Before Hogwarts Alaric lived a charmed life with a large family including his mother, siblings, and grandparents, as well as a passel of aunts, uncles, and cousins who were often in and out of the family estate. He doesn't know his father, though. His father and mother did something nearly unspeakable in Pure-blood society and separated before Alaric was born. His father then moved away, and his mother moved Alaric and his siblings back in to her parents' estate. Alaric has an older brother and sister, twins, named Corwin and Theodora.
Their grandparents stepped up to help their mother, Cassiopeia, raise the three children. Alaric has never met his father, and his mother doesn't like to talk about him. She only states that they were different people than they were when they got married, and that it was for the best. As Alaric was well loved and got most of the things he wanted, everything he needed, and didn't want for attention, he was mostly satisfied with that answer during childhood. It's only been as he has gotten older that he's felt a desire to meet the man who sired him, though he isn't sure how he would go about it. He's afraid that his family would feel rejected if he was persistent in asking questions, especially with all the attention he received. His mother, grandparents, and older siblings doted on him, though he often felt smothered with all the attention, so he would slip away to read outside whatever chance he got.

As far as first instances of magic go, Alaric's was nothing special. He had been playing outside when he was five and wandered a little ways away from his mother when he tripped and fell. He scraped his knee and began to cry, but by the time his mother caught up to him and began to wipe away the blood, the wound was completely healed.

Raised as one of four children in a challenging, achievement-oriented magical family in Singapore, Alexandra Draymoor cut a steadfast and unbreakable path to excellence. She never vied for attention with her words, nor even with her presence, for her silences stood out above the noise. She had presence at a very young age, coupled with a wit as sharp as a blade and far removed from shallow. Amidst the turmoil that roiled up and down her world, in and among her household, she became the steady center: firm, unflappable, unbendingly perceptive.
Growing up in a family in which excellence was expected and praise was reserved, Alexandra became self-sufficient. It wasn’t with emotion or attention that she was interested, but with doing things right, well, and effectively. It was not emotions, it was discipline that was constant, and not the effort that one put in, but rather how well one withstood. Both her parents, successful practitioners in their own form of magic, were unbending in what they expected, but Alexandra couldn’t be swayed by pressure. She didn’t rebel; she practiced.
Her early magical training was a reflection of this same balance between drive and discipline. She succeeded, not through native talent, but through intense industry. Native talents or not, Alexandra never coasted. Her competence in magical theory, in the craft of spells, in mental disciplines like Occlumency and magical law resulted from long periods of study and a deeply internalized compulsion for control—over her world, her emotions, and her fate.
Graduating with highest honours, Alexandra sought to broaden her horizons. She travelled abroad, spending several years touring magical schools around Asia, the United Kingdom, and Africa. She honed her language skill in doing so, becoming fluent in both English and in Mandarin, and conversationally fluent in Malay. She also honed her knowledge of magical systems from every part of the world, cultural jurisprudence, and international magical diplomacy. These served her well to develop both her intellect and her sense of diplomacy. She found herself most fascinated by that which was at the boundary between structure, power, and magic—where power required responsibility and care.
In her early twenties, Alexandra was recruited into a magical diplomatic corps working in cross-border policy and educational reform. She found herself in fast-paced situations, typically as the sanest head in the roomful of agendas and egos. She could listen first, cut through bluster, and offer solutions as solid as they were fair, and in doing so, achieved quiet credibility. She was admired not just for her abilities, but for being able to lead without having to be in the spotlight.
At age thirty, Alexandra was already known for brilliance, for restraint, and for unshakeable integrity. She had published a number of papers on magical policy and educational systems, and had consulted for some of the biggest magical institutions in the world. And despite this growing power, she was a reserved, nearly enigmatic person—never self-promoting, rarely public, and ever in control.
The majority had anticipated that her next move would be a strictly political one, but Alexandra surprised even those close to her by assuming a leadership role in magical education. She dreamed of being able to shape generations to come not through rhetoric, but through example, form, and vision. This was where her subtle power was at its strongest. She instructed without a booming voice, nor did she discipline with harshness. She guided through stringent standards, a gentle voice, and the kind of presence that caused others to make efforts to satisfy her expectations without having to be told so.
In person, Alexandra is reserved but never cold. Her smile is uncommon but genuine, her wit biting but subtle. She doesn't say much, but what she does say is carefully weighed. She prefers lean shapes, spare architecture, and few lines—always elegant, never garish. Her physique is honed from a decade of Pilates and iron self-control: powerful, athletic, and economical in her movements. Her speech, even and low, draws the eye even in a hushed register. Her eyes, a shaded, mottled brown with a touch of gold, miss nothing. Even though discretion is paramount with her above almost anything else, those who are lucky enough to be in her inner circle describe her as quietly devoted, even-handed, and steadfastly ethical. She does not expect as much from others as from herself, nor does she take the path that is easy. Alexandra Draymoor has never had to shout to be heard—she gets her strength from self-control, her power from accuracy, and her legacy from the subtle, persistent difference that is possible for her to make.

