(501 words)
Since the first time the young lioness set herself on top of a broom and had to deal with all the consequences coming with it, she has put in her mind that she would do anything to accomplish her goal of being the best flyer she could bring herself to be. Even if her first experience hadn't be the best, quite traumatizing if we are going for honesty, she found herself raising a passion for broom games and sports. Besides studying for her classes and keeping her high grades, the Gryffindor found herself spending most of her time training and strategizing for Broom Racing and giving all she had to help her team being successful. She saw her position as a co-captain with great responsibility, she felt honored to be able to have that position, specially as a young student and a muggleborn, who had lived her life outside the wizarding world, a world she never thought it would really exist before her older brother start to attending Hogwarts.

Was with all this in mind, with steel determination, that Ying, while enjoying the few days she had to stay at home between the end of classes and the start of summer camp, that she brought to herself the challenge of training her accuracy, endurance and resilience. Mornings started with running and several exercises to train her strength, and afternoons were spending between studying for awful-boring-muggle-studies and archery, her new favorite way to ensure she would not miss her next targets so easily.

So here she was, on the terrace of her family's London apartment, with a target placed as far away as possible from where she was standing and stretching her new bow, with an arrow ready to be shot. It wasn't a wand, it wasn't a spell, just strength and a keen eye were what she needed. Being a muggleborn, living in the muggle world, made it impossible for her to train her magic, in part that actually made her admire her brother's skill with his spells, how did he made it possibly to be such a great duellist when he had to put his wand to rest during this time of the year. Fortunately for her, Broom Racing wasn't just about spells, and so she could dedicate her free time training other useful skills.

The sun was high in the sky, causing her eyes to squint slightly to shield them from the bright, unforgiving light. She wouldn't give up because of that, when that was also one of the many obstacles she had to learn to overcome. So she focused on her goal, that small black circle in the middle of her training target. Ying adjusted her bow, making sure her arrow was correctly secured and ready to fly. With one last pull, she finally released the arrow and it whistled through the air and found its target. Not exactly where Ying would like it to land, but... next time would be better, she would make sure of it!

Vale came from a family of master potioneers and herb gatherers. It was only a matter of time before she revealed her own natural talent for potioneering as well.

She was always good in her potion class, but her mother has finally took to sitting Vale down to learn more about the art that can be either life-saving, or death-causing. As if she was worried about something. What she worried for, she would end up telling Vale as she taught her more. There's not many things an Ashwood would worry for. Usually such worrying comes from the victims of the Ashwoods.

Now Vale would return to another year of schooling with a better grip on her natural talent more than her own peers. She was able to recite potions that were even a year advanced her own. She even could compose a list of chemical equations and explain what they are like nothing. Prehaps her uncanny sense of memory has came to reach its peak. Whatever may be the true cause of her prodigal talent, Vale was sure to be her typical, menacing self.

The Ashwoods are a family with generations of potion experimentation done to them. With a rumor of whether or not this was a choice truly made by its own members. In their origins from pre-colonial Africa, the 'Ashwoods' did not truly exist in name until the colonization period of Africa. Beforehand, they were all nameless healers who casually lived in villages that didn't possess similar talents. They were highly respected individuals.

The healers would end up having to separate from these tribes and turn into nomads to avoid dangers that came from colonization. Said healers would end up staying together and hidden. This would be the actual origins of the Ashwoods. A family that would possess said potioneering and herb gathering talents from the desperation for survival. Something that would have its latest generation still experience the price of such desperation. When such 'danger' had decreased, they would found themselves to be able to return to villages who purposefully even hid their secret talent from those who seeked to exploit it.

There is an argument being made on the actual purity of Ashwood blood due to such history, with a current fear by some Ashwoods that impurity is what causes newer generations of the family to fall extremely ill and/or even pass away from it. There is a belief that purebloods are able to handle the effects of potion experimentation far better than those who don't. Some Ashwoods who were non-pureblood have unfortunately passed from this illness during birth.

Vale would hone this historically gruesome ability she has, with her current dream of following her own parents. To her, it was just a beloved ability she has. A desire to mold into a typical, modern Ashwood family member. She can't imagine fear, something she only knew how to cause. But she certainly knew what love was, and she loved her own, very gift that her ancestors would pass onto her.

