Pericles' Silver Arrow was one of his prized possessions, and it had been all too long since he'd had an excuse to use it. He arrived with it slung over a shoulder. Its varnish reflected a silvery sheen, even in the low light of the overcast day, contrasting with his rich cobalt tail. It lacked the battlescars of a Quidditch broom, sleek and lovingly cared for. He was dressed warmly, and unsurprisingly, head to toe in black. An old set of goggles had been dug out of his trunk, meant to stop the icy wind from tearing his eyes and clouding his vision. A pair of dragonhide gloves would work well to keep his fingers from freezing. They needed to be nimble if he wound up in the game proper.

The Ravenclaw scanned the faces of those present for a sign of someone familiar. Trying to catch the eye of @Koko Riddle already up in the air, he'd raise an arm high, waving with an appreciative smirk. He thought it excellent of the co-captain to take time out of her busy schedule in order to give non-players a chance to, well, play. As their team started to assemble, he recognized @Astra Norrick from the disastrous Fall Ball, specifically trying to talk her down from winding up just as afraid of the Hospital Wing as one unfortunate Gryffindor. That was the last memory he wanted to dredge up on a fun day like today. "First string, right?" The second-string Seeker said instead, offering what he hoped was a reassurance: "Quidditch can be brutal, but if they take you out of the game, they'll have to deal with a fifth-year instead. They'll think twice about blatching you." That was reassuring, right? His relaxed smile suggested that he seemed to think so.

But then, most familiarly of all, arrived @Ruby Cazares. And she was gathering with his team. The realization saw the lethargic lad light up, riled right out of his sleepy state with a bright, focused stare. He closed the gap between them and held out a hand, meaning to give hers a quick squeeze. "Ruby." It was just her name, yet the way he emphasized it, grinning and glowing, said the rest. He was immensely thrilled to be teamed with an old friend, let alone see her out and about again. Satisfied, Pericles turned to the team at large, calling pleasantly: "Best of luck, everyone. Let's endeavor to keep our limbs intact." Luring a white wand from his sleeve, the wizard would lurk on the sidelines, eyes on the skies.

𝓣here was a secret cardinal rule of Hogwarts that Bex had discovered over these past few months, which is that, should you see a strange flyer pinned up somewhere around the school, you should absolutely sign up for whatever it's advertising, no questions asked. So far she'd gotten to do broom racing, lifeguarding, and now pick-up Quidditch as a result of handmade student flyers, and had yet to regret a single one of these ventures. At this point you could probably convince her to join your cult with little push-back, should you have a nice enough flyer for your distinguished organization.

It was windy, soggy, and miserable outside today, but there was no place Bex would rather be than out on the pitch; even though her socks had gotten wet, and it had ruined her entire day, if not her entire life. Also, she was awfully cold, as she had made the hard decision of speed over warm, heavy layers and was paying a heavy price for it. But still, Quidditch! Sacrifices could and would be made for her favorite sport.

Not only had she dragged Raizel and Alyssea with her to this little pick-up Quidditch match, but they'd also lucked out and been put on the same team, so literally everything was coming up Rebecca today. She hadn't yet convinced the two of them to abandon duelling for the warm embrace of Quidditch, but she liked to think that she was slowly but surely wearing them down.

While she didn't recognize anyone else on her team outside of her two favorite duellists, the other beater she'd been paired with certainly seemed promising. He looked almost ferally delighted to be here, an emotion that Bex both respected and reciprocated, and additionally he seemed to be friends with Raizel as well, which was a massive point in his favor. His energy was certainly infectious, and Bex found herself eager to take to the sky and show the other team what they could do. Casper, ever the enabler, felt like it was practically ready to leap out of her hand and take to the pitch with or without it's rider. Grinning furiously, Bex acquiesced to her broom's demands and took to the sky, joining her fellow teammates in the air.

Renelle was getting accustomed to getting onto the Quidditch pitch, but not to actually playing in the game. As a second-string Keeper, the ugly truth was that the majority of her time was spent sitting on a bench, staring into the sunset as her teammates dropped like flies around her.

Not this time. Walking out into the familiar space, she couldn’t help but smirk a little. When she’d seen the flyers for an unofficial game, signing up hadn’t been a difficult decision. Finally, she would actually get to fly in Quidditch. Very exciting.

Chaser was the position the first year had initially wanted, but had settled for Keeper when the opportunity presented itself. The three Ravenclaw Chasers were all experienced and, from what she’d observed, ridiculously good.

There was simply no way she could compare, and she could live with that. She wanted the best for her house, after all. But this was her chance to play in her desired position without utterly failing the Eagles. She was pumped!

