Madeleine was practically born in a wandshop. It was pretty much a second home to the girl whose mother was studying the craft since before she was born. The day after Madeleine displayed her first sign of magic, her mother sat her down in the wand studio and showed her all the different aspects of wandmaking. Of course the budding witch had been in this shop plenty of times, and she'd even been walked through the basics before, but this time was different. Her mother was going to design a wand for her, which made the process exponentially more interesting.

Seven-year-old Maddie was much more invested in having a visually appealing wand rather than a wand that "matched her in spirit," but her mother was excellent at guiding the young witch's understanding of all the different wand aspects' importance. The core that would be at the heart of her spellcasting and the wood that would protect the core and focus her casting. The flexibility that would match her in temperament, and the length that needed to be comfortable for her.

Although she was too young to test the wands in her mother's shop, Madeleine watched others come into the shop over the years and saw the disastrous or magnificent displays from customers searching for the wand that suited them. It looked like it was a process that took a lot of different wands for testing, but her mother reassured her over the years that the wand she was making would suit Maddie perfectly. Some people got wands specifically made for them, and that's exactly what was happening here.

Just a week after the appearance of an Abraxan feather which formally invited her to Beauxbatons, Maddie was gifted with the wand that her mother had poured her heart into. A masterpiece, in her mother's words. When she opened the wooden box, Maddie saw a wand that would be with her for the rest of her life.

---

27.94 cm (11 inches): Given the slightly above average length of her wand, Madeleine is rather balanced in personality but leans more towards dramatics and liveliness. She doesn't like to draw attention in an obvious manner, but she does like attention in general and having eyes on her. She is a performer, after all.

Beech: Maddie's mother raised her to be open-minded, so she has always been accepting of the differences in others. She will grow to understand a lot of the intricacies of the wizarding world due to the friends and experiences she will have. Being matched with a beech wand means that her casting will have an artistry rivaled by few others, which will match her performances well.

White River Monster Spine: Madeleine does not come from the most wealthy home in the traditional sense, but she had a home wealthy in love. Although her mother was often busy, Maddie never lacked in love even if she lacked in attention. With a spine wand core, her charms will be forceful and elegant.

Flexible: Madeleine is a flexible individual, literally and figuratively. As a dancer, she has the flexibility and control of her body to dance and cast well. She is adaptable and flexible to situations in life because of her family, friends and the experiences she has had thus far and to come.
Flavor: These spells look "different" in practice. For example, your Lumos might be a blue light, Fumos might have a foul or a sweet scent. Tells for spells (such as if the wand casts a light for a spell) are unaltered. If a user is taking this wand, they do need to list the "altered appearance" of their spells in their trunk and the altered appearances of these spells cannot have a statistically relevant effect.

2nd Year: Charmer (WC: 401)
[reducio]From the age of four, Madeleine has been learning to dance. It is an art form where she excels and takes great pride. As she went from being a young girl learning to dance the chicken to properly learning ballet, she found that she could move in ways that some of her peers could not. She received almost all of the solos and the leads because people simply loved to watch her. She was on pointe (haha, i'm very punny) with her facial expressions, her execution of the dance moves and her overall stage presence. She was simply charming to watch, and she had a natural grace that allowed her to excel in her classes and recitals. Although she put in tons of practice and hard work, her grace always seemed to come so effortlessly.

Even outside of dance, Madeleine possessed an outlook on life that was charming. She loves most art forms and finds ways to compliment people and their efforts on things even in situations where others would scold them (except for dance - she has high standards for dance). Her hometown of Colmar is known as one of the most beautiful cities in France, and she has explored every inch of the place. She has gone through the museums, researched the architecture and boated on the rivers. Everything about the place is beautiful and probably growing up in such a charming village has rubbed off on her.

The young girl was dubbed as charming from a young age, but it was only amplified after her first year at Beauxbatons. Learning magic was something Madeleine had always looked forward to, but it came as a shock to her that the school placed so much emphasis on showmanship as well. Her mother went to a different wizarding school so she'd had no idea what to expect, but this was even better than she could have hoped! In her classes, she learned how to cast spells accurately, but even more important: gracefully. Her natural grace came in handy when they were being graded on showmanship, because she captured the attention of the whole class at times. Incorporating her proper wand movements and her enunciation of spells, sometimes coupled with a twirl here or an extra brandishing of her wand (after the spell was properly cast) there. She was a natural-born performer, and she loved to have all eyes on her when she was doing well.[/reducio]
3rd year: Perfectionist (WC: 418)
[reducio]Madeleine is well aware of what the term "perfectionist" means, considering that is exactly what she is as a dancer. She has been dancing since the age of four, and it has been drilled into her how important technique is. Every pirouette, every jeté, every relevé - it all needs to be executed flawlessly. In order to be the best of the best, perfection is necessary.

Learning magic at Beauxbatons for the past two years, Maddie has found that she aims to be the same way with her spellcasting. Beauxbatons focuses on the performing arts, and she has learned that combining casting with her dancing makes for very beautiful performances. Sending a stream of sparks above the stage when she raises her arm for a beautiful flourish, using lumos to light a dance in the dark and draw the audience's eye, using attack spells to dramatize the storytelling of dance. All of these are ways to enhance her performances in front of a magical audience, and anything that draws more eyes to her is worth perfecting.

So Maddie really focuses when it comes to spellwork. Being familiar with hard work and practice from her years of dance, it isn't hard for her to get in the same mindset for her schooling. She is a good student in general, but her spellcasting gets most of her attention. Perfecting her wand movement and her enunciation of the spells comes before memorizing the history behind the spells. She is a visual learner, so being able to see the spells and the expected result means she is much more interested in them than the written work of school. Her dance background comes in handy when needing to reproduce a specific movement with her wand just by watching someone else cast. Mads also challenges herself regularly by incorporating her dance with her spells after she feels she has mastered them, so that when she is standing still her spells feel almost effortless in comparison to dancing at the same time. Although she is less motivated with spells that lack a visual component, they still get the same dedication and process of perfection - just so she can stay on top of her wandwork.

All this practice has led to her having a lot of confidence in her magical ability, and she knows that it's very unlikely for her to fail a spell - or even if she does, it almost never backfires. She casts with confidence, and that is also key to success.[/reducio]

Name: Elliot Graveteaux
School: Beauxbatons
Year:2nd year
Status: Pureblood
Appearance:

Image

Elliot is 4:9 and has light brown skin with dark brown eyes and short black hair.
At first glance, he is athletic and he maintains his body well, and he is handsome

Personality:

Elliot is the sort of person you would describe as well to get along with. He is charming and happy-go-lucky person, making him well-liked and popular among his classmates. However, he can be possessive when holding onto relationships and easily jealous of other people.

History:

When you listen closely, on 31st avenue, Brantham street, you can faintly hear the sounds of laughing. Elliot was raised in a household of laughter, in a family where inside jokes and corny pick up lines were repeated… repeatedly.
He helped contribute to the laughter and general happiness in the household.
His parents, Sienna Rhodes and Ryan Rhodes were what would be described by Aunt March (from little women) ‘unworldly’. His parents were Belgian and Nigerian. The Rhodes loved their children very much and wanted the best for them. Besides Elliot, there were two sisters and one older brother who had already moved out. The two sisters were two years apart, but loved each other dearly, ignoring the fact that they were polar opposites.
The oldest sister was called Asha. She delighted in clothes, makeup, and in designing clothing. She wished to be a fashion designer one day, until she got her letter from Beaubaxtons. She went there, and decided to become a auror in the wizarding world, for she had a strong moral compass and under the basis that she did not give up easily. If she said so herself, she was a very good auror .

