Personality: Octavia is not nice. She keeps to herself, and looks at everyone as though they are bellow her. She thinks she is better then most as she is a pure blood, and has a sour taste about muggles and muggle-borns. She is more leanit if they are wizard-born. Or if there parents are not muggles, or direct descents of them. She keeps her friends close, if she can make them. Octavia can be quite selective on who she lets in her inner circle.

Is your character a Broom Racer? no.Born on January 1st 2012, She is from a long line of wizards, pure bloods. Who date back to a long time. The Brooks are a respected name, The brooks have plenty of money, and there kids live a very, very comfortable lifestyle. She was born and spent the first three years of her life in the United States, it was soon after her third birthday that her family took a trip to Japan, to be with her fathers sister. As her wife had just passed away, and she needed all the help she could get. It just so happened that this was where Octavia had shown her first magic. It would have been just the same day they got there. She was in the room with her family, It was rather simple, but she sneezed and all that came out was bubbles. That helped cheer up her aunt a little, and it was proof that she was a wizard.
As she has preformed her first instance of magic in Japan, she would be going to Mahoutokoro unlike her parents. And most of her family. This was fine by her, and her parents. She would be needed to live in Japan to be able to attend Mahoutokoro, So she would stay with her aunt, living with her from the age's three and up. Her aunt liked the compony after her wife had passed. And she still spent time with her parents, as she visited once or twice a month until schooling, her parents also took frequent visits to see her. She did miss her parents sometimes but the visits helped out a lot. Even if they were not her primary caretakers. She still saw them as her parents, and her aunt as her aunt.
Her aunt had the same thoughts as the rest of her family, about muggle-borns, muggles, and squibs. (Though she was much nicer then Octavia). So she grew up all around blood-purists. With all the time she spent with her aunt, She also learned about what she dose as a job. That being a quidditch coach. She fell in love with the sport.
Along with that, she wanted to play the position that her aunt played. Chaser, She really wanted to make her aunt, and parents proud, and be successful in school. She knew she would be able to, she did not get distracted by many things. And was driven by the will to succeed. In quidditch and her studies. She will stay living with her aunt all throughout her school, and go to Mahoutokoro. Learning Japanese as she grew up. Now she is quite good at it.

Pending - If she returned to the US and experienced another bit of magic, as children are wont to do, then she'd be able to attend Ilvermorny. Students aren't required to attend the school where they first ever experience magic, otherwise we'd not be able to have immigrant children attend other schools. It is fine for her to attend Mahoutokoro as an American citizen but she does need to live in Japan permanently. Magdalena 2 Oct

Mahoutokoro NPC
Name: Mateo Yamamoto
School: Mahoutokoro
Year: first
Status: Pureblood
Appearance:
Mateo has short straight black hair, paleish fair skin, and black eyes. He looks mostly Japanese, but he also has some features that tend to make him look Spanish, but can't be clearly seen.
Personality:ReducioAt first, Mateo is pretty shy and quiet, but when he warms up to someone, he can actually be very energetic. He tends to not get mad easily, and has a passion for Quidditch. Besides having a passion for Quidditch, he's also open to making new friends that doesn't have a passion for Quidditch. He can also have a double personality at times, depends on how he's feeling. And even tho he's a pureblood, he'll be open to getting to know half-blood's, wizard borns, and muggle-born's. He can also be helpful as well and would love to help anyone with anything. It's also very easy for Mateo to warm up to someone, and he'll trust anyone and everyone.
History:ReducioMateo Yamamoto is the son of Shota Yamamoto and Esmeralda Yamamoto (ne Soto). Mateo is a pureblood born on February 5, 2012, in Yokohama. Mateo is an only child and doesn't have any cousins since both of his parents are only childs as well. While growing up, Mateo was always a fan of Quidditch and also loved Magical Creatures, since his parents are both famous Quidditch players, they taught him how to fly at such a young age.
While being raised in Yokohama, Mateo was educated in the wizarding world of Japan and Spain and was also educated about all the wizarding schools that existed in the world. Mateo was fascinated by all the different types of magic in the world.
At age 5, Mateo received his first instance of magic. He was happily riding on the broom that his parents had bought for him, and he accidentally went too high. He tried to stop and go back to the ground, but while he was doing that, he bumped into a tree. From the impact of bumping into a tree at full speed, Mateo was sent flying. He was afraid that he was gonna fall so he closed his eyes tight and waited to hit the ground, but he didn't. He slowly opened his eyes and noticed that he was standing on his feet and safely on the ground. Mateo then looked at his broken broom and frowned since he had broken his very first broom. Mateo then went inside of the house and told his parents about what had happened. His parents were happy that he had received his first instance of magic, but they weren't happy about him breaking his broom.
When he turned 7, he received an invitation to the Day Program that Mahoutokoro for Mateo to attend, and he really wanted to go, but his parents decided to homeschool him instead, which he was fine with and didn't argue about it either. But, there was another reason why, his parents, at the time, weren't sure which school they'll be sending him to, and if they decided not to have him attend Mahoutokoro, they were worried he wouldn't want to leave the school.
When Mateo turned 11, he still wasn't sure what school he'd be going to since his parents didn't tell him, but if Mateo was able to choose, he'd want to stay in Japan and go to Mahoutokoro even tho he could speak Spanish, but he didn't want to go too far away from home. On Mateo's 11th birthday, his mother told him that he'd be going to Mahoutokoro which made Mateo very happy.

Abilities: Sixth Sense (450 words):
ReducioBefore Mateo had received his first instance of magic, the young Japanese boy was somewhat able to sense, or see things, that other's couldn't, but he never noticed this at first. The only time he did notice was while he was flying one day. He was 6 at the time, so a year after he had received his first instance of magic, and well, while he was flying, on a spare broom that he had at home, he heard some people shouting, probably from playing Quidditch, and before one of them told him to look out, he had successfully avoided getting hit.
It shocked him quite a bit, so after he went home from his little flying adventure, he told his parents, who were as shocked as he was, but told him that there was nothing he needed to worry about, because, well, he was kind of worrying that there was something happening with him, even though he's a pureblood.
At the time, Mateo also had a few friends who had also all gotten their first instances of magic, around the same time as he did, so he decided to tell them about it, but like his parents, they were also shocked, but told him that it'll be a good thing.