The moderator for the game was an upper year, whom Renelle vaguely recognized as an official Slytherin Quidditch player and Prefect. The magically amplified voice made her head hurt.

Her teammates were a mix of old and new faces. To her delight, the Seeker was none other than her very own Lady Star, AKA the charming Astra Norrick. Her best friend, though not that much lately. She frowned. In fact, the girl was pretty sure the only other time she’d interacted with Astra in the last few months had been at another unofficial broom race, when they’d been on the same team as well. A funny coincidence, though she was a bit less appreciative of the humour than normal.

Shaking herself from her less than pleasant thoughts, she looked around the her other teammates. As for the rest… She had no idea. Huh, maybe not so much of a mix after all.

A lot had been going on for AngelFyre this day. Much more than expected, really, and she was not entirely sure that she had it all handled at this point. The answer would have to remain a mystery until the Quidditch match was over, however. Simon had seen one of the flyers outside of the Great Hall for this pick up game, and he was just so excited about flying and playing with her that she could not say no. The timing was an unfortunate wrinkle, but she had to admit... it did sound awfully fun.

As she approached the pitch, she actually felt pretty good about life these days. She had just been notified a day or so prior that the Broom Racing teams had all undergone an expansion, which meant her name had been taken off of the wait list and placed squarely onto the Hufflepuff's team roster. She was beside herself with joy, anticipation, and a little nervousness... the perfect ingredients for success. Well almost. One vital ingredient was missing and she snickered a little as she raised her school broom and twirled it a couple of times like she had seen some U.S. Marines do in drills. Nicely done, AF! Drum majorette could always be a fallback career if this magic gig just did not pan out she supposed.

Back to the pressing matter at hand. She had been saving up and wanted to get her own Silver Arrow like Simon's. Maybe a run to Hogsmeade after the game was over was in order, assuming she did not get KOB, and you know, die. How dreadfully inconvenient that would be... especially today. She could possibly send away for her Silver Arrow as early as tonight from the Post Office. She smiled and figured that was a plan.

At the pitch, she saw Koko hovering, but it did not look like everyone was there yet. Who was present, however, was Simon and she made her way over to him immediately. She was dressed head to toe in black, and was especially loving the faux leather and faux fur lined bomber jacket and gloves. Warmth and water repellency all in one. Perfect for today's damp weather.

Grinning at him from ear to ear, she just pecked his cheek by way of greeting. She was about to deliver a line to him which she had been about to burst from holding in for the past couple of days, but he stunned her with the gift of a Silver Arrow. At first she thought he was offering her his, but no. He had gotten this one for her. She set her school broom down, leaning it against her thigh, and took his gift in hand. The school broom was okay, but this was a real racer's broom. Simon, I -- just wow! Thank you, love." She let her eyes move to the handle and she smiled. He had put a compass on it as well.

"You are too good to me. I promise I will fly safe, love, but mostly I hope to fly high and fast, kinda like my Broom Racer extraordinaire. It must be that Grandma-Ruth-aviatrix-gene in me," and she laughed. Then looking to him one more time she reached for his hand and squeezed it three times. "I have been dying to say this to you for two full days now, but now it definitely means even more in this moment. Her lips and eyes could not belie the pleasure she was feeling as she delivered, with tremendous relief, her obvious one liner to him.

"On this auspicious day, it is even more clear to me that you, Simon Ezra Kincaid, really ARE a Keeper," and her merry laughter at her own obvious pun made her feel more like her old self. Simon's feigned, stoic-like expression quickly cracked when he rolled his eyes as an (appreciative?) groan escaped his full, delectable lips. The whole silly exchange took her even farther along the path to wholeness and healing. Yeah, he looked at her like she was a nut, but she was his nut. "You have NO idea how hard it has been to keep that to myself until now," and she winked at him, still holding his hand as they turned their attention to hear Koko's introduction.

Her very loud introduction.

Once they had been advised of the rules and expectations, the two needed to part. Three more squeezes of their hands and they were off to fly in their first ever match together. She had despaired such a time would ever come. She was walking over to the bench to leave her school broom there when she overheard Simon encouraging the team. She turned just in time to see him push off and take his position in front of the hoops. Have a blast, Handsome, and you fly safe, too, she uttered to no one but herself.

AngelFyre then quickly glanced at those sitting on the bench and smiled at the young Gryffindor in particular. "Be ready. I could be out just as quickly as I get in," and she winked at him before turning and moving back to the pitch. It was true. She had no idea what to expect, and that was probably a blessing.

