Farewell Class of 2024
Morning June 10th, 2024
Jacob knew that the end of the school year was near. Jacob had been at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for five years. Jacob knew that some students, including Delilah Stewert and many others, would graduate from Hogwarts since they were in their seventh and final year at the school. He mostly kept to himself this last year. But now Jacob is saying fair well to those who are going out and leaving Hogwarts. This was due to the number of students leaving; he wanted to leave a note for all those leaving Hogwarts. Jacob had to say something profound to do right by the students leaving Hogwarts. "Here goes nothing." and he wrote down everything that he would say to the Seventh Years and to guess at their future careers. So finally, when he was done, Jacob went to the board and put on the note Jacob wanted to give to the Seventh Years. Jacob had no doubts; he knew the Seventh Years could lead good lives outside Hogwarts. Getting used to not having the Seventh Years around would take some time. But he will manage, one of his ancestors always said; no sense getting upset over something he could do nothing about. Honestly, now that he had been in Hogwarts these five years, he couldn't imagine what it would be like for him to graduate from Hogwarts. He knew that he would have to live on his own and have his own life outside the confines of the school. It didn't scare him, nor did it get on his nerves.
Dear Graduates
I am grateful for all the times you have been in Hogwarts. You have changed this school for the better. I saw each of you change and grow as the years went by. I am not exaggerating when I say this has been the best year we have ever seen. I hope to see where all of you end up in your future careers. I hope to see all of you continue to grow and learn over the years of being in the real world. Many people want to be Aurors if you should ever become an Auror. I wish you the best of luck and hope you defend the wizarding world to the best of your ability. To those who want to play professional Quidditch, best of luck in the next Quidditch Season. If you do not play Quidditch, you can watch it at a Quidditch Match if you so wish, which you all have done on multiple occasions. For those who want to be a part of the Daily Prophet, you already have what it takes to make a tremendous journalistic career. I am specifically talking to you, Delihah Stewert. Your work on the Hogwarts Headliner is some of the best Journalism I have ever seen. I hope to see where you are in your future careers.
Sincerely,
Jacob Harman

Farewell Class of 2024
Jess yawned loudly as she trundled down the corridor towards the Great Hall. Her stomach rumbled angrily. I’m starving, she thought, eager to stuff herself on the school’s delicious breakfast.
10th June 2024
As she began fantasising about piles of toast and heaps of bacon, a new decorative addition caught her eye - by the entrance to the Great Hall, where one would usually find an assortment of portraits and hangings, now stood a table with several varieties of quills, ink pots, and other stationery items. Above the table, a cork notice board was on the wall, with a smattering of notes pinned on it. Temporarily ignoring the growing noises in her belly, Jess moved closer to investigate - at the top of the notice board, a neatly-laid-out title read ‘Farewell Class of 2024’. Of course, messages for the Seventh Year Leavers! Jess was reminded with fondness of her primary school graduation just under a year ago, and wondered how her old classmates were finding muggle secondary school…
Another complaint from her stomach, this one the loudest of them all, brought Jess back to the present moment, and she resolutely picked up a quill, some gold ink, and a scrap of parchment, which she rested against the notice board as she considered what to write. How many Seventh Years do I actually know? Jess noted in her mind Serena, Xailah and Bloom, who were broom racers for their respective teams. There's also the Quidditch players... so Howard, Cecily and Erin... Jess puzzled for a while over who else she could dedicate her note to, but was at a general loss. That should be enough..., she justified to herself, and began to compose the message.
Having finished her heartfelt message, Jess began to pin her piece of parchment on the notice board, when it occurred to her that this was the perfect opportunity for a special something. Putting down the tack, Jess grabbed her note and rushed into the Great Hall to have her breakfast, filled with excitement.Dear Serena, Xailah, Bloom, Howard, Cecily and Erin,
You may not know me by name, but your impact on my school life has been undoubted. From watching a Broom Race for the first time, to witnessing the extraordinary talent of all the Quidditch teams, sports have played an immense role in my incredible experience this year, and as Seventh Years, you all demonstrate professionalism and skill that far surpasses that of your teammates, making your athletic performances even more inspiring. When I leave Hogwarts, I dream of playing for a sports team, and the credit for this aspiration belongs to all of you. Thank you for being wonderful role models to younger students, and I wish you the best with your future endeavours.
Good luck!
Jess McLeod, Hufflepuff

After having spent an antisocial forty minutes scribbling in her notebook, Jess' work was finally complete. She examined the finished product, pleased with the result. Jess picked up her items and left the Great Hall - it was finally time to put up her message.
Once back at the notice board, Jess picked up a tack and pinned on her note. Then, she opened her notebook and tore out the page that she had been tiring on. Another tack in hand, Jess placed her recently-finished drawing underneath:
Jess smiled, satisfied. She hoped that someone would see her picture, and would appreciate it for its earnest meaning.