Another time when this sensing thingy happened, was when he was walking home from hanging out with his friends one day. They had decided to go look at the Cherry Blossom trees, since they had just blossomed, and Mateo was 9 at this time.
While he was walking home, Mateo wasn't exactly checking his surroundings, since he thought it was a quite street that he was walking along, but sadly, someone had seen him, and they decided to follow him, so he started running, as fast as he could, before the person was even close enough to make their presence known, but Mateo didn't think that this one was weird, he just thought he was lucky enough not to get kidnapped and was also lucky with what his parents had taught him to do if he were walking home alone, so he decided it'd be best to fly home from now on.
Lucky for him, whenever he flew home, nothing happened, but one day he was playing in his backyard, and well, he had threw a ball too high and it had went over the fence, so he went to go get it by climbing over the fence, and after he had gotten the ball, as he was about to climb over the fence again, he felt a strange feeling, like as if someone was watching him, but decided to shrug it off, but someone indeed was watching him.

A couple of things:
1. Can you please expand the personality some more? We are looking for a paragraph
2. Abilities are not literal special abilities in-character, they are an out-of-character way to describe and define specialties of characters. Can you please amend your sixth sense ability to reflect this? Mateo would have the ability to see more than others, and have something of a sixth sense, but he would not be described has having a literal ability called 'sixth sense'.
Pending 20 March 2024, Magdalena
Hi Tracey, the abilities aren't literal abilities. There is nothing that could really be described as an ability. He can be described as a little bit special, but the way abilities work on site is that they are abstractions of how characters are. For example, someone who is 'Obnoxiously Strong' does not have a special ability in character to describe their strength, they're just a big guy with big muscles.
PENDING - Marcus, April 2
DEADLINE FOR EDITS: April 15
The school lore reads "After a child displays their first sign of magic and reaches the age of seven, they are invited to the school's day program - a chance to start their education before a time of boarding" but you do not mention your character receiving this invitation at age 7. Please include why your character did not attend the day school.
"his parents also taught him some spells, and once he got his wand he began to practice the spells he was taught." This part of your history suggests your character was performing spells under the guidance of his parents before his official education. Please remove the part where your character's parents are teaching him spells. Students shouldn't be learning how to perform spells before their schooling education.
As Magdalena pointed out, your ability application needs some work. You've currently written that "felt he could see things others didn't and he found that he was very good at reading people, but he wasn't sure why he was like this" and that "this feeling or sensing things that others couldn't was magic." The abilities on site are not necessarily magical abilities, sometimes they are just traits that your character has. In this case, Sixth Sense is a trait your character has that means they are more aware of things than the average person. Please remove mention of this ability being magical. Please include an example of your character noticing things, rather than just having dialogues with people. Using dialogue to fill the word count in this case doesn't help accomplish the ability application. If you need further guidance on this, you can owl back and forth with questions.

Upon arriving at Mahoutokoro, she took it upon herself to never make anyone feel the way she did at home. Ever since she stepped foot in the school, knowing that she wouldn't be hearing her parents shouting and yelling, she felt instantly at ease. When Chiaki started to make friends at Mahoutokoro, she portrayed a happy and bubbly, yet somewhat soothing or calming exterior so her brain would not stray to her parents' fighting. Each of Chiaki's friends reported that they instantly felt calmer when they were around her. Any anger or built up pressure beneath the surface of them was relieved when they would even be simply near her. This attracted many new friends to her. As she quickly befriended two Quidditch players and followed them around like a puppy to their practices, she would be reported to put the team at ease, epecially before a big match. However, playing Quidditch was never much of Chiaki's interest. There was too much chaos, too many things happening at once. Broom racing was much more her style. There was only one clear objective, and that was to win. Even if that required a little bending of the rules. But before a race, they would never be so nervous as all the fliers that came before her would warn her about. Many would always around her before a race, trying to absorb some of the calm energy she released unknowingly. As soon as she would fly ahead, however, the calm they felt instantly begin to disappear. However, it was only truly noticeable when Mahoutokoro was the host of a spectularly large fight between several students. Chiaki wasn't aware of the violence occuring in the grounds, so she observed through a window what all the fuss and bother was about. Instead, she was horrified by the brutal punches and kicks that were being thrown. However, as soon as she appeared in person, the fighting died down. Rage could still be seen in the fighters' eyes, but they were no longer fighting. And Chiaki had managed to stop it. Everybody knew then that Chiaki's presence was... special. Something about the chaos and turbulence from her past meant that she was able to bring the sense of calm that was much needed by many students, and even some of the teachers on occasion.[/reducio] Cat's Grace: [reducio]Chiaki's ability to be stealthy came even before she was born. Her mother wasn't even aware she was pregnant with Chiaki until the second trimester, when she started showing symptoms. And then, even after birth, Chiaki had an innate ability to sneak around. She would regularly manage to escape the house when her parents were arguing, and arrive at her grandparents' via bus (that she had managed to sneak aboard). If her parents began to shout when she was in the room, she was easily able to sneak out (though due to the loud yelling it wasn't the most difficult). After her grandparents' tragic passing in a car accident, Chiaki found that she was no longer able to escape to theirs when things became loud and violent at home. As a result, every time her parents fought for three weeks, she would climb from her bedroom window and run around her small seaside town, looking for a place to hide. And she managed to get pretty far several times. She could easily slip ino buildings or sites that she didn't realise she couldn't be in, and then be gone just as quickly before anybody noticed. Some of her favourite hiding spots were tucked away in overgrown corners of old or run down buildings that she had no business being in, but was also never caught in. There had been one occassion that she thought that she needed to run, but when the guards appraoched, somehow she managed to get away undetected. That was the closest she'd been to serious trouble, but it didn't stop her from returning to that spot. This habit of sneaking about was just something that she couldn't shake when she arrived at Mahoutokoro. If noticed, people would comment how she skulked around like a cat in the background of almost every situation. Howeverhen she wasn't actively being her bubbly and cheerful self, she very easily blended into the background. Maybe it was because she was surprisingly short, or just wasn't the most noticeable when she wasn't speaking. This allowed her to get away with several midnight scrapes, especially when she would have her private midnight flying sessions with Hiro and Ayako and try to beat her own time of the fastest lap around the school on a broom. There was something soothing about the cold night air, and something thrilling about barely escaping serious trouble, whether it be at school or at the chaos which ought to be known as home.