After I told her about leaving her mouse at the food table, she seemed a little distressed and took off the mask. I thought she was going to fall to the ground stiffly but she slowly floated down. Victoria hurried towards the table, pick Vick up, put her on her shoulders and come back. Thank god other students didn't see Vick. It would give them quite a scare.

“I didn't ask if you wanted anything other than the table. Sorry. I was a little scared so I didn't remember to buy anything or ask you." Vic said when she came back.
"Its fine, I'm not that hungry. I had a rather big lunch." I replied. How can you not have a big lunch here at Hogwarts. The food is simply amazing.
“What do you like doing? I don't know exactly what is done at balls like this. I'm even going to prom for the first time." she asked.
"Well, I like football, I'm Spanish and English so I guess its in the blood. And recently I discovered how fun Quidditch was," I said. I'm not sure how to respond to her asking about what was usually done at balls and it was technically my first prom where I interacted with anybody so00... yeah.
"I think you just chat, hang out with your friends, have a drink and relax. I think maybe later there will be some activities but I dunno." I continued.

"For some reason, I doubt that..."

Percival knew exactly what her boyfriend was like and from what he had seen the brat would probably do it many times over. Winnie was an annoying girl, but even she didn't deserve a kid like him. One day Gray hoped she'd finally come to her senses, she'd be better off without him and probably live a more sane life. Nodding lightly, his mouth offered a small smile in the corner of his lips "Don't mention it..." he said rather warmly than usual. Was it the fact he was trying to hide his true identity or something else that had yet to be realised?

Upon speaking her native tongue the somber expression soon turned into excitement. Percival himself had not spoken it in school for a long time, half of it was mainly due to most of the students not being able to understand it. Winnie however was one of the few that did, as well as a handful of people were also half or fully Irish.

"Sea, tá Gaeilge ag mo mháthair agus mar sin d’fhoghlaim mé uaithi" "Yes, my mother is Irish so I learned from her" he said before giving her a slow twist with the help of his hand held high "D’fhoghlaim mé sa bhaile nuair a thosaigh mé Hogwarts ar dtús. Tá áthas orm go bhfuil a fhios agam go raibh mo chuid ceachtanna tairbheach" "I learned at home when I first started Hogwarts. I'm happy to know that my lessons have been beneficial"

The mystery student seemed to hesitate for a moment to her next question, but it didn't take long for him to finally brew up an excuse "Now now, it wouldn't be a masquerade if you knew my name" the boy said with a boop of her nose.

"Even if I did reveal my true name, I think you'd regret not keeping it a mystery..."

"For some reason, I doubt that..."

His words caught her off guard, it was possible he was just trying to console her using the limited information he had about her boyfriend, but... Could the stranger's cryptic remark hold more meaning? Was it possible he knew Mathias? There were times she had nagging doubts that seemed to linger everywhere she went, casting a shadow over her otherwise picture-perfect relationship, but there was never any evidence behind these feelings until now, right?

She felt like she might have a panic attack in the middle of the dance floor, where masks concealed both faces and truths. "Do you... Know him?" The question slipped from her lips before she could stop herself, but as the words left her mouth she realized how foolish the question was, "I guess you wouldn't unless you know who I am-..." She was blabbering, as she often did when she grew nervous. Luckily the stranger's Irish offered a welcomed distraction.

Her mother hailed from the land he had been born in, and his from the land she had been born in. "Ó, ansin tá rud eile i gcoiteann againn, mar is Béarla í mo mháthair. Oh, then we have another thing in common, because my mother is English." She replied, a flicker of warmth lighting up her features, "Bhí Gaeilge ag mo sheantuismitheoirí i gcónaí liom ag fás aníos. My grandparents always spoke Irish with me growing up."

Her cheeks bloomed into a deep flush when he bopped her nose. "H-Hey! Don't boop me, I'm not a dog..." Winnie protested, her nose scrunching up instinctively. She reached a hand up to playfully swat his away before grasping it tightly.

