<nimbus 1000> <sta 6 | eva 5 | str 6 | wis 7 | arc 6 | acc 5>Ophelia closed her eyes in disappointment. She and her fellow Beater, Leon, had tried to swing their bats together and use their combined strength to take out the opposing team's seeker, Raizel, but it hadn't worked. The Gryffindor had dodged their blow, and Ophelia felt like she had failed. And she didn't like feeling as if she'd failed.
Why did I sign up to be a Beater? I have no strength, no aim, and I can't stomach the thought that others are getting hurt because of me. Yet, even as the thought came to her head, she knew that she couldn't quit. It was in her nature to keep playing and she definitely didn't want to have failed her team.
The Ravenclaw first year shifted her position slightly on the broom, making herself feel more comfortable. She steeled herself for the rest of the game. She'd heard the last announcement that her team had somehow received fifty points, but she didn't know how much total that was. It doesn't matter if we are winning or losing. I have to give this game my all. If her team could keep going, even as their Beaters failed them, then so could she.<action> as team decides<tags> @Leon Richardson | @Raizel Voltrouz

❂《 ⌜ February 10, 2024 ▎ 14:00 ⌟▛▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔This annoying little bugger is harder to catch than she thought it would be. It was fast and can dart in any direction and without focus, it would easily slip out of anyone's view and Raizel can't have that. She needs to focus and keep reaching but that is kind of hard to do when attacks are still coming for you.
These guys sure want her out of this game huh? So bad too but in a Quidditch game, anything to prevent a Seeker from catching that snitch. After all, that'll keep the game going. She was just about to start contemplating her life choices that led to the decision to join this game to please her friends when that bludger came rushing in. It was… maybe out of instinct. Her body moved on its own when she swerved out of the way, grip tightened around her broom. One hit from that and she's dead meat, her body probably knows that as well. Thank Merlin for survival instincts.
She swears from that short moment of avoiding the bludger, she just saw someone fall off from their broom. That could've been her. No, really, that could've been. Just the thought is enough to make her shudder but the girl just needs to bear it and grin, and that she did, just like always. A nervous smile slowly turning into a grin. Her hands would've trembled but with how hard she is gripping her broom, it couldn't. “You're still in this, you're still fine.” She told herself. For how long though? That she doesn't know. It was already a miracle that she is still here and trying to catch the snitch.

Gripping tight to her school broom with both hands and legs, Harmony held on for dear life. Sitting on a broomstick was definitely an interesting feeling, especially with the lack of support on her sides causing it to feel as if she could tumble sideways at any moment. Oh right, she was also at extreme risk of bodily harm. That helped her situation. Now remembering the threat of a fun hospital wing visit, Harmony made herself look up at her surroundings. It was actually quite nice up in the sky, she mused to herself.10 February 2024
Over there, the Chasers and Keepers were valiantly battling over the Quaffle, Seekers were seeking, her opposing Beaters hovered in the distance, and… the bludger was headed her way. Fortunately, no one had aimed to hit it in her direction so the danger ball came at a leisurely speed, but the brief spike of adrenaline had Harmony steeling herself to do something for her team. She might as well take this moment of relative safety to give a good shot at the game, right? Better get in some good tries now rather than later and under the stress of imminent bodily harm.
Harmony took a moment to figure out a way to steady herself on the broom without the use of her hands before taking her massive bat and adjusting her grip. The position she was in actually sort of reminded her of this book cover of a series she used to read when she was younger.
Anyways, back to the task at hand, she quickly scanned the pitch to decide who to target. One of the opposing team’s beaters seemed within her smacking range and hadn’t they also lost one of their First-Strings? If Harmony could take out another Beater, her team would have a slight advantage. That settled it. She raised the bat and took a good swing at the Bludger, aiming for one of the other students holding a bat(and hoping she’d remembered correctly whose team he was on), but he nimbly dodged. Dang everything! She’d done quite an okay job, however, and felt a little pride peek through the numbing fear. Maybe this wouldn’t be that bad after all.

