Slytherin v Ravenclaw - Fall 2023
SPECTATOR THREAD FOR QUIDDITCH - Slytherin vs Ravenclaw - Fall 2023
The conditions couldn't have been better for a Quidditch match if Merlin himself had wished it so. There wasn't a cloud in the sky and the sun had just reached high noon. A far cry away from the usual rain and cloud cover that frequented the Scottish Highlands this time of year. Perhaps the gods themselves were in the mood for a quality game as the sunshine illuminated the pitch. Regardless of the whims of deities, Hogwarts was surely ready fro the new season as the crowds began to gather.Date: Saturday, October 28th.
Time: 12:00 PM
Weather: Sunny, Clear Skies
The spectator stands were a sea swirling with emerald and navy blue as both House Slytherin and Ravenclaw showed up in numbers to cheer on their teams. The stadium hummed with excited chatter and the hoots and hollers of fans. Banners waved in the afternoon air, wizard crackers burst and multicolored sparks erupted from wands as the excitement gained momentum. Both student and staff alike would pack out the seats as yet another season of Hogwarts' Quidditch was about to begin.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, Witches and Wizards!" A magically enhanced voice boomed through the air. "Welcome to the season opener of the 2023 - 24 Quidditch season. Please welcome to pitch Team Slytherin and Team Ravenclaw!" A mix of boos and cheers would erupt from the stands as the players took to the pitch. It was just moments away from the starting whistle!
This is a spectator thread for the Quidditch Game. 200 words is still the requirement for all threads. Please remember that you are not able to interface with the players on the pitch from a spectator thread.

She was here to observe the game, yes, but also to support a very special someone: her best friend and newest Ravenclaw keeper, @Renelle Dalton. That's why she wore both green and blue while in the stands, one to support her house and the other to support Renelle.
The sun shone down on the pitch through the autumn chill, promising a good game. Astra wore a cap to shield her blue eyes and keep her face from burning. The absolute fit Morella would have if she came home burned.
Even so, she had gotten a good seat, in the second row from the pitch.
A loud, booming voice cut through Astra's thoughts. "Ladies and Gentlemen, Witches and Wizards! Welcome to the season opener of the 2023 - 24 Quidditch season. Please welcome to pitch Team Slytherin and Team Ravenclaw!"
Astra cheered and stood just as many people around her did. She saw the players get onto the field, recognizing Koko Riddle, the Slytherin Keeper and co-captain. She had met the older year just a couple weeks ago. The other team members were new-ish faces, or at least faces that didn't quite have names yet.
She would wave at Renelle as the girl came into the pitch, proud of her friend. She would frown as she saw a certain blonde Ravenclaw come out, Delaine Silverwing, a little prat and Astra's only enemy thus far. The feeling was mutual between the girls. Astra knew she would delight in beating the bird once she got on the team.

Slytherin v Ravenclaw - Fall 2023
@Astra Norrick | open to interactions October 28th, 2023Pyxis didn't understand Quidditch. He didn't understand sports at all, really. He was much more of a lone wolf... unless he needed a Sage to revive him in Valorant or a group to hit domains with in Genshin Impact. But playing in a team online was so very different from doing so in real life, and even though he was already given a rundown of the rules of Quidditch, it was the teamwork part that stumped him with Quidditch as well as all other team sports.
Still, the boy had a very good reason for taking to the stands in late October. His house was playing, of course he'd be there! And as he watched his childhood friend, @Ayla Flores, take to the sky, he gained another reason. Of course, this presented a conflict of interest as he now had no idea which team to support. However, Pyxis was simply too detached from the world of Quidditch is give a damn about loyalties. He could change his mind in the future when he had more experience with house pride, but for now, he was content to be one of many in the raucous blue and green sea, arms full of cauldron cakes and ginger newts.
Despite his satisfaction with not picking a side, Pyxis hadn't been paying much attention to the flyers wearing green, instead keeping his gaze squarely on Ayla. He couldn't remember what position she would be playing, but he was quite proud of her making the team in their first year. He only wished that some of that luck or skill could be given to him as the boy was still waitlisted for the Slytherin duelling team.
As the announcer's voice boomed across the pitch, the crowd around him took to their feet in excitement. With a delayed reaction, he jumped up and gave a loud cheer too, not wanting to stand out or be left out. When grabbing his seat earlier, he clocked a Slytherin he'd seen in his classes and in the snake commons wearing both green and blue. Thinking they had something in common there, he took a spot next to her and he had to hand it to her, the view was perfect. Now if only he could remember the rules of the game before the announcer blew the starting whistle.
As the crowd quieted down, Pyxis turned his head towards the girl he was sitting next to and spoke when the crowd's volume dropped for a second. "Cheering for both teams, ey? Same here. Who's your pick on Ravenclaw?"

