This match will determine who takes home the cup for the year and who faces off against one of our rival schools. Will it be like 2020 and Hufflepuff, this time with the surprise win? Gender-neutral Dorms

Popping in to announce that the two new gender-neutral dorms for Hufflepuff have been properly installed. As many of you will notice, we have re-purposed two former dorms. "Hengist Home" and "Colourful Quarters" now became a "Hogsmeade Home" and, well… "Colourful Quarters".

This will most likely raise questions for any of the former Hengist Huffers or Colourful Puffers out there. For now, you've been moved along with your dorm into the new gender-neutral area. So yes, you are currently on the list of the Hogsmeade Home dorm or the new Colourful Quarters. Should you wish to stay in a dormitory specifically for boys or girls only, then you will need to apply for any of the other options left in their respective areas.

The Badger Bungalow has also been edited. A lot of the girls will be wondering what has happened to the Wenlock Lodge. In an attempt to streamline the dorm system and give all three categories an equal amount of dorms, the Wenlock Lodge was voted to be removed. However, in an attempt to broker peace for all minds out there, I have merged the lore for both the Badger Bungalow and the Wenlock Lodge together. If you were to check out the Badger Bungalow's lore, you should find either a bunch of new traditions added or hopefully find yourself happy to still see the number seven pop up all around you. All former residents of the Wenlock Lodge have been added to the Badger Bungalow, should you wish to stay anywhere else, then you'll have to apply in another dorm.

I would like to state, yet again, that even if your character identifies as male or female specifically, you are definitely allowed to also sleep in the gender-neutral dorms. The goal is to be all-inclusive there.

As always, should you have any further questions, do not hesitate to send me an owl. I can assure you there will be more changes upcoming as we are adding another gender-neutral dorm soon and will also be providing a FAQ section for Hufflepuff in general.

Potion System

We are very excited to announce the release of our Potions System. Commencing with the end of this school year, from 1 July 2022, students will be able to brew those potions that they learn in class. Brewing can be done through the Brewing Form. A full list of potions that are able to be brewed, including those classified as restricted, can be found in the Potions Masterlist.

To coincide with this release, we have also updated the Components ability. The new ability allows for users to make potions without purchasing the required ingredients:

You are a collector by nature. You keep various oddities under your bed, in your drawer. When you go for walks if you find a curiosity it finds its way into your pocket.

Prerequisite: None

Effect: User is considered to automatically have certain components required for potion-making. A difference here is the fact that they do not have to purchase ingredients required by the recipe, provided it is on the pre-approved list of collectible components. The user will not have the item in their inventory and this ability cannot be used to transfer potions ingredients to other users.

Graduation and iNPCs

A quick addendum regarding iNPCs -- they will be playing in the summer games. I will be doing the calculations for going up a year in terms of their stats when applications open. So think about what you want to do with those stats and give Hogwarts a run for their money.

Again, iNPCs will be open again June 8 now through June 22 for creation and for updates/edits.

Minor Update to the Errand System

Throwing up a quick update here with a little bit of good news! In line with the scholarship increase, we will be increasing the amount people can earn from errands so that you can earn more through them. Up till now, you could earn between 1 to 10 sickles for an errand. The specific amount is dependent on the word count required, as well as other errands/other rewards that month. However, we have increased the money reward going forward so that errands will now give out 5 to 50 sickles instead, so you will be able to earn more money through this method than before for completing these errands.

The first errand with this boosted money will be up soon in the Errand Section.

Gay pride or LGBT pride is the promotion of the self-affirmation, dignity, equality, and increased visibility of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people as a social group. Pride, as opposed to shame and social stigma, is the predominant outlook that bolsters most LGBT rights movements. This is a month of dignity, equal rights, self-affirmation and is a way of increasing society’s awareness of the issues they face.

June is celebrated as Pride in honor of the Stonewall Riots, an event that transpired after an NYPD raid of the Stonewall Inn. The riots were prompted by a raid that took place during the early morning, at the Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village, Manhattan. The LGBT community held a series of spontaneous, often violent demonstrations to protest against the raid and calling for the establishment of places that gays and lesbians could go and be open about their sexual orientation. In such places there should be no fears of being arrested. The riots served as a catalyst for the rights of LGBT people, and within 6 months, 2 gay activist groups had formed in New York. This became a galvanizing force for LGBT political activism, and argued by some to be the birth of the gay rights movement, in the United States and around the world. The world's first pride parade occurred on the 1st anniversary (28 June 1970). June is also the month same sex marriage was legalized in the United States. This is not an internationally recognized celebration, other nations celebrate pride during other months. LGBT History Month in the UK takes place in the month of February since 2005. Australia and Canada celebrate LGBT History in October since 1994.

Since then there has been progress in terms of jargon, increased rights and public awareness. However there are parts of the world where the LGBTQ+ community is criminalized, resulting in imprisonment or even death (12 countries). 29 countries legally recognize marriage equality; 11 countries mention sexual orientation in constitutional nondiscrimination clauses. Advances in the LGBTQ+ community are more recent than many realize and they still face ongoing struggles relation to their sexual orientation and identity.

• France was thee first nation to decriminalize homosexuality in 1791.
• The Scientific-Humanitarian Committee founded in Berlin was the first known LGBTQ+ organization.
• Civil society organizations have lobbied the United Nations for the recognition of human rights on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity since 1945.

• Denmark is the first country to recognize same-sex civil unions in 1989.

Raise in Mentor Compensation: in accordance with earnings increases on April 30 so retroactively effective back to April 30, increased the compensation for completed mentorships from 1 galleon to 3 galleons.

Trades/Gifts and Special Characters

We appear to be having an issue with players getting items sent to them via the ACP (Admin Control Panel) or via the "give" option players have if the recipient has a "special character" in their name. If you were supposed to get something, like a reward or a trade and you have not gotten it, please reach out. The site does keep records of you receiving the item, so if you got the item or not, we can verify this.

Trunk Updates only upon Graduation

You can only apply for trunk updates for the next school year once you have graduated.

This means until your profile says that you have advanced a year, you cannot apply for new stats, abilities or spells. Graduation will be done by admins, manually, from the Index list, at or around July 1st. This might take us a few days as we have to graduate each person by hand.

Please do not spam our trunk update thread with your update requests for next year right now. It will create extra work for the Index Team members who'll have to let you know that this isn't possible and then will delete your update post.

Update to Detention

I have clarified the language on detentions. A player in detention cannot MAKE or JOIN new threads until their detention is complete. This was always the intention of that system. So for the sake of clarity, this means that threads already in progress before the detention is started may continue. Players may also involve themselves in out of character threads and even start OC threads, they just cannot start or join new in character threads. This includes events and sports as well as solo roleplays.
