Ravenclaw vs Hufflepuff: Match 2

Phaedra’s spell went off with incredible power but didn’t quite land. Still, the Ravenclaw’s wand wasn’t done, and as if to compensate for the previous Fulgari, it landed an expert expelliarmus instead. Sniggering, Aida knew that kind of wand behaviour well. Was it that the wand had other ideas in the first place, or what had happened between it and its caster?
"Woooo Phaedra!" Aida bounced with one loose fist thrown into the air. "Show them your power!"
Turning to Delilah, Aida wondered if the other student had been left in a state of shock by Phaedra’s display. Whatever had happened, Aida still had work to do and shot a decent incendio at Jake. It lacked the pizzazz of the older Ravenclaw’s spellcast, but it landed well enough. Neither had to be perfect, and their team continued to maintain their lead.
"Teach me some stuff after class, please, Phaedra! You’re so cool."

Amadea couldn't catch a break! Struggling against the bonds that held her down, she finally felt the vines give, breaking as she forced her strength against them. Finally free, she felt as though she could contribute to the team again. Unfortunately, spells were still flying toward her. While she was able to miss the first one, the second one squarely hit her and her wand was suddenly flying away from her. Amadea wanted to pause the world for a minute and catch up with everyone, but unfortunately, that was not what happened in a duel. Trying to shoot an apologetic look toward Jake, she tried to figure out how to regroup from here.

Ravenclaw vs Hufflepuff: Match 2
"Ow, ow, ow..." Jake hissed, as his robes lit on fire. He felt a spark of panic as he tried to shake off the flames and the burning. It hurt, though it wasn't the worst he'd felt in the dueling chamber. It was gonna get worse though if he wasn't careful...the flames may have been small now, but they could grow. The Hufflepuff shot a glance at his duelling partner Amadea, who was struggling against her bindings. Though she managed to get free, he heard her wand clatter to the floor. She was ALMOST back in the fight....but until then he had to hold off the Ravenclaws by himself, while still trying not to panic from the flames. A tall order, but he had no choice but to try. If he could just last a little longer...long enough for Amadea to get back in the fight...
He held his wand tighter, and eyed all his opponents, fighting off the pain and watching with shaky determination.

Ravenclaw vs Hufflepuff: Match 2
A miss and a hit of a knockback jinx went her way, she wasn't particularly pleased about the hit but it could definitely be worse. Delilah had taken harder hits before, she was still standing, she would be fine. Last round Del had been a bit distracted by Phaedra's wand, casting an extra spell out of nowhere, she kind of wished she could do that but she imagined it could be inconvenient at times.

Ravenclaw vs Hufflepuff: Match 2
The last time her wand acted out, it cast an ultimately useless Extinguo towards the heels of an opponent. Phaedra could vaguely remember lecturing it right then and there with little regard to how disturbed she seemed. But that was then. Now Phaedra stood with great purpose, chin high with an air of superiority. She hadn't meant to disarm the other witch, but played the part with an effortless roll of her wrist, loosening the joints there. Her wand handle felt hot as it so often did at the peak of their combined power, and Phaedra gripped it tighter, silently thankful for its cooperation. “Believe me. I know.”Doing as strategized (x)

28th January 2024 - Morning
Hufflepuff was scrambling. In a position like this, how could there not be a little bit of desperation? They needed to pull multiple things off to even be in a position to fight back, and they even almost did it. Through the blinding pain of being aflame after multiple hard hits, Jake mustered a Protego, a perfectly timed shield because it caught exactly what it needed to. Phaedra's intent was spelled out in explosive terms, but no harm would come to him through the magical protection. For those watching Phaedra carefully, they might be impressed to see a second spell spit out yet again, even if it didn't aid her this time. The seventh year witch was clearly wielding a lot of magical potential.
Amadea located and reached for her wand, the piece her team needed to fight back, but therein lay the snag: Aida and a blindfold. With impeccable timing, the wix fired off the fabric that would cost Amadea even more time. At this point, it might be hard not to get at least a bit frustrated.
In the midst of the action, Delilah raised her wand again to cast some healing. No one on the Ravenclaw side was in too bad of a spot, but she'd taken the most damage so far, so it was a smart move: while they were ahead, make sure that numbers advantage was fully secure, and then attack as a whole unit.

Ravenclaw vs Hufflepuff: Match 2

Jake’s condition was growing worse each round, and Aida squinted. How was he even still standing at this point? Even though Phaedra’s extra spell dissipated against Jake’s Protego, Aida smirked at the witch’s wand being such an ambitious participant in the match.
"Wow, tell me how to make such a nice bond with your wand like that. Yours seems so motivated!" The white wix chuckled. "Let’s finish this so we can talk more comfortably."
Aida’s blindfolding spell struck true, and Amadea’s continuous string of shutdowns seemed at once both comical and tragic to the Ravenclaw. It wasn’t as if Aida hadn’t been in similar situations before, and it surely felt bad when one frustration after another continued to pile up...

Gotta love healing, who would have thought a few years ago that Del could cast a singular spell and immediately feel way better than she did seconds before. It would have been an absolutely fantastical concept to 10 year old Delilah. Yet this was her life now, she didn't even think twice about the spells she now casts on a regular basis.

Ravenclaw vs Hufflepuff: Match 2
Jake struggled to stay on his feet. The fire had gone out... he breathed a massive sigh of relief at THAT. But his desperate shield charm could only keep him in the game for so long. He didn't want to give up, not when his team needed him. But he was struggling. They were one player down, and Amadea, their oldest duellist, couldn't get into the game. Now it was a blindfold that had taken her, just as she finally found her wand. Rats....Jake's face twitched as he tried to assess the situation and find some way to turn this around. But he couldn't defend himself forever, and he couldn't bring down three people at once! (Probably somebody like Dmitri would be able to do that, but Jake had never been able to even make his spells split!). Trying to chip down his opponents felt a lot like trying to chop down a tree with a pencil, but it was all he could do...just keep trying

Morris looked as if he'd soon collapse. Out of all the lesser-impact spells, direct Confringos often fell under "overkill," but Phaedra had enough experience to know that had it been her in his place, Hufflepuff wouldn't have been so merciful either. He may have been safe for now behind his shield, but the storm cloud above him still rumbled ominously. Drawing back her dominant hand to continue, a simpering grin pulled on Phaedra's features, head newly filled with a grand, electrifying idea of her own.Doing as strategized (x)