Interacting with @ mentioning @Jess Mcleod Date - 10/06/24 - 12/06/24 WC 1287/200 Color Legend - Mylo | Thoughts It was immediately apparent what felt so off as Mylo walked through the small hall to go and get some lunch before the rest of his classes started, in a place near the doors that was usually covered in paintings like the other walls, hung a huge cork board, something they hadn't seen there before. Especially not this morning when they'd come down for breakfast, although they did tend to do that quite early.
Next to the cork board there was also a table with a writing utensils, and some stuff to stick onto the board. Walking over to see what it was they immediately spotted the banner above it, wondering how he'd missed it in the first place mind you, he read the sign. Apparently this was something to do for the students who were graduating this year. He didn't know any of them but knew from stories from their parents how stressful exams could be, looking at a few of the letters that had already been left it gave them a sense of what they could write.
It was then that an idea popped into their mind after seeing a drawing another student had left, someone called Jess Mcleod he noticed as they read the accompanying letter. They were going to have to rush through lunch though to get to the library in time before classes started again, as they had decided they were going to make a drawing of the graduating students, something that would maybe be able to be copied and giving to them as a keepsake of their class and final year at Hogwarts. They'd have to find a photobook with them in it though, as Mylo knew none of them, which would most likely be found in the library.
Eating their lunch way faster than was probably healthy Mylo rushed to be able to get to the library on time, wanting to not waste too much. Although they knew they had time before the board would be taken down again it was the end of the year which meant a lot to do, and drawing was something they could get done quickly leaving more time for study.
The library was quite busy for the time of day, which surprised Mylo but that wouldn't stop them. Having asked the librarian where to find the 'yearbooks' Mylo found themselves with a book containing a lot of pictures. Luckily the 7th year students were easy to find as everything was divided by year. Taking the book, after having it signed out of course, they headed back to his dorm. Unfortunately as soon as they got there all they had time for was to look at the pictures of the students, still and in action, and their group pictures. This did mean that during the lessons, when he was done with the work, and during the period between lessons he could brainstorm ideas for what he wanted to do.
This meant that once they'd finished flying he could head straight to the dorm and start on his drawing. Sketching out a few poses and trying a few things.
Having drawn a few options they had a brilliant idea. It might take more time as there were 19 of them, but he thought that the students would really appreciate it. Doing some more 'research', aka looking at more pictures of them in the book of them doing things they liked and pictures of them together, on the students they started. Firstly they started with tearing out 19 pages of their sketchbook, giving each students their own page. And they started drawing a portrait of each one of the students, some of them flying a broom or in a duelling stance, anything that they could have picked up from the pictures to reflect the students personality.
It took them a while, as they spent 2 entire days, when they had time, drawing the students, trying to get them as perfect as possible. Using colours and everything. But looking at the results on the Wednesday afternoon it felt worth it. Looking back at them were 19 drawings that looked amazing, each page taken up with a different face, different pose and vibe. Some reading, some standing still, all unique.
This left the last idea they had, which was a group drawing, one that required ever so slightly less detail as they'd be slightly smaller, but still a difficult endeavour. Starting right away they get to sketching out the rough picture. All of them standing next to each other, taking inspiration from some of the pictures in the book and adapting them to look nicer together. It turned into something that Mylo was very proud of, giving the last finishing touches in the form of a background. The grounds with trees behind them and a lovely clear sky.
By the time that was done they were nearly late for tea, but having brought everything with them they managed to make it in time, having carefully placed the drawings inside their sketchbook. Dinner was great as usual and let them just sit there for a while. They hadn't eaten enough during the day, to excited with how his drawing was coming along. So this was a well earned break.
Having finished he walked over to the cork board, a few more letters had been added and it was starting to look really nice. Taking a piece of parchment and a quill from the table they wrote out their letter that would accompany the drawings.
Having taken way to long to write the letter, wanting to make sure every last bit was perfect they signed, normally they wouldn't sign something like this but for some reason they felt like it was necessary, it didn't feel complete without it. And if they changed their mind they could always come and cross it out, although they didn't feel like that would be the case.Hi,
I know that exams can be quite stressful, but you'll be doing them together which I feel could take a lot of that stress away. And the fact that you got to these exams is a feat in and of itself. Something that is already worthy of being proud of, if no one else has told you that yet I will.
I'm proud of you.
Although they might be difficult I have heard stories about adventures that you guys went through that make it feel like this is not the most difficult thing you guys have done. Which would make me feel quite relieved. I hope it does the same for you.
Studying is good, but also make sure to take care of yourself and drink enough water and have enough to eat.
I'm sure you guys will do fine,
Enjoy them and enjoy the world after them.
Mylo
PS. feel free to take the picture with the drawing of you, the group one might need copies made of it.
taking one of the thumb tacks they attacked the letter to the board, making sure to leave room for others, and then taking another two, splitting the drawing into two piles and attaching them underneath the letter. Hoping that the gesture would be appreciated by the upper years.
Realising that they hadn't attached the group drawing yet they took yet another thumb tack, and placed the drawing next to the letter, ecstatic with the result. Stepping back he was happy that there weren't many students who had seem them struggle with the hanging up of the letter and artworks, and pleased with themselves they started to make their way out of the hall. Curious as to what the students would think, but happy with the results.

