Hufflepuff shrank to regroup. Ravenclaw rose up to press their advantage. To anyone familiar with the How to Train Your Dragons movies, which Bridget guessed was mostly just whoever else had been raised by Muggles, it was a bit like that rising shriek that preceded a Night Fury firing a blast. Ominous and fear-inspiring. Very specific comparison aside, she winced a bit in pre-sympathy, because it was obvious who was dominating right now.
Jake was just trying to get the blindfold off Amadea. It was hard to tell from her position if his hands were shaking, but what she could make out was that he was on his last legs. And maybe being half-behind Amadea to get at the knot was what saved him from the worst of what came next. The older Hufflepuff seemed to freeze, losing her chance to cast the one spell that might have saved her, but maybe she'd heard those incantations and the only instinct that had kicked in was to try to dodge. Sadly, dodging while blindfolded was a lot easier said than done.
Or maybe she'd been stunned by the crackers, actually. Delilah sent a whole slew of them exploding in front of the Hufflepuffs, and Bridget was glad to be observing them from here. They weren't as bad as the blast from a Confringo, but they were plenty nasty just the same, and plenty loud. Phaedra would grant no respite, wielding lightning bolts with accuracy like a mini Zeus. It was explosion and then shock and then, finally, fire.
Aida wielded the flamy spell yet again, but this time their cast was a bit more spectacular. They'd only called forth flames, but Bridget squinted at a stretch of white fabric that was decidedly not part of the typical Incendio. The bandage-looking fabric didn't last long, charred and eaten by the catching flames, but it was something for the wix to be proud of. Phaedra had done it, and they'd marvelled, but now they'd replicated the same.
Huge shoutout to Piérre for handling the rolls this round, you're wonderful and a life saver

Ravenclaw vs Hufflepuff: Match 2

After Phaedra’s magnificent tempestuous display and Delilah’s cracker jinx, the badgers were on their last legs. It seemed like a single puff of air could knock them over. Aida’s wand had gotten particularly excited by the flurry of extra spells being thrown around and, as if wanting to not be outdone, cast another spell of its own volition. This time was to be something of a joke for the poor wounded puffs, as the ferula spell mockingly suggested Amadea was about to spend some time in the hospital. Snickering, Aida tried to enjoy the final moments of the duel to the fullest.

Ravenclaw vs Hufflepuff: Match 2
It seemed like the duel was essentially set at this point, Del didn't want to be cocky because she had seen tides turn on the drop of a hat before but Jake looked like he was on his last legs and Amadea wasn't doing too hot either. Meanwhile all of the Ravenclaws were still standing proud, this would be a nice one to take back to the team.

Ravenclaw vs Hufflepuff: Match 2
Jake desperately fumbled with the blindfold on Amadea - the older Hufflepuff had been unable to cast, and with her vision blinded, it was no surprise! He HAD to get the blindfold off of her. It was better he try than her...she was a better caster than he was. If Jake fell, they might be ok, but if Amadea fell they were doomed. Finally the blindfold came off of her, but then Jake winced at the explosions all around them - the Ravenclaws had taken the opportunity to bombard the Hufflepuff team. This was a disaster - they were going to fall. He couldn't give up...but it was seeming more and more hopeless by the moment. Jake clenched his fist around his wand trying to think of something, anything, he could do to turn the tides.

Ravenclaw vs Hufflepuff: Match 2
A duel could turn around, but Ravenclaw was in the mood to experiment. While Aida’s wand awakened suddenly with a personality akin to her own, Phaedra chose Tempest, a series of lightning strikes pummeling down from above. The strikes were erratic given their nature, but a few met their mark upon Campbell’s frozen form. Phaedra eyed Morris, whose quick reflexes were reminiscent of her own cousin, ready to test the theory if he’d stay standing another round.Doing as strategized (x)

28th January 2024 - Morning
The duel finished in a manner that was, nicely put, complete overkill. Bridget was already a bit concerned watching what had to be Hufflepuff's last legs, no matter how much they could try to rally. And then Ravenclaw uttered the incantations for essentially two explosions, one of which split into two, and fire. All of it was headed for Jake, who was barely standing, and Amadea, who had picked a very bad moment to freeze.
Well, most of it was headed for Amadea, actually. Jake looked so bad that Phaedra could flick an extra cracker his way as an afterthought. But what none of them had been expecting, or at least what Bridget certainly hadn't, was for Jake to try to step in the way. It was something she'd done just yesterday, though much milder spells had been incoming, either selfless or pure strategy depending on who you asked. Even as her respect for the younger Hufflepuff rose, she gripped her wand a little tighter, very aware of the explosions, and the lightning, and the fire.
Jake's efforts weren't the most successful, as much as he tried. He just wasn't fast enough, not against sharp-eyed Eagles who smelled blood in the water. It happened very fast, and rather confusingly with all the noise and lights, but on the other end, both Amadea and Jake were on the ground.
She wasted no time in saying, "Stop!" maybe a bit louder than was necessary for them to hear her. She followed it up by dissipating the storm cloud and putting out the fire caught on Jake's clothes, wasting only a half-second to confirm they were down. She waved medics over, and only then did she turn to the Ravenclaw team. "Ravenclaw wins. Well fought, you three." Their ability to coordinate devastating attacks and keep the other team's threats from being utilized was certainly nothing to sneeze at, Bridget would give them that.
She reached into her pocket for the bag of licorice wands, a little fun idea she'd stolen from Galton, and handed it to whichever Ravenclaw reached out first; she'd let them distribute. As for the other bag, she'd take it up to the Hufflepuffs in a while, once they were feeling moderately less exploded.
A WIN FOR RAVENCLAW!