First Instance of Magic:

Alexandra's first instance of magic was when she was 6 years old. She was sitting at the dinner table at a family gathering for a holiday. Alex was already annoyed listening to the loudness of her two brothers across from her. The sound of her sister crying next to her along with the loud chatter of adults who had dismissed her one too many times she had finally had enough.
Her eyes fixed on one of the many wine glasses on the table as a twisted feeling or rage mixed with resolve stirred in her gut. Without lifting a hand let alone a finger every glass in the room lifted into the air before settling back down onto the table in perfect stillness.

First Instance of Magic: When she was just eight, after running outside in a rainstorm with her friends to jump in puddles, Ottilie caught a bad cold. Not bad enough to worry her mother too seriously, but bad enough that she was home from school and in bed resting. Her mother was able to take the week off to care for her daughter, but there was still dishes to be washed and chores that kept her from being by her daughters side the entire time. Propped up by her pillows and surrounded with a small mountain of tissues, Tilly was attempting to sleep and recover from her cold. But she was way too hot. A mild fever and a not so mild amount of blankets were not helping her case. On the verge of falling asleep, she saw her blankets all get kicked off by some invisible force. The Thompson’s had never been a particularly well off family, and young Ottilie had grown up knowing second hand clothes and being tight on money well. Being a single mother raising a young kid, Bree Thompson had to work multiple jobs to keep them afloat. Tilly’s Dad had never been a part of her life, and her grandparents had been very firm about wanting nothing to with their disappointment of a daughter and her brat. But although Tilly’s family was small, it was a loving one. Her mother had done her very best to make sure that her daughter had access to everything she could need in life despite money constraints, and Tilly had grown up happy and carefree. The Thompson house was small but very much theirs, and it was conveniently close by to the muggle primary school that Tilly attended. With an old trampoline in the backyard and sofa cushions often rearranged into pillow forts, it was the much loved building that she called home.
Tilly’s childhood was a relatively normal one, although it was marked by several moves of house and school. Having to move across the country not once but twice for her mother to find work, she had only been at her current muggle school for one year when her Hogwarts letter arrived. Wherever she went though, some things always stayed the same. Tilly was a relatively sporty kid, who had tried out mostly everything her schools had to offer. She could be found outdoors most of the time, running around with the other kids from her neighbourhood kicking a football or chasing each other around. Although she was never top of the class, she had always done decently well in her schoolwork as well.

