As Brookline "people watched", she wanted to do something other than this, even though it's really fun, she still would rather socialize. If her best friends Peter and Winnie was here then, the trio would be talking all night long. Although, she wished they were here but they weren't.
Suddenly, Brookline sat up, rigid, Peter was here! 'Oh my gosh. Can't believe I forgot!' She thought, mentally slapping herself. He goes to Beauxbatons, so he must be here! She stood up, searching him in the crowd, she hadn't sent him a letter in a while, and she hadn't seen him here at Hogwarts yet.
Brookline sat down, saddened that she couldn't find him, she blamed it on the busy scene, all the students from all schools were probably at best were in the Stadium for this ball. She decided to " people watch" again, watching a girl @Ophelia Northwell run up to the girl @Genevieve Delacourt in the pink dress she had seen earlier, her face glimmered in the pale light, it looked like the girl was just crying. Brookline looked around, trying to look for Peter but had no luck.
As Brookline watched the students dance or socialize or looked for Peter, a young brown haired girl @Kaitlyn Conner walked past Brookline in a light pastel blue dress with a pretty white mask veiling her face with a whispered Hi. Brookline's eyes jerked to the girl when she heard the soft whisper. Brookline let a small grin shape her lips, gently waved to the girl and whispered back, "Hi," her Welsh accent overpowering with the whisper and made the whisper thick.
When the girl walked away with a final smile, Brookline looked to the left, to see if she could see Peter, but instead saw a girl @Tracey Bailey in a purple dress, talking with a boy @Mateo Yamamoto she had already seen.
As the Ravenclaw continued to "people watch", her thoughts seemed to land on Peter instead of anyone else. She told herself that she would send Peter a letter soon. Very soon.

Pureblood too. From two families coming from Canada and having long history as well. She smiled even more amused now. If it would be ball not in Hogwarts, she'd be expected to talk about alliance and other things that two different families could benefit from. However, it was Hogwarts and so she opted to try to have fun for as long as was possible. She had a distant feeling like something was happening where they were searching for clues, but she didn't want to go to check it out.
Thinking about what she'd prefer more now, she looked at Yasha again. I'm not really interested in food now, so unless you'd like to start with food, we could dance? She didn't care much about whether her partner could dance well or not. It was simply about spending time with him and getting to know him more that was taking her attention now.
However, when he mentioned about craft area, Kaya got even more excited. Craft area? Would be nice to go there at some point. Are you interested in it? It was one of her favorite hobbies, but she did it only for her bestie till now. Kaya adored hand-made jewelry and actually anything that can possibly be crafted. She thought about making bracelets if they would end up visiting the craft area today. However, by that time she hoped to know more about him.

Amber was alone for now as she entered the ball through the crowd. All of her friends were somewhere in their crowd as they had gone off to find a friend or person to go with. Or they already had a partner. Amber on the other hand was just hoping for someone to talk to.
She didn't expect herself to find a partner and after her last ball, which she was kind of traumatized by she decided she was done with boys for now. Only friends and that's it. So when a young girl, younger than her crashed into her and she was pushed into many other people before falling down, Amber couldn't have helped thinking that this was fate.
I mean she had just hoped to find a friend. Maybe this was who. Amber pulled herself up, luckily her dress had taken no damage. "Oh, of course, I'm okay, no damage!" I replied. "Are you ok? Did someone hit you or?"
The crowd into the ball seemed to have no stopping but now Amber could finally see what the ball looked like. It was pretty. Beautiful actually. All the trees were spring themed and it was gorgeous. I could already see chaos forming but that was something completely normal to Amber.
The food smelled so good and Amber wanted to head over there immediately. "Hey-" then she paused realizing she didn't know the girl's name, "Wait hold up, what's your name? I'm Amber Frost Hart, 2nd year student at Ilvermorny! Would you like to head to the food table, I'm hungry!"
I smiled. I hoped she would agree to my offer.

