Jarden was born and raised on the Isle of Divination. Maturing in such a close, loving community taught him to be honest and fair, as well as to support everyone he came into contact with. Regardless of being the youngest, he was neither overlooked nor coddled. His family taught him to be fair and consistent, as well as accountable.

He’s driven by a deep need to help — the world, people, anything he can. If he can make even one person’s life a little brighter, then his own life feels like it is worth it. Like the community that raised him, he values loyalty and honesty above all else. Support, loyalty, and love are the three things he lives by, and it’s worked well for him so far. He’s always looking for ways to be useful while still leaving space for himself to recuperate. That balance isn’t always easy, especially when he’s constantly questioning how to help without leaning too heavily on magic alone.

Social by nature, Jarden thrives in company — though he still needs quiet moments to recharge and reflect. For all his talkativeness, he’s a surprisingly good listener. He gravitates toward kind-hearted people — shy or loud, it doesn’t matter so long as they’re not cruel. Conflict doesn’t scare him; he welcomes hard conversations, though betrayal is the one line that cuts too deep. He can get angry quickly but cools down just as fast, rarely one to hold a grudge unless trust is truly broken.

Emotionally, Jarden is expressive — warm and funny when he’s comfortable, stoic and serious when he needs to be. He likes to lead, especially in group settings, and carries himself with a natural confidence, even if sometimes it’s a little forced. His metamorphmagus ability, though rare and special, is a source of quiet insecurity. The lack of control makes him feel distanced from others, and when people hesitate to trust him because of it, it wounds him in ways he rarely speaks aloud.

Broom racing and herbology are his great loves — two outlets where passion and peace come together. He dreams of making a lasting difference in the world, whether as a healer of the land or as someone who inspires others to care more deeply. He wants to grow into a kind man, someone helpful and supportive, and be remembered for those things. He knows the desire to be remembered can become dangerous, but he’s careful. He roots that dream in compassion, not pride — because if he’s remembered at all, he wants it to be for how fiercely he cared.

He grew up on the Isle of Divination, running around the town of Nephila Pilipes with his best friend, Temen, and his sister Lola. He loved it there, but especially the emerald tree skinks. His family was alright too, he supposed. He did love his family, though, all eight of them would be together for life and they were happy with that. They all loved each other even through the different personalities. His family went way back on the island, though technically they were from the Philippines and were all born there.
He didn't have a whole lot of responsibility at his young age and was often found exploring the forests or looking at some odd plant here or there.
Everyone thought he was odd, but didn't mind him for the most part. He never really bothered anyone, preferring to be with his own family, though still liking to be social.
Jarden couldn't imagine a life not on the island. Not only because he had never been anywhere else, but because he loved it there with his whole heart and never wanted to leave.
School had always fascinated him, so turning eleven brought him great joy along with a higher level of education. He couldn't always focus, distracted by things outside of the classroom, but he still enjoyed it and got good marks.

First Magic:
Reducio
He got angry, as most six-year-olds do—furious, really—because some of his brother's friends were laughing at him. His hair had turned bright pink, and no matter how hard he concentrated, it wouldn’t go back. In a burst of frustration, the nearby pōhutukawa trees—with roots that reached like fingers—suddenly came to life. Vines and branches shot forward, hoisting the teasing boys into the air. It took an hour, a very worried sibling, and three adults to get them untangled from the limbs.

Change was inevitable. It was also inedible, but that is irrelevant. The point was, that change was always going to happen and it did so immeasurably for Jarden. It came to the point where nothing was ever going to be the same about him from day to day. Only night to night when he was asleep and his body was no longer randomly shifting.

He had always known that he was a Metamorphagus. Always had been, always is going to be. It was a fact of his life, and he didn’t get to decide whether he liked it or not because it was never going to change. Loving it wasn’t the problem, but controlling it was.