Olivia Thorn was born in London, the city her mother fell in love with once she moved there to attend Hogwarts in her youth. She was born on the 23rd of April, which, ironically, is also her mother's birthday. Olivia was born a witch, just like both of her parents. Her grandparents on both sides, though, are born muggles and never received any magical powers. Her parents were both lucky to attend Hogwarts in their youth. Olivia has long blond hair, wavy most of the time, and is rather small for her age. Her blue shiny eyes which she got from her Dad made her mom fall in love with her even mofe eveytime she would look at her daughter. Olivia is very set in her ways, she is proud of who she is and has always had passions to accomplish her dreams! She would be considered lean and a little athletic build, which shows her love for outdoor activities.
During summer, small freckles appear on her nose and cheeks, which her parents absolutely adore.
Olivia had always been a sunshine. There isn't a moment she is not smiling, waving at strangers on her way to school, or sharing her snacks during breaks between classes. She loves to spend time outdoors but is also obsessed with books! Having the ability to learn and get smart has always been a great goal for her to accomplish; she wants to learn as much as possible! This feeling has only increased since she found out she is a witch!
Olivia has always been very close to her mother Addie, not as close to her father Richard. Her father was always a very harsh and straight-forward person, which did not always match Olivia's way of thinking and feeling. She has no siblings.
First Instance of Magic:
Olivia's first instance of magic was when she was 9 years old, and she had gotten into an argument with her father. Her father was yelling at her for stumbling over her toys after he told her over a dozen times to clean it up. Olivia got so frustrated she yelled back that he should just stop yelling, and within seconds, her father was not able to raise his voice again; when he spoke, they could barely hear him. Her father had to go to St. Mungo's Hospital to get his voice fixed. And since that moment on, her parents knew that Olivia would follow them in their footsteps and attend Hogwarts once she turns 11.

Character Statistics:

Character Special Race/Talent: None - character is human
Character Backstory: Rose Lacina is a white, female half-blood from Waterford, Ireland, an area famous for its history in glass-making in Waterford Crystal, the city’s factory, which made glass from 1783 until early 2009, when it was shut down. It’s shutdown absolutely had nothing to do with magic, definitely not (*cough* it definitely did *cough*)
Rose grew up in her beloved home with her mother (a half-blood witch) and her many pets, including her 3 dogs, 2 owls, and a snake, all of whom she is very sad at having to leave behind to attend Hogwarts. Rose and her mother are very close, especially since Rose’s father (a muggleborn wizard) passed when Rose was very young, after being killed in a duel while at work as an Auror. Grief from the loss of her husband led Rose’s mother to leave England and move herself and Rose to Ireland, especially considering the danger that could result from being the family of an auror (aurors can make a lot of criminal enemies who crave revenge). Rose’s ancestors moved from Ireland in the late 1800s, so, in a way, it almost felt like Rose’s mother was returning home, and bringing her baby daughter home as well.
Growing up in a single-parent household is not easy, but it has made Rose a very kind-hearted and hard-working individual who loves to help others. Her mother, being a healer, definitely helped out with those values as well. Rose also loves learning about both magical and non-magical creatures, often reading books about all sorts of creatures in her free time. Rose is not the most social, having one or two (human) friends before coming to Hogwarts, but does enjoy being with others, as long as she gets her time alone to decompress.
Since her father was a muggleborn, Rose’s mother aimed to give her the best of both the magical world and the muggle world, so Rose would know the world her father came from and grew up in before learning he was a wizard. Rose’s father loved to make art with a variety of muggle tools from the usual pencil to paints to markers, which were all passed down to Rose as part of showing her the world her father lived in..
First Instance of Magic: Rose’s first instance of accidental magic, coming as no shock to her mother, was accidentally making a towel float to catch a pygmy puff that fell from her mother’s desk (that one of her patients had to place there while drinking a potion). Rose saw the little creature begin to fall, and her magic responded to her fear and panic, catching the creature before it could get hurt. From that day on, Rose’s love for creatures was very much apparent.

We just need a few minor details expounded upon.
1. How did your father die? Because your mother is a witch and would have magical healing, a lot of the things that would normally kill a muggle within a few years of child-rearing would be managed by a rather routine spell by your mother.
2. Your nationality is english, suggesting you were born in England. This would be a major part of your character's backstory. Can you explain when and why your character moved from England to Ireland?