During the first week of the summer holidays everything was going well, and life was good. It wasn't until the second week that things took a turn for the worst. Mylo had started packing for camp that would start next week, and had laid everything out so that it could be packed, which meant they had also put their wand in with everything else as he couldn't use it in the muggle world and therefore had not reason to carry it with them. They had shown it to their parents when they got home but Andrea, his little sister, hadn't seemed to bothered and had ignored everyone.

A day later Mylo went back into their room and noticed something was missing from the pile, their wand. Looking in their room it was nowhere to be found, their parents also hadn't seen it anywhere else in the house. They all spend at least an hour looking for the wand everywhere they could think it might have vanished to, but to no avail. That's when Andrea appeared in the doorway, covered in dirt and smiling ear to ear. She apparently had 'found a stick' in Mylo's room while looking for a charger that she was allowed to borrow from him and had decided that it shouldn't be in the house, it should be buried somewhere out in the woods. And as these things go, when they told Andrea the situation she tried to lead them to where she had buried it but she couldn't remember, the woods were quite confusing if you didn't stick to the paths. So Mylo had to go and get a new wand.

Returning back to the shop he had visited a year earlier he stepped inside and looked around, still astonished at the amount of wands decorating the walls and every available surface. Walking up to the counter they were helped by the owner of the shop, who handed them a few options to try. The first few weren't a success at all, but the fourth one, that one was amazing and Mylo felt an instant connection to it. As the owner started to explain the details of the wand to them it resonated quite a bit with Mylo.

The wand was made of Elm wood, it was a wood that liked dignity, and Mylo liked to think that they cast their spells with as much dignity as possible (the wand thought so apparently as well). Always keeping the movements near perfect and practising until he made no mistakes. Casting everything with precision and attention to detail. It was apparently a wand that had a reputation for only being for purebloods, so Mylo hoped that wouldn't be a problem. (WC: 80)

The core of this wand was a Dragon Heartstring, there were a lot of dragon species that could be used they had learnt, which was best suited for adaptable characters. Although Mylo didn't often like changes to their routines or things in life, they would be able to adapt to necessary changes but they tried to avoid that, they had found that they were able to be quite adaptable when it came to casting, having to be quick on their feet had forced them not to think about the spells they cast as much but focus on how they were casting them. The species was a Peruvian Vipertooth, which was quite a quick dragon apparently, something the owner had mention was that when Mylo cast his test spell to try out the wand it was a really quick cast, which Mylo felt quite proud of. Due to them practising his spells so much it meant that he could cast them by muscle memory and with that came quite a lot of speed as well apparently. Not that he minded at all. (WC: 181)

The wand itself was about 10 inches, which was a size pretty much right in the middle. This was for wizards who wanted a more refined magic, which Mylo liked. They liked having everything as perfect as possible, and with a shorter wand size it meant that he could make the wand movements even more precise, and trying to cast the spells to the best of their abilities. Which meant that he would often spend hours practising spells to get them perfect. (WC: 82)

Finally the flexibility of the wand, it was quite a sturdy one and that was perfect. It meant that when he cast the spells there wasn't much extra movement from the wand itself, and it fit Mylo's personality quite well. As he didn't like changes that much, but if it was necessary he could change small things and sometimes with a lot of effort change big things. Of course he tried to avoid this, but sometimes that wasn't possible. (WC: 79)

Having paid for the wand they headed back home, quite happy with what he had gotten and wondering what kind of magic would be in store for the two of them.

When did it start?

Scout would say it started when she was a kid, back when she was attending muggle school. She knew the hated and spiteful looks she got were because all of those muggle kids thought she was a vampire. They'd claim they couldn't stand to be around her, that they felt horrible around her, that the red-bean paste on her teeth was blood. But that was fine, because it was all dripped with mindless fear, baseless accusations. They didn't know she was actually a dhampir.

But then she was taken out of muggle school (an idea rooted in both her acceptance to Hogwarts as well as the build-up of the ruthless bullying), and her parents thought it would stop. People around Scout would stop giving her odd glances, ending conversations early, not giving her the time of day point blank. But it didn't.

It was like they were aware of some horrible presence that danced around her.

Why were people intimidated by her? She wasn't physically imposing, she was average height and while she had a little bit of muscle, she was still smaller than most of the boys her age. And she certainly wasn't some spell-casting genius, her spells seemed to fail more often than not. It eats her alive, what is everyone else seeing that she isn't?

She tried to make herself look less imposing, wearing bright colors and always adorning a big smile (coupled with her signature dimples)- no success. The opposite didn't work either, when she tried to blend in and be as average and normal as possible, it still didn't work. What could she be doing wrong? Nobody knew she was a dhampir, so why were they still walking on glass shards around her? She wasn't scary! She wasn't!

