical thinking. He often resides in his own dream world creating sketches of ideas and stories. Which on the outside looks like a stoic stone wall -not easily approachable- but all the same, he is happy to make new friends and find companionship.

FAMILY TREE ────────────────────

The Darkbounds are a lesser-known pureblood wizarding house of the British Isles, originally based in the borderlands between Scotland and northern England. Known for their reticent nature and longstanding reputation for their runic expertise, the Darkbounds have long lived on the fringes of power-- influential, but discreet. They are old, but cannot be considered overtly ostentatious. Their vaults are deep, their estates are secluded, and their family gatherings are more often than not somber affairs. A Darkbound coat of arms (depicting a crescent moon over a crumbling tower) is rarely displayed, even within the family. Their motto: "Non clamori, sed cineri" Not by outcry, but by ash, reflects their preference for quiet durability over spectacle.

During the rise of Gellert Grindelwald in the early 20th century, the Darkbounds were not at the forefront of his movement, but were philosophically adjacent to his ideas. In particular, older members of their line found Grindelwald's appeals to magic order appealing. One of Cade's ancestors, Septimus Darkbound, was known to have written theoretical treatises on magical sovereignty and non-wand-based dominance, later banned by the Ministry. Thankfully, the Darkbounds never went on trial after Grindelwald's fall, they had been too careful and peripheral. But their complicity was always part of the family record, whispered but rarely spoken aloud. This era left a deep unspoken shame upon the family. A shame they carry in the form of rigid self-control and generational distance.

After Grindelwald's defeat and the rise of Voldemort (whom the Darkbounds viewed as "too theatrical, too crass"), the family stepped back from overt political involvement. They did not align themselves with Death Eaters, instead remained staunchly traditional, particularly in maintaining the purity of their bloodline through isolation and arranged marriages. They were viewed as conservative but not extremist. Cold but not cruel. Toward the Ministry, their attitude remains distrustful and overly bureaucratic. Over time, however, with the decline of pureblood social dominance after the Second Wizarding War, their younger members began seeking more modern, individualistic paths.

Cade's generation represents a sharp turning point. His parents keep a softened but complex ideology. They raised their children with a strong sense of self-discipline and Cade is expected to excel quietly, not stand out. He's been encouraged to pursue worthy magical pursuits without sentimentalism. But there's a weight on his shoulders. How is he supposed to act boldly in a family trained to endure but not intervene?

────────────────────PROPERTIES ────────────────────

Tucked into the crags of the northern Pennines, near the border between Cumbria and Northumberland, Calverlock Hollow sits in a narrow valley where the mist never fully lifts. Its a place carved into its own solitude, shielded from muggle traffic by ancient wards that predate Ministry regulation. The manor can't be seen from any nearby road. Its not built above the land so much as within it, partly subterranean, half-swallowed by moor and stone, as if the earth intends to swallow it.

In Ottery St Mary, Wyrmrest House sits on a narrow, cobbled street between a disused apothecary and a hedge that never quite stops rustling. The Darkbounds have owned the property since the 18th century, though it has been renovated modestly over time. It stands three storeys tall, with a basement garden court, and bears no visible magical signage apart from Dusty, their house elf. This is the house Cade feels most at home, but never quite free.

◍ A FAMILIARx Bartles is not what anyone would call exceptional and that's precisely why Cade loves him. In the years since the first met in that straw smelling corner of the Magical Menagerie, Bartles has grown slightly pudgier, slightly greener, and no more intelligent than he was the day Cade picked him up. He still blinks out of sync, still forgets he's being held mid-hop, and licks his own eye with alarming frequency. To most, he seems more like a misplaced mossy rock than a living creature. But to Cade? Bartles is reliable, low maintenance, and utterly himself. Cade never meant for Bartles to become a companion in study, but somehow, the toad always ends up nearby when he's working. He'll perch on a warm book, droop half-asleep on a piece of parchment, or stare unblinkingly at the glow of Cade's reading lamp. Sometimes Cade talks to him. In the kind of quiet muttering that fills the air between thoughts. "Should I use Laguz here or Berkano...? You're no help, Bartles." Bartles: blinks in profound amphibian stillness "Right. Laguz it is."

xTHE BARTLES BREAKDOWN ◍ - Temperament: Oblivious, sluggish, deeply content. Bartles lives his best life at all times. - Favorite Spot: Curled on Cade's worn scarf near the window. - Biggest Vice: Tries to eat ink droplet stains and gets sick. Often. - Fear: None. Or, more accurately, he's too simple to recognize fear. Reducio When it rains, Bartles becomes frisky (by Bartles standards). He tries to escape the common room in search of puddles, which has resulted in several late-night adventures where Cade has to retrieve him from increasingly strange places. Bartles isn't majestic, he isn't clever. But he's present. And for a boy like Cade, that matters.
