For a broom racer, Wyatt didn’t understand broom racing very well. It was hard to compare it to any sport, even muggle racing because in that, you couldn’t throw things at people and there weren’t lions or something on the track every so often. The only thing it had in common with quidditch was the brooms, and dueling, the spells. But it was truly its own animal. Anyway, Wyatt thought he was doing fine in this race so far. That is to say he hadn’t lost any blood yet. Knock on wood.

There were mistakes in the obstacle rolls where the 10% auto-miss from Terrible Presence should not have taken effect in obstacles. The Gryffindor Team's racer, Fang Hui-Ying, was affected by this error. As a result, a re-roll and re-calculation were performed.

Colin watched as a perfectly formed, 3XL bandana whipped off the end of his wand and flew straight and true towards Hugh Lowe. Not that he'd be able to see much of it as it wrapped itself around the half giant's head, but it was really quite lovely! Dark green with silver trim and serpents intertwined around three ravens in the middle!

Colin felt the proudest he'd ever felt during a race! Win or lose, at least he had solid evidence that he didn't actually suck at racing!

She should know already that karma in broom racing tends to painfully reply real quick. But what happened next couldn't have been worse than it was. You know that moment when the whole world turns against you and the simplest thing seems to transfigure to ensure you fail? That's exactly what happened with the young Geyffindor.

Darkness surrounded her when the little sources of light got extinguished by Castle’s spell. It had been necessary to save Xai from the boggart that had been chasing her, but now, Ying was barely able to see a thing in front of her. Not even tall, big trees! She just found their existence in the most painful way…by bumping into them, gaining more small cuts and bruises. She cursed in her mind for her lack of experience, taking a mental note that she would train far more for the next race.

But her brief moment of hot temperament was washed away in less then a second, because next time she was able to see a trace of something ahead of her…she saw something… not something, someone, that made her blood run cold. Someone she was not expecting to see in those grounds. Someone, she prayed would never found out about her love for broom racing.

Those dark eyes, rarely show a sentiment. Typically, they were empty of any drop of emotion and filled with darkness and emptiness. But Ying knew that look to well, it was engraved in her and it was always received with a burning sensation in her stomach, like if she had been drinking some corrosive liquid that always stole her ability to move, to think and even to talk.

Her father was looking at her between those trees as if he had absorbed all darkness into his being and formed from it. His face showing that petty mockery expression, which very poorly disguised disapproval and disappointment and definitely promised words that would cut far deeper then thorns and wicked branches. She did not waited for them…it was getting harder to breath and tears were warming her eyes contrasting with the autumn cold breeze. Holding on her broom, like if it was the only thing able to save her from collapsing, Ying turned around and started to fly as fast as she could, as far as she could. Her heart heavily pondering in her chest and hurting. While she was running away, the only thing she really wanted was to be able to get closer…

A very unpleasant sensation began bubbling in June’s stomach. Wriggling, crawling up her throat. Oh no, she was going to hurl.

Not one to stop for something as small as tummy trouble, June leaned over the side as a… slug? Dropped out of her mouth and onto the ground. Uh oh, there were more on the way.

This was infinitely worse than sick.

Before Della could worry too much about the eldest member of the team, she heard the newest member shout the charm to rid Xailah of the boggart. Nice one, Maverick, she thought, knowing he wouldn't be able to hear him as she sped toward the front.

Ahead of her, she spotted her Slytherin counterpart. Quickly, Della cast the first spell she thought of at June Selwyn—why vomiting slugs? (Her sluggishness at the start of the race was probably to blame for the strange spell.) But she wasn't quick enough, June must have clocked her and sent a disarming spell at the same time. June was vomiting, but Della's wand was gone.

Vale Ashwood, the Co-Captain of the Slytherin Team applied the Bruise Removal Paste again. It made her bruise from the projectiles in the previous round faded. Also, a racer from the Slytherin team cast Episkey, a Minor Healing Charm, at the Co-Captain. "Nice teamwork from the Slytherin Team. They make sure no one has knocked out again in this round," Zach said with omniocular on his hand.