It came on at the randomest of times, surprising him and any nearby skinks. People, too, he supposed. He didn’t mind it, but he did mind the weird glances. Quite annoying, in his opinion. Most people didn’t though, and for that he was grateful. The one who really had been through it all was his twin sister, Lola. His whole family, really, but Lola in particular.

She had helped him really start to own it. Realizing that it was a gift, not something embarrassing. And it did help a little bit with hide and seek, so it wasn’t all bad. All things aside, he did really adore it, accepting it as a part of himself, like someone having bright red hair. Some stares were inevitable, but it was what made them so unique.

Did you really just compare me to a red head? I am so much better.

Anyway, he doesn’t understand why people stare. They wish they could turn their hair blue.

He felt most at home in his own skin when it looked like he wasn’t. He could be anyone. Anything he wanted. Well, not yet. He was learning to control it, slowly, but determinedly. It was bordering on control freak, but he preferred the term ‘A devout disciple of self discipline’. And even that was a stretch.

But all in all, his dramatic side flourished off of it. And on many occasions he has said, “Let’s just say I have a very... curated relationship with spontaneity.” about his ability, unable to even find something bad about how randomly his ability presented itself.

And now that he has somewhat more control over his ability he can spend his days obsessing over herbology and the emerald tree skinks he found in the forest. Now, he could do the things he loved without caring what others thought. He was the one he had to live with for the rest of his life, so he was going to like himself and not worry if others liked him.

If special race/ability, how did they join the school? ~Twasn't a problemmm~

History:
Reducio
The Family That Shouldn’t Have Been.
Athisak was born in Bangkok, Thailand to a pure-blood father, Wen Haoran; and a muggle-born mother, Rin Thongchai. The relationship his parents had was never really accepted, not by Haoran’s side of the family that is. When one comes from a respectable (that may also be close-minded and be obsessed with the purity of blood) line of pure-blood wizards and witches and marries into a family that does not share that “fame”...it was frankly expected disaster would strike. It was not even the fame…or even knowledge or lack thereof. Rin was (still is) a herbalist who preferred a rather simple life and not even that was the issue. It was the fact Rin’s blood was not pure enough, and by extension, Athisak’s was even less “befitting” of the standards of purity.

Maybe it was rebellion, maybe it was something else. Maybe young love at its finest, maybe neither knew any better, but Athisak’s father knew very well that this “forbidden love” would not end well. And a kid was never in the image…until there was. His dad only stayed long enough for promises to be made (whether empty or not, likely, that won’t be clarified). Two weeks after Athisak’s birth, and his father was nowhere to be found. He left…no....he abandoned them. No note, no warning, no explanation. Just gone. Most likely has been summoned by his family and this time he went, and never returned.

The Quiet Apartment above the Apothecary.
The small apartment Athisak grew up in could be described as a heartwarming cup of tea at the end of a draining day. The place smelled of a mix of plants, very aromatic and pleasant and yet never too much or overwhelming, The cupboards and shelves were constantly stacked with jars, pouches, and potted plants. The apartment, which was one floor above the Apothecary Athisak’s mother worked at, was…for the lack of a more befitting word - a link between the muggle world and the magical one. But beyond everything, it was home. His childhood was not a rich one by maybe some people’s standards but it was the best it could be.

A kid too bright to sit still.
With a mixture of muggle and magic in his upbringing, Athisak wasn’t quiet. Oh, he was far from that. He has always been quite energetic, and curious to a rather amusing if at times troublesome degree. All nosy fingers and darting eyes, always opening drawers he was not supposed to open, asking what is this and what is that as soon as he got a bit older. Frankly, his mother had a handful with him. To count a few of his shenanigans, Athisak nearly knocked over shelves of delicate jars, half the time he had a tilted grin, dirt-smudged cheek, and some poor plant that was almost crushed tucked behind one ear because it “looked lonely” (that was far from lonely). Oh…or when he tried to copy his mother in “enchanting” a frog using nothing but incense smoke and hoping for the best since nothing happened for obvious reasons. His childhood was chaos in the best way, running around, laughing, and having fun.

