Camp 2023 Summer Duels, Game 5: Slytherin vs Guests

Starting the first round, Monica could feel the synergy amongst her team, though Ming and Guinevere seemed to hit their target, Monica proved to have more difficulty getting a spell to cast. But it was okay, the other team just stood and took the onslaught of spells sent to them, and with Mings ability to spread his spells, the snakes were showing why they were in the top spots for duelling. Hopefully Monica could get herself sorted to add to the team rather than just being a source of miss-fire, and failure.

There was just something inherently satisfying about being able to savor the fruits of one's hard work. For a second, Hui-Ming arced one of his feet back, standing still and sidefaced, admiring the results of his handiwork.

But then he blinked, and the moment passed. This was no time to get distracted by something as petty and irrelevant as a flame or three. A small nod to Miss Russetwood on her successful cast -- well intuited and well executed. The other Viper though--

"Well intuited, Miss Evans," he said gently, as if this were nothing more than their first duelling instruction; and their opponents nothing more than training dummies. "Let's try it casting together, this time."

The duel was underway. Spells were flying, people were getting set on fire, and Axel's spell, the only spell cast on his team, managed to not appear at all. This was not a good way to start, but there were plenty of other spells he could use against the wand wielding snakes. But would it be enough to secure a victory for his team?

The Slytherins seemed in good spirits, and why wouldn't they? They had come out of the gates strong. One of their opponents was blindfolded, and two were on fire...Castor would try to get the blindfold off of her eyes before it was too late - but the Slytherins had already seen their target. As soon as the blindfold came off, all Castor would see was a pair of knockback jinx zooming her way from the Slytherins, who had cast in perfect sync. There was no time to get out of the way.

The two spells hit Castor with great force, sending the girl backwards and knocking her off her feet. she would hit the platform with a THUD, the force of the fall extinguishing the flames. She did not get back up.

Jake winced, looking at the girl and willing her to get back up to her feet, but she didn't move. In his peripheral vision, he saw Axel's fire spell zooming back to hit Hui-Ming in the arm - a measure of revenge for his fallen team-mate. Kamila still must have been stunned by her opponent's onslaught, and the flames that had lit upon her clothes. Guinevere's spell hadn't worked, her wand not cooperating, but Jake barely noticed, distracted by what had just happened.

"Everybody let Castor off the platform!" Jake called out tensely, as he looked at the fallen Castor. The duel would pause until she was removed from the area of fire. He looked up nervously. This wasn't going well at all for the other team. Jake as a student of course supported Hogwarts, and wanted them to win their duels. But as a duel captain he was impartial, and to be honest he never liked seeing a one-sided fight. Could the guest team rally? It wasn't too late...but the odds were turning ever against them. He looked back to make sure Castor was ok. That landing hadn't looked fun....

Her spell didn't work this time around (she should get a new wand, honestly), but enough was happening around the piste without her adding to it. Her teammates had both cast Knockback Jinxes at the foreign student she had blindfolded a round ago. Both spells met their target in quick sucession just after the girl had taken off her blindfold, who fell to the piste with a thud.
Guinevere was in shock about how fast things had escalated; it was only round two and someone was already out of the game. She couldn't let herself be next, and she could start by not failing to cast her spells.

The duel was barely getting off the ground, and Castor was already knocked out. Great. And Kamila was just standing there. Great. This was going to be a 1 against 3 fight, and though the odds of victory were very very slim, Axel wasn't going to go down without a fight. His spirit refused to give up so easily. And if he were to lose, he'd make sure his father wouldn't hear about it. The result of word reaching him would not be good. At all.

Monica wasted no time, and like perfect singergy her spell and her teammates hit the one opponent with great force. Watching her fly back, Monica was half ready to finish them off come the next round, but rise they did not. A small pause came to let them out of the match. It seemed that while Monica was so focused on her own target, she failed to see other actions that took place. Ming now behind aways, Oh they might have been hit. Once the student that was knocked out was removed, the match would continue. Monica felt too good about this game, hopefully the luck would continue for the snakes.

Roleplaying as Castor Alarie Third Year Beauxbatons

Castor clawed at her blindfold, tearing it off of her face and tossing it to the side. She prepared to raise her wand and continue the duel, but just as her eyes regained focus, two spells came soaring at her.

She was thrown onto the platform like a rag doll, her whole body erupting with pain as she curled in on herself. Strangely enough, her focus wasn’t on the hit, but rather on the frustration of getting knocked off so early in the duel. The anger almost numbed her, but not quite enough.

She didn’t make any attempts at getting up, deciding hastily that she would just wait until someone official looking helped her down so she wouldn’t embarrass herself anymore.