Fine, whatever, if this 'terrible presence' of hers was always going to stick around- fine! If she was always going to be given nasty looks or spark fear into people around her- fine! If it didn't matter how lonely she got or how hard she tried to look friendly, if people were always going to find her existence to be unsettling then she'd just deal with it.

So then... when did she start seeing this disgusting aura around herself?

Scout found herself staring in the mirror more often than not. Her eyes would linger on themselves, the dark color becoming eerie when they were once intriguing, or they'd dance over her skin that became paler each passing day, or perhaps they'd lock onto her teeth; anger would flare up each time she elongated her gaze on herself.

It was probably only a few months ago.

Is this what everyone saw when they looked at her?

"If you can't do it right the first time, don't do it at all"
These words had haunted Ehsilat throughout her childhood. Being the eldest daughter, as well as heir to the Wilst family fortune, she was always meant to be absolutely perfect.
Growing up, Ehsilat always followed the rules to a T, especially when her father came a round.
He was always out for work, rarely coming home. However, on the off times that he was home, he'd never miss an opportunity to chastise her. 'You're doing it wrong!', 'Stand back you'll just mess it up anyway, let the men handle this', 'You are a failure to this family...'
Perfect grades, Immaculate recommendations from teachers... It was never enough. There was always something wrong. Always some fault in the mass of perfection. She was never good enough.
Therefore, she made a vow. As a child, having just wanted her father to be proud of her, Ehsilat decided she was going to be absolutely perfect .
The perfect daughter, the perfect student, the perfect friend. She wanted to be it all...she would be it all.
There was a time when Ehsilat was tasked by her mother to host the annual Wilst Family Ball. She was ecstatic, yet absolutely terrified. Her father would be coming home from his work overseas and many important politicians would be in attendance. Her first thought was that it had to be perfect, no more than just 'perfect', it had to be flawless, simply immaculate, or else her father would never be proud of her.
It was that Saturday, the day of the ball, that Ehsilat realised that no matter what she did she would never be good enough for him. Enchanted lavender, almost white flowers, floated from the ceiling of the awfully large ballroom. A large "C" shaped table spanned across the entirety of the ballroom, leaving some space in the middle, suitable for dancing. The table was covered with a large white tablecloth embroidered with the Wilst family crest. It was decorated with vases filled with beautiful flowers and gold slated dinner plates all laid neatly arranged on the table. Scented candles separated the plates of each individual.
By 8, the ball was in full swing. It was going pleasantly. Ehsilat knew every politician by name, and greeted them all as soon as they stepped foot into the grand ballroom. Soon, it was time for the dancing. Ehsilat had carefully curated the dances that were to be played, ensuring that she knew them all by heart, all in hopes of impressing her father. She waltzed, she tangoed, she was perfect; everything was perfect. However, fate had other plans.
Shortly after the second waltz of the evening, Ehsilat's eyes scanned the ballroom in an attempt to locate her father, and that she did. He stood in the middle of the ballroom, speaking to a senator. The third, and final dance was about to commence and she had hoped that he would share this moment with her. Hurrying to where her father stood, the unthinkable happened. She tripped.
A loud clamor echoes throughout the ballroom as Ehsilat fell unto the floor. Everything went silent as she laid still. Tears streamed through her eyes as she stood then bolted quickly to her bedroom. A picture of her father's face hunched in disgust, forever etched into her memory.

When one was born to a family like the Ito's, there were certain standards that were expected of them. When everyone thought of a typical Pureblood, the first thing that would come to mind was probably a picture of grace, elegance and slight snobbery. Cass was almost the polar opposite. As a kid they were a ball of chaos, running barefoot across the manner and grounds, breaking many a precious vase or treasured heirloom in their haste. A lot of their misadventures occurred in the woods behind the manor- no matter what their father tried, he just couldn't seem to keep his child away. By the time they left for Hogwarts, they knew every nook and cranny of it back to front. The woods held the groove of trees where they broke their arm for the first time, the river where they learned that they couldn't breathe underwater actually, and the large number of forts they had built over the years.