[/reducio] Evasive Maneuvers: [reducio]As Chiaki's third year at Mahoutokoro quickly approached, she had already gotten more involved with the school and its activities. Firstly, she'd managed to make her mark on the school's broom racing team, pushing her way forwards and making sure to further her abilities, especially when it came to ducking, weaving and dodging around objects as she pushed to fly at faster and faster speeds. Furthermore, she'd been working on bettering herself and abilities after the Hexwizard Tournament, realising just how out of her depth she had been when she had competed. Facing all of those older students had been absolutely terrifying, and she didn't enjoy feeling so unprepared. Naturally stealthy and gifted with a feline-like ability to dodge and duck, it only took motivation and dedication for Chiaki to be able to improve her skills. On New Year, she made a promise to herself that by the end of the year, she would have worked on improving her abilities, especially when it came to dodging things, and that included people. She'd use different exercises, employing her friends' help, such as having them throw pillows at her and have her dodge them, or tennis balls if she was on her broom. But that could only do so much. It wouldn't be the same as ducking branches or weaving through trees. So she made a schedule for herself, and pushed herself to stick to it. Every day, working on the smaller exercises, and twice a week, she would do a lap around the track. The repetition would help her, at least for now, with familiarising herself and allowing her prepare dodges and move out of the way, increasing her times as she shot around the racecourse. At home during the holidays, she would also continue to work on this newfound talent that she was leaning into and continuously working to perfect. Slipping in and out, moving around things, she would work these exercises into her everyday routine, especially when she was just doing her standard chores. It allowed her to feel more accomplished as she worked on the menial tasks whilst her parents were out of the house. Finally, she decided to test herself, to see if she was any closer to achieving her goal. She had her friends set up a course she could run through, setting a time in her head she wanted to complete it in. It began on the ground, to test her abilities normally, and then she would complete another on her broom, to make sure the abilities were evenly matched. Whilst her time wasn't as fast as she would've hoped, she had definitely improved, and her newly developed evasive skills were definitely something for her to be proud of. Name: Akari Takahashi
School: Mahoutokoro
Year: First
Status: Pureblood
Appearance: Akari has long and straight black hair that she likes to tie up in a small bun with the rest of her hair let down. She is about 5'1, but she's grown fairly quickly in the past few months. Akari has pretty brown eyes that sometimes twinkle with mischief, or sometimes worry and confusion if she's feeling that way. She likes wearing cute sweaters and skirts, and additionally, she plays a string instrument, so her hands are sometimes callused from playing. Her posture is not the best, but she tries to sit and stand up as straight as she can.

Personality: Akari is a gentle and quiet person. She always wanted to fit in and to be like everyone else, but she couldn't, no matter how hard she tried. She makes "friends" easily, but she never really feels like she can really open up to them or be herself around them. Akari can also be a little bossy and sarcastic when she is angry. On the other hand, if Akari really warms up to you, she can seem really outgoing, talkative, and she goofs around a lot and loves to play pranks.
History: Akari was born on March 29, 2012. She grew up as an only child with her parents in Mainland Japan. Growing up, she had always been curious about magic... even a little... scared. The village she grew up in wasn't a wizarding village, so it seemed like her family always had to hide. It was like keeping a huge secret for your whole life. All her friends seemed so... happy and, so.. normal. She always felt like she didn't fit in, no matter how hard she tried.
She was really curious about magic and couldn't wait to learn it. She had always been fascinated by the way her parents could cast spells and brew potions. On the other hand, she was scared that someone would find out about the magic. She wasn't scared of magic itself, although she was scared of what somebody could do with it if they used it in a harmful manner.
When she was nine, she experienced her first instance of magic. She was eating an icecream from a muggle shop, and she accidentally dropped it on the floor. Oddly, it floated back up, straight onto the cone. Akari thought this was very weird, and she threw the ice cream away, as it probably wasn't very sanitary.
A few short weeks later, she got invited to a Japanese School of Magic for her magical education! Akari was really excited and couldn't wait to attend!

The school lore reads "After a child displays their first sign of magic and reaches the age of seven, they are invited to the school's day program - a chance to start their education before a time of boarding" but you do not mention your character receiving this invitation at age 9 when they had their first magic. Please include it or explain why her parents chose to not have her attend.
Your history contradicts itself, you have written she was scared of magic but also curious about it. As a pureblood, why would Akari be scared or curious of something she grew up surrounded by? Please include some explanation for this.
You included that your character told a muggle about her being a witch. This is problematic in that it breaks the idea of secrecy between the muggle world and magic world. It is likely her pureblood parents would've made it very clear not to tell anyone if she was interacting with muggles. Please write in some justification here for why she would tell a muggle about her status and the repercussions of having their Ministry of Magic intervening, otherwise remove this detail.

At first, one would notice the cold eyes upon his pallid skin, so transparent that you'd wonder whether this boy went outdoors in the sunlight at all. He gave off a frosty demeanor, hardly a sincere smile of cheer or happiness gracing his lips. As a young boy, his peers found his lack of enthusiasm for anything other than his studies and dueling strange. His grades never slipped, his countenance was detached, and he was apathetic towards his fellow classmates. However, it was not Akira's indifference or cold demeanor that gave him a terrible aura. As he grew older, it became more clear that it was the fire of his rage that overpowered his icy exterior.
The way he looked at you with disdain as you bumped him in the hallways was intimidating, but the consequences of angering him were more real. He was not afraid of using his magic to settle scores, and there was no doubt that his grades and school ranking was backed by a real talent and control of the arcane. He was talented as a duelist for his age, and even the average upperclassman knew that he could face them without fear. Pain did not intimidate Akira, who had suffered many burns and worse spells in his life. Perhaps, people were intimidated by the way he felt so nonchalant about inflicting pain upon others, because he was so blasé about experiencing pain himself.