Hiranmayi is a slim girl of average height. She loves wearing skirts and casual outfits, anything really that is comfortable. She has soft, brown eyes and usually wears a watch to check she is on time for whatsoever she does. She has long, black hair. She looks kind and somewhat cool.
Hiranmayi loves to curl up on her house swing and read(of course, provided there aren’t mosquitoes), watching the garden, spend time with her friends and family, or do scrapbooking and sing Carnatic music.
Hiranmayi grew up in a large family of nine in a large house. Her dad was an Investor in the US stock exchange and a philosopher and her mom was a housewife, both who supported her in her dreams, whatever they were. Her primary responsibility was to do well in school, learn the subjects and score well to make her parents proud. She loves playing with her brother and sister at home and also with her friends at home and school.
The first time Hiranmayi did magic accidentally was when she was eight and preparing for the exam and was feverishly looking through her notes to find a particular page when the book’s pages turned by themselves to exactly the page she wanted. She was surprised, but put it down to the wind and was ever so excited when she found out she was a witch, just like her mother.

Character backstory: Alexandra was raised by her parents, Rick and Maristella, in Scotland, with her grandparents living out in the country nearby. Finlay and Alexina (Alexandra's grandparents) often had her over for sleepovers and playdates when she was growing up. They taught her about Quidditch (Finlay had played for the Slytherin team all throughout his time at Hogwarts, from second to seven year) even though they weren't suposed to, and taught her some basic Scottish Gaelic, which greatly distressed Rick, who only fluently spoke English, and was often caught in conversation with his impish, stricly Scottish-speaking mother-in-law. At home, Alexandra loved to learn about snakes and turtles, even putting wooden board outside for them to live under, and killing the grass in the process. When her mother taught her about dragons, she became deeply passionate about them, as well. Alexandra's mom was a Gryffindor, and both her grandparents were Slytherins; her dad is a Muggle immigrant from America—Oregon, to be specific.
First instance of Magic (FioM): While playing outside, when she was about 10, Alexandra managed to magic her family's pet pitbull, Rupert, up a tree in her backyard. Her mother, Maristella, got the poor dog back down, with some difficulties and a number of scratches. But, regardless, she was happy to see Alexandra wasn't a Squib after all, as she had been thinking she might be up until that point.

2. You need to expand your backstory. Your backstory needs to be 220 words, not including your first instance of magic. yours is 160.

Ivory, born in a quiet town near Liverpool called Kirkby, is the second child of the Wizard family Stubbs. She's been raised, just like her parents, pretty traditionally though her parents were more openminded then other wizarding families. That is why Ivory turned about the age of three, they moved to a town a bit further from the pressures of the wizarding society. Her parents ( named Phideas Stubbs and Dahlia Greengrass ) wanted to give her and her sister a well earned chance of growing up without all of the harsh opinions they push onto young witches and wizards, a chance of creating their own opinions without it being poisoned by outside perspectives.
Though Ivory was only three and didn't suffer any consequences of the move, her sister was about eight and she unfortunately did. Rowena already made friends with children from other wizarding families that lived close by, and due to the busy lives both of their parents lived they there was barely any time left to visit. For almost three whole years, until she enrolled into Hogwarts she sat in an active rebellion phase; leading to many discussions and many nights that Ivory sat awake in bed because her parents were lecturing her sister. Though after she moved away for her enrollment, everything went back to its quiet 'normal'. And dare say, she missed her sister very much.
Ivory started to learn how to read about when she just turned 6, now with her sister gone and practically nobody to spend time with: her parents were quite glad she started to show interest in learning. That way Ivory hadn't come along with her mother to her shop, and she wouldn't annoy any costumers with her constant bickering. Soon a private teacher came over everyday, except for the weekends, to teach Ivory the basics. And so they quickly came to know that Ivory was an exceptionally fast learner, now almost only spending her time reading.