First Magic:
Reducio
Athisak couldn’t have been older than 9. It was the monsoon season, and every outdoorsy kid would know what that meant. Rain. Rain meant mud, and mud meant adventure.

He had just been told “no” — again — by his mother. Something along the lines of needing to keep away from a particular jar of dried, very temperamental herbs stacked on a high shelf precisely to make this child-proof. The chair next to the shelf was not so Athisak proof though.
Well, he was told to keep away, which like any kid told no, this was taken like the instances of don’t press the red button. Of course, he had to see what was inside. She turned her back for about thirty seconds. That was enough.
Somewhere between climbing the stool and yanking at the corner of the lid, the jar tipped.
What happened next, he barely remembers clearly, for the most part, because of how fast everything happened. The jar didn’t fall. It exploded. And it didn’t even hit the ground to do so.
A sharp, sudden gust roared from around him, flinging open cabinets if the doors were not locked, swirling herbs and powdered ingredients into a small cyclone of chaos. Paper was flying all around as if it were sentient.
Tiny glass bottles rolled off countertops and burst into sticky puddles on the floor. He remembers blinking through the whirlwind, squinting against the gust, and it eventually calming down as suddenly and quickly as it started. It wasn’t the wind outside. It was coming from him.
By the time this…rather unusual event (at least for the boy who couldn’t even “charm” a frog before - because he was doing it wrong and had no power to charm it at that age anyway) stopped, the apothecary looked like it had been caught in a tiny, very targeted storm.
His mother was in a slight bit of shock, eyes wide. She didn’t say a word at first, just stared at her son. Well, she was expecting something…like that to happen, she was just taking a bit to register it.
All the meanwhile, Athisak was standing in the middle of the room, a singular tea leaf stuck to his cheek and a cheeky smile on his face.
Sensing he may have gotten himself in a bit of a problem, he pointed proudly at the (only) floating jar still spinning lazily in the air beside him.
“I didn’t even break that one.”
Well…it was intact..as if waiting for him to say that before it crashed. Nevermind…

It was during monsoon season, one rainy, muddy day when most people would keep indoors if they were not busy or didn’t have to go anywhere. Meanwhile, when the rain calmed down a bit, Athisak was out and about playing around the Apothecary. In the span of maybe at most 10 minutes, he managed to find a multitude of animals in the garden and “shelter” them from the rain under potted plants. Whether the animals were grateful or not for that, was…uncertain.
It was during that “rescue” mission that he somehow enlisted for himself, that he thought he heard something. Raising his head, and looking a bit around, his mum was indoors, and there was no one else around aside from the occasional passing person every now and then.

Some moments of silence, and the voice or whatever that was was heard again, sounding more frustrated this time. First, Athisak checked the crates, thinking it was coming from there. The sound was not intelligible yet to distinguish whether it was really human or animal so the kid assumed that it was an animal stuck somewhere around the garden. Maybe a rat, or some other small critter. What he found instead was a snake, quite a big one that caught quite awkwardly in some sort of mesh, or net, most likely used in holding a bundle of plants together and now tossed as trash.
Every teaching his mother ever did was basically telling Athisak not to approach the snake. “Bright color means danger.” his mother would say. Now of course he reasoned the snake didn’t look too bright, aside from neon yellow stripes on what would otherwise be black scales, and some of that same yellow under the head. But the animal seemed distressed and was quite trying to get out of the situation it found itself in.

“Heyyy…You’re going to hurt yourself like that. Don’t bite the help ok?” he was scared quite a bit, yes, a relatively big snake that seemed agitated and also by the looks of it was a possible danger didn’t really do much to encourage Athisak here. But he took a stick trying to get the snake to at least move from the tight space in the trash bin and to get it out, in an attempt to maybe later on help untangle the poor thing.