Magical Masquerade: the actual ball
Oh, had he not missed these special events for a single minute.
Upon hearing of the infamous masquerade ball approaching, Percy had been dead set on avoiding such a travesty all together. However, only a few days away from the event his deep curiosity to see what was going on finally took over. He had been pretty anti social in the last few months due to homework commitments and overall fed up with the ever repeating cycle of almost dying. Gray needed a break, and now that he had recharged his mentality Percival was willing to go back into the harsh reality of Howarts to catch up.
His attire wasn't anything special, especially for a ball. It was a smart black sweater, black trousers, and a masquerade mask that looked quite sinister when you took in its detail. He didn't really want to draw too much attention to himself and keep a low profile, something which only got increasingly difficult the more the night dragged on. Percival had been through enough balls to know what was going to happen... fire, explosions, blood... you name it. If the same happened here, he wouldn't be surprised in the slightest.
In the meantime, he kept on the edge of the dancefloor and rolled up his sleeves before folding both arms in a focused pose. He didn't see many familiar faces right now, but it was still early days and the night was still young.
Who knew what time would bring?

Magical Masquerade: the actual ball
Irina's eyes widened as she took in her incredible surroundings, her head nearly twisting itself from her body in order to try and appreciate it all. The first few people were only just trickling in giving her a fairly unimpeded view of the enchanting glen.

She was of course immediately transfixed by the beautiful trees, an array of vibrant colours, allurring fruits and tantilizing branches perfect for perching in. She was then drawn to the dance floor surrounded by wicker tables and chairs. Irina could see that most people were sitting down first but found herself thinking 'I have got to ask Mahl to dance . . . later.'
She had not yet finished eying the frighteningly formal cutlery array when Mahlioz squeezed her hand with a grin and asked "You hungry?"
"Pff, does a Niffler like shiny things?" Then Irina turned to where her friend was looking . . . and thoughts of dancing, formal cutlery and even climbing trees was accio-ed from her mind. Food. Half of her was sure she had never seen such incredible food in her life and wondered how or who on earth had the ability to create such delicacies. The other half was not in the least surprised as this was of course Hogwarts.
With a small whoop, Irina dragged her friend forward by their clasped hand and rushed towards the heavily laden tables. "I should've come to a ball sooner," she piped, letting go of her friends hand in order to start piling up her plate. She knew full well that her eyes were ten times bigger than her stomach and her appetite was as small as a pigymy-puff but it didn't stop her from adding everything that took her fancy to her ever more wobbling plate.
She waited until Mahlioz had filled her own before leading them towards an empty table, knowing Mahlioz would probably prefer this whilst privately hoping and wondering if others would come and sit with them. Placing her plate down on the white tablecloth, she hurried to where Mahlioz was going to sit and pulled out their chair for them, giving a dramatic bow and wave of her hand.
"Do be seated, O'Enchanting One," she entoned, causing her voice to become elongated and posh as she grinned up at Mahl through twinkling eyes.