And when he hurt others, he would do so without any remorse at the moment. Barbed words could tear at their consciences as he found weaknesses. It was the conglomeration of his rage, hurt, and emotions that spilled forth into a storm upon others. Even as his Hexwizard Tournament team won their first match, he did not hesitate to tear into their Champion for not doing better, not caring if any of his other teammates got in the way of the words he had to make his Champion hear, or even if those teammates took on collateral damage. One never quite knew if he was going to explode at the slightest inconvenience or mistake.
He would be perfect, and the world had to be perfect for him. The older he became, and the more power he obtained, the more entitled he felt. He was less concerned about his outward appearance or how others viewed him -- and even if he tried to conceal his true thoughts and feelings, somehow they would always seep back out.

1. Perfectionist I
2. Perfectionist II
When you cast a spell, you take your time doing so. You enunciate your words with care and you do not recklessly swish your wand about. Your spells don't backfire, they don't fail. You're too much of a Perfectionist to let that happen.
[reducio]Akira strives for excellence. From a young age, he was taught that every pursuit and action in life must be made with proper care. It was not only how you executed, but also how you conducted yourself in front of your peers and superiors, and how much you sought to hone your craft. It was upon his work that Akira built his pride, and he had always taken his education seriously. His perfectionist qualities are also reflected in his spellcasting, as he would carefully practice the wand movements and recite the incantations separately when learning a spell before casting, and rigorously commit both to memory with repeated practice every night until it became second nature to him when a spell was needed.
The way Akira saw it, his job as a child was to be a student, and he was to build his craft in his studies. From a young age, in addition to a child's regular schooling lessons, he would have tutors in calligraphy and music. Both practices were heavily centered around technique and patience; calligraphy was an art that taught the balancing of the mind, the art of expression, and familiarity with popular literary works. To hone his craft, Akira would read literature of the ancients beyond what was expected of his age. He meditated often and practiced his brush strokes and ink-grinding to achieve perfect consistency. To enhance his flute practice, he would study theory and listen to the recordings of masters to study their variations.
His studies in calligraphy and music were just the tip of the iceberg. Once he enrolled in Mahoutokoro day school at the age of seven, he already made it his personal goal to one day don the golden robes and to be one of the two class representatives. He was able to become one of the few top performers within his year at a school with rigorous academics and studious peers. Throughout the years, Akira became an adept learner, developing ways to study efficiently and review his lessons with care. Before each class, he would preview the relevant textbook chapters and the professors' relevant notes. During class, he would listen intently and ask questions as need be. After class, he reviewed the material within the same day and often began his homework as soon as possible. At the end of his week, he would review his notes for the week once more.
Patience and discipline were key. Whenever he had setbacks or mistakes on a test, he would often grind his teeth in frustration and sometimes beat himself up a little harder than necessary, but his resolve would strengthen as he tells himself that there's no point crying over spilt ink. Mistakes were learning opportunities, after all. Discipline kept his resolve sharp and a routine became natural once he followed it. After all, those who strongly desired to rise up would find a way to build a ladder.[/reducio][reducio]"Mind over matter. Now, Akira-kun, what does that mean?" his tutor asked a ten year old Akira, shivering in only a hakama in late fall, dripping wet from a bucket of water that had been poured over his head. A chilly breeze blew through the courtyard of the Shimizu estate, and the slim boy couldn't help but shiver.
"F-focus and intent matter most, Ikeda-sensei," the boy stuttered, clinging to his wand with pale hands. "N-no matter what your physical circumstances are," he continued, looking at the targets placed in the distance. His sensei nodded. "Yes, use your mental fortitude to maintain concentration and strength of will despite any bodily discomfort or distractions. However, that is only half the equation. You're forgetting something else, Akira-kun," the older man prompted his pupil to think harder, despite the child's chattering teeth.
The small boy thought for a second. "D-don't let emotional distractions get in your way while casting magic, either?" he asked, finding it quite hard to use his mind over the bone-chilling matter at this very moment. "Precisely," Ikeda-sensei responded. "Clear your mind. Your opponents may taunt you, and test your will to strive for perfection, but push away those voices and concentrate on what you need to achieve at that moment. Think about what you need to do: What is the incantation you need to utter? What is the wand movement you need to perform? What is it that you need the spell to do for you? Now, give it a try."
Akira raised his wand and uttered the incantation, drawing the wand movement in the air ahead of him. Sparks ignited but a small explosion rocked him, causing him to stumble backwards. "Not so hasty!" his sensei cautioned him. "Take your time. Remember what we've practiced, and concentrate on that." The boy was upset by his failure, but was determined to try again until he succeeded. He took a deep breath, and concentrated his will, taking his time to go over the correct incantation and careful wand movement before casting again. This time, the right color of sparks shot forth from his wand, hitting its intended target. He smiled at his success, looking towards his sensei.
"Good job," Ikeda-sensei responded calmly. "Now, how about a fresh bucket of water and we try again?" A bucket levitated above Akira's head before splashing some more water upon the already-drenched boy, but did little to discourage him from repeated practice until he was able to achieve perfection in his spells under the harshest circumstances. And so, his spellcasting practice continued. To this day, Akira would practice his spells many times over until the movements and incantations became second nature -- actions that could deem him a perfectionist in the eyes of many.[/reducio]3. Spell Spread
You go big or go home. Your spells tend to be a bit grander in scale than your contemporaries.
[reducio]Ever since he enrolled in day school at Mahoutokoro, Akira Shimizu had always wanted to become a duelist. It wasn't simply a future written for him by his pure-blooded parents -- as a child, he had been fascinated by the various spells he could one day master, and the deftness by which he was able to wield his magic compared to similarly aged peers.
Dueling fit his strengths perfectly. It leaned heavily on the caster's individual abilities: concentration, memorization, rehearsal, reflexes, instinct, and strategy. As a child who preferred to lean on his own ability and hard work, he quickly found that he was not accustomed to the level of teamwork required by quidditch, nor was he a fan of heights and flying, which both quidditch and broom racing required. While teamwork was still required of duelists when competing in pairs, he found it easier to adapt to a single other individual than the numerous uncontrollable factors brought on by more team players on the race course or pitch.
He dove in headfirst into his chosen sport. As soon as he was able to wield a wand, spell practice commenced in full force in his dual worlds: at home with tutors and in school with professors and classmates. He always attended the matches of his seniors to admire their abilities and strategies; those were the sportsmen that he one day longed to be and to exceed. They were the upperclassmen from whom he hoped to gain trust and respect. Once he discovered, at a young age, that spells could not only affect a single target but could spread to multiple targets, he knew it was a skill that he had to master himself to become a competitive duelist.