After a morning of classes, it was finally time for lunch. The classes that morning had been pretty dull; the professors kept on talking about the upcoming exams. She already knew all the spells and potions that she was taught by heart, and so did she memorise the magic theory taught in history of magic. What the professors were fussing about, Giselle did not know. All she knew was that she was hungry and could do with some food.
Trotting down to the great hall and thinking longingly at the delectable courses that were currently waiting for them on the Hufflepuff table, Giselle stretched her arms and thought longingly of being outside in the afternoon. The indoors classrooms were driving her insane being cooped indoors, and now Giselle hoped more than anything that she could bunk class. But when she looked at a few papers against the bulletin board, Giselle immediately knew that they were for the seventh years that would be leaving hogwarts, and boy was she sad about it. Hogwarts will never be the same about them. Suddenly, a thought occurred to her, a thought that made her look things at a different point of view.
It was that the end of the school year was approaching, meaning that it would be the end of Giselle’s first year at hogwarts. Another year passed, just as fast as a Pegasus hovering over the bright blue sky. As it was, every year the seventh years would be graduating and they would move on, maybe to work as a wizard, get further education, and who knows what, as she had never experienced it before. But as they were going to go away from hogwarts soon, Giselle wanted to wish them good luck before they leave.
Pondering of what to do to show them that they were really special to the school, as every hogwarts student was, for Giselle believed that hogwarts will never be the same without them. As she knew, there were three types of sports that are played in hogwarts - duelling, broom racing and quidditch playing. Were most of the seventh years, or in other words, graduates, participants in those sports, she did not know, however she felt sad at the thought if they would be. Again, their team would never be the same without them. Finally, to express her true feelings for them leaving hogwarts, Giselle decided upon writing a letter.
Carefully she took her blue quill, a piece of parchment, and began to write. Wanting it to show how special they really were, perhaps much more than they thought, Giselle thought for a moment, then placed her quill at the top end of the parchment, starting to write.
[quote]
Dear Graduating Seventh Years,
I guess that you didn’t know me before, as I am only a first year, but I just want to tell you how special you were to the school. You see, Hogwarts will never be the same without you guys, and we will truly miss you when you graduate from hogwarts.
I know how hard it is to get through the exams and everything, how stressful it is, and I sure am wishing you all good luck for your future. I believe in you all, and just remember, whatever happens to you, no matter what, always believe in yourself. I will never forget the time you had in hogwarts, as always, you are extremely important to the school. Year after year, as the next new generation joins you, will we always be together.
Wish you all good luck, and may the positive side live with you forever.
Yours truly,
Giselle Lam
After finishing the letter, Giselle reread the letter twice because she wanted to show the graduates how exactly special they were to the school, and she also wanted them to get a bright future after hogwarts. Of course, she did not know any of the seventh years very well, but they still meant a lot to her, and especially the school.