spring ball • threadOphelia swallowed, hopefully not visibly, trying to calm herself down. There! That's a smile, isn't it? That means Viva isn't angry at me for interrupting, doesn't it? She hated this, guessing at her friend's feelings and wondering if she'd done something wrong. It had just been instinct to come over, to protect a friend who seemed to need protecting in the moment. But now, looking at Viva, she didn't look weak or like she'd just been crying. Honestly, she looked strong and happy. So there was no need for me to come. I guess everything is taken care of.
Awkwardly, Viva introduced Ophelia to the other boy that she hadn't recognised. As she said his name, Nikolai, nothing came to the Ravenclaw's mind. She was pretty good at remembering names and faces, but the name Nikolai didn't bring up any face, least of all the one that she was currently staring at. Stop staring, Ophelia.
Chastised by her own words, Ophelia decided to move her gaze onto Viva instead. The Hufflepuff girl wore a beautiful pink gown and mask, and she looked stunning. She finished introducing Nikolai as a Durmstrang student, and everything suddenly made more sense. Oh. That must be why I've never seen him before.
Taking a breath and giving Nikolai a small nod and smile, Ophelia echoed his words. "A please to meet you as well, Nikolai." She felt odd, calling him by his first name when he'd said her surname. As he spoke about how special Viva was, she found herself nodding along. All that he said and more was true about her friend. She, like Ophelia, was so many different things for so many different people, which the Ravenclaw had figured out during Viva's birthday party.
Nikolai asked, rather directly, about Ophelia's gown and how it was inspired. She blinked, figuring out how much she wanted to say. There was so much history between her and peacocks, but she was sure that this Durmstrang student wouldn't want to hear all of that. "Oh, peacocks have always been one of my favourite animals, and I don't say that lightly. I'm a biology enthusiast, and I've studied many different creatures. When they announced the theme of this ball, my first thought went to a peacock themed outfit. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a nice pre-made mask in time, so I had to paint it. Not the best quality, but I am a perfectionist." She laughed a little. It was true. She never did rest until she'd done her absolute best on everything.
Nikolai continued to speak, this time about her lack of a date. At first, his phrasing was a little rude and Ophelia felt a bit of anger flare up. She was a hopeless romantic, but that didn't mean she had to couple up so soon in life! But as he rephrased his words, apologising as English wasn't his mother tongue, she calmed down. "Ah, well, I think the Hogwarts balls are less of a formal event and more of something for students from different schools to come together and meet new friends. I would never have met you, after all, had this ball not happened." She gave him another little laugh, though this one was more like her real laugh.
The boy spoke some more and Ophelia began to feel as if he got nervous in quiet situations. Most people were like that, she conceded, but some, like her, enjoyed the silence. She wasn't opposed to speaking, of course, but she did appreciate the calm and quiet once in a while. This time, Nikolai spoke of the Hogwarts houses and what he had learned from Viva about the Hufflepuff house. The way he said the name of the house made Ophelia giggle. Usually, she would have covered it up, but she felt oddly comfortable in front of Nikolai and Viva.
"No, I am not a Hufflepuff, like Viva. I'm part of the house of Ravenclaw. We are said to treasure knowledge over anything, which I do, so I suppose the hat got that part correct. Some people believe that Ravenclaws think they're smarter than everyone else, which isn't true though. Sure, there are a few people like that, there always is, but I'm not like that. I know that I still have a lot to learn." Ophelia shrugged, trying to put off all that she'd just said.
As Nikolai spoke to Viva with a soft quality to his voice, Ophelia found herself nodding along to his speech once more. He was good with words, even if English wasn't native to him. And everything he said was very true, about Viva and about the rest of the Hufflepuffs.
"For the record," Ophelia said, trying to lighten the mood after both her and Nikolai's monologues. "I totally agree with him, Viva."

Magical Masquerade: the actual ball
‿︵‿୨✿୧‿︵‿

Winnie entered the actual ball™ with one mission; to put distance between her and Mathias. He had broken her trust by kissing another woman, and had then tried to push the blame on Winnie because he had mistaken the mystery girl for her.
She had been hopeful she could just blend into the crowd (the irony of which was lost on her), but it appeared that not many students had migrated to the actual event of the evening, and were still hanging around outside.
She would have to make do with a secondary plan. Surveying the room, Winnie's eyes sought out a distraction; a dance partner, someone who looked like they were at least over the age of 12. Her gaze landed on a figure standing on the edge of the dancefloor, his presence commanding yet understated with his simple attire. The mask he wore lent an air of mystery.
Had she recognized the mystery man as Percival, she might have avoided him until the tears on her face had at least dried, but in the heat of the moment, all she saw was a dance partner, a means to escape the turmoil that churned within her. She also hadn't seen the boy she had once considered an enemy in over a year and a half, so she assumed he was some random sixth or seventh year.
Her eyes set on the target, she walked up to the mystery man and grabbed him by the arm, "You. We're dancing." She stated as if it were a command with no room for rejection. Usually she wouldn't be so forward, but she currently possessed the kind of confidence only a scorned woman could possess, one that propelled her forward undeterred by any uncertainties.