Once he joined the dueling team at Mahoutokoro, he had been many times a victim to spell spread when paired against upperclassmen. Each loss or hit only made him more adamant about learning the ability himself. It took months upon months of training; first learning a wide array of his first repertoire of spells, then perfecting his casting ability to become a perfectionist in his casts, and finally he sought to make those spells spread. Over the summer before becoming a third-year, he was finally able to make it happen after ruthless practice with his tutor and team extracurriculars. However, he knew that he had to continue working just as hard to become even stronger.[/reducio]4. Terrible Presence
There is something that is just... not right about you. A chill in the air, a sense felt deep in the bones. The shadows might seem more lively, the night might play more tricks on your opponent's eyes. Yet there is one, undeniable truth -- the source is you.
[reducio]At first, one would notice the cold eyes upon his pallid skin, so transparent that you'd wonder whether this boy went outdoors in the sunlight at all.

ReducioHis journey of practising his evasion came a long way. At first, it was because he was against all sorts of violence. A desperate tactic to prove he was not the ‘gangster’ image people often think of him as. But seasons change, and motivations take a different turn. The Hexwizard tournament. Quidditch. The friends he made along the way. It all shaped him and his perspective. When he practised evasion, it was no longer just to prove things to other people. Now, it was to keep his teammates safe in the skies during quidditch.
He never thought himself to like the sport. He still pretty much hated every second of it. But his teammates relied on each other for a win, including him. It was the reason why he learned how to rebound a bludger. And now, it would be why he asked his grandmother to tutor him in the finesse of evasion. Like seriously train him.
The woman was old, grey-haired with a small round back and a deep snarl on her face. But she was experienced in fitness, strength and agility from her time in the army. During every holiday and several summers, Sara revisited childhood nostalgia with his grandmother through rigorous sports training. As if he was training for athletic tryouts. It was pure torture. Evading tennis balls from an automatic machine was not fun.
And when he felt confident with evading tennis balls, his next challenge was to face off against his grandmother's old friends. Their skills are sharp despite their age. The tinge of slowness of their aged muscles provided a slight advantage for Sara. All he needed was to dodge their attacks. And yet even that took months to even achieve. He had it coming when he underestimated their skill.
With each failure over the months, Sara found himself in a headspace to reflect on his motivations. And in the end, it always led him to the same conclusion. His friends. In a game where his core insecurities became a strength. What he felt was his inherent weakness becoming an asset. The evasive skill that used to be used only for himself, is now a commonly used strategy to protect his teammates.
Before he knew it, motivation was easier to find whenever he started his evasive training. Before dawn even breaks, he would wear a jacket and turn on the automatic tennis ball machine. Pumped himself up, and prepared for an hour or two of dodging. After months of training, whether it was evading launching tennis balls, or skilful combat arts from an ex-member of the army, Sara’s instinct to force his body to react to incoming danger just came…easier.
He didn’t tell his teammates what he had been doing in his free time. But during practice and games, the more observant ones in his team could notice the improvement.

Well, sure he had a rather intimidating look about him, with his short hair, piercing stare, and clothing style. But underneath that rough exterior, anyone who knew him personally could see what a gentle softie he was. If it was not a blank intimidating stare he was wearing, it was an awkward grin. Rarely had anyone seen him truly angry. His parents had to explain 99% of the time why Sara as a younger child looked like he was planning world domination. In Japanese, Kohana could be translated to Little Flower. Sara was given his name to suit such a flowery-themed name. In kanji, his name directly translates to Blossom Little Flower. It was a lovely idea! With two flower-obsessed parents, they had dreamed of Sara growing up as they did. With unconditional love for flowers. Perhaps even passionate enough to take over their flower shop. Unfortunately, that dream and expectation of theirs would never come true. It was not as bad as a baby and toddler. He and his parents lived in a cosy modest room above their flower shop. Despite living right above a pollen-infested danger room, his parents had gone through dedicated methods to completely separate their house from their flower shop. In that house, the theme was minimalistic. Thinking they had seen enough flowers in the shop, the house was devoid of such monstrosities. This is why it came as a surprise to them when Sara, who had been confined to the safe quarters of their home, had a massive sneezing allergy to pollen. The Great Discovery was found out when he was 8. While Sara had gone in and out of the flower shop to either go outside or play with cats, he never had to stay in there for long hours. Even before the Great Discovery, Sara had always felt an awful feeling towards flowers. He had to suffer a few sneezes and whatnot whenever he passed those dreaded plants, but after a few breaths of fresh air, he felt better. For the longest time, he thought it was just the cold weather, which was fitting for him as he would sneeze when he was too cold as well. That all changed when his parents wanted to teach him how to run the flower shop. Every Saturday, he was to sit in the flower shop and observe the work, needing to do simple tasks as well. His parents were surprised that their mostly behaved and gentle boy could make such a face all day. Despite being a mere child, his angry stare was something that even sent adults shivering. Chilling enough for several customers to visit the other flower shop down the road. What's worse is that he wouldn’t say anything. He only keeps a napkin by hand to sneeze into and his stare cold and hard whenever it lands on the colorful flowers. The uncomfortably he felt puts him in an awful mood, but he was not a complainer, and therefore kept quiet. Which may have intensified his foul mood, making his customer service skills go down the drain. Knowing his parents were so proud of him, he kept silent about his growing hatred for being a florist for weeks, attending every Saturday florist work he had. However, that had to change when he was now expected to stay awhile every two days. His pent-up frustration started to seep into his daily life, making him easily irritable, constantly snappy and frowning. Everywhere since then, all he could see was those blasted- eye itching- puke-inducing- assortments of dangerous petals. He thought it was the bright colors that he had a weird deep hatred for, so he started to feel angry whenever he even sees a few colourful tones. That tree with its luscious bright green leaves? Burn it. That calming blue sky above him? Burn it. That poodle with pink dyed hair? Don’t burn it, but please don’t dye the poodle anymore. His teachers and friends noticed his change of demeanour first. The aura around him changed drastically. While he was still very polite, it was easy to sense the anger that laced in his tone. Suddenly, his peers were aware of his tall height, sharp stare and rough voice. All that