The second, on the other hand, went to Beaubaxtons as well and was finishing her last year there. Her name was Izzy and she adored playing football, climbing trees, and any activity outdoors. She had aspirations to be a Magizoologist, as she adored animals.

As for his brother, not much was known about him. His name was Alister and he moved away when he was 18 and applied for a job as a professor in Beaubaxtons. Very much his mother’s boy, he sent home letters often describing his job and all the tiresome details that came with it which came off as a bit whiny.

Elliot himself, was often jokingly referred to as the middle child. He was the only child still not at a wizarding school yet, and since the other children only came home at least once a month (apart from Asha she lived with them temporarily) Elliot was doted on quite a lot. He was a kind and gentle character, and therefore liked taking care of things, which when introduced to gardening, he threw himself into it heart and soul. He took care of the school’s plants as well and was said to have a ‘green thumb’ which meant that he had a natural knack for gardening and growing various plants, delicious vegetables and gorgeous flowers that dazzled the eye of the beholder. After, at a young age, he learned how to cook, and to cook well. Ever since, he had loved cooking and tending to neighbour precious plants, and often would, when he was having a bad day, or feeling upset, would take care of his plants or cook up a new recipe he hadn’t tried before. He also excelled at sports and took a particular interest in football and often practiced after school.

At the middle school he was in, he was very popular and had many friends. He also tended to hold a grudge for a long time. Life was sweet for the Rhodes family until... Ryan’s father died. When his father died, Ryan’s father’s debts (that Ryan had to pay off!) had caused them to live in a small, dingy apartment with poor lighting and three bedrooms. Despite this, the large family was happy.

First manifesto of magic: Elliot’s first manifest of magic happened when, one sunny day, he was on the small apartment’s balcony, tending to a dying plant. He closed his eyes and wished that the plant would grow and burst with vitality-he opened his eyes. Nothing happened. He felt a swell of sadness for the plant, and suddenly when he opened his eyes again, the plant was standing tall, and it’s leaves were a lush green, very different to the wilted leaves it was a couple of seconds ago.

1. It is the end of the school year, your character will be in their second year by the chance you get to play them. Please increase your character's year by 1 year, give them 5 additional stat points and consider (not required) two abilities for your character as we are only open for a limited time.
2. Your character's appearance would suggest that your 11-12 year old has full facial hair. Maybe save this pic for a couple of years down the line and find a younger image of this actor. people magazine had an image of Regé-Jean Page as a teenager in an article they did on him post Bridgeton.
3. Your student might be a giant, unfortunately part giant is not an available racial for NPCs. The average 11 year old is 4 foot 8 with the 95th percentile being 5 foot. So your character would be 9 inches above the 95th percentile. We all cannot be Hugh Lowe sadly, can you please bring him down a few inches.
4. We need your character's full name, even Madonna has a non-stage name that has a surname.
5. Your eldest sister went to Beauxbatons, meaning she was a wizard. Looking at your blood status, your a pureblood. How did your sister end up becoming a lawyer (so an expert at muggle custom and law enough to defend/prosecute) in the muggle world when her experiences prior would be wholly magical being a pureblood, raised in magical society with a magical education. Muggle experts did not even know what a rubber duckie was and their livelihood was understanding muggles. We are going to need this extensive explained. Nothing is impossible but it will be challenging with the information you have set forth already regarding this.
6. How did your second eldest sister end up going to Hogwarts when you and your eldest sister went to Beauxbatons? Hogwarts does not admit international students and Beauxbatons is located in France, as would your family if you were attending school in Beauxbatons. Again, this is not impossible but it will need to be explained.
7. I do not know if I can accept an NPC that is a Professor at Beauxbatons, I will have to verify that with the staff team. My instinct is to say that is not possible because that would mean that we have forfeited a portion of the setting to you and your NPC and would depend on your continued presence in the community, have to contend with the ramifications of inactivity if that happens and have to ensure that whatever is claimed aligned with the canon of a setting that is not heavily fleshed out to accommodate.

2. Avatar is fine (good job)

4. Elliot. We need your character's full name, even Madonna has a non-stage name that has a surname.
5. Vocations make sense for your sibling.
6. Vocations make sense for your sibling.
7. Bio states that your brother applied for a professor job, but not which oe or if he even got it. This vagueness works fine. Just keep it in roleplays to "works in/for Beauxbatons."

HISTORY
Théo Lefèvre was born on October 16th, to a witch mother and a muggle father. He was born in France, to quite rich parents. The family stayed in France for three years before moving to London, for both parents jobs.
Amélie Lefèvre is Théo's older sister, born on March 12th, 2009. Because the Lefèvres were living in London when she turned 11, she entered Hogwarts and was sorted in Ravenclaw. She came back to London at every holiday. The summer before Théo was supposed to enter a magical school, the Family moved to Strasbourg, in Alsace. That's how Théo entered Beaxbatons while Amélie stayed in Hogwarts.
When Théo was five, a new girl arrived in his class: Lucy Hendriks. They fast became best friends, even platonic soulmates. A few years later, he was learning electric guitar, she was learning acoustic guitar. They both knew how to sing and the loved to make covers of their favourite songs.
They day Théo decided to tell Lucy that they weren't going to middle school together because he was going to a French boarding school, shetold him the same thing but about a school in Scotland. They laughed and cried a lot, realising they were both wizards.
.
FIRST INSTANCE OF MAGIC
Théo and his family were in Strasbourg when the boy had his first moment of magic. He was four and his sister was seven. It was Christmas Eve and both of them were in the living room, waiting for the parents to come back from the kitchen with the dinner. Amélie was making jokes to make her brother laugh, a mission successfully achieved since the little boy was almost choking on his water.
He was so happy and laughing so hard that all the lights that were on this evening started to make more light. More light than usual, more light than those lamps could normally do. Even the little Amélie knew that something was wrong.
Maman? There's something weird here!
The mom came almost running and smiled when she saw what was happening. She saw her son laughing and the lights brightening. She knew her son was a wizard like she was a witch.

When we don't talk about the details, Théo is the most basic eleven year old boy. Brown hair, brown eyes, fair skin, 1.54m and 46kg. But when you go in details, the boy has fluffy dark brown hair. His eyes are brown, yes, but with gold and green reflects. He has freckled light skin and his left ear is pierced.

Friendly, ambivert, open-minded, clever, loyal, curious and sarcastic. Those are the adjectives we can describ Théo with. He reaches out to people, but don' easily makes friend with them. He will come, say hi, ask your name. But maybe it will be the last time you ever talk to him. Very smart, he is always in the top of the classes that he likes. Do not expect of him to work hard for something he doesn't like.

Calming Presence 419/400
"My brother. I don't know how he does it, but he calms people down. Not even on purpose! Like, I'm a very anxious person, I get stressed very easily. And I don't know how but each time I'm stressed and I go in a room in which he is in, I calm down. It's very weird, I don't understand how he does it. Maybe it's because mom is a witch."
"Théo? He does have a calming aura. Yes, he calms Amélie down just by being in the same room as her. And his fourth grade teacher, she noticed it too. One time, Théo was sick so he didn't go to school. Lucy was sad, but that was predictable. What was less predictable, is how his other friends were not able to settle down. A few days later, when my son went back to school, his friends were back to their usual behaviour in class."
"Yeah, he probably got this from his mother. When I talk to him, it's like when I talk to her. They just... soothe things out. Théo always had that way of understanding others. He listens, understands and remembers. So he wins people's trust very easily."
"I like to think I was the first to notice. But I'm only frind with him since we were like, five, so I'm probably not the first. Théo, my best friend, he unconsciously calm down the people who trusts him. Especially his sister. If you know Théo, you like him and trust him, he calm you down if you're stressed. With a look or a few words. I'm knew to the wizarding world, and I'm pretty sure it's a magical thing."
Even if he doesn't talk much to strangers, Théo hates when people are uncomfortable because they don't know anyone in the room. So he will go talk to them. And because of this, he easily creates a huge social circle, even if he talked only once or twice to most of these people. The boy always find the words to make someone feel better, whatever the situation is. And if it's not words, it's a look, a reassuring glow in his eyes that makes anyone feel better. Quite usefull when you have an axious sister.
And strangely, Théo never felt the effect he had on others. He never noticed, because he always tought it was normal. He never wondered how he found those reassuring words so easily. It was just something he knew, and it was normal to him.