Rubbing the good luck badger pin Simon had given her for her 12th birthday, AngelFyre pushed off a bit more tentatively than usual to get the feel of her new broom before moving into position. "Battle station ready," she whispered to herself and smiled at her fellow Chasers before getting her game face on.

Okay, so maybe Leon might be in over his head on this, but does that matter? He surely hopes not. He figured with his more brute type of strength that he would be best for being a beater. Maybe send a bludger or two into the atmosphere. Heck, those things can do some major damage, he wonders if he can do some crazy things with them?

And whilst he is one to be mischievous, right now he is a tad bit nervous. And, also because of his metamorphmagus powers, since he isn't thinking like with a roguish behavior, his own hair took to what his true emotions are. It would turn gray to show his nervousness on the matter, even though his face seemed indifferent. Only people who either know him, or can truly read people would be able to tell how he is feeling. Either way, he would wait patiently as of right now he is just benched and waiting for his team to send him out.

Alone in his own thoughts, he had caught a small bit of gray hair in his vision as some of his hair is within his vision. Scowling to himself, he thought of ways to be a menace out on the quidditch pitch. Doing so made his hair turn back to normal.

Ah, Quidditch. It had been quite a while since Lindsey last got to experience the feeling of carefree flying and tense atmosphere on field, when decided to switch to duelling after her return to Hogwarts. Indeed, having a close eye over the Quidditch games and star players were still quite a habit (that’s how she bonded with Haley, by the way), but playing was distant. In the first few weeks after that Quidditch match, Lindsey was continuously tortured by the recall of he scene - she, a beater who was adept at defending, went motionless and did nothing when that iron bludger was smacked to their seeker, and all was over. They were close to a winning. And because of her, all was over.

It’s fair to say that Lindsey didn’t know if she could possibly smack the bludger away if she was really paying attention either, since it was already during the later stages of the game and she was exhausted. However, there would be a chance, and instead she cut the possibility of victory down to zero. After that she kept herself away from Quidditch, and especially away from the beater role. Yet three years had passed, and when she saw the flyers of an unofficial game held by Riddle (whom Lindsey had a faint recollection of her being a great keeper for Slytherin and an opponent difficult to deal with), she thought maybe it’s time to make a change.

There was a second thought when she picked her role. Second-strings would be good enough for her, as Lindsey really wasn’t sure if she could spring back to action immediately after all these years. And keeper would be a nice position to try out, something she had never thought of before (and which her father used to play as, so Lindsey regarded it as a great choice). Taking her new Moontrimmer broom with her - she used to have a great Silver Arrow by the way - and strolling down to the Quidditch Training Pitch, Lindsey could feel the anxiety and excitement deep in her heart. After all these years - oh. What an experience.

Getting herself situated on the bench, Lindsey naturally looked around. Most players were younger year students and new faces whom Lindsey really wasn’t acquainted with but there was someone calling her own name and actively trying to catch her attention. She turned and Cassius Eden’s smiling face fell into her eyes. “Oh hey, Cassius, what a pleasure. Hope you are doing well these days?” She smiled back, and moved closer to her train buddy and fellow duellist. It seemed that Cassius was also playing second-string for some position on their team - Lindsey hadn’t really paid attention to other signups - but a great come-across indeed. She grinned. “Looks like we are on the same side. You are playing second-string for…? I’m for keeper. It’s a brand new position for me.” She explained. And when Cassius asked about Napoleon, Lindsey’s smile went even wider - it was really sympathetic of him to still think of her furry companion. “Napoleon’s doing very well - probably wandering somewhere in the castle and harassing other creatures now I think - and I’ll definitely convey your kind message to him.”

The game would soon kick off. Lindsey raised up her eyes and gazed at the players high up in the air. How they fly. How time flies.

To say I was nervous would be a understatement. I had just barely survived my broom race a few days ago and I had another quidditch match. This time though there were no surprises no sudden issue just a normal match. I was on the bench for this one. I'm not complaining at all. I just wanted see how things worked before I played. I had learned enough to know the basics. 2 quaffles 2 bludgers and 1 snitch. I had signed up to be a chaser. Hitting rogue magical balls at someone wasn't my idea of fun, nor was hanging around the goalposts to save a shot. I wanted to be able to score. That why I signed up for chaser.

I trudged over to the training pitch. In my opinion I had a decent broom but it was nothing compared to what the older years had. Fortunately I didn't have the worst broom. I saw some first years using the school brooms. I felt bad for them because those were going to get eaten alive by what the older years had. I took my position on the bench. One of my fellow chasers smiled at me and said "Be ready. I could be out just as quickly as I get in,"
"Don't say that, I think you'll do great" I replied and smiled warmly at her. The weather was overcast and a bit damp from the drizzle from earlier. Lets hope for good weather today.
"Come on guys, lets win this!"