The snake went still…tongue flicking out scenting the damp air. “Sssssmall two-legs knowssss?”
Athisak paused in his attempt looking a bit surprised. The snake….talked. It talked. It did not hiss, it quite actually said human words. Of course, to anyone else witnessing this (which there were not), it would not have seemed the same, if anything given the hissing they may have reconsidered just leaving the snake where it was even.

“What is there to know? I am trying to help you. So stay still.” It should have been terrifying. To hear a snake speak and to understand it, and have the animal understand you back too, but it wasn’t. There was an odd familiarity, or maybe Athisak just liked animals so much it was not that shocking now to see him try to help a…talking snake. The net was knotted though, likely from how the snake struggled before and it was so difficult to untangle as the kid’s little hands worked to unwind the material while the snake was staying oddly still looking at the boy and every now and then hissing a bit more, a few more words, mostly to show his displeasure towards the weather, or towards how long this was taking. At some point Athisak gave up on even trying to untangle the knots as he picked up the snake struggling a bit and getting a frustrated reaction from the slithering fellow, before the kid took a better approach, trying to bite at the strands until it eventually gave way, snapping. The rest proved easier and soon enough the snake was free again.

“Thissss one won’t forget.” the snake hissed again, slithering away through the tall grass. One may assume this would be the first and last time Athisak encountered a snake, but that would be far from the truth. Initially, he did not even tell his mother of the event. Reasoning that it would have led to a moral lesson about leaving dangerous wildlife be, and maybe even some worry as to why he could talk with snakes. It was weird, yes…he found himself often replaying the events in his mind. When the kid “came clean” about what happened, to say that his mother was shocked would be an understatement. Parselmouths were not only known to Hogwarts, sure…the most well-known one attended Hogwarts and was infamous, so mostly it was not a good thing to associate people with. It was then that he learned what he could do, and that he also learned what the snake was, a mangrove snake. But Rin did not scold Athisak, she did not tell him off, instead, she told him to keep it a secret. That no one should know about this talent. And he did just that, but as days passed he pushed the thought back just keeping it a secret but no longer thinking much about it. Until once more, the snake would be again in the Apothecary garden.

If special race/ability, how did they join the school?: Since it is still first year I don't know if it is needed but just in case it is...He would have hid it for the most part, since it was not particularly difficult to avoid talking to snakes or hiding that he understands them if it reached that point. If it will later get approved and everything I understood is right (pet can be roleplayed when getting it, as if from home instead of bought) the plan would be to have the snake that he encountered be his pet (and go through the pet system rp)

Xena grew up on the island of Manila, the capital of the Philippines, brought up (along with their brother) by their grandmother/lola. They never knew what happened to their parents, although Lola had told them they lived abroad - somewhere. Later on they began to doubt this and they weren't sure how much they believed her, but then again, when you're brought up believing something, you never think it's a lie.

As a muggleborn, they had absolutely no idea magic existed, and grew up leading a fairly 'normal' life, attending paaralang primarya - grade school. It was a little dull, to be quite honest, but it was fun to live on the island, as a child they adored climbing into treehouses and spending time there with their twin brother, Akaido -

Akaido was.. quite frankly, too serious of a guy, but despite their differences in personality they got along well - their brother usually coming off as the more sensible one. Which was.. up to debate. He wasn't a wizard, but they still remained close after they left to be educated at Tenūsa.

Tenūsa. It was quite a big shock for them, seeing as they were muggleborn, however their grandma didn't really say much when the dukun arrived.. and they quickly adjusted despite the shock, awed with the lore and the history of the magical school.

It was a distant memory.. almost too distant for them to remember... and that was saying something, because they usually had a pretty decent memory.