1. There are some geographical considerations and issues to contend with in your bio. Ages 1-3 they lived in France. This character had a FIOM in London at age 4. Met your PC age 5. Your sister would be going to Beauxbatons (if 4th year) when you are 8. I believe that students need to be living in the region that they go to school in. with your bio, that student should be a Hogwarts student.
2. The date of birth you have chosen for your character does not align with your player character or with the year that they are. Your character (unless you are planning to stay back, but if so that is not reflected in the date of birth you have chosen) is going to be a second year in a few short weeks. that means we are taking applications for him to be also entering his second year in terms of where it says the year and the total stat allotment should be 5 points more. The DPB should be between Sept 1 2010 and Aug 31 2011. He should only be 2012 if you are planning on holding back your PC.

Following up. I have messaged Magdelina regarding this app since they looked over this originally. But your family is living in both France and the UK, so they have students in both from what I understand. Hogwarts does not admit kids that have not had an instance of underaged magic in the UK and lives in the UK as they are citizens of the British Ministry of Magic and subject to their regulations. The same would be true of Beauxbatons I believe. In any case, for the sake of consistency, I have messaged Magdelina in case I am misunderstanding something.
(July 11) I changed his first instant of magic from London to Stransbourg, so in France.

Kit was a little miffed by her summer quidditch performance. While she saved the seeker and scored one goal in a rather short game, that was the extent of her achievements when the intention had been to save three people and perhaps score a few more shots. How underwhelming. Still, it gave the Beauxbatons student a new goal and something to aim towards- she probably couldn't learn how to carry more people on her broom, but practicing how to ride precisely and efficiently while weaving through the pitch would certainly help. The French school didn't have much in the way of a training pitch, but they did have an impressive racing track and a hedge maze.

And so that was how the girl trained, spending additional time outside of her normal practice to bob and weave through the mountain tunnels and hoops, occasionally offering for other students to hit bludgers at her or throw things at her that she needed to catch- just to make things a little more complicated. While the new practice included many trips to the medic ward as she crashed into the sides of the rockface or got hit by a particularly bad bludger, these visits grew less frequent with time. From shakily flying through the course to bobing and weaving at high speeds, it was clear that the additional practice mixed with the usual sports routine had advanced her precision and technique. It came with the added benefit of being able to dodge bludgers a little easier as she didn't want to get hit along the way to save someone falling from the sky nor slow down in case they got too low to thr ground and Kit could no longer catch them.

Her focus improved her flying, but the student also realized that it helped in other situations. Getting precise movements on a broom meant proper balance and quick calculated moves and leans to get the right direction, easily translating to her own balance and quick moves on land. Moving at such speeds required quick glances and decisions, helping both when targeted by bludgers, spells, or pushy students in crowded halls. While a little different, the observation allowed her to find a new practice for this curious skill. Kit had little skill in dueling, but she could offer herself up to be a training target and learn a little from the other duelists who had to duck, spin, and roll away from spells on a daily basis. It did mean seeing the mediwizards again after she had just reduced her visits, but now the Beauxbatons student knew how to evade both in the sky and on land.

[reducio]"C'mon! Let's play!" Messy red hair bounced up and down with the girl, trying to get the two others to join. Isabelle nodded, a smile spreading across her face as both the girls turned towards Helen. The young woman glanced between the two, before letting out a soft sigh with a smile. "Alright, but just one round. Go on, you two, hide." Kit chirped in excitement, quickly dashing off. It wasn't often that she could get the two to play hide and go seek. They preferred to stick with the original, apparently.

Light footsteps would be heard, trailing around different locations to not give Helen any clues. But eventually she would stop, hiding behind a couch. It certainly wasn't the best hiding spot, but it would have to do. Wherever Isabelle might've hidden was a question for later. Now to wait.

It wouldn't take long, before Kit would find herself glancing around, trying to find where Helen had gone. She had peeked up too much, red hair rather visible against the colorless background. The young girl realized this a moment later, keeping her position for a few moments longer while Helen came towards her. She'd wait for the last minute, before quickly bouncing back out of reach. Kit decided to test her fate a little more, allowing for one more chance. A few moments of waiting, before another quick dodge out of the way, laughing from the adrenaline. It was a fun little game for the young girl, but she'd dash away, trying to find the next hiding spot. Blue-green eyes would glance around the next corridor, running in before she realized that Isabelle was standing in the middle of the walkway.

"Did you get tagged?" The younger girl would ask, bouncing on her feet slightly. Her sister would say nothing, but began to close the gap between them. A hand would whip out to try and tap the redhead, but she had side-skipped, barely getting out of the way. "You did!" she gasped, a grin widening. She would pause for a moment, before running before Isabelle or Helen could tag her in her surprise. Having two on one posed an interesting challenge, as they directed her towards a dead end. Kit didn't notice until she was almost against the wall, keeping out of both of their reaches. But in a dead end, there was only so much ducking and weaving one could do until they got tagged. Fingers would barely graze her arm, and the girl would stop, quickly turning around to face the others.

"Well that wasn't fair," she pouted, a little out of breath. Helen shook her head, huffed laughter escaping her. "No, Kitkat dear, there was nothing fair about what you were doing. We needed our own tactics to win." Isabelle would nod, offering her sister an impressed smile. "I think we'll just stick to regular hide-and-seek."[/reducio]Savior (WC: 459 words)
[reducio] Quidditch was a fun sport. Dangerous and way more competitive than she had realized. There had been talk back at home, but the importance of quidditch never really set in until Kit was trying out to join the team. Sports had never been about winning, but rather being a group to spend time with and get to know. Still, it was important that she in some way aided the team. The height of play was scary enough, not to mention adding bludgers into the mix.

One of the practices, they practiced catching in a more controlled and safe environment so that teammates might be able to help each other better when the real game came around. It was strange to have a new weight on the broom. There was some struggle with maneuverability and keeping the other person on at the same time. But still, it sounded like the perfect way to help out. Maybe even prevent some of the more serious injuries that could occur when one fell down from such a distance.

Practices remained the same, but Kit spent more time figuring out what best to use as a substitute for an additional person on the broom. Backpacks stuffed with books worked well, trying to move around easily enough without the bag toppling over and free falling down to the ground. It was strange to have less space on the broom, but the girl adjusted, challenging herself to have more room on the back of the broom. But having two people on a broom was just one step. The other was catching.

This was more challenging to practice, generally required someone else to help out. One way was by tossing the previously used backpack down to be caught. The distances were small at first- a light toss between the two, but the distance and height increased as Kit grew more confident with this skill. This didn’t mean that the backpack stayed intact, however, books pressing their edges into the fabric until it ripped. No new scratches or tears had been seen in a while, though, significant improvement from the start of her outside practices.

