New Professor of Care of Magical Creatures (COMC)

Alois Proulx (account to be made), better known as Levi Drakos (as they are allowing me to share their name) is our newest Professor of Care of Magical Creatures. Levi is a tenured member of the community well known for their writing as well as discord banter. They have become a loved and respected member of the community and we are excited to see what they will bring to the subject.

This also means that we will be saying farewell to our (terrifying) former Professor Ivar Eide. Ivar has under other faces held many positions in this community as we are eternally grateful for his dedication to the community. We will miss him but we also hope him well as he embarks on new adventures. Please extend to him your gratitude.

We want you for a Dorm survey!

As has recently been announced, genders on h.io are being overhauled with a new non-binary option being added. This will allow users/characters to switch between genders to allow a more inclusive and appropriately representative community. As a result, the current dorm system is being reworked to reflect this new inclusivity. Right now, we're just in the process of trying to figure out how, exactly, to re-organize them, so we're asking you for some input!

Updates have been made to the Shop Area.

Previously Shops were given the unofficial home of At the Counter in the Leaky Cauldron. Shops have been given a new home The Out of Character Shop Area also located in the Leaky Cauldron. In addition to this some basic guidelines have been written so that users can find your shop easier and new shop owners know what the community expects because we have a lot of unwritten expectations.

I have moved over all of the shops I could find. It was hard to find some because some users had multiple and some were not clearly labeled and mixed among other threads. If I have missed yours, it was not intentional. Please reach out to me with a link and I will move yours over.

I have also closed any shop that has not had any activity over 6 months. I just added a CLOSED Tag, when you open back up you can just remove the tag and get customers. This is just to let users know you have not been active there in some time so that they have a better experience. I have also closed shops if there were multiple owned by the same person. This is because that first page is premium space. Being on that first page means you are active and present to prospective customers. If someone has several shops, other active uses may get pushed out of sight and we want everyone that engages in the shop to have the opportunity to do so.

There will be some minor updates to the At the Counter Area as well and an informational post added to the Encyclopedia Area.

Broom Racing

Come one, come all... see the amazing acrobatics and probable tragic demise of minors as they fly through a perilous course on magical broomstick while flinging spells recklessly at one another. Thankfully those permission slips have a "maiming injury and tragic death" clause.

DUELLING ANNOUNCEMENT

The duelling moderator team has just released the new patch, in which we have made some changes regarding Round Limits, Inactivity during Duels and Damage Calculation! To not miss any updates, please subscribe to the Project Announcement thread~

We are also happy to announce the start of our 2nd Stage on January 20th featuring Gryffindor vs Slytherin as well as Ravenclaw vs Hufflepuff!

Dormitory Updates

1. We have updated the dorm areas to account for a non-binary option. I have moved all of the threads taking place in the male dorms to the male dorm area, the same with the female dorm threads. I tagged all threads with the dorms that they came from. Many threads were in the undefined dorm area outside of the male and female binary options we used to have. I made my best guess that it was a male or a female thread. I did not purposefully misgender anyone but if I sent your threads to the wrong dorm along with dozens of others I am sorry. Please feel free to privately contact me and I will move it to the right place, I just need the link to the thread(s).
2. The Prefects are going to be making the dorm areas neat. Look for a sticky or an announcement describing the various dorms.
3. How do you use dorms? You use tags (those brackets) to let people know what dorm you are roleplaying in.
4. Players will have the option of changing dorms in the coming days, your house will announce when they are ready for you.
5. I have changed the location of where you get paid (your scholarship), you can now find it in your common room.

Quidditch Game 2 Has Started

Game 2 for the 2021 School Year has started. In Gryffindor v Ravenclaw, we will see who has the hope for an undefeated season. In Hufflepuff v Slytherin we will see if either of them are going to be making a season come-back with this next game.

Remember you have 5 days to post if you are a quidditch player before the first moderation. You only need to meet 50 words.

Remember for spectator threads -- you cannot effect the players in the game in any way. As a spectator you are a witness to what happens here (so you can see what happens in the other thread, you just cannot intervene but you can cheer them on or heckle them). There is no active moderation of this thread, this is simply a roleplay prompt that some of you might partake in. You do need to meet the 200 word count requirement for your posts!

It's almost February 14th - an international day of love. Whether that's romantic or not, this tea party is for everyone! Sign up now to meet your secret admirer or go on a cute blind date, or just for the cake and tea. With two baking experts on the team, there is bound to be good food at the very least!

The deadline to sign up is the 10th February 2022 to give us time to allocate everyone. Please know that you may not be allocated to the person you sign up for!

All in all, the night is certain to be full of awkward exchanges, heartbreak and some drama. But perhaps there will be some cutesy moments - what happens is up to you.