What a wonderful day for Quidditch. Astra had signed up for this almost the moment she saw that flyer go up. Hosted by the illustrious @Koko Riddle, this pick-up Quidditch game was sure to be fun.

Familiar names on the sign up list were @Alyssea Brown (whose trusty Comet 180, Cyrus, was carrying Astra through yet another event) and @Raizel Voltrouz, familial as well as friendly relations, @Renelle Dalton best friend extraordinaire, and @Ulysses Drake, someone the first year had interacted with once, briefly, but he seemed like a nice chap.

When she got to the training pitch, Cyrus in hand, she noticed a few familiar faces, ones she either did not know or did not remember. Faces such as Anti-Sabotager @ Rebecca Lark, beater for the opposing team, and the Hawk, second-string seeker for her own.

The Hawk @Pericles Dralt approached her with a few words of encouragement and advice. "Let's hope so," she remarked, thinking that perhaps Anti may choose to ignore such strategies and cannonball her out of the sky anyway. It wasn't a pleasant thought, so she didn't dwell on it.

Astra mounted her broom quickly, floating a few inches above the ground before zooming up into position. Cyrus was familiar to her, responsive to her commands, and she knew he wouldn't fail. She only hoped no bludger would come her way, and that he'd be safe if ever one did.

As Astra flew to her position, she stopped beside Renelle. "Wanna see if we can wrangle up some butterbeer after we win?" she whispered teasingly before continuing on. Her studies had gotten so busy lately, and really the holidays had been insane, and over their time back at good old Hogwarts, the two friends seemed to have less and less contact. That didn't mean Astra was avoiding Renelle, and the snake certainly didn't believe Renelle was avoiding her, but they needed to plan something fun to do.

Astra settled into her position, seeing that Raizel was seeking for the other team. This would be great fun, and maybe hopefully she could win this thing. Going for the gold. Yeah. That's the ticket.

March walked down to the quidditch pitch, her excitment grew as she made it closer, and closer. She'd never really played quidditch on a quidditch pitch, with a team. But, March loved playing quidditch with her family, or neighbors. She held a school broom in hand as she made it over to the orginizer, Koko Riddle, as she explained some information. March had only really played on her family's broom, whitch wasn't too fast. She had the position of the first-string chaser, she suposed she was okay at quidditch, not bad and not good, she'd try her best. Chaser was a pretty good position, she really didn't want to mess up. Chaser's were the people who scored goals and intercepted, she supposed for her, that would be alot of responsibility, but come to think of it, all the roles were crazy important.

When Koko was done with the insructions, she got ready and flew up into the air. Her flying was okay, she'd definatly not want to fall of her broom from such a high point. Hopefully, she'd still be alive by the end of the game. She saw one of her fellow chaser's smile at her, how nice! she thought. She smilled back. Well, March didn't really have a chance against probably a lot of the player's, they'd probably been playing for a long of time, while she'd never played other then small games and practices. It's about having fun, not winning. she reminded herself. But, winning wouldn't hurt!

Colin was absolutely hyped for the day! Koko and Ruby had thrown together a proper unofficial quidditch match for today and he had signed up for chaser! He'd already seen the roster. It looked like most of his team were Slytherins. Of course, @Renelle Dalton would have to be on his team! Colin rolled his eyes. The troublesome Ravenbeak. He shook his head briefly. Never mind that! She was on the team, and a fellow chaser! The only thing that mattered was whether or not she could fly and play.

Colin thought back to the quidditch game he had played with Clair. Now, that girl was amazing! She had literally grabbed all three quaffles and scored each time she tried! Colin was so proud of her. If her fellow Ravenclaw were even half as good, the team would be fine today. Colin got himself all dressed up and checked Vailerama's bristles and shaft one last time. She seemed ready to fly into glory with him today!

"OWOOOOOOOooooOOOOoooOoo!!!" Colin howled joyously as his feet pounded out of the dressing room and into the pitch itself! Sure it was just the training pitch, but it was still pretty impressive! Probably the quidditch captains didn't want mere broom racers and other amateurs spoiling their properly manicured pitch.

Colin leapt onto his broom and zoomed at full speed up towards where the players were gathering. He waved to any friends he saw up there, but really, his keen eyes were searching for only one thing at this moment. And that, of course, was the beaming smile and gorgeous blue eyes of his own sweetheart, Clair Fernandez!