The second way was carrying someone. This almost always drew laughs the first few times as Kit struggled to figure out how best to get a person onto the back of her broom. For what sounded like the simple part, the second year found it rather complicated, making sure to put padding down before ever trying to pick up her friend. While the quidditch player had yet to use this new skill in a game, she was positive it would be useful at some point. Plus, it was another way for her to help out from a distance. Or on the same broom.[/reducio]Calming Presence (WC: 447 words)
[reducio]"Kit, you know you shouldn't do something like that." It was back in elementary school, after Kit had jumped off of the top of the play structure as a dare. She hadn't gotten hurt, but a teacher had spotted and told her parents about it. And so now she sat, listening to them scold again and thinking about other things. More important things in her opinion. "Isabelle wouldn't do such a thing." Katherine agreed with that, of course. Isabelle wouldn't do such a thing- but she didn't expect herself to be her older sister. So all she did was wait- and nothing else happened. She was let off and went back to playing around in the house. So why worry about expectations if all her parents would do was talk about it? Isabelle was already the better sibling, so why should Kit compete?

And with that, Katherine was generally a relaxed person- a care free person living a care free life. Sure, there was school and some stresses that came with it, but the witch didn't care about grades so long as it was passing. Plus, she had quite a few resources from her older sister and from her grandparents via owls. Her parents weren't pleased with low grades, but as Kit had never felt like the favorite of her parents, she learned to shrug it off like the other times her parents talked about disappointments. And since nothing was done asides from voicing disappointment, shrugging it off was easy. There was little punishment in Kit's world and so she could continue to be care free.

Instead, her focuses could be entirely on the activities she enjoyed- quidditch, music, and art. Everything else could remain at a passing as the second year spent most of her time working on what made her happy. The school-fun balance didn't shift much since first year, and yet it was enough to start something big. Her enjoyment in her activities and how she spent her time made her happier. And her happiness boosted confidence, conversations, and her care free nature. It created new friends and helped her find more activities that interested her, clubs that sounded really cool or muggle sports that she had never heard of before.

Her own contentment and happiness with her life changed how she held herself as she became a third year, no longer a new student yet not a role model either. This feeling and presence of her own calmness and relaxed nature could be felt by others around her- smiles to strangers, positive outlooks, and encouragement became more commonplace as she realized how it affected others, happy to spread her carefree nature to others.[/reducio]Evasive Maneuvers II (WC: 441 words)
[reducio]Kit was a little miffed by her summer quidditch performance.

It did mean seeing the mediwizards again after she had just reduced her visits, but now the Beauxbatons student knew how to evade both in the sky and on land.[/reducio]
applying for 4th year ability - cat's grace (WC: 420)
Reducio

Madeleine has always had a natural grace to her movements - it's why she was put in dance classes and excels in them. But recently that grace has extended beyond her dance ability and is being put to use in other ways. During her third year, she discovered some information that tilted her world - specifically that her father was alive and well, not dead as she had been told her whole life by her mother. And the only reason she discovered this was because he was a staff member at Hogwarts, which Beauxbatons students had been visiting for years now.

During the trip that she saw him (and after the initial shock), she started to follow him to find out more about him. It was natural to be curious about the man whom she had been told so little about, right? Mads' grace meant she was light on her feet, and so occasionally, when she saw him alone walking down a corridor, she would fall into step behind him unnoticed. He liked to go to the library a lot, and he seemed to gravitate towards Mr Browne and Nora. It would be an awfully weird coincidence if her father was friends with her own best friend's father. And speaking of said best friend, Maddie ended up using her talent to hide from Cassanora once or twice during that trip too. To avoid answering questions about where she was constantly sneaking off to without her, and to avoid having to lie to the blonde.

Maddie never thought she would be using her light-footedness to follow someone unnoticed, but that's exactly what she did during that trip to Hogwarts. It was a skill that she didn't realize she had before, but fell into quite easily considering she had great control over her own body. There was one time that she was almost caught when the Head of Ravenclaw looked over his shoulder and he seemed to sniff the air (that was really weird -maybe he was having allergies?), but she had quickly and easily ducked into one of the castle's alcoves without being spotted. Sure, her heart had been pounding at the idea of getting caught, but almost in a good way? She had found something she was unexpectedly good at - sneaking around and staying in the shadows - and it was proving quite useful. Of course, during that particular trip she wouldn't realize the full potential of her skills, but as the years go on her cat-like stealth would come in handy.
27.94 cm (11 inches) beech wood and white river monster spine, flexible
+1 accuracy with charms, -2 wisdom DC (WDC) requirement when casting a charm
[reducio]Madeleine was practically born in a wandshop.

She is adaptable and flexible to situations in life because of her family, friends and the experiences she has had thus far and to come.[/reducio]
[reducio]will list the spells with different appearances here later[/reducio]

Her entire life, Sylvie was taught to do whatever she must to succeed in life. When she arrived at Beauxbatons, this mindset was constantly challenged by the core values of the school: she could succeed through her own skills and be a good sport, the school emphasized to her. She had spent her first few years at school pouring over the correct techniques for broom racing and dedicating virtually all of her time to the sport. Her dedication had paid off, but it involved many hours and a level of commitment Sylvie had not invested in any other endeavor. This mixed messaging began messing with Sylvie’s head as she continued broom racing during the school year and spending time at home in the summers. Trust your skills, Beauxbatons coaxed her, while the Favreau manor insisted Sylvie go big or go home. After all, they were an upscale Pureblood family. No one in their circle got to where they were today without some secretive trickery. Utilizing one’s skillset was considered seizing an opportunity to get ahead in life. As influential as her schooling was, it was not strong enough to distill the influence of growing up surrounded by the extreme extravagance living in the Favreau manor came with. Sylvie was used to a certain level of sophistication and she knew that the easiest way to get to the top was through some cheating. It would make her life much simpler and she could spend more time doing other things rather than practicing broom racing.

Not that she needed to, of course. Sylvie excelled at everything she did; her family would accept nothing less, of course, and as the female twin of the family, she felt extremely pressured to prove her worth within her family. General sibling rivalry was a tough competition, but Sylvie’s perception of this rivalry was only magnified by the fact that she had a twin brother going through the same stages of life at exactly the same time as her. Of course, they were family, so his successes were her successes but in the back of Sylvie’s mind, her brother’s success in dueling only fueled her desire to win even more. She loved her family very much, but there was no denying that her utmost desire in life was to be the best, even within her family’s hierarchical structure. Sylvie’s drastic change in mindset began to occur about halfway through her schooling at Beauxbatons. Noticing the incredible successes of her brother, Amaury, in his dueling endeavors and comparing that to her own lack of accomplishment, she realized that perhaps doing things with a clean moral compass was overrated. Who cared how she got to the top if she was already there? What mattered most was the fact that she was at the top. No one would bother with the specifics of exactly what she did to get there.

As the phrase suggests, “whoever said cheaters never prosper or cheaters never win never encountered Sylvie.” The uptight nature of her household allowed her to perfect the art of deceit and thus, Sylvie became the master of deception. She could do anything, and she would do anything. She was a Favreau, after all. It would be inconceivable to think otherwise.

Steady Flyer
Reducio
Sylviane’s fear of failure led her to picking up the sport of broom racing during her first year at Beauxbatons. Her twin brother, Amaury, quickly found his place on the dueling team and Sylvie felt pressured to choose something extracurricular as well. She thought dueling was quite frivolous; people stood around waving their wands at each other and it all seemed quite boring to her. Quidditch was an option, but her older sister was an incredible chaser and Sylvie hated the idea that people would perceive her as following in Nicolette’s footsteps. Sylvie was going to forge her own path, which is why she immediately gravitated toward broom racing.

