Physical Description: Alaric is gangly and pale with dark curly hair and soulful brown eyes. He never tans, but only gets more freckles the more time he spends in the sun. He's on the short end for his year. He often has bags under his eyes from staying up late reading.
Mental Description: Alaric is bookish and quiet, though often prone to loud arguments when he feels someone is incorrect about something. As he puts it, he would want to know if he were wrong, so why shouldn't they? This gets him in trouble when he starts these arguments with adults in his life, though. Alaric is often nervous in new situations, though he adapts quickly, and before long it is as if he had always been comfortable and in charge, though this can lead to friction with peers.
Biography: Before Hogwarts Alaric lived a charmed life with a large family including his mother, siblings, and grandparents, as well as a passel of aunts, uncles, and cousins who were often in and out of the family estate. He doesn't know his father, though. His father and mother did something nearly unspeakable in Pureblood society and separated. His father then moved away before he was born, and his mother moved him and his siblings back in to her parents' estate. His grandparents stepped up to help his mother raise him and his siblings. Alaric has never met his father, and his mother doesn't like to talk about him. She only states that they were different people than they were when they got married, and that it was for the best. As Alaric was well loved and got most of the things he wanted, everything he needed, and didn't want for attention, he was mostly satisfied with that answer. It's only been as he has gotten older that he's felt a desire to meet the man who sired him, though he isn't sure how he would go about it. His mother, grandparents, and older siblings doted on him, though he often felt smothered with all the attention, so he would slip away to read outside whatever chance he got.
First Instance of Magic: As far as first instances of magic go, Alaric's was nothing special. He had been playing outside when he was five and wandered a little ways away from his mother when he tripped and fell. He scraped his knee and began to cry, but by the time his mother caught up to him and began to wipe away the blood, the wound was completely healed.
