The Arrival Tea Party

Mathias quietly took a seat, folding his hands in front of him on the table. He was not particularly interested in the tea and crumpets or small talk. Bubba seemed to be getting on well with the growing crowd about Siobhan's table. Introductions, a bit late for the one where Siobhan introduced herself so her pre-existing (or lack thereof) relationship with Bubba was unknown.I'm only here so Winnie can come. I do not have anything of weight to add.
"Oh yeah, sure, as long as Siobhan has no objection."
That said, Bubba used the girls name during this brief exchange. A name, like many other things, he would dedicate to memory.
"Wait, do you know her too?"
But he had to wonder how much memory Winnie had left. "Bubba just used her name a few seconds ago dear," he reminded her as he pulled out the seat for her. How much memory portion had he given her in those thermoses over the years he wondered.
Bubba would perform the introductions, "Siobhan this is Winnie, a fellow Ravenclaw."
At least he got a peck for his troubles. "Mathias Pride, Slytherin," he announced he he took a seat. No real details about the sort of man he was, his ambitions or his ideals. That was Winnie's job, to be the social butterfly he could not bother to be. "Siobhan, you remind me of Winnie" he interjected. "I'm sure that you will be fast friends," he did not recognize the girl from any pureblooded social circles or her name for that matter as he filed it away. He wondered if she was a muggleborn or a wizardborn, not that he could be bothered to ask. He assumed a heavy dose of muggle considering how Magi America here (Bubba) seemed to be getting on well with her also. Not that he knew for certain that Bubba was a muggleborn either for that matter, it was just a presumption because the young man made no sense. He wished that there was a camera present for this scene. This would look good in the Athanatos scrap book he mused.
"Please forgive any oversight, Winnie is recovering from a recent injury and her memory is not what it used to be," he continued. The reason was two-fold, first he was able to cast doubt on any fantastical claim she might make. To second was to tether the pink girl to hm further, to remind her of her limitations and her need under the guise of civility and conversation. "We expect a full recovery," he lied.

Aamon swung, missed and somehow hit himself in the face.
Of course, the girl came to some wild assumptions of her own as his offer to draw as a means to communicate was taken as abandonment rather than conceited effort to make a human connection. The girl had issues, but what girl in the wizarding world didn't?
He had no idea she thought he was a twat.
That she was mad at him.
That she was relieved when a girl showed up.
But in Maria's defense, Aamon was happy too. He had no issue with the concept of surrounding himself with pretty girls and enjoying the sights.
“I can speak English. Thank you for…your concern,” Maria announced. She did not seem particularly happy about it, but Aamon did not think too deeply on the matter as he brightened.
"Ah right," he smiled. "I was afraid you only spoke Spanish or Italian or something," he admitted. He had no idea where Maria was from, but her voice was (assumedly) accented, suggesting that it was not her native tongue but he did not delve any further.
“My name is Maria Almeida,” she announced. The name sounded French to Aamon. He had no idea what a kimono was. To him she was wearing some fancy dress. "Aamon" he repeated eagerly, having said his name already he repeated it just for good measure.
His cup would fill in front of his, but he would not take a drink. Not this time Matt he thought tp himself.
“Linda! I really like that name! In Chinese we have a name Li Na. It sound similar. I like that name. This is my first time to France, and you guys? But pardon me, Aamon was just explaining that he is a master artist. Isn’t that right? He was going to start drawing for me.”
Aamon's face reddened. "Actually, I am a terrible artist," he admitted as he scratched the back of his head. "I just wanted to be able to talk to you and did not expect everyone here to know English," which is super convenient. He pulled out a small slip of paper and his self-filling quill and drew a stick figure waving his hand. It was in fact not even a good stick figure, utterly talentless. "So I can skip the embarrassing myself that way and find a fresh way to regret everything." He laughed nervously.