added with his deafening silence and angry tone, Sara’s friend list on Facebook started getting short really fast. After a week of losing friends, losing sleep, and losing his mind, he went to his parents and told them the truth about his experience with working as a florist. Truthfully, the idea of Sara being slightly allergic to flowers didn’t even come to his parent's mind until after their visit to the doctor. While they now understood the situation better, and Sara’s florist days were over, there was no cure to his hatred. In fact, knowing about his allergy made him even more furious. Now not only did things with color make him wear an ugly scowl, but every single flower sent him fuming. Plastic, drawing, shape, you name it- he hates it. His parents had tried to help him with it, but it was no use. He wanted total domination of flowers. Environment be damned, he’d burned them, said he, menacingly to his parents who asked what he wanted for his birthday. In fear that Sara would pick up on pyromaniac tendencies, his parents opted for a change of environment for Sara. He was sent to his grandmother's house to live in. Sara was still constantly in a foul mood and often scared people by how silent and menacing he is. But living with his grandmother, he learned that in a household, there can only be one cranky hag and it could not be him. His grandmother was eccentric at best, and devil-looking at worst. Healthy, upbeat, and with a history in the military, Sara had another thing that contributed to his foul mood. 2 years into their cohabitation, while the kid and the elderly had their rough demeanors clash multiple times, Sara had noticed that pink poodles could exist. His grandmother never praised his constant foul mood, but she had done a wonderful job at taking his focus away from flowers and bright colors. Slowly but surely, his dreams of being an arsonist faded and he found his old self again. Although he had reconnected with his gentle side and was no longer in a constant bad mood, it didn’t change his natural face. Inherited from his grandmother, he had a resting look that could kill. Perhaps it was the years he spent making an angry face, but he could not do anything to ease people whenever he was near them. As if traces of his dark past were still on his face, people tended to stay away from the tall boy, eager not to anger him. Although he was in a happy mood, there was no way to undo his stone-cold, mean-looking face.. [/reducio] Lovely Creature [reducio]With his presence, he makes people tremble. Their eyes watch him and their hearts beat faster than a normal rate. But it was when he turned 12 that people started to think that perhaps their heart was racing for a different reason.. Before, they couldn’t see his face properly. His hair was often unkempt and shaggy, as a poor attempt to cover his naturally angry eyebrows. But When his grandmother expressed that she wanted to save a little money for her ‘next hot date’, Sara went to the barber to give him a haircut, hoping to cut his hair enough so they no longer need to constantly buy shampoo for his previously long hair. Unfortunately, the barber got a bit too much of his hair- pretty much leaving him with almost none left. Sara forgave him of course, as now they could save shampoo usage even more! Unexpected luck, how sweet. The grandmother didn’t share his happiness with his new look. “ It’s shiny!” Which was a compliment, Sara thought. Being shiny was quite a nice look, wasn’t it? He would find out later that he was not the only one who liked his new look. Apart from being amazing caretakers to flowers, there was another reason why his parents' flower shop gained a lot of attention. They did not have a history of being a cranky child that was constantly thinking of world domination, unlike their only son. Therefore, no one had expected Sara to inherit their ability to attract onlookers. His past years, he still attracted onlookers, but for completely different reasons. Which is why he didn’t feel any different than he did before. People were definitely still avoiding him if they could help it. They still jumped whenever his piercing stares met theirs and looked away the next second. The acceptance he learned to live with his intimidating aura had made him oblivious to the faint blushes his peers' cheeks had after looking away. Yes, being near Sara felt like you were standing next to a person who could crush you and leave you to live your life as a crumpled ball. But if you sucked in the chilling aura and were brave enough to take a longer glance at his face, you could melt in a puddle right there. Several classmates had linked Sara to a Persian cat. Angry looking, with their own special elegance that made it stand out. Look past his scary demeanor, and you would know he definitely took after his attractive parents. [/reducio] Fearless [reducio] It’s hard to be scared of others when you are considered scary yourself. Despite his record of stumbling over his words and relatively shy nature, he is not one to run away in the face of danger. Yes, he’s a cry baby. But he’s also a brave crybaby. Tears are hella manly. And only the bravest souls would be able to admit their feelings and let it out. He had suspected that his grandmother only told him that so he would cry more at school than at home. But regardless, in his head it had always been: cry more = more brave. Such an inspirational quote. So much that there is a badly drawn poster of it plastered above his bedside. In addition to this, apart from his rather mischievous grandmother, he had grown up with the most loving parents anyone could ever ask for. They had made him the gentle and kind boy he is today. And with that they had taught him a few things in life that were important in his everyday life. First, you do not judge anyone by their covers. Like him, there would be plenty of people with angry eyebrows that may like cats as much as he does. Second, mean people are only mean because they have been hurt. So try to understand it from their point of view. To understand one is to befriend one. Third, be kind to animals. Some may want to eat your flesh, but if you invite them for tea, perhaps you will have a jolly time. It was no wonder his grandmother never wanted to live with them. Regardless, it would be hard to scare the boy who attempted to understand everything. Even the scariest creature would not be able to scare him since they might enjoy a tea party if Sara invited them. In addition to this, from the age of 7-12, he had thought he was a descendant of ogres. A crude joke from his grandmother that ended up making him read any picture book he could find on ogres and other related mythical creatures. By a very young age, he had already exposed himself to different picture books containing the magical creature. With an urge to understand his ‘heritage’, he would find the not-so-kid-friendly picture books in the library and promptly apologize to the librarian after he was done. Sure, he cried at some of those photos and drawings. But the more he exposed himself to them, the less he cried. Eventually being used to the most gruesome or grotesque images and their history. [/reducio] Evasive Maneuvers [reducio]Evasive may be the last ability you’d think of when seeing Sara. His burly build made it seem like he was the type to send a powerful punch but be slow on his attacks. It’s no lie that his punches could make people weep from pain, but it wouldn’t be smart to underestimate his agility. As a young boy, he had a terrible past where his entire being was the human reincarnation of the 😒😤🙄emogis. The life of someone who was allergic to pollen while living in a flower shop with his 2 florist parents made it hard to be happy about anything. His