"And we're back with the action!" Alyssea chuckled. Both Linda and Clair were on spell-casting duty, though it was clear who had it better. Linda's green sparks came alive but Clair moved just fast enough to avoid being blinded. Perhaps in her haste to avoid the green sparks, she couldn't quite bring her own spell to life.

Meanwhile, physical attacks were also happening. Alyssea watched as Della quickly headed for Ari after failing to hit Julia. The blonde girl took the opportunity to hit Ari while they were still recovering. "That's a nasty blatch from Captain Barfield! You know, I really hoped nobody would get grounded after the last round... But ehh, the lions are not backing down!"

As the rest slowed down, fresh racers Julia and Paige continued on. "Jenkins is absolutely killing it for her first race! And Mallary is closing in behind her- no wait! Jenkins is faster! She's heading for the maze, everyone!"

The maze was the winter races' version of the vines of the fall races. This was often the make-or-break of who could make it to the finish line. While Alyssea remained impartial (as was her job as a moderator), she also just couldn't root for anyone. Julia and Paige were both in her year group so their skills were likely similar. It just came down to luck.

Ying looked ahead and all she could see was a gigantic white wall of snow falling. She felt the cold breeze hit her first, it almost chilled her to the bone.

Two red figures appeared in her periphery and she quickly glanced over to see Xailah and Linda flying beside her. It was such an incredible sensation that invaded her senses at that moment. This race was not going to be easy for them, they were clearly at a disadvantage from the start, but as a team, as a strong, resilient and proud team, they overcame that and were still fighting to cross the finish line.

The young captain felt a surge of adrenaline and confidence and these feelings felt like a blessing, making the intense snow that fell on her like child's play. The only moment that made her hold her breath was when she noticed that Linda had been most affected but seeing her continue to fly made Ying refocus on her path.

And what a path...

Her dark eyes widened in amazement as she came face to face with the massive Whomping Willow that extended its threatening branches towards anyone who flew too dangerously close. Ying managed to dodge, but she didn't have time to feel relief...

Whoever chose that route undoubtedly had the devil on their shoulder and they decided to listen to him! An intense forest of tall trees approached, and it was merely a miracle that Ying had managed to pass through without a scratch.

Kyle shivered and clung unto his broom as he flew, his vision was ascewed but he was conscious enough to keep racing. Kyle felt a small pang of guilt as other broom racers passed him by, he had gone from almost being in the lead to trailing behind. No matter what though he was determined to keep going!

If salt water heals all wounds I shall live by ocean forever I presume.

Linda tried to cast a spell but missed. Perhaps she should be more focusing on what is in front of her instead of distracting herself over how long she wasted in one place.

She moved further on path, however, that wasn't that easy to do. Hopefully she could still reach more of her teammates or perhaps this race would finish soon.

It wasn't surprising that Ari was targeted after he led the pack, and sadly, he wasn't able to hold on tightly enough to his broom, and soon, the ground was rushing up to meet him. He landed in the snow with a muffled thud, the breath being jolted out of him for a moment from the impact and the cold. A rather unpleasant feeling, but he knew this sort of thing was what he signed up for when he initially joined the team at the beginning of his time at Hogwarts.

He shook the snow out of his long black hair and off of his clothes, praying nobody would try to make any dirty moves from behind. Gryffindor really wasn't holding back now, and Ravenclaw needed to hang on tight and keep their eyes peeled for any tricks the lions might try to unleash.

Julia held tightly to her broom, het knuckles turning white as she anxiously led the race. She knew not just her teammates, but also her housemates were counting on her to bring Gryffindor to victory, and she was desperate not to let Paige (or any of the other Ravenclaws) get in front of her.

Near Impossible snow? more like.... Actually she didn't have a better term for it. She was freezing, not completely, but still, the snow was intense. And because of that she couldn't fly as fast as usual. Maybe if Nicholas were there he could melt her frozen heart, just like olaf. And not long after that snow incident she hit the tree, she was still blaming the snow of course, not her slightly wonky accuracy. This part of the race wasn't too bad. But the opposing team was still ahead and she didn't like it one bit.

Maybe her arms and legs hadn't fully thawed—Della had trouble navigating the thick forest. But bumps and bruises and scrapes were nothing new in broom racing. As soon as the path cleared, she saw an eagle shortly ahead of her.

Without thinking, she sent her broom careening toward him at top speed. The collision only slightly vibrated her broom, and she sent him flying off his. Humph, payback to Ravenclaw for her trip to the ground.

Paige was progressing through the track, faster than before. It wasn't easy, but she was managing. Just. There wasn't much of the course left to complete, but she was tired. So tired she felt as if she could just fall asleep on her broom at this very minute. She closed her eyes as she entered the bright light. It reflected off her circular glasses, shooting rays near and far.
