Camp, 2023 Summer Duels, Game 7: Slytherin vs Guests

How the table have turned for the next round. It was not the snakes this time to have the stroke of bad lucks, it was their opponent. One have their spell backfired another got struck by her lightning. Overall, not a bad round, although she wasn’t doing anything particularly useful. The blonde was a little overwhelmed by last round that she didn’t even cast a spell. Other than what happened, it was a pretty quiet round, as only 1 duelist on each team who manage to cast something.

	----- S ome luck! A stray tuft of silky black hair swept into view; the result of a fruitful blast that tore through the air and struck his chosen victim. Happy with himself, he swept it out of his eyes with a simple and refined gesture; his now unburdened vision scrupulously sizing Maila up, and their opponents. Instinctively, his dark eyes shot to Pea, who he seemed to have some kind of respect for; someone he could call peer; especially following Duvessa’s performance. ”One last rally, Miss Fowl, and the day will be ours.” He gave, in the usual calm and detached tone, as if Maila’s miscast was the breathing room they needed.

This round definitely went worse than the last. Avery's spell hit her hard and to make matters worse, her own Flipendo that was directed at Avery, fired back at her. She landed rather unfortunate and to be completely honest, Maila was not feeling her best anymore. Wiping the dirt off of her, Maila got back up and stood beside her team. The Finish girl was not in a great mood anymore, which you could definitely see. She was gritting her teeth as she got back into position.

"Get over it Maila, we need to focus or handing them their victory." Klaus said in a calm voice, trying to bring some cold plaster to the curly-haired girl's visible and growing temper, although he must admit that wasn't his best feature. He couldn't blame her tho, this round had been particularly bitter to her. "Perhaps you should buy a new wand? Yours seem to not be that collaborative with your wishes!" He said with a mocking smirk.
Looking at Reuben, Klaus nodded, sharing a look that promised to cause some menace next round. Or so he hoped for it!

Reuben had ended up taking a small break to gather some energy. Apparently not the best idea, though, he realized after he was struck by a bolt of lightning. So, the heavens had decided to take the "gathering energy" part seiously.

He looked at his teammates. The girl, Maila seemed to be having a really hard time. Her spell had backfired and she had also been hit by another spell. Besides, the others did not seem to be treating her all that well either. He gave her an encouraging smile, "Hey, it's okay, try to breathe and calm yourself down", he said. He then looked at Klaus, sharing the same look. Hopefully this round would be better than the last one.

Compared to the last round, this was all guns blazing! Nearly every duellist would fire a spell. Miss Fowl was the only one to be different. Her Incendio Duo, although fiery hot, didn't hit. Reuben was too nimble, avoiding the spells hot blast. He wouldn't be so lucky with Peas' active partner, Mr Leveret, or even the dark, foreboding cloud above his team. Avery's spell would blast home, hitting Reuben squarely in the chest. The quick, sure-fired strike of lightening would seem to finish him off. Down the boy went. Perhaps that was what made Ruebens team mate, Niklaus miss. The sudden shock of a downed team mate was always a bit staggering. Maila didn't seem fazed by it though, pitching her own flipendo into the mix and hitting Duvessa, who was off with the fairies. Time was called so poor Rueben could be carried off before the signal was given that the game could recommence.

	----- D ing, ding, ding. His spell had coursed through the air, a streamlined rapture of magical energy sent forth in a bolt of an almost witch-light blue. Unnerving was the colour, but also the clear desire to win that performed a calculated dance across his features. Every act, every movement, every non-movement, was intentional. He had finally arrived into what was the place of mental clarity. The rhythm of the duel was the one place he felt most comforted, and with the brain fog gone, he could see clearly now. The strike against Reuben went as expected, and he didn't seem to react as he might have otherwise done. He offered nothing but a proprietary lift of his brow as he thought about the new variables, as though this result was entirely expected , as the duel began to unfold exactly as he had intended it to. Duvessa was out for the count, seemingly, and now so was Reuben. He had dodged Pea's thrown spell, but her Meteleojinx fractured the dueling space with a blinding arc of lightning which struck him down, the perfect follow up to his strike. A rousing smile came upon him as he looked towards the one teammate that was actually doing something. ”Excellent. We have something they don't, Miss Fowl. The poise that comes with class. - I have no doubt that we are of one, strategic mind.” He gave, a small hint of arrogance found its way to the corner of his smirk.

When everything fails, her last resort is simply to strike her opponent. Her form was perfect, elegant, and poised. Its just that silly boy manage to dodge it like a slippery slug. What a pity, she would like to set them ablaze, perhaps the fire would also catch on their team mate. Nevertheless, it was her lighting that manage to finish him off in the end, with the help of her more trusty partner of course. Leveret, as usual, proof to be more reliable than the certain dark haired girl.

But the round did not end there, the other slugs manage to strike her when she wasn’t paying attention. Another Knockback Jinx, they are certainly not on the creative side. Panting the blonde still get backs up with a raised eyebrow. “Is that perhaps the only spell you lot learned at school?” Smirking as usual.

While Maila shared a smile with Reuben, completely missing that he had been hit with lightning, she very much wished to show Klaus her middle finger. While he was not doing any better than she was, he could not suppress his comment. Buy a new wand. As if that had anything to do with her performance. Her concentration was not fully in the game anymore, which proved itself as incredibly inconvenient and weak-looking.

Regardless of her doubts and slightly aching body, Maila's next attack hit her target right away. It was not like Duvessa was doing anything though. Easy target. Maila watched Klaus's attack miss and the bitter taste of mean words spread through her mouth. She swallowed them and took a deep breath as the Slytherin boy spoke his arrogant words.

And then the lightning hit. A crashing white light rained down on her team mate after he had just evaded the older Slytherin students spell. The shock almost made her stomach flip. Maila's eyes were wide, focused on Reuben who was knocked out on the floor.

This was not just bad luck anymore, this game felt more like a nightmare at this point.
