2023/24, Stage 1 Ravenclaw vs Slytherin: Match 7

That is surely an interesting round. Nothing happened. Other than Avery bravely moving the clouds from their heads to the bird's side. All of our spell pretty much wind up unto oblivion. Although, a lot of spell are directed unto Leveret, his quick feet thankfully able to evade all of the incoming attacks. She did notice this time around, Langstreth certainly looks a little distracted when he casted that spell unto Avery. She wonders if it was because of the part-Veela. It would not be surprising as that does happened a lot. The white haired flicked her hair.

Her spell also manages to be dodged easily by Salwis the Ravenclaw girl. Rolling her eyes, she began to think of her next moves.

Nothing happened in this round. It felt like there was something wrong with the magic that day. He wondered if it had a correlation with the stars or something. He thought that until he saw the cloud that he made earlier was blown by the wind from the Slytherin boy. Zach winced his eyes toward the boy. He was already weak but now he had to feel the tension of fear to get struck by the lightning. His own lightning technically. I have to get it right this time. The boy tried his best to last on the piste with his remaining energy.

Again, a round full of failure. Zack had try to aim for Mahlioz, however, it went totally wrong and his spell ended up near Avery. Bea seemed to totally fail her spell and nothing happened, just like last round. Despite her efforts, Samnatha's own spell also missed. The only thing that really happened was that the cloud was blown over to their side. This wasn't looking too good for them at all, much to her dislike

Bea felt something inside of her break. They'd gone over the halfway point and she hadn't cast a proper spell or hit anyone. She may have just worn a sign to this duel that said "Incompetent caster. Hit me for all you're worth." This was a joke. She felt flopping on the floor and crying. ow had she com from a high of winning her last two duels to this?! At least her teammates were still in. That was a positive, she mused.

The rounds were slowly ticking away, small victories the highlight of this duel as the same main targets emerged.

Mahlioz and Avery knew wands would point their way. It's why they wouldn't bring their own up, instead training their eye on the opponent's next move in hopes of being more unpredictable themselves and evading any spells headed their way. The predictions weren't wrong as Beatrice and Zach both aimed towards Mahlioz with Samantha aiming towards Avery, all preparing the same Knockback Jinx to hopefully knock the Slytherins out of the competition. Unfortunately for the Ravenclaws, Beatrice's luck wouldn't be changing anytime soon and Zach couldn't hit without Mahlioz at least attempting to trade blows. Mahlioz, even without her whistling wand, was prepared as she expertly weaved between the two spells, neither finding purchase.

Samantha would have better luck than her teammates as she looked towards Avery, her dislike turning into some determination as the spell flew across the field. While he saw it, it seemed as though he had been overconfident or hadn't realized the speed of the spell as the Slytherin moved too late and still felt the heavy blow graze past his arm. Still a punch, yet not nearly as bad as it could have been. Yet another person to wonder how they were stilling standing, Lea's eyes mainly glancing between the second years as they all looked on their last legs.

Speaking of second years, Pea would also choose to target the Ravenclaw second year, hoping to catch him aflame with an Incendio Duo (although Lea suspected the flame wouldn't do much if he was already unconscious). However it seemed she had underestimated her opponent as Zach just barely managed to duck out of the way to safety from the flames that soared past.

The lightning crashed above, an ominous and looming shadow overhead despite having yet to hit anyone. This round would be no different as the rumble echoed out and back against the walls of the Duelling Room, more of a warning than anything else. Three more rounds left to make a move...

Zach clucked his tongue in frustration. His target dodged the Flipendo from Bea and him. Annoying, he thought in his weak state. However, his exasperation changed after he saw Sam's flipendo hit the Slytherin boy. Zach smirked after seeing that. He also could evade the flame that fly towards him. It was like a hope. After all, we can't count our chickens before they hatch.

	----- They were seemingly correct about the opposing sides' strategy, it seemed. Once again, Avery and Mahlioz were the targets. It was all too predictable really, but they hadn’t the mind to change things up. He simply hoped that Mahlioz would keep up, especially when he thought back to the summer duel; how Duvessa froze in place for the entirety. Mahlioz was doing much better, but part of him forced his gaze over to ensure she’d be prepared to dodge the next spell heading her way. His second guessing was his downfall, as he noticed Samantha slinging a spell at him all too late; jolting to the side bit still being struck. Avery let out a nasty hiss of pain, sucking in a breath over gritted teeth as he came to terms with the idea that he wouldn’t last another couple of hits like that as he pushed himself to his feet. Fingers flexed on his wand, as he thought to end this nightmare once and for all as his eyes trained on Sam…

Bea stomped her foot in frustration. What was the point of having magic if it wouldn't do what you wanted. Another round gone with her hitting
target. Was she going to hit anything in this duel? Maybe she needed to get her eyes tested after this? Surely no one had gone an entire duel surviving without hitting anything?

Leveret and Evethisawe had both dodged the attacks, and seemingly won out on luck. Avery, thankfully had dodged a little late and Sams flipendo hit, albeit less powerful. And Zach had stayed conscious. Her eyes strayed to her younger partner. He looked to be barely standing upright. Another hit and he would be gone... Bea gripped her wand tightly, willing all her frustration into the inane piece of wood as she could. She just wanted to hit. Just once in this duel.

Though this was Mahlioz's first duel, she'd already started to get the hang of the fact that everyone seemed to like targetting her. So of course, she did the obvious thing: dodging. And she'd guessed right - two knockback jinxes came flying at her, and neither of them hit her. Grinning, she looked at her teammates, but it unfortunately seemed they had not been so lucky.

Pea had tried to get the youngest Raven (well, maybe they were just as predictable as the others), who was somehow still standing, but she'd missed. And Avery seemed to have been hit by something. Mahlioz winced in sympathy. Well, at least none of them were knocked out yet. Would that last? Only time would tell.
