The Quietest People 𓆙 Basil checked again to make sure his satchel was shut tight before heading out of his cabin. He remembered when his dad made him go to a wizarding camp over the summer and his satchel hadn't been closed properly. All his art stuff had fallen out and been teased at and stomped on. Basil shuddered. He liked keeping to himself because of moments like that. He hadn't always been an introvert but he would always be one now. Basil looked down at his book which was about the animals of the artic. Basil had really hoped he wouldn't run into anyone during his walk. He just wanted to find a quiet place to read and draw. Basil bit his lip as he saw the amount of students out on the lovely day. Hoping to avoid them he took the path away from the clump of butterflies he had hoped to draw. He made his way to a tree and started to climb. After reaching the top he looked out over the top of the branches. Wow, there are so many different people here. Basil realized. He looked to see if he could find anyone he knew. He didn't see Devon but lost himself in a dreamy world of there cuddling session. He was so glad she had said yes. The ball was soon and he had ditched the cape in his outfit. Way to princely. He thought. He looked around more and noticed someone out of the courner of his eye. Is that? Basil took a closer look. He schooched to the edge of his branch and looked down. A girl a year older then him was walking near by. It is! It's that girl I met earlier! Kay was it? Kayla? Basil wondered. A boy his age came running up to the boy and made a hand gesture at him. Was that ASL? He wondered. Basil looked down as they walked somewhat under his tree. His momentum flung him forward. Aww no! I walked around the castle, admiring the grounds. They weren't as good as Ilvermorny's, but they were pretty and that was enough. I looked at some flowers and saw a butterfly on one of them. I looked at it, smiling sadly. Butterflys always reminded me of my grandmother, who had loved them. She had been deaf, and I had taken classes to communicate with her. I was okay at it, so I could talk with her fine, just not quickly. I looked away before I could start to cry. I saw a few people talking together and one boy lying on the ground and I knew it was my best chance at meeting a few people. That is if the boy wasn't injured or anything. I walked over and smiled shyly. "Hello." I said, waving. "Um...nice day isn't it? You don't mind me interrupting your conversation right?" I really hoped I wasn't as that would be very embarrassing and awkward. I vaguely recognized them from seeing them in the great hall at Hogwarts, but I didn't know any of them. I stole a glance at the boy on the ground, wondering what he was doing. "If I am please tell me."

Aurélie didn't like dressing up and acting fancy, but she did like dressing up in costumes. The difference? One costume was associated with fancy, stuck up people, and the other? It was associated with fun. It wasn't her first trip to Hogwarts, but she still appreciated the excitement in the air and how truly magical everything seemed. She couldn't wait to meet people from different schools.

Deciding to get out a bit and explore the grounds so that she wasn't doing that instead of taking part in the festivities, like last time, Aurélie laced up her shoes, ready to take a walk. The grounds of Hogwarts were large, a place where many groups of students from various schools lingered to get to know each other before the ball.

Aurélie speed-walked through the crowd. She didn't have a specific place to be, but she didn't want to get caught up in a conversation with people she already knew. If she had to speak to people, she'd rather go to people she didn't know yet, so that she could interact with them during the ball. There was so much to see, but it would've been best if she'd known someone from Hogwarts to take her on a tour.

Walking swiftly, Aurélie stopped, unintentionally, in front of a small group of people. They seemed to be in a lighthearted discussion, most likely about some mundane, like the weather. Usually, such
a common sight wouldn't catch Aurélie's attention, unless she was specifically looking for someone to talk to or a conversation to insert herself into. Today was no different.

The French girl would've quickly walked passed the group, had she not seen the board that one of them held. What are they doing? Suddenly interested, wondering if they were playing some sort of game, she stepped closer.

Unintentionally, Aurélie was now within conversation range. If she didn't speak soon, everyone would probably look at her oddly, and she did hate when that happened. Taking a breath, she smiled. If it had been a conversation with only one other person, she would've stuck out her hand confidently, as her beloved grandparents, Henri and Anaïs Océane, had taught her when she was younger. But this was a group of multiple people, and she didn't know any of them. That meant she'd have to start with an introduction.

Aurélie cleared her throat. She knew English, of course, but since it wasn't her mother tongue, she was slower in speaking it. Taking a moment to organise her thoughts, she began speaking with a large smile on her face. "Hello, everyone. I'm Aurélie Duval. I heard you all speaking and was hoping I could join in the conversation."