Farewell Class of 2024
As the days went by, Margaret couldn't quite grasp the fact the year had come to an end. Countless hours had been spent in the old library, walking along the corridors or running to some class across the castle. This all still seemed like a dream, but the first of 6 more to come. All the people here had something in common, no matter how different their lives had been and will remain once the time has come. All of them had roamed the same rooms, sat in the same places, read the same books. Hundreds of generations all in one place. The weight of the past seemed to be particularly heavy on this sunny morning, in the middle of June. As she walked by the small hall, she noticed a paper covered wall. Hundreds of messages, some short as three words while others went on for many paragraphs, all a farewell for the 7th Years. Margaret didn't truly know any of them, the age gap was simply to big. She had seen many of them, sometimes a glimmer of envy in her eyes. She couldn't wait for the day she would be able to be one of them, looking down at the first years hurrying down the halls. Hesitantly, she took out her quill and pen before resting on the wooden wall.
Dear seventh years,
I must admit I don't know many of you very well, or at all. Although we shall remain strangers for the rest of our lives, our paths will forever have crossed here. Where you see a home, I still see a strange magical castle, but I hope for the day I will be one of you. It goes without saying that I wish you all the best of luck in the rest of your lives, may they be as incredible as the hours working here were long.
Here you stand, where hundreds have stood before you, and where hundreds will stand afterwards. You take place in history, walking into the real world. Your names shall forever be part of all our lives. I doubt I will ever get to meet any of you, but I know seven years at Hogwarts have prepared you well for whatever is on the other side for you.
Farewell to you all,
M.A
Satisfyingly reading her words once again, she hung up the piece of paper, lost in the see of messages. She wondered if any student would ever lay their eyes on it, but truthfully, it didn't matter. One day, theses messages will be hers to read.

farewell class of 2024 • threadOphelia knew none of the seventh years this year. She barely knew anyone who wasn't in first year. She barely even knew first years. She wasn't really considered the talkative, friend-making type, after all. Still, as the school year drew closer to the end and everyone began speaking of their plans for the summer, she, along with everyone else, felt the same cloud of sadness floating over her head. Hogwarts, without her even knowing, had become like a second home, just as her mother had told her it would. Leaving it knowing that she would come back the next year kept her sane. She couldn't even begin to imagine the pain of the seventh years, who'd been here for so long and wouldn't come back.
Her sympathy towards the graduates made coming down to the newest errand an easy task. Ophelia didn't have to be bribed with rewards to write a goodbye note. As she picked up a paper and quill, she thought about what to write. It wasn't like she had personal memories or experiences to share or write about. Her message would be general.
Sitting down, her right hand holding onto the quill and poised over the parchment, she itched to get started but didn't know how. Sighing, she decided to just begin writing and see where it would take her.

Dear Seventh Years,
This magical school known as Hogwarts has been a home to many and each student that has passed through has left a mark. May it be that you were a prefect, helping the staff control the wayward students, or may it be that you were the captain of a sports team, leading your house to victory. Whatever you have done in your time here, it will be cherished and remembered, in one form or another, by the future students of Hogwarts. Thank you for all your contributions and I congratulate you on your success so far. I may not even be an acquaintance to all of you, but I truly cannot wait to see everything that you achieve in your bright futures. I cannot wait to recognise the name of a professional sports player or Ministry official and think, that person was in seventh year when I was a first year. There is so much to do and see outside of Hogwarts and I hope you experience it all.
Best wishes,
☽ •----------------------------------------• ☾
Satisfied with all that she had wrote, Ophelia finished her note with a signature, knowing that her name would mean nothing to those who would read it, if anyone ever did. Still, it was enough to know that she had tried to cheer someone up.