Six years ago.. they were six.. it was a bright summer day, and they were helping Lola prepare the adobo for the guests that night... Akaido wasn't helping, he never helped. They pouted, brushing the soft hair out of their face. It would've been fun if their brother was there, then they could.. you know.. goof off together. No matter, this was like, the unofficial national dish of the Philippines, an honor to help with.. or at least for her! Everyone knew what it tasted like, they couldn't possibly mess it up, that would be an embarrassment -

They eagerly began to stir the steaming pot of pork broth, groaning as it splashed against the bowl and stained the bright yellow dress they had been wearing, the pretty one that Lola said reminded her of manga, and of sunlight, of better days.. the one their mother used to wear when she was little.. before she left. Eyes stained with tears, they pushed the stirring spoon away. It's not like it was a big deal, but a stain like that was never coming out.

To their shock, the stain slowly began to disappear before their eyes, fading into nothing just as quickly as it had spilled. They blinked, confused. Perhaps they were hallucinating today?

History:

Tanatat Chantharat (nicknamed 'Mint') is the only son of Tawan and Meng Xin Chantharat - muggle parents who waited many years and endured heartbreaking losses before his birth. As the long-awaited light in their lives, Mint was raised at the center of their world, showered with praise, pampering, and privilege. Over time, this constant adoration fostered in him a deep sense of self-love, which one could almost view as narcissism.
He grew up in a grand mansion in Phuket after all, surrounded by comfort and more luxury than most people could ever imagine. His father, the successful owner of a global herbal company (with focus on peppermint), ensured Mint was spoiled from day one. Mint was also doted on - not just by his parents, but by an army of nannies, tutors, and staff.
At the age of three, Mint had his first instance of unintentional magic, an event that caused quite a stir, but shortly afterward, a young dukun visited the family, explaining the nature of Mint’s magical abillities and what they meant.
At first, Tawan and Meng Xin were shocked, however the more they learned, the prouder they became.

Despite being offered a place in a clan for early education, his parents declined. They weren’t yet ready to part with the child they had waited so long for, and with no pressing need, they saw no reason to rush - instead, Mint was taught the basics like math, reading and writing by private muggle tutors, while they arranged for the dukun who had come to them earlier to visit once or twice a week to introduce him to the magical world gradually (with a generous paycheck, of course).
When Mint neared his eleventh birthday, his parents debated whether to keep him under private education, though ultimately, they chose what they believed was best for him: Tenūsa, a beautiful island school filled with children like him who would become his friends. The idea of him being surrounded by magic in a place built for it, was something they couldn’t deny him, even if it meant letting go.
One thing was not for discussion for them, however: Mint would return home for every holiday and this was without exception. And in between, he would receive presents, letters, and reminders of how loved he was.
Mint himself was thrilled at the idea of attending a magical school, imagining it as a glamorous island retreat, filled with the luxury he was used to. What he didn’t yet realize was that Tenūsa was not a luxury resort at all - and that magic came with discipline.

First Magic:

At three years old, Mint performed his first act of magic during a little garden gathering with a few high-society families. While the parents enjoyed coffee and cake, their children played nearby with a variety of toys. When Mint snatched a toy from another child and refused to give it back, his father gently tried to intervene, offering him one of the many other toys they have bought just for him.
Mint, however, wasn't having it and threw a tantrum.
After the other parents gathered their children and retreated from the awkward scene into the living room, leaving the situation to the parents, Mint slammed his tiny hand against the grass in protest. In that moment, every toy on the lawn suddenly levitated for a second, before crashing back down.
Mint seemed unaware of what had happened, still crying and screaming. His parents were shocked before finding out later on that their son was a wizard.

Special Race/Ability: Wandmaker
(Willow Wood, Dittany Stalk Core, 14 inches, Unyielding)
Reducio
Given his background, it was only natural that Mint’s parents did not hold back when it came to finding their son the best wand. And by best, they meant the flashiest, the most luxurious, the most expensive wand that money could buy.
They called upon esteemed wandmakers from around the globe, for a wand from a distant continent held an undeniable prestige. Some made the journey to the magnificent Chantharat mansion, while at other times, the family ventured out to meet them, always in pursuit of wands of unmatched elegance.
At first, there was no concern when the wands from some places like the United States and France failed to choose Mint. White River Monster Spine and Elderwood, despite their rarity, simply felt foreign in his grip. His parents, though slightly perplexed, remained patient, however as more and more wands continued to reject him, unease started to settle in.