Everything about it intrigued and delighted her. She loved the idea of flying as quickly as possible while also navigating oneself through an obstacle course…while also trying to sabotage other people. It was the perfect mix of a solo and team sport. She could assist her team when necessary but still take the glory for herself by finishing the course in first place. As soon as she discovered the sport, Sylvie immediately began practicing as much as she could. Time not spent studying was spent practicing her technique, learning how to evade the obstacles while still maintaining control over her broom. She purchased herself a new broom as a present at the end of her first year, a celebratory way of showing herself she was succeeding at this.

The elegance in which Sylvie carried herself off of the field translated to her ability to navigate broom racing courses. Years of etiquette training and critiques from her mother about incorrect posture or failure to raise her pinky at exactly the right angle when she was sipping her tea instilled an innate knowledge within Sylvie about the whereabouts of all of her limbs at all times. She had always been tall for her age, and even though she was sure she had finished growing, her elongated stature could be a disadvantage in her ability to evade obstacles. Fortunately for Sylvie, her inherent skill and ability learned from hours of broom racing practice allowed her to breeze through courses without so much as brushing any obstacle.

Encountering obstacles and successfully evading them was a skill of Sylvie’s, both literally and figuratively. Even off of the broom racing field, Sylvie prided herself on her determination and grit, never wavering in the face of adversity and always finding a way through any obstacle that dared to put itself in her path. Her work ethic and strong personality proved only to be an asset in regards to broom racing, as she never backed down from any of the obstacles on the course, even if they were slightly terrifying. The only way out is through: a wise adage and Sylvie’s mantra when facing difficult obstacles both in her life and on the broom racing course. She had to get out, so she went through.

Unfettered Flight
Reducio
Balance. It was one of those qualities that people desired to have, both figuratively and literally. For Sylviane Cordelia Adele Favreau, it came to her in both of these ways. Much of this could be attributed to her upbringing, with the extensive etiquette lessons about how to conduct herself and the many years of dancing lessons she took to learn the proper way to move gracefully. Within dance, balance was a key element of mastering moves. Sylvie caught on quickly. Not only was balance achieved in her life in this way, but living at home with her three siblings and her parents fostered an environment where she needed to find the mental balance as well. Expectations from her parents, herself, her siblings, and her peers fought for control in Sylvie’s brain. The only way to handle this was through prioritization and balance of these warring expectations. Compartmentalization became an important part of Sylvie’s ability to be successful. She was able to store away all of her other worries and focus on one thing at a time, depending on what was most pressing in the moment.

This skill became critical to her success in broom racing. She learned how to focus on multiple things at a time while being able to successfully give just enough attention to each so she would be able to control her broom with one part of her brain while playing on the offense if there were opponents around her. It was almost an inherent ability for Sylvie, having all of these expectations (in life) or variables (in broom racing) being thrown at her at the same time but being able to balance them in a way where she could hold them all together without dropping any of them. It was a tiring act, but nothing that Sylvie couldn’t handle. She prided herself in her ability to do it all. One could not be perfect if they were not able to handle the most at any point in time, and she was constantly proving to herself and those around her that she did indeed have the capacity to be perfect. She could keep perfect control of her broom while throwing things at opponents. She could orchestrate a successful dinner while navigating the throes of people and politely conversing with each. While the two worlds of aggressive broom racing and upscale French society were vastly different from each other, Sylvie found that the skills she had acquired through living in both of these worlds applied synonymously.

YEAR ONE | LOVELY CREATURE
[reducio]There’s no denying that Sylviane Favreau had been blessed in the genetic department. For that, she has mainly her mother to thank. While she acquired her father’s dark hair and tall stature, the rest of her features more closely resemble her mother, Lucille. The blue eyes, the defined jawline, the clear complexion, all from her mother. Her entire family had good genes that were quickly passed to her. With long, silky hair and piercing blue eyes, Sylvie is what many people would call beautiful. Commanding a room was something Sylvie never had an issue with, and she liked to think that while it was definitely partly her confident personality, it was also the fact that people were so struck with her looks. The fact that beauty was so captivating was something that Sylvie liked to often play to her advantage whenever she could. At Pureblood parties and gatherings, she wouldn’t hesitate to flash a smile or manipulate someone through her flirtatious comments. She quickly learned it was easy to get what she wanted when she was charming and beautiful.

The maids at the Favreau manor always hyped Sylvie up, gushing over her beautiful locks and her clear skin. They loved every second they had with the French girl, offering to put her hair in a fancy updo just so they could admire the sleek, silky, softness of her brown locks. They often offered to take Sylvie shopping as well, helping her pick out the best outfits that accentuated her eyes or complimented her hair. They made sure that Sylvie’s outfits were fitting for a girl of her age but also flattering, matching her shape. Being dressed to the nines was the icing on the cake for Sylvie’s looks.

All of this put together allowed Sylvie to be the star of the show when she needed to be, especially at the many Pureblood galas her family hosted. Her perfect skin with some added makeup put a glow on her face that enticed people closer to admire her. When she combed out her hair and put it into a fancy updo, people awed over the sleek sophistication of the look. Pairing small accessories with a stunning dress picked out at one of the best designer stores accentuated Sylvie’s height and confidence, allowing her to stand out amongst the crowd. Her confidence clearly showed adding only more to her beauty. Other Purebloods would always make the point to tell Sylvie or her parents how wonderful she looked, telling her how lovely she was.

YEAR TWO | CHARMER
[reducio]Since Sylvie came out of the womb, her parents had taught her how to be charming. They were Purebloods, after all, and they had to keep up a good reputation among the community. One wrong move and they could be excommunicated in a heartbeat; this pressure of always putting up a perfect facade was ingrained into Sylvie’s mind as soon as she could understand languages. If anyone in the world was the reason why the 'posh French' stereotype existed, it was because of the Favreau family. Sylvie’s parents constantly drilled proper etiquette into their minds; as they were learning to walk, they were learning the proper way to sit at the table and how to be a courteous hostess when other families came to visit.

Attending many fancy dinners and balls within the Pureblood community allowed Sylvie to hone her skills; she always sat perfectly at the table and did not interrupt any conversations. At balls she danced the proper way and always radiated the image of a perfectly polite and put together young woman. When speaking with her elders and other Pureblood families, Sylvie would always make sure to turn on the charm, always finding at least one thing she could compliment them on and connect with them on. She made sure to have a balanced handshake - not too soft but not too firm - and made sure to always look the person in the eye and smile. Always in the back of Sylvie’s mind were her parents’ words that these galas and balls were a chance to show the other Pureblood families who they were and perhaps find a suitable match for her when the time came. She had to make a good impression on everyone; no Pureblood family wants an unkempt or unrefined girl to marry into their family.

Turning on her charm during these events was a skill she mastered from a young age and it didn’t always stop there. Once she arrived at Beauxbatons, Sylvie started out as a much different person than she turned out to be. Used to playing dirty or forging under the table deals to get what she wanted, Sylvie was taken aback by the showmanship traits that Beauxbatons drilled into their students’ heads. She quickly learned how to turn on the charm in front of her professors and how to quickly turn it back off when they weren’t around so she could get what she needed. What others might call being the teacher’s pet or sucking up, Sylvie turned on her charm to woo her professors into seeing that she was a mature and worldly young woman that did the Favreau name proud.

YEAR THREE | EVASIVE MANEUVERS I
[reducio]Sylvie had grown up always keeping on her toes. Her family was so strict that Sylvie always felt that she had to walk on eggshells when she was around her parents, especially her father. One wrong move could lead to a disaster of screaming and lectures about how to be more refined. Being able to dodge these lectures and always walk with grace was something that Sylvie learned, despite the less than ideal circumstances, at a very young age.