Her first sign of magic happened about she was the age of five. Her sister had broken her favorite toy broomstick by accident. Upset and teary, she held the pieces in her hands—and before anyone could comfort her, the broom floated into the air and magically fixed itself. Her parents were delighted, especially since it happened a little more earlier than usual.

Nicholas Lazarus was born at 11:43am 20 of March 2014. He is white, with an assortment of light freckles peppering his skin from his cheeks and across his nose down to his neck and shoulders, with bright green eyes and black hair, very similar in appearance to his mother Magdalene with the exception of his green eyes, which he inherited from his father Richard Lazarus.
His mother Magdalene is a very well renowned dancer and singer, who has toured across England and Scotland and also visited Japan quite often for a few weeks at the time. In one of those trips, long before Nicholas was born, she met an artist named Aya Kimura, a halfblood witch who soon became her best friend and soon confidant. When Nicholas was born, Magdalene made Aya his godmother, which she was delighted about.
Every time she would visit, she would bring Nicholas an assortment of origamis which she had learned from her muggle mother when she was a child, she ended up teaching him the art and now he loves making little paper flowers to decorate his surroundings with.
His father Richard was much of a quiet man, mostly kept for himself although captivated by his wife’s singing voice and artistic loud personality. so opposite of his own. Despite his stoic demeanor, he truly loves his family more than anything in the world, just has a hard time expressing it.
Living in a Manor on the calm chilly northwest of England village of Weaverham, Nicholas grew up mostly isolated from any other young kids his age, being only able to connect with his parents, his godmother and his tutor Mrs.Hazelbell who would teach him all the necessary for a young wizard his age, like how to write and how to read.
Because of that simple life, Nicholas is an overall loving but lonely boy, with a tendency of not taking in social cues as well as his peers and not being the epitome of social interactions. Despite that, he tries his best to be friendly and cherish the friends he does manage to acquire in his life.

It had been a while since his mother had participated on a dance recital, and Nicholas wasn't truly sure why. He was only 6 years old, but even he knew his mother wouldn't spend so long in the house, just sitting around silently, not singing, not dancing from place to place. His father had told him that his mom was going through a rough patch, and that they needed to be very delicate and caring towards her. The house felt cold and grey when his mom was sad, the primroses peppered across the house also seemed sad, many of them already withering away.
To try making his mother happier, Nicholas tried to water the plants himself, like she had done before with the old green watering can she kept on the top shelf in the living room. What a mess that was, he toppled a couple of the decorative flower pots from it trying to reach for it, and it was sheer luck he hadn't been hurt from the falling ceramics.
His mother alarmed rushed for Nicholas while he cried on the floor, when he explained his plan, just to make her happy, he saw his mother smile for the first time in weeks, hugging him tightly and thanking him for his efforts regardless. Then she gave a little gasp that startled him again, and when he asked, she told him that he didn't need to water the plants at all. Because he had made them bloom right then and there.