The older they got, the less broken bones they obtained from falling out of trees. Practice really did make progress when it came to the mischief they got up to. When one dodged the angry gardeners freezing spells long enough, it became almost second nature. Of course, they wouldn't have to dodge them if they could just learn to stop absolutely destroying the gardens in the first place. It wasn't just their frequent disagreements with the gardener though- Cass seemed surprisingly adept at moving on instinct just before danger came their way. Cass was sure the gardener in question loved them, deep down. He just was a little... grumpy about their plant destruction habits. Another childhood hobby of theirs was broomstick riding- or in some cases broomstick crashing. Ever since they had learned to ride they had seemed determined to attempt every trick or stunt they could, just dialled up to max chaos level.

Every tree they got stuck in, wall they ran into or person they collided with, Cass got the slightest bit better at bailing on time. Or in very rare cases when their flight was still salvageable, pulling up or diving out of the way. They were far from immune to injury- on the contrary, they seemed to attract it. But diving out of danger became a habit for one who did it so often. And often they did. Every near miss that they had seemed to only fuel their desire for stupid stunts. Luckily for them, every near miss also seemed to help them become the slightest bit better at ensuring future near misses.

Describe why this fits Dealla:

Dealla's fifth year at Hogwarts had been a year of change. Quitting duelling, for one, was something she'd never thought she'd do, neither was signing up for broom racing instead. Leaving the Headliner had been another twist, a spur-of-the-moment decision when she'd stared at a half-finished article and realised she'd lost her words. The blossom ball had once again turned her life upside down. She'd taken (and excelled in) her O.W.L.s, and then turned sixteen.

But one thing Dee had always been fairly consistent about was her love for brewing potions. The cauldron was what she turned to when she felt alone, when she felt scared, lost, overwhelmed, when she was missing home and her mother's gentle hands in her hair so much it hurt. The Potions classroom was where she'd gone time and time again to ask for reassurance, back in her first year with Professor Ostrowski, then with Wickham-Deakin, most recently with Regan. She'd started helping around the classroom in her third year and had made a habit of it since, sorting cauldrons and taking stock, to the point where Regan had at times given her the responsibility of brewing demonstration potions for her classes. Only for the lower years, first year potions Dee could brew in her sleep, but still. Despite being anything but cozy, the potions classroom had, in a way, become her home away from home.

The second half of her fifth year had, as could be expected, been heavily influenced by her obsessive perfectionism and determination to take the O.W.L. in literally every class, which meant extraordinarily much time spent studying. And while for most of her fellow fifth years, spending time in the Potions classroom practicing their brewing had been part of that time, obligatory time to prepare for an exam that might make or break their future, for Dee, the brewing had been her time off. Rarely was she as relaxed as when chopping sage or stirring her potion with smooth motions. She didn't need the practice, really, O.W.L. level potions were not much of a challenge if you could follow a recipe.

Which was why, one day, she'd knocked at Regan's door with the request to give her a challenge. A real one. None of the things they'd learn in class anyway, next year, or even the year after. Something she actually had to pay attention to instead of setting her brain on auto-pilot and letting her hands do the work. Professor Regan had leaned back, an amused look on her face, and looked her up and down with those eyes that always seemed way too knowing for Dee's taste. She'd stayed quiet long enough that Dee had had to consciously keep herself from starting to fidget, then finally she'd grinned, told her to brew a Vitamix Potion and a Fire Breathing Potion at the same time without blowing herself up, and get an Outstanding in her Potions O.W.L.

Dee had done both, obviously, and walked away with a paper slip covered in Regan's slanted handwriting, allowing her access to the restricted section of the library. To the books concerning potions, at least.

There was an incessant desire for greater knowledge that never ceased for Tristan. During his youth, his grief had been targeted towards academics as a coping mechanism which caused him to be obsessed with being the most brilliant person in the room. The grief had transformed him into a cold creature only interested in matters of the mind and magical prowess. There was still an incessant desire to surpass other students within him still but no longer did he care only for the minds of others. He cared for their hearts also. Thus, Tristan's motivation to cast nonverbally came currently from both a motivation of academic prowess and the desire to protect. In the past, his academic obsession as a coping mechanism undermined any natural instinct to protect others and to care for others. However, when his tutor whom Tristan had lived with since he was six passed away suddenly, his heart changed and Tristan began to strive to live in honour of his friend and tutor who had both passed away too early. He strived to not let grief harden his heart and instead he would strive to care for others as much as his friend and tutor had in their short lives. Tristan began to desire to protect others and he was certain that being able to cast nonverbally, would provide him a far better chance to protect others in times of danger. So, he began to practice, during his fifth year, constantly, attempting to cast a simple Lumos without verbally saying the incantation. He had always been gifted at learning magic so he knew he would eventually succeed but he was disappointed that he did not achieve this skill in fifth year as he hoped he could. However, despite this disappointment, Tristan continued to practice, repeatedly focusing on the effects of Lumos and making sure to say the incantation in his head. He continued this practice over the summer, able to hide under his parent's magic in order to not get caught by the Ministry. He practiced constantly throughout break and even during summer camp. When he returned back Hogwarts the beginning of his sixth year, he attempted to cast Lumos without a verbal incantation and to his delight, he succeeded. He continued to add more spells that he could cast nonverbally, and now by the end of his first week, back at school, he could cast all spells non-verbally with great focus and imagination.