Sylvie was used to always having many people in her home; her parents were constantly planning dinner events or dances that were hosted at their large estate. They always found a reason to celebrate. When Sylvie was too young to actually attend these events, she would watch from the sidelines as the adults mingled and talked and the servers ran around the people trying to keep everything perfectly in order. She had learned quickly how to stay out of the way; even though these events looked so put together and calm, there was a surprising amount of chaos that was going on behind the scenes. Sylvie had learned how to quickly evade this chaos and watch all of the events transpire from the safety of her bedroom or hiding on the spiral staircase of their house.

As someone who was always taller than average, Sylvie made it a point to not be the type of tall person that was gangly and klutzy simply because they were taller than average. She worked extra hard to move with the elegance and grace that both her mother and sister exerted and took extra precautions to make sure she was always sure footed. This enabled her to avoid any possible falls that could occur as well as quickly move out of the way of any incoming dangers. When Sylvie and her twin brother Amaury turned ten, their parents signed them up for an in depth self defense course. Of course, while they did learn all of the basic self defense moves that a Muggle would learn in a self defense class, they also learned many other skills as well. They learned how to defend themselves against possible mythical creatures they could encounter; they learned how to evade harmful plants such as Devil’s Snare. They learned quickly how to roll and evade if someone was attacking them with spells and formed the proper technique to run as quickly away as possible if something was chasing them. These skills proved quite useful to Sylvie as she progressed through her life, and found that she had become quite good at evading anything she needed to despite her tall stature.

YEAR FOUR | EVASIVE MANEUVERS II
[reducio]When Sylvie first arrived at Beauxbatons, she had no idea how to participate in broom racing. While she had heard of the sport and the perils of some of the courses that past participants had dealt with, she had never tried the sport but was quite interested in it. Sylvie attempted the sport for the first time during her first year at Beauxbatons. During her earlier life, she had always been taught that she should get to the end no matter who she had to hurt in the process or what methods she had to use to get there. Foul play was something that wasn’t out of the picture for the young French girl as she navigated the treacherous broom racing courses. However, this was something that was frowned upon at Beauxbatons. As a school that emphasized good showmanship and having good grace, expression, and elegance, Sylvie’s teachers instilled these messages within her and she learned from them to not play dirty in order to get what she wanted; she had the skillset to still win when she wasn’t cheating.

From then on, Sylvie attacked the broom racing field with a new rigor. She poured herself into the sport, spending any extra free hours that she wasn’t studying on the field, practicing her moves. Especially when she learned that Beauxbatons offered very few scholarships for extra talented broom racers, Sylvie had a new goal to look toward and that was receiving one of those scholarships. Determined to prove that she had the skills to win at broom racing based on her pure talent, Sylvie honed her skills and specifically focused on her evasion. There were many obstacles on the course and she had to make sure that she could still fly at top speed while avoiding these barriers. Hours and hours of practice allowed the girl to shape her moves, figuring out the best way to spot incoming obstacles and how to react quickly enough to avoid them before crashing into them.

Of course, this did not happen overnight; no one snapped their fingers and Sylvie was suddenly an expert broom racer. And of course, Sylvie knows that she still has a lot of practice she still needs to do in order to improve even more than she already has. However, compared to the broom racer Sylvie had been on the first day of her first year at Beauxbatons, she is a much more skilled and honest player when it comes to broom racing.

WC: 414[/reducio]

YEAR FIVE | FOULPLAY
[reducio]Her entire life, Sylvie was taught to do whatever she must to succeed in life.

YEAR SIX | STEADY FLYER
[reducio]Sylviane’s fear of failure led her to picking up the sport of broom racing during her first year at Beauxbatons.

YEAR SEVEN | UNFETTERED FLIGHT
[reducio]Balance.

APPROVED - Your trunk, however, says "Quidditch Player? YES" and "Broom Racer? NO". I am going to assume this is a mistake, based on the "Extracurricular: Broom Racer" and how your abilities mention BR specifically.

As such, I'm putting you as a Broom Racer. However, if this is a mistake and you want to be a Quidditch Player - please post and let us know ASAP. - Hjørdis

There's always this one person around you that pushes you to do better, set your goals higher, work to be the best self you can be. Or at least, everyone should have a person like that.

Raphael never thought he'd need one. He'd been perfectly content pushing himself where it mattered, training by himself to be faster, more nimble, more accurate (while, of course, completely neglecting other school work). And then he'd met Cassie, her relentless enthusiasm and energy. At first, he'd mostly respected her as a fellow broomracer and football fan. They'd started playing together and training together, until one day, he'd turned to laugh at one of her jokes, and realised that they were probably friends. (Surprise?) In the last year, however, their relationship had turned into something even more... weird.

It had started because Raphael had decided he needed to build up some muscle mass to be a better broomracer, and thus he had allocated half of his trunk for weight training equipment when he'd returned from summer break in 2022. (The trunk had been ridiculously heavy, and his poor non-magical father had been cursing non-stop while heaving it out of his car when he'd dropped Raphael off for the new school year.)

Cassie had, of course, quickly figured out what he was doing - the fact that he'd been using the nice weather to work out outside had possibly tipped her off - and, since she was almost-as or perhaps even-more serious about broomracing (depending on who you asked) as he was, had immediately decided to join, or rather, beat him, to both Raphael's bemusement and amusement. It was Cassie, so... he supposed he didn't mind her inserting herself into his workout sessions.

As things tended to go, it quickly turned into a mix between competition and ridiculous sort of game between them. They would compete on who could do more reps with weights, more squats, more push-ups, and then, of course, the most prestigious class of silly rivalries: Who could do more pull-ups in more absurd locations. The bar he'd brought to lock into doorframes was only the beginning, and to no one's surprise, it was Cassie who suggested taking things to the - as she put it - next level. But then, Raphael certainly hadn't resisted the escalation of events, and couldn't deny that some of the competitive spirit he brought to football games and broomraces was starting to infect him here, too.

So they did pull-ups on their brooms, floating a not very dangerous but certainly not very prudent distance above ground. Cassie won that one, Raph's hand, slick with sweat, had slipped after a few, and he'd fallen two meters to the ground. They did pull-ups on doorframes, which was perhaps less dangerous, but also more difficult, as there was less grip to cling to. Raph had secured a win there, his finger strength proving superior. And, finally, they did pull-ups on the Quidditch hoops. Raph could later not recall with any certainty who had come up with that one, although he was inclined to blame Cassie. At least they'd come up with a safety net of sorts, that would save them from plummeting almost 10 meters to the ground if they fell. (Which, needless to say, they did.)

All of said competition did have one big advantage, however: The training definitely worked. The exercises became easier, so he adjusted the difficulty; he increased his pull-up capabilities from three to seven to nine. Weights got heavier, workouts got longer... and if he got into the habit of slightly flexing his newly acquired muscles whenever a pretty girl walked past, well, who could blame him?

The Muggle Condition [412 words]
[reducio]Growing up, Raphael hadn't cared about many things.

School was boring, it was hard to focus on learning dry things from books while locked into a room with twenty-five other kids and a bunch of stale air. More often than not, his gaze strayed from the numbers on the page in front of him to the window and the blue sky beyond. If only they'd let him move.

People were boring, with their endless drama and demands, asking of him things he didn't want to do, hadn't cared to do. The squabbling of other kids over whose pen this was, who got to sit next to who, who was invited to which birthday. Raphael usually didn't want to go. They were boring.

