Emily was born on 8th September 2011 to a pure muggle family. She grew up in Belfast under the care of her maid while her parents spent long periods of time away from home due to their demanding work (her mother as a fashion designer, her father as a businessman). Her mother would be home once a week while her father would visit only twice a year. She thrived both at home and in primary school, surrounded by good friends and had learnt to be a down-to-earth person, as her parents' absence didn't mean the forced wealthy standards she would've been subjected to had it not been for her maid. However, due to the repercussions of her parents' work, she'd often switch between schools in Belfast and London. Despite it all thanks to her maid's guidance - whom she affectionately calls "Auntie" - she has become kind, compassionate and a keen reader, often borrowing books from libraries to satisfy her desire for knowledge.
She encountered her first instance of magic when she was 10, where at school she was picked on for how she dressed and for her family's wealth. A sudden outburst of frustration caused a nearby mirror to shatter to pieces without anyone getting hurt. She received her letter to Hogwarts not long afterwards. On the train ride to Hogwarts, she would study the textbooks she had to buy for compulsory study in order to better understand the Wizarding World, as she had little to no prior knowledge and wished to know more. She also managed to make a friend along the way there - Emmanuel Bourne - bonding over their similarities between familial backgrounds and learning more about the Wizarding World through their experience. At the Sorting Ceremony of 2023/24, she was Sorted into the House of Hufflepuff and was thus a formally registered student at Hogwarts

Emily is also the grandchild of Isaac and Loretta Pond (her mother's parents) and Markus and Thea Shephard (her father's parents). Thea unfortunately passed away due to cancer when Arthur left Secondary school at age 18 and once he left for university, Markus became estranged and later disappeared. Isaac and Loretta's whereabouts are also currently unknown as Patricia has hinted in the past that relations broke down between her and her parents before Emily was born (Small Note: I can happily provide any OOC info on them if need be - their occupation and reason for their distancing has been left out for IC knowledge/reasons.).
Patricia and Arthur both met in primary school as childhood friends and slowly fell in love over the course of their teen years. They got married after graduating from the same university together before eventually moving to Belfast where Emily was born - however due to their sudden workload in their newfound careers they needed someone to look after her in their stead.
With Patricia's parents and Arthur's father unavailable, Emily grew up in Belfast primarily under the care of Nora Russell, a former primary school teacher who took the job of looking after her ever since Emily was just two years old, while her parents spent long periods of time away from home due to their demanding work (her mother as a fashion designer, her father as an economic businessman). Her mother would be home once a week while her father would visit on very few occasions. Despite the family being well-off as a result of their work, neither her parents nor Emily herself boast about wealth or family expectations, instead focusing more on passion and following their hard-earn dreams - even if that meant Emily's parents being far from home to properly spend time with her much of the year, each year. Emily thrived both at home and in primary school, though while she had a good mix of friends there was some strain between her and some other of her classmates over her rather well-off background. In spite of that however, Emily grew up to be a compassionate individual, although her parents' extended absence had left her feeling somewhat neglected by them, instead finding parental love with Nora and affectionately calling her "Auntie" to both honour her position as a "nanny" of sorts as well as the fact that as far as Emily was concerned, she was a part of her family too. Emily's parents own a second residence in London where they once resided in as flatmates while they were still at university before Emily was born but has since become a "work space" for whenever either of them need it.
While they've been gone however, Emily has grown up kind, caring, humble and incredibly bookish, finding joy in reading, research and getting in touch with nature, developing an inquisitive mind and becoming an avid thinker.

Summary of Changes:
Reducio- Fleshing out Emily's parents a little more since I feel like I didn't really do that before.
- Added Emily's grandparents to her family tree - they haven't been introduced and/or RP'd yet but I just wanted to point out that they do indeed exist and will be brought into the story much later on. (Small Note: They've been mentioned in a different section of my ency ("Family") but have never been mentioned in any RPs nor any IC knowledge related to them - It only just occurred to me that I should probably formally add them here so I'm not unintentionally RP'ing something I shouldn't be in the future unless it was approved beforehand).
- Slightly tweaked FIoM - the magical aspect of it is the same, but the context behind it is different (I personally feel this newer version suits her story better).
- Omitted the notion that Em had to switch schools between London and Belfast prior to Hogwarts - none of that has been RP'd and it just doesn't really serve a purpose to Em's story. In my opinion it's better off left out.
- Just a general (minor) recontextualization of Em's family background and fleshing out her folks a bit more - I made them sound richer(?) and rather one-dimensional in my initial application than I meant to and have therefore rewritten it in a way that fits Em's character better if that makes sense...? - In short, I want her parents to be seen more as successful, hardworking individuals with jobs that have them travel overseas frequently rather than simply "generic rich people".
I haven't edited the relevant section(s) in my ency just yet in case any further clarification is needed. If there's any questions or more info needed, please owl me(Again, this kind of thing has always slightly confused me so I figured I'd post everything here just in case - sorry for any trouble!)