"Huh?" Her head tilted at his last statement and confusion flickered across her features, "Why would I regret it? Are you self conscious about your face or something? I don't care what you look like."

He watched as the mischief in Ying's eyes evolved into - hesitation? disappointment? as he made an apology on behalf of his unruly team. It was almost as if she was looking for a challenge or a joust of words tonight. Perhaps a little bit of jesting camaraderie, which seemed true to her spirit.

"A broom racing captain..." he mused, nodding to himself, and found that it made sense, considering her confidence and ability to stay on a broom no matter what happened around her. "And quidditch player," he said, as he turned to the girl named Bea, a bit of surprise in his expression, as if he was seeing her through fresh eyes. If it were up to him, he would've thought that Bea was a duelist like himself, given the grace with which she carried herself. It didn't seem that she would play a such a physical sport in which you knocked into things or other people. He almost had to bite back a laugh to himself when Ying asked if he was a quidditch player -- he didn't want them to think he was laughing at her. Nevertheless, a bit of rare mirth shone in his eyes. "Oh thank goodness, no. Mahoutokoro's team wouldn't train above the oceans during tropical storms if I was on the team," he said -- a rare admittance of his one weakness. "I was just participating because I have -- classmates on the team," he almost said 'friends', but caught himself in time, "and they needed more players for the impromptu match, so I was just offering my time to be helpful." There was no way he would let his school be disgraced before even playing. It was here that he tied his fox mask back across his pale face, as if covering up his blunder.

"I'm actually a duelist -- perhaps the least adventurous of sports, because it's most predictable." At least to him, it was. "There are only so many spells that you can use, and I've experienced them all," he said evenly, as if it was the most natural thing in the world -- burns; nausea; lightning; humiliation was a class of its own. "They're nothing like getting whipped off a broom from such heights, and not knowing who or what will be doing it. I admire the courage of those who play broom sports. Did it come naturally to you both?" he asked, wondering what it was like to feel so differently about broom sports. He didn't often converse with broom athletes.

His hesitation about his school seemed to go unnoticed, and for that, he was grateful. He silently congratulated himself on how well he kept emotions in check. No, he could not think badly of his own school -- it somehow seemed treasonous. "How about the both of you? What do you think of your experience at Hogwarts? I don't suppose there's a ball or camp every day?" Perhaps he could learn from them whether it was similar to Mahoutokoro.

Akira was relieved that both of his companions felt it was best to move towards the ball now that the gates were open. At Ying's mention of his name as 'Mr. Shimizu', he realized that it sounded odd to his ears when he was to call her 'Ying'. "Getting some refreshments sounds wonderful, Ying. And please feel free to call me 'Akira'," he offered to them both, almost finding himself willing to become friends with them, should circumstances allow.

He hardly recognized the stadium with all the flora and exquisite decorations. Finding a refreshment table nearby, he eyed the drinks and desserts. "These look inviting. Would you both like something as well?" He would move to pick up a cucumber limeade after his companions responded or chose refreshments of their own, and take a sip of the cool drink.

Aurélie skipped over to the refreshments table, Emily in tow. The other girl, thankfully, had agreed to go with her. If she hadn't, she would've been alone again, and she would've had to have found another person to introduce herself to.

The table was filled with an assortment of food and drink. Making her way to the drink station, Aurélie looked between all the options, trying her best to choose. Eventually, she picked up a decoratively arranged berry spritzer. She, of course, seen most of the drinks on the table at different parties that her beloved grandparents had taken her to, but she'd mostly gone with the gillywater or Italian cream soda, her personal favourites. But today was all about trying something new, wasn't it?

After they'd both grabbed their drinks for the night, Aurélie turned back to Emily. "Would you like to go sit down? There are plenty of free tables." The wicker tables and chairs were cute and inviting, and Aurélie just wanted to sink into their white cushions and people watch for a little bit, all the while enjoying her berry spritzer.