What he did care about, though, were sports. Any kind of sports was good - PE classes at his school saw him excelling in athletics, although he preferred ball sports - but from the moment his father took him to a local club's match, Raphael's true love proved to be football (the British football, not the American kind). The football field was where you could see his usually impassive expression change for one of excitement, where you would see him passionately chase after a ball - where he felt like himself. There were evenings spent on goal practice alone, satisfaction rushing through him when he managed to aim the ball in the exact corner he wanted, a smile on his face that was rarely seen. The football field was where Raphael was most at home.

It was where his father would find him at 8 pm when the sun went down and he'd missed supper, and where he would have gone in the mornings if not for that pesky thing called school. (He'd tried. His father hadn't been pleased.) An avid fan of Liverpool F.C, Raphael was already dreaming of his career as a professional player... until that invitation to l'Académie de Magie Beauxbâtons came and threw a wrench into his plans. No football there, no sir, just more time spent sitting in classrooms, trying to do things he wasn't good at, the magic he was supposed to learn failing more often than it should and not powerful even when it obeyed.

At least they had other sports, and all that time spent ducking between two opponent players trying to steal the ball from him, or burying the ball into the net, paid off there, too. Still... it wasn't the same.

[reducio]Growing up, Raphael hadn't cared about many things.

He hadn't had to. Born into a storybook family - father, mother, him, and a little sister five years later. Wealthy enough to not lack anything he might want, talented enough to slip through the first few years of school without getting into trouble for his lack of investment. Life had been easy, free of worries, things that broke were easily replaced. For the first few years of his life, Raphael had been as carefree as a butterfly, chasing after things that were colourful and interesting, never worrying about falling for he could fly.

It didn't hold though, few things as happy do. After his mother left when he was a boy, something changed. What had been simple carelessness grew into something more. Where things hadn't fazed him before, now they didn't interest him. Unconcern turned into apathy. You might expect that his mother leaving when he was young, but not so young as not to realise the implications, might have left Raphael with a fear of separation, a constant worry that his father, his sister, his friends would leave, too. That things that broke would be gone for good. For Raphael, it did the opposite.

It had taken a while for his father to notice, longer than it should have, perhaps, but when he did, he grew concerned. He could not remember the last time Raphael had come to him with something that excited him, worried him, much less frightened him. This was an eight year old boy who didn't fear the dark or needles at the doctor, did not flinch from dogs, stared down a fifty metre drop without blinking. He got rid of spiders by himself, mostly because his sister asked him to, was not intimidated by teachers, and showed no sense of self-preservation when facing fire. It was worrying for more reasons than one.

People often use the word "fearlessness" to describe "bravery", but in truth, the two are very different. Fear is something natural, something healthy, often, that keeps us alive. Warns us to stay away from things that might hurt us. Bravery is conquering those fears when they are unwarranted, or when there is a reason that defies self-preservation. Fearlessness, on the other hand, means that there was no fear to begin with, and it is not usually something that should be pursued.

Raphael was not brave. Raphael was fearless.[/reducio]ꕤEvasive Maneuvers [437 words]
[reducio]Growing up, Raphael hadn't cared about many things.

Sports and his sister, those ranked at the top. His friends and father were somewhere up there, too. That was mostly it. So when Raphael had started attending Beauxbatons, three of those four things had suddenly been out of reach. Not completely, of course. He could send his family letters, and could have asked them to deliver messages to his friends, too, although he could not explain why he had suddenly left to attend a fancy boarding school. Or where that school was, or what it was called. Really, most of his friendships didn't hold for very long after that.

He still kind of kept up with his favourite sports teams via a radio that was somehow enchanted to function around magic, and could thankfully be set to receive Muggle radio channels as well. As for playing, Raphael threw himself into the sports that Beauxbatons had to offer. Duelling relied too much on magic, and not enough on physical activity, but broom sports, those were fun. (Not as good as football, but who could ask for that?)

And so, rather than spending his free time on football fields, Raphael started spending his free time on brooms. Dodging bludgers. Dodging obstacles. Dodging other players trying to crash into him. Dodging spells aimed at him. Dodging magical beasts that were added to the broom racing courses because apparently, in the magical world, no sport was complete without the very high risk of serious injury. Not that football players did not get injured frequently, but at least the rules tried to prevent rather than encourage this.

There was a learning curve to it, of course. You didn't just sit on a broom for the first time and magically have perfect control. Well, unless you were Harry Potter, maybe. But Raphael did have a knack for sports, and the determination to make up for his lack of experience. More of the latter than the former, if you asked him.

He supposed you couldn't really spend that much time playing wizard sports without at some point developing reflexes that were borderline supernatural. It was hard to explain, really, what set off his instincts. The whistling of a ball coming closer at a speed that threatened to break bones, the odd draft of air, the sounds of a mumbled incantation, sometimes just the feeling of hair standing up at the back of his neck, an inexplicable sensation telling him that something was coming, and Raphael moved to evade, in a swerve or a loop, dropping a few feet or rising up to dodge what was coming.[/reducio]ꕤEvasive Maneuvers II [439 words]
[reducio]Three years after Raphael had started attending the Beauxbatons Academy of Magic, he still felt kind of bitter about it. More than bitter... cheated, that was probably the right word. Forced into a world where he constantly felt out of place, worse than he had before.

He had never been good at making friends, and with the loss of all his known relationships, his approach had changed more towards… actively avoiding. It had not seemed worth putting in the energy, the thought was exhausting. Hence, more than ever, Raph had started spending his time focused on sports. Broom racing, Quidditch, those thankfully did not require magic, and soon enough Raphael spent more of his waking time on a broom than on solid ground. Last summer, for lack of alternatives, he had picked up running as a sport he could do both at home and at school, and it had quickly turned into a habit.

That had come with an unexpected side-effect of social relationships… kind of sneaking up on him. He would not call them friends, exactly, more slightly less annoying acquaintances, maybe. That he enjoyed doing sports with, and did not mind hanging out with generally. But no, definitely not friends.

After all, he obviously only spent time with them because there was a tangible benefit. It was hard to play football by himself, and only dodging trees by himself, without competition, and without unexpected attacks coming from the side, got too easy after a while. Clearly, training himself to dodge incoming balls quicker, more effortlessly, more instinctively, was the only reason he kept asking Cassie to play with him, and that during one of their many morning runs, he had finally also asked Ye-jun if he was interested in playing some football every now and then.

It was not wrong, of course. Training with Cassie, playing with Ye-jun, it sharpened his reflexes. More than once, a small smile snuck onto Raph’s face when Cassie exclaimed in surprise after he had shifted his broom to the right just enough to escape an incoming projectile that he could not possibly have seen coming. It even evolved into a game of Cassie randomly throwing things at him, trying to catch him off-guard… with a surprisingly low quota of success. The intended effect was definitely there. Yet, if he was honest, the more time passed, the more the (very effective) training became an excuse, to see Cassie, to hang out with Ye-jun.

Well. No matter the reasons, excuses or not, by the end of his third year at Beauxbatons, Raphael had uncanny dodging abilities… and possibly even a friend or two.

[reducio]There's always this one person around you that pushes you to do better, set your goals higher, work to be the best self you can be.