“Come on, come on!” Emily said excitedly. She had Casey following her quickly, her hand tightly holding his as the two of them made their way to the tea party organised by the staff. A few groans and grumbles coming from Casey reached her ears, all of which she gleefully ignored. A little time together would do him good. Emily noticed that he was a little more reserved about taking part in events this time round. She couldn’t blame him, not after the Hogsmeade bombing. She assured him ever since leaving their cabin that she would stick close to him. Safety in numbers, as it were. And if she alone wasn't enough, Casey could lean on Scout, now that they were buddies and all.
After taking Casey on a run around of the Beauxbatons garden with her, scrutinising and admiring every flower and vine that decorated the campus like a frantic tourist (more so than any normal tourist), Emily finally dragged Casey into the dining room where other guests were already in attendance for the tea party.
The pair of them stood and looked around the room. Food was stretched out across the tables, leaving no one short of options with the selection laid out for the guests. Music that neither of them had heard before filled the gaps of silence in the room.
“Let’s sit over there!” Emily said, pulling Casey with her. She brushed off another one of his remarks as they made their way over before sitting down at a table on the far end of the room, finally letting go of him. She watched as Casey sat down with her, sitting on the opposite chair and facing her.
“Jesus…”. Emily watched Casey rub his hand. “You’ve got a helluva grip. But why weren’t you draggin’ Scout with us? You guys are best friends right?” he asked her.
Emily shrugged. “I figured Scout would want to try and patch things up with Zyair first. Those two are as close as you and I are,” she answered him. “I’m sure she misses his company, even if she won’t admit it”.
Emily smiled hopefully at him. “But we’ll save a spot for both of them. We all have a lot of catching up to do!”
She looked at the snackies on the table behind Casey. “So! What should we try first?”

“Emily! Would you-- Hey-- I’m gonna trip over ya if you don’t let go!”
Casey had his eyes on the ground as he tried to avoid knocking into the back of Emily’s heels as she pulled him along across the castle grounds. He was already nearly out of breath after the second lap around the garden where Emily had pulled and yanked him to look at every flower bed and vine decorating the school garden.
Looking behind him, he could just about see the cabin before it disappeared completely from his view. He knew Emily expressed interest in wanting to go to this tea party thingy. He was going for her rather than himself, having been put off by the vast majority of other events after nearly getting blown up whilst travelling to Hogwarts before Christmas. But he knew he was in safe company, being with her, Scout and their cabin mates. Even Cursa seemed like a face he could colour in good faith.
He nearly fell on top of her when they stopped in the middle of the Beauxbatons dining room. While Emily’s face was of pure excitement and wonder, Casey’s was nonchalant, though he did appreciate the effort gone into the whole affair. More or less.
“It’s a bit overly flowery in here, don’t ya think?” he asked. Emily’s answer never came when Casey felt her tug his arm again. He stumbled as she led him over to a vacant table. Casey whinged.
“For crissakes, Em. At least warn me before ya go pullin’ on my arm like that!”
He sighed when she at long last let go of him. He collapsed in the chair opposite her when they both sat down.
“Jesus… You’ve got a helluva grip. But why weren’t you draggin’ Scout with us? You guys are best friends right?”
“I figured Scout would want to try and patch things up with Zyair first. Those two are as close as you and I are,” Emily responded.
Casey nodded. He could get it. He remembered the drama Scout threw at him when they had their chat after the Autumn Ball. She liked Zyair. Zyair liked her. It was understandable that she might want to go see him first before she’d join them here in the dining room.
“Well, just try and tone down the hyperactive excitement until she gets here. I doubt she'd find it any easier to keep up with ya than I did if you keep runnin' around”.
“So! What should we try first?”
“Not sure. But I’ll go look. I know what you like”.
He got up from the table and perused the snacks along the table nearby. He knew Emily like chocolate and nutty things. He’d look out for things like that. One would never think given his moody exterior, but he did try to impress when it came to his buddies.
With Emily being his closest version of a "best friend", he would always be at her side. That would never change.
He settled on a chocolate looking cupcake. He knew that'd make her happy.
"Sweet".