"Rosewood...", his mother exhaled amazed, staring at the detailed carvings on the latest wand which was delivered directly from India, "Oh, how lovely! Just like my son."
That kind of flattery would normally puff up Mint's ego well, but not today. It might have been the exhaustion of what felt like endless rejections of literally objects, or maybe it was the sting of a previous wand that had burned his poor palm (which, in all honesty, had merely warmed uncomfortably). He glanced back to his father who was examining the wandmaker critically.
"Yes.", the person in charge explained, carefully showcasing the wand, "It is made from the finest, most well-preserved rosewood available, with a rare phoenix feather core. Exceptionally flexible and balanced in length. These engravings-"
"So captivating!", Mint’s mother interjected in joy.
"- are a tribute to the beauty of your family.", the wandmaker finished.
"Mint, dear, go try it!", his mother urged, "This is the one, I just know it!"
She showed a level of enthusiasm that was way above Mints', and honestly, he would have preferred it if she had taken the wand instead for herself, even though, he had to admit, it was equally as enticingly beautiful as the others. Stealing a glance at his father, who had now turned his attention back to him, Mint reached out for the wand. But right as his fingers were hovering in position to grab it, the wand suddennly seemed to sprang to life, rocketing out of the box and smacking his hand away before promptly hitting the floor! Mint gasped in disbelief, clutching his hand, his mother covered her mouth in shock.
"Ah!", Mint yelped dramatically, "Tha- That thing just tried to break my arm!"
"Oh, no no, I promise-", the wandmaker stuttered, but he quickly was cut off.
"Get this thing away from my son!", Mint’s father thundered, rising from his chair, "How dare you bring such a hazard into my home?!"
And like that, another wand was again banished from the Chantharat house. Mint’s mother, similar dramatic as her son, coddled his hand while her husband grumbled about pressing charges if this went on.

Neither from Europe, Asia, the United States nor any other place could provide a wand that had the quality or value adequate to please Mint (or to accept him). His father was torn between believing that this was proof that his son was truly so very special or that he might be just a little bit spoiled. As patience began to thin, another wandmaker stopped by their door. Unlike the other wandmakers, this man, whose origins could be traced to Phuket, did not approach them with a wand case under his arm.
After the usual exchange of pleasantries over a cup of tea, Mint's father finally decided to ask, "I noticed you arrived empty-handed. Have I not paid you in advance to craft a wand of the rarest, most luxurious materials?"
The man nodded, "Indeed, I received your generous payment."
"So where is the wand?"
"I have crafted many wands.", the man replied, "And my humble shop overflows with them. I do not believe I need to make one specifically for your son."
Mint’s father stiffened the cigar between his fingers, "What exactly are you suggesting? That my son isn’t worthy of a custom wand? What, exactly, did I pay you for then? Take your pre-made sticks and peddle them in a market for a few Baht."
"Tell me.", the wandmaker said calmly, "Is a child you adopt not your own, even if you did not create them?"
Mint’s father hesitated.
"It does not matter whether the wand was made beforehand or not.", the wandmaker continued, "If it is meant to be, it is meant to be. The magic within remains unchanged."
The father considered throwing the man out but, with his options to find a matching wand running thin, he reluctantly gestured toward the gardens.
"I’ll be here.", he muttered, exhaling smoke, "Go speak with him."