As a 'Gallant' family, Audrey, same with her sister and brother, were meant to be courageous. And it was a lucky thing that Audrey had inherited from her mother - tough and strong, ready to do anything that she could to prevent anything else that gets in their way. Colin, her childhood friend, was an example - a cunning example, indeed. In a scouts camp, Colin was heading into the forest, trying to run away from Audrey. A sense of guilt ambushed her, a series of deafening silence surrounding the eerie sounds of bat slurps. Without warning, she bolted into the by-now pitch black forest, trying to find Colin: she knew that if he went missing, she would never forgive herself. Just then, she heard a silent sniff near her. She trudged past the woods, trying to shelter herself from the sun and, not surprisingly, found Colin lying on the floor with his back leaning on a stone, moaning and gripping his left ankle. A snake slithered slowly, closer and closer to the terrified, sweating Colin, squeezing his eyes so tightly she thought that he was blind. Just when he thought it was over, Audrey grabbed a small, grey stone and threw it on the snake, and just as she thought, the snake got hit by the scales - but not enough to knock it down. Frustrated, the snake slithered towards Audrey, and Colin slowly opened his eyes just to see a traumatising moment: Audrey was stomping on the brownly-scaled snake. She laughed shrilly, shouting, "What can you do now, run away? Oh wait, I forgot you don't have legs, you dummy," At this point, the snake was so flabbergasted that he got knocked out.

As a middle child, her mother had never took much attention towards her, for she was often viewed as less important compared to her brother, who's always the first person to do everything before the two younger sisters, and her sister, who's always being a little more special compared to the two. Hence, she liked being alone, causing her to be a little curious when she met something that she was interested in. As her curiosity deepens, her experiences with various (strange) occasions increases, making her more alone-ish than ever. She would never be scared of anything as she got used to many animals, plants, and even humans that are mediocre, from deadly flora to ferocious spiders. As long as it doesn't involve anything with her parents, she would be willing to do it as long as it's interesting for Audrey, provided the fact that she explores and analyses everything she sees.

Growing up with siblings, it had always paid to remain vigilant even when at home. Especially around her brother. His love for pranks was something he reveled in, and Avery often found herself one of his unlucky targets. Whether it be items replaced with whatever odd concoction he could find to the letters on her keyboard getting swapped around, no possession was sacred. And that's not to mention his maniacal enjoyment of jump scares, much to the chagrin of every household member. And as the youngest member of the house, she was often the favored target.

Constant vigilance had been developed out of necessity. Avery had grown used to pausing and taking in the big picture before allowing her focus to narrow down to any points of potential interest. A creaking step, a shadow just out of place, something moved even slightly out of place from where it was left. There was almost a thrill in catching on to something out of the norm. It had become something of a competition between the youngest and the oldest of the McCall children. Tristan always looking to one-up himself with new ideas, and Avery constantly looking to foil his attempts.

The vigilance continued to serve her well when it came time to immerse herself in a newly discovered world of magic. Rather than just an annoying brother to contend with, there were now flying objects to duck beneath and even more elaborate (and potentially disastrous) pranks to avoid. And yet Avery was enthralled by it. She didn't want to miss a thing. Often times, she would find herself simply sitting in the corner of a common area to people watch, head on a swivel as she observed the comings and goings of her peers.

Over time Avery was able to hone that vigilance in far more, in her mind, beneficial ways. As a budding sports captain, she did her best to focus in on every possible aspect of practices or games. She kept her eye on teammates and opponents alike, always watching for an opening or areas of improvement. Even while in the midst of chaos herself, she did her best to keep her attention in constant movement in an attempt to absorb as much of what was happening as possible. Body language was something she always tried to stay cognizant of, surprised at first by just how expressive people could be at times with their intentions.
