Finally things were beginning to change. It wasn't that it had been all that awful so far, but the Snakes had gotten injured a couple of times and the Ravens had been fine so far. But finally - finally - a spell hit.
And not just one, either. Pea managed to get her Ventus to hit Zach, which was great, but one of the Ravenclaws' spells also backfired, hurting themselves instead of who they were aiming at. Which was probably Mahlioz herself, annoyingly. She understood going for the youngest was a smart move, but it was starting to get on her nerves.

But the way the duel was going was rather cheering her up. Avery used the round to dodge, and this time he didn't get hit with fire, which meant Mahlioz had plenty of time to put out his flames. Things were going decently well. She wasn't sure whether she should allow herself to hope, but with a round this good, who wouldn't?

The tides did turn, the spell hit and backfire of the previous round seeming to spur the Slytherins on as they continued their attack against Ravenclaw.

The first up were Zach and Mahlioz, typical targets of this duel, now facing off against each other. They would both go for the Knockback Jinx with the intention of getting a strong hit in- despite casting at the same time, neither backed down nor lost their focus as both spells launched from their wands simultaneously and rushed across the block. The attention that they had given casting reflected in their dodging, though, as both failed to move out of the way in time and got hit with the full force of the attack. Both looked to be growing weak although Zach would soon face another.

Pea also had her focus trained on Zach- with the successful cast from the previous round under her belt, her wand bent to her will once more to unleash the Fire-Making Spell in the Ravenclaw's direction. Despite his best attempts, between the attention towards Mahlioz and the wind restricting his movement, he stood no chance at getting out of the way and would feel the full brunt of this spell too as his garments caught aflame and burned at his skin. He was still standing although Lea wondered how much longer that would be the case considering his current state.

Another side 1 v 1 occurred as well, although this one to more mixed results. Avery and Samantha would turn their attention to each other from opposite sides of the block, Samantha hoping to knockback or knock out the Slytherin as he looked to impede her movement. It would be the younger student that lined up his chance first and fired, the gusts of wind battering the fourth year and misdirecting her aim towards fellow teammate Beatrice. Beatrice, the one also currently working on a spell to hit Mahlioz, that would have to loose the spell too soon in order to not get hit with Sam's blown away Flipendo. While close, Mahlioz managed to keep clear of Beatrice's fire spell. It seemed as though Ravenclaw's frustration might have cost them as the round came to an end and the next one began.

Samantha was much older, and she had plenty more spells under her belt and thus she was the biggest threat to the team. Seamlessly, he and his team managed to work off of each other, nothing seemed a wasted action, least of all the blast of wind he sent to Sam, knocking her aim off and then disturbing Bea’s own casting. “Shame that…” he gave as his confidence returned, flashing a devilish grin across to the blues. The snake could smell blood, and this duel was on a knife’s edge…

Mahlioz couldn't pay much attention to the next round, because she'd been hit again, by the exact same spell she'd sent. In fact, she wasn't even sure whether it was her own spell that had backfired or someone else's that had hit. She assumed it was the latter, though because once she'd regained her senses from that awful knockback jinx, she found that one of the Ravens had just gone through the same thing.

She glanced around at her teammates. Apparently other people had been aiming for her, but she'd been able to dodge while trying to recover from the flipendo. Apart from that, she had pretty much no idea what had been happening, but from the grin on Avery's face, she could tell it was good.
That was great news. Now they had to make it last.

Cursed. The voice in her head repeated as her spell missed her target. And not even by a little bit. Instead of the younger duelist from Slyterin she had aimed at, her spell flew towards her own teammate and friend, Beatrice. "I am sorry!" she yelled apologetic even though the spell had missed the younger dueling captain.

At least Zach hit his target. But the poor guy was hit by even more spells. Samantha was wondering how long her teammate would be able to stay on his feet. Why was this whole thing going so badly? This was horrible.

It surely looks like the luck of the Ravens have maxed out. Because that was a fantastic round for the snakes. All of their spell manage to perfectly hit their opponent although the duel was stacked against the them. Her fire struck the boy fiercely and manage to burn part of his robe. She has been in that position before, and she has to say, she would not want to be in that position again. But miss Evethisawe spell also aimed and hit the Ravenclaw. It sure looks like the boy is going to faint any time soon. A grin passed Pea’s arrogant face, but she quickly refocused.

Being hit by Flipendo and Incendio Duo, the boy couldn't feel his body for some moment until the feeling of pain began to spread throughout his entire body. He cried. Tears fell down, flowing like a drop of rain on the window. The result was horrible, it was cursed. It seemed he couldn't stand it any longer and would collapse any time. However, giving up was not the answer. He tried to stand up. He shouldn't feel weak. The boy gripped his wand tightly and was ready for the next action. Hope he could see a better result.

A new target had been chosen- this time most attention from the Slytherins was directed towards the oldest Ravenclaw now trapped by the gusts of wind that blew her back. Both Avery and Pea would aim their wands in Samantha's direction, able to time their casts of the Wind Jinx and Disarming Spell respectively with the limited mobility to force one of the spells to hit. Expelliarmus, although a strong cast, would be the one to fly past her shoulder and away while Samantha's wand still remained in her hand. The wind seemed to like her though as Avery reinvigorated the gust, unable to escape the blast of air quite yet.

Samantha would attempt to enact some revenge on Pea with a Wind Jinx of her own but much like Pea's spell, it would find no purchase as the Slytherin expertly kept her distance. The others seemed to have no direct target. Mahlioz, a little way it seemed after the last strike, would keep a watchful eye for any spells headed her direction- yet none came. Beatrice seemed a little preoccupied, almost working up a spell cast before falling short for something, Lea wasn't quite sure what. Zach also wouldn't turn their attention towards Mahlioz directly, rather looking up at the space above the Slytherins to cast Meteleojinx and form an angry grey cloud that flashed with sparks of electricity. Its rumble echoed out, announcing its ominous presence before three strikes arced towards the ground with a loud crash. The only target found was the ground, none of the Slytherins hit as the storm quieted for the time being. Zach, after casting the spell and choosing to ignore the flame that now died out, looked significantly worse for wear yet still standing. Not yet any reason to halt the duel, the Hufflepuff simply nodded and kept quiet as the match continued.
