Devil's Island
The secret of a dreamer was to think with evident difference from others. The truth of radicalism was to refuse to be confined by the restrictions of conventions. The reality of life was the necessity of considerations outside of the rules to survive. The Engelbrecht family had long grown accustomed to such laws — it was why their son achieved an undeniable success at such a tender year. He would die trying before following the pack. An intellectual with the audacity of a bastard, it was only in his blood to direct his attention towards more creative solutions.
To the wandering eye, Anthonie could have seemed to be a man distracted, under the worst circumstances, no less. His eyes stole glances with the peace of a meterologist facing a raging storm — a calm almost impossible, lightly tinted with glimmers of curiosity. It was when his vision snagged on the balcony that an idea struck. Eyes usually a pale blue now flashed the cerulean of the sky with sheer determination. Gently pushing Aulis and Arturo out of his way, Anthonie stepped towards the open terrace, wand gripped in his hand. He surveyed the scene below him, a tangled web of tentacles and screams, breath hitching at the thought of mere children in danger.
He did not have his ski break cut short just for his charges to die under the hands of his rigid-minded peers.
With the same command he demanded in his alma mater’s halls, Anthonie turned to his fellow professors, features vaguely unimpressed. “Everyone,” he called, raising. Ahdn as he beckoned the rest to follow. He hoped it would be sufficient to silent their trivial disagreements. Even under such circumstances, Anthonie found the ghost of a wink as he blinked, hidden away as he advanced towards the edges of their lodgings, dangerously strong-minded. “There are always more ways out than just one.”
His plan was simple, though perhaps pungent with the sharp edge of unexpectedness. It was a talent of his. His fellow wizards, bound by a logic that restricted as much as it served, their perspectives blurred by treacherous boundaries they perceived as hard borders. The thought had dawned upon him in a blinking instant. All adults equipped with a wide array of spells, Descendo being one of them, making their ways down from the balcony should have been no issue. Proclaiming the idea to his fellow wizards and witch he wasted no time on sweet pleasantries as he pressed himself to the railings, gauging their descent with sharp eyes. It was undoubtedly doable, especially with the gathered aptitude.
No vexation would be displayed evidently on a face kept perfectly still; at most, the barest hints of annoyance. It bordered on frightening how their collection of wizards of such supposed greatness tunnel-visioned on the same, insufficient solution without consideration of alternatives. There was a reason the Engelbrechts were both radicals and educator — either was useless without the other.
But the last thing to offer a drowning man was a lecture.

The collective group of adults were clearly tested and fortified in how to deal with a crisis and Arturo allowed the lot of them to focus on the direct action needed for escape. A strong gaze went quick to the Devil's Snare that moved with such dastardly intent that Arturo was worried for his old school that it might be a root structure that rivaled the town and school finally releasing its plan for destruction. He couldn't think like that though and returned back to the task at hand with the typical bickering from Aulis and some of the fellow Hogwarts' professors.
As the headmaster from Uagadou offered a solution to their problem, Arturo allowed him to share where and how they would get out of their High Houses building to get to their students. " We'll need to see where the students are at the very least. " Offering his own two cents as he began to cast the spell " Homenum Revelioa. " Including the movement of his wand waving downwards in a South-East direction, connecting with a half circle, and then wave upwards in a North-East direction to hopefully allow those around him to see where the students they needed to save were. The darkness still heavy enough to keep them mostly in the dark.
When he was finished, he moved closer to Anthonie and would allow himself to descend down if the spell cast was successful. " If you all want to check on your students, I can search for the source of this Devil's Snare variant. " He was the only one who wasn't currently a professor and was probably best fit for the exploration considering he had only left Tenūsa about a year ago to return back to the Wilds.

FINAL MODERATION OF PART ONEWham, bam, alakazam! The adults of the schools gathered here to celebrate were clearly not to be trifled with. @Akinyi Odera's attempt to leave through the front door was made much easier by @Aulis Vorozheykin and @Ruckus Weems, whose combination of slicing and fire (respectively) cleared the entryway enough for all three of them to slip easily out into the fresh air. Maybe Aulis's spell was just a teensy bit more effective. Who's to say?
Standing in for Lawrence in this moderation round to end part 1 of the event!
@Anthonie Engelbrecht, on the other hand, had a different way of getting one of his roommates out of the area, lowering @Arturo Reyes down off the open-air balcony with a well-placed Descendo. Artie, for his part, cast a human-detecting spell, giving him an excellent idea of where to go next in order to find other people - his former students, mayhap, or perhaps strangers, but people nevertheless.
All five of the adults were free to proceed as they wished, though, because as if terrified of the quintet of powerful spellcasters, the vines shrunk back into nothingness and vanished seemingly into thin air. Perhaps they could proceed to part two and meet up with the other residents of the High Houses...