Yash swept a hand towards the dancefloor and gently put a hand on the small of her back to guide her towards it. "As I said, I am at your leisure. I did not really have a lot of plans for this ball other than to show up and leave." He said with a small, amused kind of smirk. "I had a small portion before I came, as it does not do to come to an event too hungry and look like a pig rushing for the refreshments." He explained as they walked over and got into position to dance.
"We could take a this turn and head to the craft area if that is what you wish. I can not say I have been too interested in crafting myself, but it might be a good time, especially as the dance floor begins to fill up." He commented as the next song began and he started to lead Kaya in a waltz. Yasha found that he was enjoying having a dance partner closer to his own height. As he was unusually tall for his own age, many of the girls he had danced with at previous parties he had been to were always at least a head shorter than him. Kaya was almost at eye level and it did make for better talking and better over all movement.
"How are you liking Ilvermorny? I admit that I do not know much about North America or their school." He said, more to make polite conversation as they danced than any real curiosity. He knew that it was polite to make conversation in situations like this, but frankly found it hard to think of anything to ask. Even at school he was generally a wallflower who didn't have a lot of friends he could speak of or to, even though he got along well enough with his classmates.
Not to be cliche, but he was a lone wolf and hadn't ever really minded being one. If he did end up with anything resembling friends, it was generally their doing and their drive to remain so. He was one to enjoy his books and his time in the peaceful woods surrounding Koldovstoretz.

Action: Talking and saving dessert, like a real hero should.Reginald had finally entered the ball properly, assured that their new friend and companion, Uri, would find his way in just the same after finishing up whatever it was that he wanted to do back at his dorm.
Trees and natural decorations filled his vision, and he couldn't help but be impressed with the amount of detail that had been put behind this, a smile coloring his lips as he heard his friend call out for those desserts, and frankly, he couldn't disagree considering the rumbling that threatened to publicize the fact that he barely eats anything on training days and followed his over-excitable companion over to the dessert table at the back.
"Wait for me! I also need sustenance!" He said as he struggled to keep up with the dessert gremlin in front of him, before almost bumping into her, sidestepping, and picking up his own spoon all in one motion. Talent. That's what this was.
Reginald's head tilted as he, assumedly, was offered the delicious-looking dessert by the girl. "Sure. I'm starving anyway." He said, anticipation evident in the twinkle of his eyes, before he, while she was holding up the plate, dipped his spoon into it for ease of access, and bit into it, stealing from her already dwindling supply of the heavenly treat. As he took the first spoonful, his senses were immediately awakened. The creamy ricotta danced on his palate; its texture smooth enough that he almost didn't feel it. A symphony of flavors that unfolded, heightened by the fact that he hadn't had any dessert in so long.
"That...was insane...How much do I have to pay for this to be an everyday item...?" He said with a wide grin, as he set his spoon down, and picked up a glass of water to follow that sugary goodness with something less harmful to his body. It's a give-and-take. He gets dessert, his body gets water.
"Cherries. I like cherries quite a bit." He said with a small smile, a hint of nostalgia running through them, and his hand instinctively going to touch his wand, the wand his mother sent him. A wand that he thought meant that she was cutting ties with him, too. Not just the magical world.
"Oh, hello, Ur-" He started, as he heard the voice of his long-lost friend, before his instincts flared up, and he felt dessert about to be wasted. Reginald quickly ducked down and grabbed the plate as it fell from Siobahn's hands, then looked up to see his friend's hand extended, and his other friend on the ground with a potentially broken nose. Reginald smiled.
"Um... The dessert is fine, though." He said, raising Siobhan's plate, and dipping his spoon in to take a second bite of it, before smiling at Uri on the ground and finishing his thought. "Hello, Uri. Mean right hook, yeah?"Word count: 480
