Camp 2023 Summer Duels, Game 1: Ravenclaw vs Slytherin

Just before Del went down again, she saw Hanako take the final hit and actually go down for good, she did feel bad, as she always did when somebody got knocked out but it had to be done for the sake of the duel. She would definitely help with healing at the end if she didn't get knocked out herself.

Protego was not a spell you could overuse in duelling--it tended to help very little to advance your goal of winning, and it got very obvious very fast--but there were moments where it was useful, and Bridget would say this was one of them. She was aching, they were clearly targeting her, so it was the perfect moment to throw up a shield and last a while longer.

And it did save her, the concussive force of Delilah's Confringo flying back at the older girl's face, but not as fully as she would have liked. The weight of the explosion had already been enough, she couldn't hold against the Ventus, too, and she got a faceful of Pericles' Ventus for her efforts. It stung and stole her breath, but she was still standing, though the now-righted world had taken on hazy edges.

Hanako, however, was not. She bit her cheek as she watched him be carried off. Too soon. It wasn't the fastest someone had ever been knocked out in a duel, certainly, but it was still too fast, and now it was just her and Opeila against three Ravenclaws, even if her teammate was doing an excellent job of keeping at least one of them down at any given moment. The problem was really that Bridget wasn't sure how much longer she'd last, and Opeila by herself against the three of them? That was a blatantly losing battle. But there was nothing to do but push the feather boa down out of her face and square up, she supposed.

And there they went- or... Hanako went. With no surprise whatsoever, Opeila watched the boy drop like a puppet that was cut from its strings, but this time didn't bother trying to wake him by nudging him with her shoe.
Instead she directed her focus at one of the two seventh years. "Petrificus Totalus!" Maybe keeping one of them down at all times would help them just a bit

One respite to her situation was Pericles’ voice at her side; as mushy as it was to admit. As seconds ticked, Phaedra felt her limbs awaken with an intense ache, and she took advantage of the momentary lull in duelling to lie there longer than she had any right. “…Yes. I’m fine,” Phaedra managed, shallow breaths evident as she climbed to her feet. The figures across the piste blended together in a hazy swirl, but she was still standing.

Within a matter of minutes the approaching end of the duel seemed pretty clear and it made Alan a bit sad for the team of vipers who had fought valiantly up to that point. He hoped they would go out with a bang or call upon some sort of miracle. Though the chances seemed quite slim. Delilah had struggled to break free from the spell but the spells natural end seemed to do the trick. Phaedra was readying herself with a well placed Shield Charm that let a Confringo from Bridget burst into nothing but sparks before it could do anything. Pericles almost missed Bridget but managed to still catch her with a Knockback Jinx, just barely and that was the end of her. Opeila however was quick to retaliate with a better aimed Knockback Jinx though the question was if it would help her at this point. She was now facing down in a 3v1 against the Murder of Merlin. Alan sort of wished her luck if only because he felt that she could about need some right now.

Opeila didn't watch the beam of light erupt from her wand, didn't see how it hit her cousin- instead she felt like she was watching another scene in front of her unfold in slow motion. Pericles' spell flew past her and hit Bridget, making the older girl, who had not looked too well anyway, collapse on the ground.
Slowly Opeila would turn to the three Ravenclaws again. It was over, no doubt. The only remaining question was how they would end up finishing her off.
She'd certainly appreciate if there was no fire involved.

2 down, 1 to go, Delilah cracked her knuckles as she stood up, a habit her granny despised with her whole heart. You have never heard a woman more outwardly disgusted than Caitlin Stewart when she heard the crunch of Dels knuckles. But the duel was almost over as far as Del was concerned so she may have been getting a tiny bit cocky at this moment.

Peri politely pretended not to notice Phae was winded, complimenting "I wouldn't expect any less." Inbound to his fifth year, he seemed to have outgrown the wide-eyed tight-jawed reverence once reserved for the Stavrou heir, replaced by a more sensible glint of admiration in his eye as she rejoined the fray. Bridget's last stand against the seventh-year was foiled by a well-timed Protego, then Pericles sealed her fate with a follow-up Flipendo. In an instant, the same spell slammed into him, sending him staggering. He managed to hold his footing, squinting Opeila's way with a blend of reproach and respect that seemed to say Nice shot. Pericles muttered a quick "Welcome back" as Del found her footing. While Bridget trailed Hanako to the hospital ward, the Ravenclaw's posture hinted at his resignation: it may not have been a fair fight from the start, but three against one was just cruel. He scanned their final opponent for any indication she might choose the merciful option of forfeiting.

Action: As strategized.

Not even pride could stop Phaedra from casting a protective shield before her, its glossy shine illuminating upon contact with Bridget’s Confringo. It did not reflect backwards in her favour as her shields so often did, but rather disintegrated harmlessly. A bold move on the injured Slytherin’s end, but ultimately fruitless as she soon collapsed at Pericles’ hand. Phaedra was able to breathe a little easier; perhaps she’d stand to see the end of this duel after all.

Alan observed for another round. The team of Ravenclaw seemed to be taking their sweet time, rather than doing the merciful thing and taking Ophelia out of the game quickly. Instead they chose to use their spells to heal themselves up or at least that was the case with Phaedra and Delilah. Pericles was the only eagle to choose a more offensive approach and went for a Knockback Jinx directed at the lone viper. Opeila in an attempt to take down at least one of the Murder of Merlin with her, chose to go after Phaedra, who due to previous healings was no longer easy prey.