If Emily agreed, Aurélie would bound ahead once more, choosing a smaller table with four chairs surrounding it that was extremely close to the dance floor. Not many people were dancing yet, as some were still filtering in from the entrance, but it was always fun to be near the music.

"So, Emily, tell me about yourself. Are you a first year, like me? Oh, and I've heard that Hogwarts has houses! Could you tell me which one you are in and what it means? I didn't really understand the system very well when a friend explained it to me."

Talking with @Nikolai Volkov @Matthew Campbell, @Quinn Brook, and @Ophelia Northwell.
Viva found herself blushing once again as Nikolai praised her. Her flush deepened as she saw Ophelia nodding along, agreeing with him. A rush of warmth spread through her. They were both so kind, and she barely even knew Nikolai. Before she had met the Durmstrang student, she had always had a slight feeling of unease about the school. She had been certain all students who went there were rough and cold, and she had not really been excited to meet anyone from Durmstrang. But then Nikolai had come along and been so gentlemanly and genuinely kind, and Viva was seriously throwing away all her past assumptions and prejudices.

Managing a small smile, Viva tried to show her gratitude for their kind words as she gazed at Ophelia. Breathing out as the focus of the conversation turned to Ophelia's lovely gown, Viva was relieved the attention was not on herself any longer. She nodded along, and then spoke up softly as she addressed Ophelia. "I agree with Nikolai, your gown is quite lovely." Why she was being so formal, she didn't know. Her smile grew wider still as Nikolai started to talk of the Hogwarts houses. She laughed a little, covering her mouth with her hand as he hopelessly mispronounced the word Hufflepuff. "Thank you," she said lightly, already feeling much better.

There was still a little sort of pit in her stomach, however, as her mind kept involuntarily drifting back to Matthew and Rowan, and how very happy they had looked together. Abruptly, her smile faltered, and she hastily looked away to hide it. Viva noticed Nikolai had seemed less joyful for a moment as well, and wondered why with a pang of guilt. Did he not want to be here? Was he only escorting her because he felt obliged to by some sort of duty? Viva didn't want that at all. She swallowed. This ball was turning out to be a whole lot harder than she had expected.

She turned to her friend. "Thank you as well, Ophelia," she said. "I appreciate your kind words and think you are such a wonderful person and friend." Her head turned as she heard someone else approaching. "Quinn!" she exclaimed as she saw her other friend. She had known Quinn for a while, and although the girls weren't quite as close, they were still good friends. "You're alright, you weren't interrupting," Viva tried to reassure her friend. She glanced around at all the people laughing, chatting, and dancing, and felt another pang of sadness as she imagined Matthew and Rowan dancing together and looking dreamily into each other's eyes. She swallowed once more and fixed her gaze on the ground.

Kaya smiled listening to Yasha while dancing with him. It was fascinating how interesting it was to spend this ball in his company. She could say this was much better than any of pureblood balls she attended.

Beater and keeper, both positions are great. That makes you rather focused and quite strong as well. She smiled. That would be interesting, especially if I could see you playing. For some reason I don't want to play against you. Kaya chuckled. She felt like the conversation was going so natural and she was glad about it.

When he answered about animal, Kaya smiled. As cliche as it might be, he described it well and this made it not so much as cliche. Wolf? It's great. These animals are great in any situation. She liked wolves although never saw them in life. When he returned her question to her, Kaya smiled, taking a second to think. I don't really know. Perhaps, it would be Phoenix as it's smart and the process of re-borning is really fascinating. Or maybe Thunderbird. Kaya mused.

After couple of minutes else, Kaya thought about what to ask else. She really wanted to ask about his eyes, but she didn't want to be misunderstood. So Kaya decided to not ask about it. Would you like to craft something when we will go to the crafting area? She asked, curious.

Kaya planned to craft something for him and for her bestie, but she would be happier if Yasha was interested in it too rather than simply being polite. She didn't care if he would craft something for her too or not as both were alright for her. But she was curious if they could talk more and what would they decide to do after crafting.