How quickly a team's fortunes can turn. Unfortunately, AngelFyre was the dime's edge on which Team One's (mis)fortunes had turned this round, and to say her efforts did not produce her finest moments would be an understatement. It was not that she had played badly; it was simply that Colin had played AMAZINGLY.
AngelFyre probably should have been embarrassed, or maybe even humiliated, by her performance in the Quaffle grabs, but honestly, she just would not allow it to enter into her thinking. That would only make everything worse and was a luxury she simply did not have time for in the moment. What would be the point, first off, and secondly, a part of her was so much in awe of her friend's speed and agility in the round that she decided to focus on his good fortune rather than her trouncing. And what a trouncing it was!
Each and every time the Quaffle was up for a grab, Woofy was all over it. AngelFyre wondered where this was coming from as he had shown no signs of this kind of talent in the first round, not that she had either. She reached and twisted and turned, but he was just too fast and too accurate. She was cognizant of flashes of white hair bobbing everywhere she looked, not to mention his threatening growls and snarls and grunts as the Quaffle battles ensued. She was also aware of his victorious yips and in-your-face laughs when he clapped his greedy ‘paws’ on it each time and headed off to face off with Simon. While she knew most of it was likely just a natural byproduct of exertion during competition, she knew him well enough to know that some of it was most certainly designed to get in her head and mess with it.
On that score he failed, but it was a rather moot point given the results. To make matters worse, his speed, agility, and technique even overwhelmed Simon for the most part. Simon at least managed to do something AngelFyre had not, and that was that he did thwart Colin at least once at the rings. Way to go, Handsome! Still, her inability to grab the dang Quaffle at the start allowed the bell to clang 4 times for the other team.
50 Points. He scored 50 points off of four goals. She was both proud and mortified at the same time. Surveying the field, it was clear there was more bad news to be internalized. March and Ulysses had been KOB'd, but at least Alyssea was there to save Ulysses. March was going all the way down but AngelFyre knew she was going to be given a soft landing by an opposing player down below and smiled a bit of relief at that. That smile only widened as Ruby was caught dead to rights this time by Koko and was told to fly a penalty lap.
It was good she was out for a round, but her loss in the next round was clearly something they calculated would be acceptable. That meant they were feeling confident.
Something needed to change on Team One and fast, but what that was, was not exactly clear in this moment. Her thoughts turned from those dreary thoughts as Colin flew back towards her. He was clearly puffed with pride and began flying tight circles around her, giving her that fang-y smile of his. She could not help but grin back at him.
“Well done, Woofy. Amazing performance. Truly. That has got to be some kind of Quidditch record. Has to be. Also has to be the result of some prohibited Go! Go! juice or potion you drank to produce that sudden burst of energy, right? I mean, I know you are talented, but THAT talented? Pfffft,” she goaded him while shaking her head back and forth and brushing it all off dismissively in tone. “It counts only as a fluke until replicated, so see you next round, bestie!” and she winked at him, waiting for the barrage of smack talk he was about to carpet bomb her with, in a most jocular fashion, of course.

Lindsey nodded at Cassius’ words, sighing slightly at the brutality commonly regarded by people. Glory might be an explanation, if not on top of everything. “Yeah.” She agreed and couldn’t help but smiling a bit, when Cassius showed his duty as a duelling captain, actively scouting new additions to the team. She then looked up following his remark, watching the players swooping up and down. Everybody seemed to be doing their own job while cooperating at the same time in a way, and Lindsey thought she could get what Cassius was trying to explain - Quidditch, Duelling, or even Broom Racing, the spirits were just as same, and surely one couldn’t be too much of a stranger if they had that determination, tenacity and courage.@Cassius Eden
Though it looked like as if luck came and luck went on the field, for one of the opposite chasers seemed exceptionally skilled this round, continuously grabbing the quaffle and scoring. Nor did their seeker had the snitch in the palm, so that’s it. The game was still on. “Well, it’s okay I guess.” She thought for a moment and finally concluded. “The first stage went really well, but the second…I have to say that you Ravenclaws are such difficult people to duel against.” Recalling her unconsciousness minutes after the whistle was blown and the calamitous defeat of her team which she was told later on, Lindsey grimaced. “Never got any advantage against you birbs.”
One of their own chasers fell, a beater was co-riding with the other, and Lindsey shook some curls back when the team’s second-string chaser kicked off. She wasn’t very sure if she would be needed in the game today, but it seemed that there might be a chance seeing the players started to be swiped out one by one, if the seekers weren’t calling the game to an end soon. “In all likelihood, probably not. Not at the moment, at least.” Captaincy sounded so far away. Although leadership and coordination as well as moderating games sounded just the thing, there were still so much ahead for her and Lindsey thought it might not be the right thing to do for now. Her win-loss rate was fairly low at the moment, for example, and a captain should certainly do better than what she was like now and be a model-like figure. “You know, I have so much to learn - after two years in duelling I still find myself a novice on stage. So no, I think it’s certainly not the time now.” Lindsey chuckled slightly. “But I do believe you are handling it well - so tell me, how’s it like being a captain? Stressful but worth it, I suppose?”

Blast it all!
Her fists clenched harder around the broom handle and her speed picked up as Astra's temper slowly worked itself out of the hold of self-control. It was a miracle she'd been able to keep it this long, but recent happenings and advices from trusted adults in her life pushed her to develop this skill. Still, it had only been a month since she'd started this practice. Under any other circumstances, she would have been proud of herself.
There was nothing for Astra to be proud of though, in her mind. The Snitch remained unfound, lost to her deep blue eyes which slowly welled with intense frustration and disappointment.
Oh God, she was about to cry over a stupid little gold ball with wings.
Her forehead hit the broom and her eyes screwed shut. She gritted her teeth and a noise of frustration escaped her as she threw her head back again. No, no, focus focus.
A sigh. A deep inhale. Another sigh.
Her eyes swept over the pitch, noticing the eldest Chaser knocking Ulysses and company off their broom only for Alyssea to swoop in and save the lad, but not the girl. The Hawk seemed to be on medic-slash-save duty though, and the girl floated like a leaf to the ground.
After this breif respite from searching for gold, Astra took another deep breath and again set her eyes to the clouds, reasoning she must find it this time. Gold couldn't possibly hide in gray for so long, right?actions : team action