Born on 24 April 2007 to Henry Riddle and Esme Lark alongside a twin sister, Sapphire, Koko likely would have grown up a sunshiney, fun-loving child on an estate just outside of Cambridge. Her parents, although nominally pure-bloods, were hardly traditionalists, which was a large part of why they were rather removed from wizarding society. Henry’s family, an offshoot of an American branch of the Riddells, had mixed with the pure-blood French Leblancs and even Veelas (including his own mother), a secret everyone wanted to keep under wraps, something easier hidden if you simply stayed out of sight.
They had few friends outside of family, so when Esme attempted to Apparate herself and Henry a greater distance than usual, few people could recognise them. They were hurriedly taken to St Mungos after being found, but it was too late — Esme had lost too much blood for even the blood-replenishing potion by that point, and Henry had hit his head after passing out after the initial splinch, making him dead on the scene.
Before she died, Esme was able to note some of Henry’s relatives, most of whom were distant. Koko and Sapphire were initially placed in foster care, and, eventually, Rosalie Leblanc and Victor Wreath took in Koko, who they figured they could pass off as their own daughter. They eventually had two more children, Holmes and Charles, and the family lived in London for years.
It wasn’t perfect, but no family is. Charlie and Holmes often received more attention than Koko did, and Koko assumed it was due to blatant favouritism on their mother’s end. As such, growing up, she was closer with Victor, often taking an interest in the Muggle-born wizard’s electronic music business he kept out of a studio in Soho. She didn’t have a clue how any of the software worked, only that it glowed and was pretty.
She was tutored alongside her brothers. Koko did well with arithmancy and occasionally music, but she struggled to read in both English and French. Although she had learned to read at a young age, poring through books gave her headaches, so she gradually avoided studying using books as she aged, preferring to practise piano or even help her brothers with maths.
Rosalie and Victor often argued. They tried to keep it from the children, but even Koko, who had never been all that observant, noticed it at times. Ever-selfish, she assumed they were arguing about her — including, after her first instance of magic, about whether or not to send her to Hogwrats. In reality, though, Rosalie, as the older daughter of French pure-blood Alphonse Leblanc, was feeling worse and worse about seemingly abandoning her family as her father aged, and she wanted to return to traditional pure-blood society, which would shun Victor. Eventually, they divorced, with Rosalie returning to France and Victor initially heading to Los Angeles to continue his company. He later moved to Coventry to be closer to his own family and continue his company in the UK.
Koko chose to stay primarily with Victor. At first, this was because she was simply closer with him and thought her mother disliked her. As she grew to know Rosalie better during visits to France, though, she began to realise she had been wrong and that they could have a good relationship. Although Koko didn’t know what would happen, she recognised that the contraption wasn’t supposed to close on someone’s hands, and she let out a small shriek. The contraption froze, half-shut, and Victor was able to remove his hand before it slammed closed.

- The passing away of Elisa's father along with Elisa's mother' brother and his wife
Austin Laenyis was working on an Erumpent potion in the presence of his brother in law, Aetos Shakestra on the 16th of November 2024, Austin had volunteered to brew the potion for his sister's husband when he had put a demand for it, while the brewing went fine at the first few steps, things went wrong when an unaware Glory, the wife of Austin accidentally dropped some unknown ingredient into the potion which caused it to explode before anyone could take any action, the explosion being too severe that it killed the life of all 3 members who were in the room.
- The affair of Catherine Shakestra
It had always been clear that Catherine had no commitment to her family, neither to her husband nor to her daughter, Elisa. While to most it would seem as if she had no time for her family due to much important things like work, the reality was something else, there was a secret, one she held buried deep in her heart, one that would ruin all of her conspiracies, one that would her picture perfect family, the involvement of another man. Catherine had always found joy in the arms of another, a man she had been meeting for months behind Aetos's back, Alastor Shakestra, her husbands younger brother was the reason behind all, from Catherine's dismissing behavior to her family to her absence in any significant part of Elisa's life. The death of Aetos would be a celebration to her, an opportunity to seize control of her power in the family.
- The adoption of Austin and Glory's son
Orpheus Laeynis, a rather quiet and well behaved boy, currently in his 6th year of Hogwarts is the sole son of late Austin and Glory was a nephew of Catherine Shakestra (Elisa's mother), Catherine and Austin being siblings, rather distant than usual siblings. Terror stroke at the passing away of Austin and Glory along with Aetos Shakestra due to an accident on the 16th of November, which left Orpheus orphaned. Catherine being the sly woman she was, saw this inconvenience as an opportunity, to have an obedient heir of the family that wouldn't question her relation with Alastor Shakestra and might even support her wrongdoings, one that her own kin, Elisa most likely would not fulfil. Adopting him was much of a piece of cake to her, with nearly all the family members convinced that the action done by Catherin was out of regret and mourning for the passing away of her brother, sister in law and husband which was just not true. Catherine had managed to keep all from the deaths to the adoption of Orpheus a secret from Elisa to prevent her from having any emotional break out in Hogwarts.
(Information: Elisa isnt aware of this all yet, she finds out all this during her vacation, most likely on the day she returns from Octavius Baird's house (due to the thread) to her own since she did go there straight from platform 9 3/4.)