The wandmaker stepped onto the marble path, following its winding course through the estate’s exquisite garden. He passed tall lychee trees, an elegant birdbath, and even a swing, until at last, he spotted the young wizard kneeling beside a wooden box.
Inside, nestled among green leaves, was a small, unmoving bird.
"Hello, you must be Mint.", the man greeted, kneeling beside him, "What are you doing?"
Mint barely spared him a glance. "Where I come from, people introduce themselves first before sticking their nose into things that's not their business."
The man blinked, momentarily caught off guard. Then, with an amused smile, he inclined his head.
"You are right. My apologies. I go by Bear."
Mint finally turned his head towards him, eyeing him critically before scoffing, "Yeah, that name fits."
Bear chuckled, already seeing the sharp wit he was dealing with, "So... may I ask what you’re doing?"
Mint ran a careful finger over the bird’s head, its eyes fluttering shut as if not only accepting his touch, but also being soothed by it.
"You may.", he allowed before sighing, "It’s hurt. I found it lying in the grass, barely moving. Maybe its wing is broken or something. I tried using magic to heal it, but... it won’t work."
"I see.", Bear examined the bird, though to him, it appeared more old than injured, if he judged it well.
"My dad said to call a vet.", Mint continued, "But if I’m as gifted as they say, why can’t I heal it myself? Why can't I-"
Mint bit his lip, his frustration clearly visible upon his expression, "Why could I accidentaly m heal a cut when I brushed a throned rose but not make my moms coughing go away? Or help my grandfather who's in the hospital? Or help this bird that is clearly hurt?"
Bear could see him holding back tears.
"You see...", the wandmaker said gently, "Magic can do many great things, but not the impossible."
Mint scowled. "What’s that even supposed to mean? Don’t bother me with weird fortune cookie advice."
Bear chuckled but remained patient, "I mean that you can heal wounds and cure sickness, but even magic has limits. If your little friend here is near the end of its time, no spell can change that. But as for the rest.. you will learn with time."
Mint turned away, obviously upset, "I don’t want to spend years learning dumb spells. I want to heal people now! But no matter what I try, I feel like I can’t. I hate it. I still have-"
He cut off and Bear had the feeling that the boy had wanted to finish his sentence with 'so much to learn', but may have been to proud as to admit that, which is why he wasn't surprised to hear the following after a short pause,
"...some wands to try out so that I can finally make it work."
"You’ve accidentally healed yourself before?", Bear asked.
"Yeah. But… It just happened once. I’m not good at it…"
"And have you done other magic?"
"Of course. I made things fly around all the time when my toys were being brutally taken from me." (The truth: it had happened exactly once when he was a toddler and a toy, that belonged to another child, had been gently taken from his grasp.)
"I burned down an entire house when my mom made me mad." (He had accidentally set fire to a chocolate cake because it didn’t taste like rainbow.)
"And I even flew on a broom already." (Lie. That had happened in a particularly vivid dream.)
Bear listened without interruption, a faint smile tugging at his lips.
Then he said, "And yet, none of those things seem to frustrate you at all."
He tilted his head slightly, "But healing... that’s different, isn’t it?"
Mint stiffened. He didn’t want to agree with this random man - why in the world was he even in their garden, now that Mint thought about it?! - but he couldn’t deny the truth of it. Healing was what he wanted most and yet felt so miserable about it.
Bear’s smile widened just a fraction, "Young wizard, I believe I have the perfect wand for you."