Eugenia was extremely happy. The end of the year was coming closer day by day and she wanted for school to end SO bad. Of course, she would return excitedly the next year as a second year. Though this year, a fresh batch of seventh years were about to graduate. Eugenia did not really know any of them personally, although having heard their names once or twice. Despite that, she actually felt quite sad for them. After 7 years at Hogwarts, which was probably like their second home, they had to accept the fact that they wouldn’t return to this magnificent place ever again, except if they chose to become a teacher…
She wished she could tell them something. A small farewell to all of those lovely graduates, the people she always looked up too. The people she always aspired to become, at least in some way. Graduating from Hogwarts was surely a big deal. But, at what personal cost did it come? How would they feel?
One day, Eugenia walked by the Small Hall. She was a bit bored at the time, so she decided to enter. Sometimes, people would organise events in the small hall and she wanted to see if there was anything special. Then, she noticed a large table, a corkboard above it and lots of papers and ink pens. On the corkboard, there was a large banner: FAREWELL CLASS OF 2024. Finally! Eugenia had found that opportunity to say goodbye to the Seventh Years whom she would soon see for the last time, at least at Hogwarts.
So, Eugenia grabbed the nearest sheet of parchment she could reach and an ink pen.
And she began to write:
Eugenia was happy with how the text turned out. She left the pen down and pinned the parchment to the corkboard. Maybe none of the seventh years would read it, or consider it important, but she thought it was enough. This was a farewell, her own farewell, with the words coming straight from the heart. And how she was proud of the seventh years, she was proud of herself. Quietly she muttered a “thank you all” and left the small hall, ashamedly, in tears. She thought about when that moment would come for her. How would she feel? Quickly, she tried to forget these thoughts. She mustn’t stress about it now. She had six more years. Now she was determined to enjoy herself and become the best student of her grade. For her seventh year friends.Dear Seventh Years, graduates of 2024,
I may be nothing more than a measly first year, even though I have little connections with you, I would like to say goodbye. You have attended this magnificent school of magic for Seven years. Seven tough and challenging, but also fun years. You have slowly become the inspiration of many students, especially younger ones. I am no exception. You made me believe in myself, believe that one day, I will achieve something great and that graduating will come. You have been friends, mentors and idols of so many students, an important part of our community.
Now, your time at Hogwarts is coming to a close. All of those wonderful memories and friends must be left behind and the chapter named “Hogwarts” is over. Your time here though, will never be forgotten. We will always remember you as the people who made a difference at times of difficulty. You were the people who were the oldest, the most experienced, the people we could always ask help from. I can’t imagine the emotional burden of leaving the past seven years of your life behind.
I believe, when you were first years, you still had that odd feeling of intimidation when looking towards older students. See where you stood once and where you are now. You have managed to complete this long journey towards maturity, perfection in magic, and alas, adulthood. We are all proud of you for achieving that, even though you are like strangers to most of us. I hope you will lead a great and successful life filled with happiness. What I also hope is that you don’t forget your time at Hogwarts and how you were the inspiration and role model to everyone, especially us younger students. I wish you all the best in your new life. I’ll never forget you! Ever!
Farewell dear Seventh Years,

Calming Presence in Effect: Figaro Affected
This was the first year in which someone that Piérre personally knew to be a seventh year was graduating. Granted, he still didn't know those students very well, they were two years older than him and they were probably more interested in their own community relationship as opposed to allowing a younger upstart student be a part of them, but that didn't meant that Piérre didn't keep an eye out. That he didn't watch or make sure that things were 'business as usual' when it came to them and their daily schedules.
They were his ship rats, in that way--like most people were. If something weird was going on with them, something weird was going on. Losing them was like losing integral pieces of information that he wouldn't be able to get back. He would have to find more ship rats, would have to find younger ones that were less predictable. In fact... he was becoming a ship rat himself.
But alas... he couldn't bring himself to think about such things right now. This was supposed to be a good and a happy day. This was supposed to be an appreciation day for the eldest students and their graduation day, and Piérre would be damned if he took away from that. So, as such, he did leave a pair of his own notes. Nothing flashy, just a pair of somethings very basic and simple as a well-wish for their intended individuals.
Dear Graduates,
Good luck in your future endeavors! Take care, continue to study or work hard depending on where you plan on going, remember those of us back here, remember your friends, remember each other, remember the things you've learned and the things that you've been taught. Unless you come back as a crusty prof, this is the only time you'll ever be here, so don't ever forget the things you've accomplished and done here.
But hey. Freedom is pretty fun too, so congrats for that. Again, good luck in wherever it is that you plan to go, stay safe, and go accomplish everything you put your minds to!
~ PM
Xailah,
It was an honor to fly with you, even if it was only once. It was also an honor to get to know you even though you lowkey kind of scare me a bit in a good way. I hope that you can do everything that you want to do in your life, you seem to have a lot of awesome hobbies that I wish I was even remotely good at.
Take care, stay safe--protect that wand.
~ Piérre
The letters departed from his hands and went instead onto the board of notes and well-wishes as Piérre pinned them in diametric positions: one to the broad class overall near the center where it would be easily seen, and the one to Xailah pinned beneath a few others so that only the 'X' of her name would be visible.
With a satisfied hum, Piérre nodded and then turned about to continue on his way to the Great Hall, beloved silvery bengal Figaro in tow.