Dennis was halfway through the mountain of a croissant formerly know as “Mt. France” to the Ravenclaw when a familiar face flopped down beside him. Dennis nearly choked on what he was chewing, so engrossed in the process was he. “Meyra” Dennis mumbled through a full mouth, covering it so that no flakes got on her. He swallowed hard and then flashed her his trademark smile…this time with flakes of croissant in his teeth. “Hey! I was surprised I’m here too! I don’t do Valentines things but France has amazing food! Please, have some!” He motioned to the table teaming with pastries.
His cabin mate arrived next, Minnie. He didn’t really know much about her yet but she seemed nice and sweet - must be a Hufflepuff. Come to think of it Hufflepuff students were kind of like French croissants…RIP Mt. France. Dennis looked at his still half eaten delicacy and then back at Minnie. “Hey, Minnie! Sit down and help us with all of this!” He motioned for the other seat beside him. It would be weird to offer a seat further.
As he was finishing, yet another guest arrived. This time Dennis looked to Meyra and then back at the table full of his favorite snacks and seemed to be concentrating. He was going to need more food if the people kept coming. He just really grabbed enough for him…and his gigantic gullet (there is in fact enough to go around)! “Hi, Tracey! This is Meyra! And yeah grab a seat! What is your favorite food so far?”
Satisfied that the table was full and not even registering he was sitting with only girls, Dennis finished off Mt. France and grabbed a cookie. He shoved that in his mouth hoping that someone else would talk for awhile since he really just wanted to put himself into a sugar coma for the rest of the day. However, he had one last guest as he put the cookie in his mouth.
A student with very interesting hair came over. He had never seen a boy so pretty in his life. He definitely wasn’t British like them. Not with those cheekbones. “H-hey!” Dennis stuttered at the interloper, cookie crumbs spilling everywhere. “Y-yes, please sit! I’m Dennis.” He said absolutely forgetting the rest of his famous intro. He looked to the girls to make sure it was ok, only after he agreed to have the pretty boy sit. He forced himself to swallow the cookie and regained his composer. He introduced the table in order of arrival. “This is Meyra, she’s the cool one. This is Minnie, she’s the sweet one. This is Tracey.”

The Arrival Tea Party
Mentioning Gellert Schroeder (@Tristan Theramin)
So, Beauxbatons was finally being the host for once. Maxi thrust his hands into his pockets and wandered down the hallways, nodding at those exhilarated faces he was acquainted with, all hyped by the once-in-a-blue-moon event. It sounded a little cliché to spend Valentine’s in France, but he guessed that was the spirit, and Maxi definitely wasn’t going to complain. In fact, his footsteps were light, and his waves were enthusiastic—okay, to be frank, who wasn’t in a Valentine’s in France?
Earlier that day, when he descended the eastern tower and strode into the gardens, Maxi almost immediately sensed the holiday in the air. Madame de la Croix-Valmer really knew her thing. He had ventured deeper into the lavish court, grinning at the sight of the Pegasus statue, then taken some time to admire the fountains and flowerbeds, before taking the path to the broom racing tower. Almost six years of school, and he was still madly in love with this place. And it was even prettier when it was festive.
By the time the foreign schools announced their arrival, he would already be in the dining hall with other local students. Honestly speaking, Maxi wasn’t really expecting a romantic encounter during the event—the exquisite cuisines, festive atmosphere, extraordinary art exhibition, and a few friendship opportunities were already exciting enough. Although apart from all these, there was indeed someone whom he was expecting to see. His summer camp friend Gellert Schroeder wrote about him coming along with his fellow Durmstrangs, and Maxi willingly opted to be his host. Well, he couldn’t really host him in his own dorms, and unfortunately Maxi liked it too much to move into a cabin, so it was more of a guide thing. Okay, so he’d show him the gardens, the maze, the gallery, and the Abraxan horses, which was a must-see and worth a sneak-in, oh and maybe the broom racing tower, from the outside—no, not the interior—Gellert would be an opponent on track, after all.
He eyed the table, delighted to see that a wide array of food and drinks were served. French cuisine was much better than what they had in Britain, in his opinion, and this was the time to give the foreign students who were so used to Hogwarts feasts a little French surprise. Speaking of Hogwarts, his cousin Lindsey seemed to have changed her mind on visiting him and their other cousins, cancelling her schedule at the last moment. He wasn’t sure what exactly caused her to adopt second thoughts, but she did sound distressed and bothered when she informed him of it, and that was very much unlike herself. Maxi sighed a little thinking of her—and Hogwarts. Oh, Hogwarts…
He half-closed his eyes, trying to get away from the mixed feelings he had about that school positioned on the Scottish Highlands. Shifting his focus back to the food, Maxi poured himself a cup of black tea and reached out for a macaron with raspberry filling, thoughtfully munching on it. The music started flowing in the background, tender humming easing him a little. As he sipped his tea, Maxi gazed attentively at the entrance, ready to catch Gellert’s attention (which meant waving frantically), attempting to intercept him as soon as he set his foot in the hall.