days were spent grunting, snapping, and frowning at everything and everyone in sight. The nasty reputation he had in his small hometown wasn’t helping either. Though the issue was resolved once he had moved in with his grandmother and returned to his old marshmallow self, the prior actions Sara had done will continue to haunt him to this day. While he was still somewhat self-conscious about it now, he was very insecure about it when he was younger. It took years to get used to how differently he was treated due to his intimidating appearance and the reputation his old self had left him. He wasn’t bullied, but no fists needed to be swung to understand how he was not favoured among many. The whispers and sideways glances were too hard to ignore, even for Sara. No one dared to touch him of course, not with his evident strength. And knowing his grandmother was in the army? Fat chance of anyone messing with him, face to face. But that only made him more anxious. He made a promise to himself that even with his strength, he would always be on the defensive and avoid hurting anyone. It was never in his nature to use forceful ways to get what he wanted. How serious he was about his promise would be tested as time passed. Some children become gutsier as they grow older. The gang of gangster wannabe kids would prove that by surrounding Sara after school with intention of teaching him who's ‘boss’. A term that confused Sara because he didn’t recall having any jobs at school that made him a boss of anything. One by one kid would attempt a chance to land a hit on him. Sara, reminding himself that he didn’t want to hurt any of them, merely placed all his energy into avoiding them whenever they tried anything. Being on his guard for so long had prepared him to survive this unfair attack. Despite it being 1 vs 6, none of them seemed to be able to get close to Sara at all. Just as they were about to hurt him, Sara’s determination made him narrowly avoid their attacks. Thankfully, someone had called a teacher before it could get worse, but little did he know this would be a regular thing to him. After that attack, it seemed like beating him in a fight was a sort of honor among gangster wannabes in his muggle school. And it would always end the same way, Sara running away without a single scratch, profusely apologizing as he ran away. It was evasion practice for him. A band of 4-7 kids tried to hit him and ultimately failed. At some point in time, people stopped ganging up on him. Although it had been years since anyone attempted to attack him, Sara’s evading skills never dulled. It was clear that he was very serious about his promise of never hurting anyone and being on the defensive. [/reducio] Rebound [reducio]Once upon a time, Quidditch was simple to the young boy. Just a brutal bloodbath people surprisingly enjoyed. But now, as a 5th year, he knew better. He knew that there were worse things to participate in. The Hexwizard’s 1st task for example. The lingering scent of iron, the pounding in his ears, the tears he shed was still a prominent memory to him. Memorable, and yet he was still unsure in what way. Good or bad? Maybe it was more accurate to describe it as somewhere in between. Thankfully, the boy was quite fond of focusing more on the good when he could help himself. The same optimism had made Quidditch a topic that was far more complex. No longer would the time turn slow during practice, for it was slower during the hexwizard task. No longer would be rigid with worry, for he knew what would happen to his teammates if he was slow to react. In some odd way, the horrors of the tournament had made the game more tolerable for him. Before, he couldn’t wait to get out of it. Now though, the only main objective in his mind was to end the game. And fast. The faster it ended, the less his teammates needed to spend their precious hours healing in the hospital wing. Stumbling onto this ‘rebound’ method was by complete chance and luck. While mindlessly reading up on past quidditch matches, there was a particular skill that caught his eye. One where a player evades a bludger and still has the reflex to squash it back to an unsuspecting target. The thought of it made his stomach hurl. And yet… that was an interesting way to end the game quickly. It was like this skill was made to enhance his already known capabilities. Even for a big guy like him, he was delightfully agile on his feet as well as on his broom. His history of being quite athletic didn’t make the task harder, at least. With just the right tilt, a certain angle, a sharp eye, and a lot of mistakes in the beginning, he adapted to the new skill. It was not a certainty that he would always be able to use this skill. While his strong feelings about Quidditch had mellowed down, his usual worries would always manage to crept into his mind. What if I hit too hard? What if I had to hit a friend? What if I’m just not cut out for this? But since the Hexwizard, a stir had changed within the young boy. The small, but growing desperation to end the game rests in him. During the chance that that desperation becomes louder than his worries, it would be the time his Rebound skill would come into play. [/reducio] Evasive Maneuvers II [reducio]His journey of practising his evasion came a long way. ReducioMateo always had a passion for Quidditch, and as he'll be starting his second year at Mahoutokoro, he still has a huge passion for the sport. Most people think it's because his parents are professional Quidditch players, but Mateo's passion isn't from the fact that his parents are professional Quidditch players, it's because, ever since he saw a game live, he's loved it ever since.
Mateo was around the age of four when he had seen his first game, at the London Quidditch Stadium. Ever since then, he knew he wanted to become a professional Quidditch player, and he wanted to be a chaser.
The game that he watched was the best quidditch game he had ever watched in his life before. He, noticing the chasers’ moves the most, found out that they were all using Firebolts, a well-known broom that is known for its speed. Knowing a little about quidditch himself from the endless talking about it from his parents, he was thrilled when he saw it and asked his parents whether they could teach him quidditch and how to fly. His parents, seeing how much their son had longed for that, promised that they could. Ever since then, his parents taught him Quidditch, and how to fly.
One day, when his parents were lazing around a park near their home, Mateo suddenly said something that his parents had almost forgotten - the promise of teaching him how to play chaser in quidditch! Apologising quickly to their son, they took out a few brooms and taught their son, step by step, how to play chaser. Quite soon, their talented son had gotten the hang of it, and was able to score a few goals, with his parents doing their part as keeper. "Well done!" his parents told him as the sun had started to set. "Let’s get back into the house. We sure are proud of you to be able to play quidditch at such an early stage of learning!"
Patting his son on his head, the Mateo’s parents looked at him. "Looks like there’s something good here!" they said happily, with a light of triumph on their eyes, which were twinkling merrily. “Look, our Mateo’s getting really good at quidditch!” Mateo’s parents smiled, looking at their son proudly.
After this event of quidditch, Mateo started to adore this sport, and as a result, ended up practicing much more than he normally would. Who knows, by the end of his tremendously hard work, what would pay off? Therefore, Mateo decided to work harder on his quidditch skills, as he has a desire to become a professional Quidditch player in the position of Chaser.

