The sun shone brightly on the grassy land, birds and other odd magical things were chirping wildly, bugs were buzzing. There was a sense of liveliness in the air, something that made those out there want to go and do things. The place was like a haven away from everything and it gave the students of Hogwarts a must needed time to relax, days with a sea full of activities and you could still find time for peace.

Alec wasn't outside, far from it. Even as he was surrounded by grassy woodsy area, a shame to not take in the sight. Alec was inside the Augurey cabin. The sun may have shone brightly, but the thirteen-year-old Gryffindor couldn't see it. He laid on the his bed, sighing in the dramatic way only teenagers could. The pitter-pattering of what was supposed to sound like peaceful "rain" was enough to drive a perfectly sane man crazy. Alec liked the rain, just not this way, not all the time. It sounded nice enough at first but his regrets were very clear.

Alec grabbed his pillow pulling it over his head in attempts to get the rainy noise to be quiet, it didn't work. As it turns out, Alec needed to find ways to occupy himself. Otherwise the child was going to be stuck dramatically laying on his bottom part of the bunk-bed all day. Alec was procrastinating as if even coming up with an activity was hard, too much work. It was boring, Alec didn't like it. He also refused to admit he was the bored one is this situation. It was just everything else around him was boring. Only boring people get bored. Sure, his thoughts could keep him entertained, there was nothing exciting about that at all though. Before anyone else could make accusations otherwise, Alec was planning to excuse himself and find something to do.

Alec was only saved from laying in such boredom when he'd found Cade. Alec's mood went upwards in such a drastic rate that healers would be worried. There was no moping around Cade. Cade was awesome. Therefore with this logic they needed to do something awesome, because Alec was allowed too be bored. Which is what ended them up in the situation they where in now, Alec running to the cabin too grab his things, supplies for sketching, and the two of them started too walk. Alec had forgotten one of his most important items too bring around with him, the joke jar, because why not, but it was fine, they were random anyway, Alec could come up with things on the fly.

They walked for a bit longer before finding a separate area, far away enough from the open areas of the campground. Alec looked Cade's way as he started too his messenger bag down. in it all Alec's supplies. “We should make a game out of this,” Alec suggested all too suddenly. “Sketch and pass?” Alec suggested he rubbed the back of his neck trying to think of other ideas. “We could challenge each other too draw the obscure items far away and see how accurately the details can be done. I was thinking of sketching the same thing also and comparing styles if you want-” Alec suggested as well, rambling on.

There was the peaceful quiet nature, and then there was Alec and Cade. Maybe they ruined the setting a bit, the birds sure didn't seem too be chirping too loudly, or at least not as loud as the rain had been, which when you think of it sounded a little like a bird pecking on the roof except louder.

It was a beautiful day and Cade did his best to enjoy it outdoors. He was doing his best to forget the tragedy that took place in the forbidden forest only a week before. Looking past all that he would sit up in a taller tree and survey the grounds and admire the far-off castle towers. It was only a few more weeks before his second year at school would begin. And to be quite frank, Cade wasn't particularly looking forward to resuming classes. He rather liked the open feeling of not following a specific schedule. Though it was true he missed his friends and the Mystical Creatures club. That itself reminded him he had to start thinking about activities for the meetings.

As Cade's eyes flitted over the grounds he spotted a familiar flop of brown hair bouncing about the campgrounds. Cade's heart lifted a meter as his bunkmate approached. And with a great jump, Cade bounded off the branch he'd been perched on the land in front of Alec. "Boo! Did I scare you?" A playful grin stretched out on the young Ravenclaw's face. Of course, Alec knew he would be here. They had planned a sketching trip ages ago. And Cade had been excited to get his mind off of darker things.

They found a patch of dry grass and settled down. Cade dug through his rucksack for his art supplies, bobbing his head as Alec started shooting off suggestions. "Sketch and pass sounds good." He agreed, preferring that option over the distance drawing. Cade was somewhat near sided so he wouldn't be particularly great at drawing small details. "How about every three minutes we trade sketchbooks?" Cade leaned back on the trunk of a tree and immediately started imagining a creature from his head. Starting off with a set of goat horns. Quickly he drew out the form with a charcoal pencil.

"What did the bored goat say, Alec?" Cade paused for dramatic effect and his brown eyes glanced over at his friend. After a while, Cade provided the answer. "Meh," He bleated with a chuckle.

The nature of a sketching trip was light-hearted, it aimed for everything Alec needed. Cade seemed to love it as well. Sketching helped Alec with reflection, but of the smaller things, keeping his mind off the larger things. The especially big things and the problems Alec had no control over. He'd been excited, if not just it being hanging out with Cade more, but also the sketching part. It was odd for Alec to happen upon people who would approach him when he took the more quiet standing or approach to things. Maybe Cade recognized that, or maybe Alec was overthinking things. Cade seemed like a very genuine person. The traits he'd first showed when they'd met the first day of summer camp sparked an interest. Alec had to get to know Cade better for... Uh... The Greater good of the world! Yes! No personal curiosity with him, of course not. Fate had intended it, Alec was following the rules. What person wouldn't? If fate had allowed them to see someone so fun, who would deny the chance to get to know them? Fate did funny things of course, fate could be saved for certain situations. Fate was fate, but it shouldn't feel permanent, as if it couldn't be changed because it was fate.

Alec moved to take a seat on the grass, taking a moment to look out at everything around him. It was nice he'd concluded. At least better than those rain sounds. Who decided it was a good idea to have it sound like it was raining at every hour. If it was a trick, it worked, and it worked almost too well. Alec didn't know if he'd be able to fall asleep to the sounds of rain that night. It was hard to believe how truly annoying it could become. It had been nice at first, until it wasn't anymore. He'd found he was too focused on this too actually have started at what he was supposed to be doing and stared down at his supplies aimlessly for a moment, trying to decide where too start.

There may have been a blockage in ideas for a few seconds, though this passed quickly enough to not cause himself any concern. With the scenery, Alec had more exotic things in mind. It was woodsy, therefore, what better to draw then a fire breathing dragon! The woods part wasn't thought through clearly enough, because if it were in the woods it cause a forest fire, but luckily that wasn't the epic landscape Alec was going for. Dragon cave in the mountains. Did dragons even actually live in the mountains? Or in caves at least, he was getting a little confused, he sometimes mixed up the mention of muggle books from people and the actual facts. Maybe it didn't matter if in the end it sounded cooler, but if there was a test on dragons it would've hindered Alec's scores.

Alec started to work on the outline, he wouldn't worry about the finer details as long as the basic ideas of the dragon and the mountain-ish cave landscape. Getting those basic ideas down quickly Alec looked up as Cade spoke, acknowledging Cade speaking to him, and looking rather curious to the answer of the joke. He chuckled after, setting his things to the side for a moment. “That was good, but did you hear the one about the dragon? It just seemed to drag-on.” Alec smiled a sheepish grin, starting to finish up more of the bare necessities for what he was doing.

After sometime, which had felt far too long to Alec, but had likely only been a mere amount of thirty seconds, Alec looked up once more. “Has it been three minutes? I haven't been keeping track.” Maybe Cade had? Otherwise, they could just assume and move on. For Alec it was hard to keep track of time and still do other things.