Compared to the earlier ones, this round wasn’t nearly as exciting. In Renelle’s perspective, at any rate. Though she supposed it made sense, since all she was allowed to do was fly aimlessly around while the others on the pitch battled it out.
The blonde Chaser on their team was surprisingly good- the opponent never got her hand on the Quaffle even once, Blondie snatching it away so fast she never had a chance. While Team 1’s Keeper managed to block a single goal, the rest went in without a hitch. By the time it was all over, their team had gained no less than 50 points. Woah. That was certainly something! She seriously hoped Blondie never decided to join the Slytherin Quidditch team.
The other players on the pitch weren’t nearly as victorious. Neither of the Seekers had grabbed the snitch, and everyone had somehow become much nimbler, swerving out of the trajectory of all the oncoming Bludgers.
The only thing that really happened was when the sixth year Chaser from earlier managed to pull off a successful blatch, carrying on Renelle’s work from earlier and knocking both Team 1’s beater, as well as one of their Chasers off the broom they shared. The beater had seemed to have been caught by one of his teammates once more, but the other wasn’t nearly as lucky. She was long gone. Man, she was really starting to feel bad for this guy. He simply could not catch a break, could he?

Colin smirked across at AngelFyre in the brief moments before the quaffle was released. She'd scored thrice while he was on blatching duty, and now Colin thought would be a good time for a proper trouncing! As soon as the ball was released, Colin lit into the fray with abandon! If AngelFyre got a grasp on the quaffle, Colin shifted himself to nick it away! They went at it like little kids over a sweet, AngelFyre grunting and Colin snarling! Grrrrr! he'd growl at her or bare his fangs. Anything to mess with her and make her give up the quaffle!
Five times Colin yanked, pulled, pillaged, tore and stole the ball from AngelFyre! She fought valiantly, there was no doubt about that! But this round just wasn't hers. Colin would certainly throw his arm around AngelFyre's shoulder after the game and console her on her team's blistering defeat! But for now, it was the battle of the chasers, and Colin would fight hard with everything he had!
At last with a final shove, Colin yanked the quaffle away from his best mate and shot off towards the goal hoops where her sweetheart awaited. Colin's eyes narrowed, focusing on the hoops as he charged headlong towards the keeper's place! Now it was time to pit himself against the older boy. This wasn't the place for rough and tumble. The goals was the place for tactics and evasions, for darts and feints!
Colin rocketed towards Simon at full speed, only to swerve and make several hard turns. He may not have been very strong, but his throws were all on target! From left and right, above and below he'd charge the keeper and challenge his supremacy at the hoops. Once only was Simon successful against Colin's attacks, and that was a brilliant save, he had to admit! One of his own throws clearly sailed through the hoop by shear luck, but the boy would take it! Most of his throws were quite decent and simply evaded the defense by skill or by distance.
"OWOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"
Colin could scarcely believe the number of times the bell sounded! Five times he charged at Simon, and four times he scored! A whole seventy points! He really hoped Snaps would catch the snitch soon! Colin leaned into his broom and zoomed over her way: "Keep at it Snaps! Ye'll get it soon lass!!" he called out to her before zooming back around to his new formation.
There he found dear AngelFyre waiting! The gleam in her eyes alerted him to a forthcoming round of smack talk, and he was not disappointed! "Gogojuice? Potions? Honestly, Fyre, you make it sound like a Slytherin can't score a point without cheating!" He rolled his eyes at her dismissive hiss. "Anyway, maybe I do have a little talent for quidditch after all!"
He made to fly off, but then drifted back towards the girl. "Remind me, Fyre, to give some of that go juice go to yer boyfriend! After missing four throws on goal, he could use some!" Colin winked at AngelFyre teasingly as he took off towards his position.

He watched the first quaffle grab and was rather surprised at how fast it had been done but readied himself at the rings to make the stop - which he did. It was an impressive block even perhaps but it wouldn’t unfortunately be followed by more of the same. Simon would try to protect the rings, but would fall short in the other attempts in that particular round.
Simon wouldn’t let it get him down though. Quidditch wasn’t his sport, naturally, and he was still relatively new to the game. Plus, maybe keeper wasn’t really his thing. He had enjoyed seeker quite a lot in his last participation in an unofficial game. Trying to look for that wizzing little golden ball was quite the challenge in the skies of the quidditch pitch.
With points on the other team adding up and because of Simon’s lack of being the last line of defense, he took a slow breath and steadied himself. He needed to make sure the last events didn’t affect him and that he was still doing the best he could for his team.