Mellani looked at the girl who had searched for the key with her in surprise when she asked if Mellani would like to enter the ball together. Out of all the things that the girl could have said, Mellani expected this one the least. Of course, she was hoping that the girl would ask her and it would be good to have someone to go to the ball with, but Mellani was not a very great person and she really did not think that anyone would be willing to be friends with her.

"Yeah, of course!", she said, smiling brightly at the other girl as the entered the ball together. "So... I'm Mellani, what's your name?", she asked at an attempt to make small talk. She was not great at talking, but she was willing to give it a try.

Mellani looked around at the arrangement done for the ball in the Quidditch stadium, one of the place Mellani visited often to practice for her matches. It looked beautiful, and Mellani was awe-struck at how the staff had managed to arrange such a thing in such a small amount of time. It was her second ball, and this one looked as grand as her first one.

Tori smiled. She realized that she hadn't eaten anything in the evening. She didn't feel hungry because she was going to the prom for the first time. She was broken out of her thoughts when Vick made a small sound.

"Then you are muggle-born or half-blood. I have never seen a Thoroughbred student who knows how to play football. Can you say something in Spanish?"

She suddenly started talking out of curiosity. The only time he had seen anyone speaking Italian was on television. It seemed quite different to her when someone spoke another language.

"Hmm interesting. But after this ball, I will draw pictures of these beautiful flower trees, that's for sure."

She looked down at the colorful trees on the trees and the beautiful flowers there. She tried to imagine that these drawings would be beautiful when she painted them with the watercolors Es bought. When she thought about this, she smiled involuntarily.

"The fox mask suits you very well, by the way. It's like an animal ball in here. It would be very interesting though."

She said in a friendly voice. She thought about what it would be like if they wore masks and became animals. This made her smile.

Emily found herself gliding along the floor's surface quickly as she followed Aurélie to keep up with her and her upbeat energy towards the refreshments table. They hadn't been talking for long but it seemed Aurélie was quite taken with her. At first Emily fearfully suspected it as a form of pity but it was quite clear to her now that Aurélie was enjoying the time they were spending together. And if she were to be honest, Emily was confident to admit the same thing.

At the refreshments table Aurélie grabbed herself a rather nice looking berry spritzer. Emily wasn't one to drink and so stuck with what she knew - a glass of Italian cream soda. With their drinks collected Emily looked around for a place to sit with her new friend. With everyone busying themselves with dancing and other revelry, the girls were spoiled for choice for seats.

"How about somewhere over there?" Emily pointed to a corner of the room where a display of greenery shrouded the walls on either side of it in a discord of coloured flowers and bulbs. It was quite a lovely sight, very much reminiscent of a description of a fairy garden.

Emily walked over carefully with her drink in her hands as she sat it down on the wicker table, melding into the white cushion as she sat down on the chair with Aurélie opposite her.

Immediately on cue upon sitting down, Emily was met with another interrogation. Her drink had barely touched her lips when Aurélie, with all her fervent optimism, asked her more questions. Smiling sheepishly, Emily put her drink down for the time being and answered her kindly.

"Yes, well... Hogwarts does indeed have Houses. Four of them to be exact. Gryffindor, SLytherin, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw. I'm a Hufflepuff myself. They're meant to symbolise loyalty and kindness, and supposedly have a love for all creatures. I guess that makes sense considering I love all creatures." Emily chuckled to reassure herself.

"Gryffindors are meant to be courageous, Ravenclaws are said to be knowledgable and Slytherin are said to be... cunning." That last bit felt a bit sour coming off the end of Emily's tongue. She knew plenty of Slytherin students that she could call close acquaintances and none of them seemed "cunning" in the slightest.

"So, what is Bauxbatons like? Do they have houses?" And thus was the moment Emily's Muggle curiosity began to spark. As it burned, so did her confidence.