Beauxbatons NPC  iNPC Registry
Hi. I'd like my iNPC (Mathis Aloysius) from my previous account (Ciel Saskia) to be on this account :]
Name: Mathis Aloysius
School: Beauxbatons
Year: 2nd
Status: Muggle-born
Appearance: Surprisingly short for his age, Mathis ("Mat") is only 4'6 or 137cm. His parents are still really surprised on how short he is, considering both of them were frighteningly tall for their age. Besides his height, Mat has brown skin and almost black hair- most of the time he styles it back with copious amounts of gel. Anytime he's not wearing his school uniform, he's rocking a leather jacket and black jeans.
The one defining factor for Mat is that he's blind in his left eye due to a nasty fall. This doesn't interfere with his everyday life- any hearing loss he had also suffered has since been fixed, and he's able to see just fine out of his right eye.
Image
Personality: What Mat lacks in height, he more than makes up for it in personality. Mat has always seen himself as a cool kid, even when he was in a friend group with other the other children at school. He puts himself on a pedestal, refuses to be careful and even if he's feeling brave argues against authority. Though the last time he had talked back to his mother, he had gotten a very stern lecture.
Though he might seem a bit faux, Mat is still very friendly, if a bit pushy. He has a tendency to go over boundaries and can be a bit on the annoying side. His friendliness gives him the ability to strike up a conversation with just about anyone he finds interesting, but those people might find him reckless and harsh with his words.
History: Born November 12th, 2011 to Élodie and Zane Aloysius, Mathis was a perfect baby. After dealing with a loss before, they were ready to finally have their son in their lives. Someone to continue the Aloysius legacy and also just a child to raise of their own.
On Mathis' fourth birthday, however, something went wrong. Unable to contain his excitement, the toddler Mathis ran all the way down the stairs in the Aloysius house- and then unthinkable happened. He tripped. The fall landed with Mathis falling on his head, luckily without a concussion and only a broken nose.
But Mathis had lost his vision in his left eye- and a little bit of hearing in his left ear too, due to the pressure. The experience was scary, and Mathis had spent a week in the hospital. Though he was considered lucky to have only lost eyesight in one eye, rather than both, Mathis would never, ever run down a flight of stairs again.
Despite his loss of eyesight, it never seemed to bother the boy. He was still able to learn at school just fine, but he still had to adjust to monocular vision, rather than binocular vision. Sometimes he'd miss lines on paper, and occasionally he'd grab at something only to completely miss it on the first try. The little things that he had to adjust to weren't enough that it was a huge cause for concern, but it was definitely frustrating.
When Mathis realized that he was a wizard, it was just a normal Saturday afternoon, sometime when he was eight or nine. While he was outside playing with his schoolfriends by a river, they all began making dares to see who could skip a rock the farthest. The boys all chose their rocks, with Mathis choosing a big and heavy one, and began skipping. The tallies marked and they'd all get one or two, with the highest score being four!
And then it was Mathis turn- although he still had some perception issues due to his monocular vision, he thought he could still get a few skips in. He readied his arm, pointed at the river and then skip!
One, two, three... wait- the rock began skipping across the river over and over again, counting up eight and then nine and then it was at the other end of the river! It wasn't like the river was a small skinny one, it was at least 20 feet! His eyes were wider than ever, what had even happened? Why did his rock skip like a billion times? The high score of 4 was quickly beat.

Mathis still has some troubles with his eyesight, despite the fact that he has adapted well to his vision loss. His body has slowly had to adjust to his lack of vision, his ears have grown stronger, his sense of smell has gotten better and his ability to tell what objects are despite not being able to exactly see them- all of this has been his body adjusting.
Mathis has learned the entirety of his house without having to see- he knows exactly when to turn before hitting a wall, where to stop to not bump into desks or tables, exactly where the difference between the tile flooring in the kitchen and the carpet in the living room. He's almost always on autopilot in his house.
This adjustment had become most prevalent when his house had lost power, plunging everything in darkness in the middle of the night. They lived far out into the country, there were no streetlamps or cars to light up the house, and Mathis had to somehow get to his parents' bedroom.
The walk to their bedroom was slightly more complicated than getting from the kitchen to the living room. Unlike the two other rooms which were on the same floor, Mathis had to blindly walk up steps and try to deduce where the bedroom was. He seldom goes up the stairs since his incident but knew exactly how many there were. It was simple to someone who could see- but in the darkness of the house and the lack of vision in one eye, Mathis was not someone who could currently see.
Fourteen steps up, that was his first mission. If he could make it up fourteen steps, then he'd be at the second floor. Hold the rail until he felt the sudden bump up at the end of the railing, which signaled that he had stood on the last step. Good, now he had to turn right until he heard the sound of the air conditioner running. His parents always slept with the air conditioner loud enough to hear from their bedroom, even with the door shut.
All he had to do now was turn right and feel for the door. The knob was on the lefthand side, closer to the wall. The doorknob was semi-rusted, and you could feel the ridges from where it was placed in the door before you could feel the actual doorknob itself. Mathis searched the door, running both of his hands until he felt the ridges.
There, he had made his way up the stairs and to his parents' room; now all he had to do was wake them and tell them the power was out. That would be much easier than navigating the house.

Really, Mathis knew how to keep someone's attention growing up. Though he was raised by his mother and father, he had learned tips from his grandfather when the old man would take his grandson out for his birthday.
Always talk with your accent- that was the first tip. When speaking English, make sure to put just enough emphasis with your French accent to keep people interested, but not too much that they can't understand. Learning how to walk that line took several months of practice, but eventually Mat had learned with what words it was acceptable to roll his r's. Depending on the company, it would've been easy to keep someone's attention without much work.
The second tip was to always look and smell nice, which would arguably be more important when applying for a job. Using a good cologne would be majorly important with this tip. (Mat himself had asked for a rather pricey brand of the stuff for his birthday). Looking good was the other part and would be a bit more difficult. To Mat, in order to look good, you had to have style- and his style consisted of black leather jackets he had saved up for months to buy. And the hair, always the hair; style it back and slick it with gel, and he looked identical to some greaser from the 60's.
The third and final tip was arguably the most important for Mat. Even if he was too tired to look nice and maybe let his accent slip, the last tip would always stick in his mind. 'Whatever you do, sound like you're always tryin' to be nice to someone.'
But... what was that supposed to mean to the young boy? Obtusely, it meant that he would have to never be rude but for some reason, that didn't seem to be what his grandfather was talking about. Being nice to someone- no, that was wrong. It was trying to be nice to someone. No matter what, make sure you sound like you're trying to be nice. So... even if he was being rude, as long as he phrased it in a way that was trying to be nice, it'd make him still sound charming? Okay. Easy peasy.
When he spoke to adults, he followed the rules with ease. When he spoke to classmates and other students his age, he adjusted the rules accordingly. It was like a game, keeping up this exterior that made everyone pay just a bit more attention to him. It was rather easy, if he were to be completely honest.

But... what was that supposed to mean to the young boy?
It was rather easy, if he were to be completely honest.[/reducio]

History: Autumn's childhood isn't quite rough. In fact, it is the happiest kind of childhood one can ever imagine. Born in the Flowers' great manor located in the middle of one of French's forests, Autumn got her name purely because she is born in Autumn, and that became her favourite season. Mum came from a distant pure-blood family coming from Hogwarts, she was somehow distantly related to Slytherin but perhaps this was a lie, Autumn never knew. Dad went to Beauxbatons as a kid and was brought up by his grandmother because of his parent's untimely death of dragon pox. They met in America where they both travelled for a around-the-world trip, but Autumn doesn't know. Why should they worry their little girl about the things she doesn't have to know? The whole of Autumn's childhood is spent in their manor and the great forest, where she played in the creeks and climbed trees, developing a strong love for nature. Her first instance of magic was when she was climbing an oak tree near a lake when she was 6, and she slipped, unbalanced, then fell, screaming. Dad came rushing to save her. Surprisingly, Autumn hit the ground quite softly and unhurt. Her parents were so happy, they declared they would take her to Paris for a week.