Lucky for him, whenever he flew home, nothing happened, but one day he was playing in his backyard, and well, he had threw a ball too high and it had went over the fence, so he went to go get it by climbing over the fence, and after he had gotten the ball, as he was about to climb over the fence again, he felt a strange feeling, like as if someone was watching him, but decided to shrug it off, but someone indeed was watching him.[/reducio] Chasers Interception (444 words): [reducio]Mateo always had a passion for Quidditch, and as he'll be starting his second year at Mahoutokoro, he still has a huge passion for the sport. Misplaced items, hard to see details, perhaps the fact that Miharu could see and find those easily was what made her mother think she had what it takes to be a Seeker.
As a young child, Haru had been an observant child. Her mom would often misplace some items in their home and Haru, being a good daughter, would always try to find it, perhaps a way to impress her parents. One time, her mother was frantically looking for a hairpin that she received as a gift from her husband. She had always taken good care of it but had somehow misplaced it while changing and preparing for their dinner plan. While it might’ve seemed like Haru was just sitting there and watching, she was already observing what’s around her, looking at places where the hairpin might’ve fallen off. It wasn’t in a place that’s easy to be noticed but Haru had no problem finding it. A glimmer, that’s what she had seen under one of the drawers, quickly pointing it out to her mother. Looking down, it was the same hairpin that she’s been looking for. It was small enough to not get noticed quickly, much more when it’s under a drawer considering how it blends with the darkness but Haru had taken notice of it rather easily. A keen eye, that’s what she has.
It was what made her mom tell her to try out for a Seeker position when she was about to start attending Mahoutokoro, remembering all those times that Haru had no problem finding these items that her mother would constantly misplace, not on purpose of course. Initially, her mom wanted her to follow after her, being a Chaser and all but she knows she is better off in a Seeker position with that observant nature of hers.
And that’s what Haru did. She applied for Seeker and before she even knew it, she was in the team. She can’t say it wasn’t difficult trying to find that golden snitch in every practice game they have in school. It was completely different from trying to spot a stationary object under a drawer or in the corner of a shelf. Still, that didn’t stop her and somehow she finds it a good challenge, to see how far her improved observation skills could take her. She would train until she got used to the quick movements of the snitch, the slightest glimmer of it, its sudden blurry movements and before she even knew it, it had become a lot easier to find it.
While she is satisfied with the outcome of her training and exercises, Haru knows that she shouldn't stop there and that she should continue striving to be the best Seeker in her team.

How? One might ask for this girl mostly spends her time within the library of the Goto Manor doing self-studies and reading, barely leaving the room unless it was necessary. She was never seen playing with other children, namely her cousins who are always seen running around. Miharu's type of fun is staying inside with a book in hand or in some rare times, looking out the window and watching whatever unfolds before her.
Perhaps it was because of her mother. She was known as an athletic woman during her time in school and even made it as part of her school's Quidditch team as a chaser. Well, it could be a factor but it was actually the fact that her mother had been trying to get her to follow her footsteps as a Quidditch player. At a young age, Haru was exposed to the said sport, often watching with her mother and father when a Quidditch match is up. While her father was interested in it, her mother was obsessed with it. It was what pushed her mother to try and get Haru into the sports and it was successful.
Haru didn't like Quidditch at first because her mother had simply forced it on her. Then again, they are a pureblood family and for some reason, broom riding is a must in their family. They do try to excel in a lot of things and Quidditch and broom riding aren't an exception. She insisted on teaching her and Haru eventually agreed. She was so bad at it at first, often falling off and barely moving but after a couple of tries, she was getting the hang of it and, as much as she doesn't want to admit it, despite being forced on her, Haru started liking broom riding. At that time, she had thought that maybe, she could give Quidditch a try. Her agility should be able to help her with that.
Under her mother's supervision, Haru continued her broom riding training. First off, simple movements, getting used to the speed and swerving left or right and then she moved in to evasive maneuvers once she had expressed her desire to try the sports once she is able to. While she focuses mostly on her flying in a broom, she trains her reaction time on land in a dodgeball game that her mother had introduced to her, finding it useful if she wanted to work on some evasive maneuvers. All she has to do then is apply it in broom riding. Before she even knew it, her movements and reaction had grown a lot thanks to those simple exercises and that had just made her mother proud, telling her that she could become a great Quidditch player.
[/reducio]Evasive Maneuvers II | WC: 485/400[reducio]Days after days, Miharu never stopped her practices as she didn't want her skill getting dull by lack of exercises. Not to mention, her parents seem to have approved of her training even if they aren't there to supervise her. She is still keen on trying out Quidditch and once she gets into the team, she wants to be prepared for it, to be in excellent shape. After all, she is striving to be one of the best players that they'll have or else, her parents might be disappointed at her.
At school, she would continue to train herself in flying class, especially when she has some free time. She could always be seen with a broom which is quite surprising for those who don't know her that well for most of the time, she is seen as a bookworm who always has her nose stuck between the pages of the books. Who would've thought that she was that athletic and interested in broom riding and Quidditch. It was even more surprising if one would see her in action.
Her early education on broom riding had helped her a lot, giving her an advantage that made her excel in class. Flying a broom had become a second nature to her as shown with her impressive maneuvers in the air. She could do quick turns, avoid obstacles that may come her way to the point that some might say she is trying to show off when in reality, she wasn't. For others, her skills were already at the top but for Haru, it wasn't enough.
She wants to be able to move in the air with ease, develop her reaction time some more to the point that it'd be hard for people to hit her or catch her. Quidditch is a rough game and she is going for a position that people might target quite a lot, a seeker. She had seen some games where the seekers had been targeted by beaters with their bludgers. With no seeker on the other team, the golden snitch is as good as theirs. She wants to prevent that from happening and if she wants to stay in the air for a long time while still getting attacked, then she needs more skills in dodging, maybe becoming untouchable while in the air.
While it is quite an impossible feat to achieve, it is a great goal to strive. She might not be untouchable, but she would still be harder to target. Haru continues to work on her broom maneuvers as well as getting used to the speed of her broom. The faster she goes, the harder it is for anyone to hit her but she needs to keep herself steady in the air with great control, thus, the daily training in broom handling under her mother's supervision which proves to be a great help in achieving her goal as a great Quidditch player.