Farewell Class of 2024
Banner was made by Kaito Asano
Date : June 10th, 2024 Color code : Written|Thought|Said June, the end of spring and the beginning of summer, when the daisies bloom, showing the beauty of farewell colors. Today the atmosphere at Hogwarts is a little bit different than usual. "The time has finally come." Everyone can definitely see it, the banner that says Farewell Class of 2024 is mounted on a large corkboard, replacing the wall decoration on one side of the Small Hall which Sere usually passes without the slightest intention of stopping. If usually all the students would just continue walking straight towards the Great Hall for foods, today Sere could see some of them stop and stare at the corkboard in the Small Hall.
The banner showed that graduation for the seventh year is getting closer. Sere turned her head and her feet stopped walking for an exact reason. Never before had she seen such warm farewells to the seniors. At her old muggle-school, a goodbye wasn't something that normally celebrated by the entire school. The senior class would throw their own big farewell party and not many juniors would participate -moreover, care- about the event, but here at Hogwarts -again- this kind of thing is something new for her. A small warm farewell, giving the family vibe, struck into Sere's deeper heart. One of the best simplest things she found in this school. Whoever came up with this idea is a brilliant.
Sere took out a piece of parchment from her pocket. She had heard about this farewell event from the common room and decided to write a short message to the graduates.
It's not a patronizing message, nor a very meaningful message, but Sere feels she will be happy if she receives this simple message from someone else one day. Sere put the message on the corkboard and smiled slightly before stepping to get her breakfast in the Great Hall.To all the seventh-years,
A congratulation for you all that have successfully completed your extraordinary-magical school life. You have done your best. Please keep being someone that yourself love more than anything else in the world. You can fly as high as possible to achieve your dreams, and if you fall, it doesn't matter, the clouds will catch you and give you the softest hug. But if you don't want to fly high, it also doesn't matter. Clouds and its softest hug can always be created on the ground with the help of magic, right?
From the first year of Gryffindor,
Sere Nade
June, the end of spring and the beginning of summer, just as the cherry blossoms fall, the sounds of resounding bells of hope could be heard, blowing the wind of freedom for everyone who walk straight towards the door of adulthood that shines brightly right in front of their eyes.WC : 461/400
Farewell Class of 2024

Matthew stared up at the growing wall of farewells. It was such a sweet idea but as his first year drew to a close the boy had been feeling anything but happiness. Becoming a wizard had shown him so much and taught him a great deal of things but it had also changed him and he had struggled plenty this year. Day by day he would pass the board watching it grow with letters and pictures all expressing their joy and respect for the graduating class, congratulating them. Of that he was sure they deserved, after all many who arrive in these hallowed halls never make it that far, like Rowan, the thought stabbing at his heart.
As the final days were dawning a peace drew over him. It was certainly nothing compared to the bubbling excitement that he had felt when first boarding the train on platform 9 3/4 but Matthew couldn't contain his excitement to finally get to return home to his fathers. Having had art events in the spring he hadn't seen them in many months and it was sure to be a reunion cherished in his memory forever. He surmised that the hope it inspired in him must have been the reason he found himself once more drawn to the board. Matthew wasn't sure what he would say, the pen would simply dictate his heart whatever it felt and if it wrote poorly he could always discard it though up there surrounded by the thousands of others his note would be largely insignificant either way.
Finding an alcove to sit in he stared out from the castles window taking in the view of clinging hugs and desperate goodbyes before his quill reached for the ink and inspiration took hold;
The weight of the year he had been carrying for the last month finally seemed to drop a little as he finished his note. It was nothing particularly special but in allowing him to release all that pent up emotion it meant a great deal to Matthew. For a while he simply sat with it, reading it to himself time and time again while he continued to watch the world go by. Was it really the end of his first year. It felt like no time at all and yet so much had happened. His heart still weighed heavy with every memory but hope had wormed its way back in and it had a whole summer to reburn into the blazing fire it had been on September 1st. Striding back to the bulletin he stuck it to the board and closing his eyes wished his best for every seventh year leaving.Dear Seventh Years,
I can't say that I have had the personal honour of knowing any of you and although to you I am no one to me you are all living proof. Proof that this school is worth every scar and every painful memory. As I read the threads of your lives through the published accomplishments on this very board I am as inspired as I can be that, despite how I feel now, one day I will be in your very position. Wishing that I could do it all over again, hoping that the story would find another page and the book didn't have to end.
This year has been a tough one for me but because of all of you I know that there is not only the possibility for change but the probability as well. Your nervous first year selves that are reflected in our eyes have blossomed into champions of the school, blossomed into a symbol of hope for all of us who wonder how time will change us. So I suppose this note is a thank you rather than a congratulations. You have not only all survived your time here but thrived. You alone now have the power to reshape our world as its next generation and I hope you use that power wisely.
Warmly,
Matthew Campbell, First Year