Why is this character trying for this role?:
I believe this would be a fun role for Taiki, and coming to him in character would be good plus logical, as his grandmother is a werewolf. It would have to make Taiki shield from the full moon, but he still has astronomy and that to keep him company whenever he gets the chance to gaze at it if he can see it, as stars and all that has always kept him company when his friends couldn't. It also kinda fits him, for despite the aggression in werewolf form, it keeps his almost cozy and fluffy(As Lex describes it-) aesthetic alive in the process, letting him almost partially be himself. As described himself, the fluffy fur could match his friendly vibe as well. He has plans to control it too. It probably wouldn't go as he planned though unless he had the wolfsbane handy, as being his usual self, he had planned to kind of keep himself snuggled in a blanket with a few plushies or something near that, being for he had always done that with it being successful to calm himself down whenever he wasn't in a good mood. Speaking of how his grandmother had it, it was almost like it was a thing that skipped generations due to how... uniquely the attacks happened... His grandmother had it, great-great-grandfather had it, and so on... He found it weird how it went in that pattern, yet never questioned it. I honestly thought that aside from the aggression, it was cool having werewolves around. Taiki also has a thing for mythology and studying all the unique magical creatures around the area as well as at Hogwarts, so he believes that the knowledge of werewolves he already has could come into help and support in case they ever need it to help them out. They probably know about all that already know. I mean, they did do this for years, so who's to doubt? Despite the struggles that could happen, he wants to give them a try... It seems to give him a way to fit in better too, helping other werewolves along the way. He's willing to put into effort for whatever happens and do whatever is told to control himself. He knows the risks and is willing to listen to keep them from happening. He knows the school can keep everyone safe, and he trusts them too. He'd let himself take in the shrieking shack if he had to, as long as it kept everyone safe... This could enhance the experience of H.io for Taiki, and others coming along the way as well, as sure, he may be kept away during the full moons, but he also has the time to embrace his werewolf side, letting it be a good part of him whenever he actually can control it. Taiki was about eight when this happened, as he had been wandering out of the house due to being told he couldn't go to the park with his friends at night. As they snuck out, they had gotten lost, Taiki ending up on his own. Unaware of what lurked, he had kept wandering.... What happened next had changed his life, as that when the werewolf came! The poor boy was practically traumatized as he was fighting for his life. If it wasn't for his quick thinking to throw a rock in the opposite direction to distract it, he would've been a goner. Since then, he hadn't trusted going outside at night alone since. It took quite a while to get him comfortable again.
Challenges may come, but Taiki is one who likes to overcome challenges, and this could be one of them, bringing some fun along the way. Through highs and lows, he's ready to be a part of this group, make friends along the way, and overcome challenges. This concludes my/his application for the werewolf special race.
Character Backstory:
Taiki had been born in Japan to his father, Ishii Yuto, or as viewed here, Yuto Ishii, and his mother, Jasmine Young. The two had met while Jasmine was on a trip to Japan. One thing after another, they had started getting closer and closer, soon getting married and having Taiki. From the start, he had met Lex, the two being friends ever since. Now at Hogwarts from Ireland, as his mother got a job there and his father followed there for a job, the two are still friends, even if they are in separate houses. It surprised Taiki that Lex had gotten Gryffindor, as they all, meaning his family, Yeseong, and some of Lex's friends. expected them to be a Slytherin if not a Hufflepuff. Taiki had expected to be in Ravenclaw himself. He isn't arguing though, as Slytherin is pretty cool. His father was the muggle while his mother was the one with a magical history, being a Pure-blood. The time she had met his father was against her will with her parents, one half-blood, one Pure-blood like her. She didn't like leaving for muggles, but was happy when she found Yuto... The two don't even know about Taiki's small crush on Lex or that he's pan... All they know is that he and Lex are practically blood deep due to their strong friendship. It had been a good time of traveling from Japan to the U.S., whether jobs, trips, or just something random... It was like a dream when he finally made it to Ireland and got his letter, no longer having to go back and forth every year or so... He's grateful to all the teachers and excited for all the friends he's going to make, bringing us to where he got put... "SLYTHERIN!"
First Instance of Magic: Taiki's family had been on a trip to visit a friend. He hadn't known this would be his moment though... During this trip, he had had a rather uncomfortable moment. Trying to calm down, he had gone to his ferret, Kasumi. He didn't know how it happened, as when letting her roam around, the mini play pen he had her in vanished. It took quite a bit of work getting her back to her cage for the meantime, but he managed to do it.

-please talk more about Taiki's life before Hogwarts, like why did his family move to Ireland if he was born in Japan?
-his werewolf application should be about how Taiki became a werewolf, not how it fits him. How and where did Taiki encounter a werewolf? How did he survive? what was the experience of a werewolf attack like for him?
STATUS: Pending - Koko, 24/06
- please edit out the mentions of Taiki being a born werewolf. do remember that the application would still have to be 500 words. once that is done, please owl me and/or another Index member so we can quickly review the edit.