Pam sighed in relief as the boy accepted Pam smiled at the two, accepting Mateo's outstretched hand in a shake. "It's nice to meet you." She said, "I'm Pamela Graham." She turned to Avery, and said with a laugh, "It's been a while right? It's good to see you again."
She glanced at the chocolate covered table in front of her, overcome with the desire to have another one. Was there a way for her to stuff her face without looking like she had been deprived of said delicacy? She shook her head, she was being silly. It was all thanks to her father that she had got it into her head that purple was a royal color.
Although, as far as she knew, it was true.
She sneaked another one of the gooey sweets from the table, popping it into her mouth deftly, before she asked Mateo, "Which school are you from?" She was decently sure he wasn't from Hogwarts. Atleast, Pam hoped he wasn't because it would be a little embarrassing to ask that question to someone who was supposed to go to the same school as her. She was pretty sure she had never met him before, but then again, she was not good at remembering faces.

Beauxbatons Academy of Magic is surely massive compared to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. If Aurelia had been impressed by how large and how ancient the castle looks from both inside and outside, the French Wizarding School is more different—in a way that she could not justify a description. Whilst dragging Mamori Anezaki, hand-in-hand, the curly-haired badger commented on everything she saw. With a twinkle in her deep brown eyes, it is definitely another side of Aurelia that others does not have the pleasure to meet; the child-like wonder she has whenever she deemed something as avant-garde, especially in terms of magic, comparing both the Muggle World and the Wizarding World. Some of her wispy, long curls are smacking on Mamori's face as Aurelia swivelled her head left to right, digesting all the information the surroundings offered to her. “Oh, can you see that statue, Anezaki? That's a winged horse! I've read all about it in the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Have you read that textbook? Anyway, as the name suggests, they are horses with wings and could fly! Most fascinating of them all are the Thestrals, if you ask me. If you do not know what that is, they are skeletal winged-horses, and invisible to the naked eye unless one had witnessed death and acknowledged it. They are very rare, considered dangerous and somewhat perceived as a bad omen by other wizarding folks because it also represented the existence and intangibility of death. This statue here must be an Abraxan! What with the bronze representation, of course... Look, there is a pond in there! Now, I wonder, why does Hogwarts lack ponds? We are so closed off and the Forbidden Forest plus the Great Lake actually adds to the depressing aura of the Scottish Highlands. If you compare the two, this looks straight from Heaven—do you know Heaven? Come to think of it, is theology relevant in the Wizarding World? Perhaps we should talk about it in another day or I could check out books in the Hogwarts Library to confirm... Wow, these hedges are beautiful. They rarely do this in the Muggle World as it requires intricate skill in trimming—do you think house-elves trimmed these hedges into animals? I wonder if they are getting paid, they should be, of course... Oh, look, Anezaki!” Aurelia's usual haughtiness has entirely disappeared, only filled with wondrous curiosity as she pointed to everywhere, urging the pink-haired badger beside her to look at what she was talking about. She did not regard the possibility that Mamori must be weary and drained by her constant chattering, which is already a surprise as the raven-haired badger is usually silent and always keeps to herself. She did not let him go; if Mamori would attempt to break away, her hand gripped his as though he would disappear if she wasn't holding him. Why is she with Mamori Anezaki anyway? It is the only way to cope. After the overdosed Hufflepuffs have been admitted in the Hospital Wing, Aurelia checked out books about what to do if a friend was just discharged from the hospital or if a person has just suffered from convulsions. The majority suggested monitoring, and so the young badger had taken it upon herself to monitor Mamori Anezaki—out of guilt, perhaps. So she dragged Mamori out of their cottage cabin in fear that he'd dip out of the tea party, in fear that he'd be alone and no one would be there watching. What if the mysterious potion has aftereffects and he convulses again, with no one around to help him this time? She left Mamori no choice but to be with her side all throughout the party. Plus, Ruth had left the cabin with Janosch; she did not want to intrude, and she also would prefer not to be alone. But the biggest factor had been the idea of leaving Mamori alone is a no-go. Just for this one day, and she could rest easy. Aurelia, of course, attended the party in an ankle-length dark green dress, with puffs as sleeves and her arms sporting elbow-length gloves. She was never against dresses; her mom made sure of that by dressing her almost every week. The young badger never perceived herself as beautiful; however, she could agree that the dress looks presentable on her. She looks presentable; that's what's important. Her long, wispy raven curls are cascading down her back, the dazzling dark green barrettes pinning some of her rebellious hair, but to no avail since it might have disappeared within the curls. She decided right in front of the mirror that she looked like the Wicked Witch of the West; for originality, now she can be called the Wicked Witch of the Woods instead. She cackled in front of the mirror that day. Upon entrance in the dining chamber, Aurelia took a greedy lungful of air as they are enveloped with different aromas and scents, the fragrance of the desserts and the brewing tea combining satisfyingly to her taste. She had never attended a tea party before, nevertheless she preferred drinking tea over coffee. The sight of other students gathering like ants and engaging to each other made her heart skip a beat. She might prefer tea but she will never prefer gatherings that requires socialising. Actually wishing that she would never have to engage to a conversation with someone unless it's Ruth, Pamela, or the badger she is currently dragging everywhere with her, Aurelia settled in one of the empty tables, her hands already clasped together as her deep brown eyes sparkled upon the sight of the macaroons. |