The man had barely left the mansion a few minutes when he returned to the house carrying a blatantly long wooden box. It was obvious right from the start, even before he opened it, that this wand would be the longest that Mint and his parents had ever seen.
"I can’t believe we’re trying a premade wand...", Mint’s father sighed, shaking his head.
His mother, however, smiled, "Let’s give it a chance, hm? We have nothing to lose."
Mint was skeptical, but his eyes were glued to the box as the man slowly opened the lid. Inside was indeed a long, thin, delicate wand, the handle appeared made of glimmering silver and the design was filigree twisting and spiraling like frozen moonlight. The silver seamlessly transitioned into warm, polished wood, tapering into a fine, commanding point, almost as if eager to channel its wielder’s will with the slightest flick.
Mint stared, mesmerized by both its beauty and the aura it radiated.
Somewhere in the background, he vaguely heard his father's voice muttering about how plain and boring it looked compared to the expensive wands they have seen earlier. Meanwhile, his mother was looking back and forth between her husband and their son, uncertain how to react.
"Is it not to your liking, Mint?", she asked, placing a gentle hand on his shoulder, "Don’t be sad, sweetheart. We’ll find you another one, okay?"
"No… no.", Mint shook his head, barely able to form words as he reached out, hovering his hand just above the wand.
There was something different about this one. A feeling stirred deep in his chest - warm, exhilarating, almost like it was calling out to him. He wanted to take it.
The room became quiet when he made contact with the wood. A gentle glow pulsed from the wand, a pleasant light flickering for barely a heatbeat. The second he wrapped his fingers around it, something clicked into place like finding the missing piece of a puzzle. There was a feeling of connection, a bond, deeper than he had felt with the other wands. It just felt right.
"Willow wood.", the wandmaker explained, watching Mint study the wand with admiration, "Dittany stalk core, exactly 14 inches, and unyielding in it’s nature."
"Dittany stalk?", Mint’s father repeated, frowning, "I’ve never heard of that. Is it rare?"
"Oh, not at all. Uncommon as a wand core, perhaps, but..", Bear replied with an amused smile. "It’s actually a potion ingredient - considered quite cheap, in fact."
"Cheap?!", Mint’s father looked shocked, "My son is not going to carry a wand made of cheap materials!"
Bear smiled lightly, "A harsh prejudice against such a wonderful plant, isn’t it? Especially considering how effective it is in healing..."
Mint's mother turned toward her spouse, "Darling, when has our son not been fascinated by medicine? The wand makes him happy, let's focus on that and, not the price, hm?"
The head of the Chantharat looked at his son - at the way he held the wand with such reverence, as if he’d found something truly special, truly his.
With a deep sigh, he ran a hand through his hair, "Fine."

"Said to carry the power of healing; often chooses owners who are unsure of themselves in some way."
Despite his outward display of confidence, Mint harbors deep insecurities. From the beginning, he was praised as a prodigy, a natural, someone so very special. While this inflated his pride and made him somewhat spoiled, it also left him plagued with self-doubt. Though he can sometimes cast magic spontaneously triggered by emotions, Mint has no actual control over his power or even whether he can cast magic at all, no matter how hard he tries.
In time of course, under the guidance of his Dukun, this will change. But as of now, he feels like an imposter within his own family, desperately trying to conceal his struggles.

The quoted scenes show how deeply failure affects Mint. Being rejected by several wands and not being able to heal even a small bird, when in his mind, he should already be capable of much more, chip away at his self-esteem, leaving him wrestling with self-doubt.

"These wands are often drawn to the most humble and humaine among wizards and serve as a faithful tool.
Mint comes across as distant and entitled, and he doesn’t deny that he enjoys the luxury his parents prize so dearly. One might assume that he shares their values and doesn’t even know the word 'humble', right? After all, he was raised in wealth, and several mannerisms are likely automatic for him, but, underneath it all, material value doesn’t mean much to him at all. What truly matters is the ability to help others, whether human or animal, a trait that comes to him instinctively.

As explained in the wood choice, Mint is well aware of his weaknesses.
In the quoted scenes, he openly acknowledges that his magical abilities, particularly healing, are lacking, something he wouldn’t usually admit in other areas. When he is handed a wand that was less than noteworthy compared to what he witnessed, and that had a core that most would consider to be made from 'cheap' material, he sees it completely differently. In his mind it is the most beautiful wand - not just because of how, in his mind, it looks beautiful, but because of its ability to heal, regardless of what others perceive it to be.

Mint is committed to healing, and nothing, not even the urge to talk back out of spite, can shake this. It can truly be seen as unyielding.
Also, as shown in the first quote, Mint places a strong importance on manners. Mint would not have even had the conversation if Bear broke them. Certain things must follow a specific order, leaving little room for something else.[/quote]