Maverick Castle, the youngest from the Gryffindor team cast the same spell as the previous round, Riddikulus Spell. Unfortunately, he failed to cast the spell this time. "Fang Hui-Ying, the Co-Captain of the Gryffindor Team is still running-" Zach paused, realizing that running was not the correct term. "I mean, flying back from something, uh... someone that chased her. The manifestation of the Boggart."

Hugh Lowe, the giant from the Gryffindor Team, seemed to use the same action from the previous unit, throwing projectiles. He didn't seem bothered by the blindfold and throwing them, maybe wishing the luck was in his favour. But no. Life wasn't that nice to any living things. His attack didn't hit anyone. Xailah Alptraum also experienced the same thing. She couldn't cast her spell. June Selwyn, the Captain of the Slytherin Team turned her back and cast the same spell as the previous round. Unfortunately, her attack was too far. Her spell failed to reach her target.

"CHAAAAAAOOOOOOSSSSSSSS!!"

The race exploded into action! Colin watched as Hugh attacked the sky with something heavy --- at least it didn't hit anyone on the way down! A brief recollection of a tree smashing into Ava crossed his mind as various spells flew across the track. He didn't know if any hit or not, but he did see a wand go flying, so one of them must have!

Colin, deep in his heart, didn't understand hatred; but if he were capable of hating anyone, it would be Ava Winchect. He knew all about forgiveness, but the girl still gave him nightmares and her very existence at Hogwarts was a thorn in his side. He was definitely in the 'not right now' camp when it came to forgiving Ava.

But!

There was one thing Colin would not tolerate. And that was messing with a fellow Snake. Colin smirked. He turned his broom in a graceful arc, gathering all the speed he could muster! He aimed himself straight at Hugh --- all nine foot and likely thirty five stone of him! Colin's brain screamed at him: NOOOOO! But it was too late!

Colin felt like a pebble being hurtled towards the castle wall!

Colin turned!

Just at the very last second, he remembered to hurl himself right side foremost. That way, if he ended up smashing half his body into smithereens, at least it wouldn't be his wand arm that got dashed! He closed his eyes and curled instinctively at the last moment.

BAMF!!

"Nnngh!" Colin couldn't help but moan as he slammed into the older Gryff who was easily five or six times his weight! Colin opened his eyes. Hugh was gone! Colin was still moving sideways! "Wh---!?" He looked around him! Hugh was nowhere to be seen! Had he accidentally cast some kind of translocation spell on Hugh? He blinked. No, not magic. His aching torso and shoulder informed him. Twas just ordinary physics. Colin saw a riderless broom slowly pitch nose down towards the ground. He looked down. There was Hugh! On the ground, green and silver bandana still wrapped around his head! Knocked off his broom!

"WHOA!" Colin wasn't sure if he should gloat or simply be amazed that he was able to knock the giant off his broom at all! There was no time to spare for gloating. He turned and headed back along his course. "That's for Ava," he said, and how weird it sounded in his ears.

With her figurative ducks back in a row, Xailah was off once again like a comet. The same, however, could not be said for a few other Gryffindors- Hugh who had somehow managed to get himself knocked from his broom (how that happened to a brute like him was anyone's guess), and Ying... who's small form grew fainter and fainter by the second. Fortunately, there was one thing going right for the lions: Della's current lead. They couldn't lose it. In an effort to maintain the distance between the younger lioness and the others, Xailah readied her wand; a spell brimming from it's taper.

Whether it was a success or not, would remain a mystery, as Delta jerked her out of the path of an oncoming spell; courtesy of the leading Slytherin: June Selwyn. Unpredictable as the broom could be, he was proving to be more and more reliable with each race. Knock on wood. Xailah's grip tightened as her mount continued to guide her through obstacles; whipping and whizzing through solid gusts of wind. But with her firm hold, and Delta's knack for maneuverability, the manic zephyrs would prove fruitless in their mission to dismount racer from broom. It was only onward from there.