Roleplaying as Hans Jenssen
Eyes snapping upwards to meet Astrid's at her arrival his instincts screamed at him for how unprepared he felt at the absolute force of nature a sheepish smile was quickly stretched into that usual confident grin. Ignoring the creeping heat on his cheeks “Hi Astrid! I'm doing...” flustered Hans began a search for words until he finally chose one out of haste, “I'm doing fantastic! I'm really glad you came.” Feeling the self-assured mask slip out of place he fixed it back and scolded at the damned thing to stay there as the compliment changed, “You look great.” The dress, after all, was hardly the centre of his attention as intent eyes stayed on her face.
Noticing Astrid's unwavering gaze on the sweet delights set out before them Hans returned the smile, “This looks so much better than whatever Hogswarts fed us, no?” Then he had been too overwhelmed in a mixture of shock and fear to think about food, but it was true that the bright colours at least looked more appealing than the dull wartime rations the Scottish school served as an interactive experience. Leaving the pink macaron Astrid had been eying to her he tried an arbitrarily picked one. The cookie was not a treat he commonly had, they were overly sweet and not to mention ridiculously expensive for the small size they came in. In short, after having one post-competition he found little interest in the crumbly, flavoured sugar, but whether out of courtesy or hopes that this one would taste better, he found himself biting down on it nonetheless.
Trying to suppress a cringe as he gulped it down it was beautiful how too much sugar now became the most of his worries. Laughing, he said, “I don't regret not having eaten these for most of my life.” To put it in the most Beuaxbatons-worthy, romantic words was that the fluttering in his heart would forever outweigh the sweetness in pastries.

The Arrival Tea Party
Date: February 12th 2025There was something of a shame in the way Nabi seemed to stiffen under the presence of new folk, especially when they were as friendly as Ruth. Still he wouldn't draw attention to it, many people, himself included, were terrible at interaction in larger groups and they had bonded over their shared invisible quality that had apparently disappeared for the evening.
From shooting glances from Aamon and the introduction of Ruth and her friend it seemed they were bound for socialisation tonight whether they wished it or not. Unlike the girl next to him Matthew positively lit up as Ruth came over, their friendship was one he most cherished for the simplicity and joy she brought every interaction. There was certainly never a dull moment between them but more than that they understood each other in a way most of the Hogwarts brood could never. He would never say she was a replacement for Rowan, that would hurt too much and be unfair to the radiant soul she was herself but occasionally it did feel that way.
The young snake couldn't help but supress a laugh into his fist as Nabi struggled to introduce herself so informally, but appreciated the effort nonetheless. Matthew couldn't say he recognised the boy that was with them but Park seemed to know his name before he introduced himself and being the curious chid he was paired with the thrill of the drama they had just shared he couldn't help but wonder how. "Me?! Enjoying myself I would never dream of doing such things without you Ruth. Don't suppose you've worked out where the greenhouses are yet!" Shooting her a wink as he spoke with a grin spreading through his whole body. It was most intriguing observing the heiress next to him try to make small talk and while he could easily help he was rather devilishly excited to watch her have to cope with Ruth's natural warmth alone.
Turning to the boy instead he exchanged his grin to a pleasant smile though the glint in his eyes still illuminated with mischief. "Hey man, I'm pretty sure we haven't met but my minds been a bit all over the place recently. I'm Matthew or Matt even Matty, whatever suits really, how do you know the girls?" Taking a small sip from his tea once more and managing to actually swallow this time though not without struggle for he was quite sure that out of the corner of her eye, Nabi was watching him to make sure he didn't have a second episode. It had taken great mental resistance to hold it in but the pair didn't need anyone else getting hold of Aamon's rumour mill.