Others: BoldAstra looked beside her with a slight start as a fellow Slytherin sat. He, too, had divided loyalties during this game. She gave a nod to his statement, saying, "Yeah, got a bird friend." She pointed to the bench where Renelle was now sitting, as well as Silverwing. "The tall brunette, Renelle Dalton. Second string keeper. Just got on the team. My best friend. Real proud of her." She looked at the boy full on, dropping her arm and flicking her thumb and index finger together as an attempt to relieve some of the energy she was feeling. Sure, she'd seen a Quidditch match before. Heck, she'd even been to the London stadium. But this was the first Quidditch match at Hogwarts, for cripes' sake. She herself could be on that pitch any day, searching for the Snitch.
"Who's your pick?" Astra asked. As she studied the blue-clad team, she realized they were all girls. Except one of the beaters, that is. Wow. That's crazy. There was a pretty even spread of boys and girls on the snake team, even one player who Astra knew identified as non-binary. I think they're on the duelling team as well. Co-cap, if I remember. Yes, that was right. She'd seen the last name Ironwoods on both sheets when she signed up for the Quidditch waitlist.
Oh, introduce yourself! Astra sat up straighter, sticking out her hand to the boy. "I'm Astra, by the way. Astra Norrick."

─────The first match of the day was finished and Landon still wanted to watch more. His friends didn't really seem all that interested in watching the second match because it didn't have Hufflepuff involved, but Landon was curious about how the other teams would perform. Landon knew one member of the Slytherin team, Mari Alves, but he didn't really know most of the players. He wasn't rooting for any particular team either. He just knew that he wanted to watch the game.
Landon took the time between the two matches to stand up and stretch. He had been on his feet during some of the last match, but he had more room to stretch now that some of the Hufflepuffs had left the stands. They weren't as interested in a game that had nothing to do with their own house team, but Landon planned on staying for the next match. Landon felt the breeze moving through his hair and took a deep breath, breathing in the fresh air around him. He did really love the autumn weather, especially when it wasn't too cold like it would be when it was closer to winter time.
Settling back down in his seat, Landon prepared to watch the next match. He didn't know if he would have anyone to talk to, but he didn't mind. He was really interested in Quidditch and how it was played. He liked the idea of the Keeper position most of all. It sounded like something he could possibly do, if he were to play Quidditch.

Slytherin v Ravenclaw - Fall 2023
@Astra Norrick October 28th, 2023Pyxis squinted, zoning in on the bench to pick out his new companion's friend. He spotted two recognizable faces taking their seats as well as two upperclassmen. One of the latter looked like she was much older than the first years and Pyxis raised his eyebrows at the sight, impressed that Ayla made the team after only a few short months at Hogwarts. Maybe it was natural talent that got her the gig. If so, he’d probably have to give up hope of making the house duelling team any time soon, because his skill at spells were being expressed as poofs and mishaps lately.
“Yeah, I’m super proud of all of the first years who made it onto those teams. If they can do it, then… we can too.” His words were less-than-confident, but something about saying the affirmation out loud seemingly renewed his drive to not just make it onto the duelling team, but to succeed at it too. As the players all settled into their positions, hovering in the air, the motivation slowly sapped from his body.
“I’m cheering for that one over there. Ayla Flores,” he pointed at the blonde on a classy-looking broom. At least, it looked classy to him. He wasn’t that familiar with brooms. “Erm… I don’t really know what position she’s playing. I don’t really know much about this game at all,” he laughed nervously, rubbing the back of his neck. “Oh! And I’m Pyxis,” he smiled, accepting her outstretched hand. “Pyxis Hellebore.”
He reached his hand into the little snack bag he’d brought with him, fully intending on offering something to Astra, but then the whistle blew and the players were zooming across the field like mosquitoes. His eyes tried to find Ayla and he had to resort to looking for her familiar hair. Spotting her, he couldn’t really tell if she was doing the thing or not, but he did realize how difficult it was to keep his eyes on her while offering snacks. “Uh, ginger newt? Or… or cauldron cake?”
