With slightly shaky hands Opeila entered the field- not as duellist but for the first time as referee and Co-Captain of the Viridian Vipers. The match she oversaw was the final one and the young Slytherin had taken notes on how her fellow Captains worked. She wouldn't feel more confident than she did now.
All six duellists in the coming match were second years, meaning Opeila had read the names several times in order to get them right- apart from her own year, she didn't interact with the younger years too much, but by now she was sure she knew all six names, even if she wasn't entirely sure who of them was who.
Swiftly she cleared her throat and cast Sonorus on herself. "Welcome to the final match of the first stage!" Her voice echoed across the room, thankfully sounding more confident than she felt. "On this side we have the Gryffindors Lily Isobel McCoire, Estelle Nyx and Raizel Voltrouz!" Opeila gestured towards the Gryffindor duellists. "And here from the Blazing Badgers- Alyssea Brown, Axyen Dragonclaw and EmmaLee LeDames!"
She quickly cast Quietus again and addressed the six duellists. "Please play fair, let me know if you can't continue- and most importantly, enjoy yourself!" Opeila remembered her own second year, her first duels that had been a disaster. Hopefully the six of them felt a bit safer than she did, only facing students of their own year. "Alright then" The Slytherin rose her wand, pointing it straight up. "Go!" Quickly she cast Periculum, making red sparks erupt from her wand.

This was it. A few days ago, Alyssea was out in the open air screaming her lungs out for her racers. Now it was her turn to represent Hufflepuff. Beside her were EmmaLee and Axyen, two Second Years she hadn't talked to very much.
She'd been waiting for this first match for a long time. She had a month of practice matches in her back pocket, an arsenal of wisdom she built against various opponents. The only thing on her mind was to not mess this up.

Hufflepuff vs Gryffindor: Match 8
Thanks to Lucia Fox!Axyen felt extremely nervous, there just seemed to be so much that could go wrong. This was his very first duel. Calm down, you can do this. You have learned a lot of spells by now, so just show some confidence, think clearly. Axyen told himself, he remembered his first Charms lesson, he would need to speak clearly, there was no time for stuttering, messing up wand movements, no moments of self doubt. He felt a lingering nervousness, but Axyen needed to stay focused. Think, who are you going to target... Axyen looked ahead at his opponents.
Axyen saw familiar faces, Axyen knew what to do, well at least he hoped. Axyen had to remember what his classes had taught him about spell casting. With confidence he prepared himself for hopefully anything and everything. Axyen had to try his best to block out the crowd(partial success) and then Axyen heard the word "Go!" Axyen immediately responded, his heart racing.
Axyen wore a long grey sleeve shirt with yellow stripes near the top and bottom, a Hufflepuff badge pinned to his shirt, black jeans. Axyen didn't bring his scarf or robes because he felt like they may potentially slow Axyen down, and Axyen didn't want to be at any kind of disadvantage.Information

Anxious, so anxious
Raizel never felt this way before whenever she stepped on the piste… well, aside from when she's facing off against a higher year. This was different though, this is the official duelling games and she's here representing Gryffindor along with her teammates. This isn't the same as the random duels that she's been participating in. The feeling that she has was the same one during her first day at Hogwarts. She thought she had overcome it but no, not entirely at least.
"Okay," she took a deep breath, calming herself to get her head in the game, casting away the nerves. Seeing some familiar faces is making her feel at ease. "Bring it!" She grinned, focusing on having a good time in this duel and of course, gonna try and grab that sweet victory.

The fear of failure mixed with the nerves of perfectionism created a soup of anxiety in her stomach. She didn't want to fail. But what if she did? What if the spectators laughed at her? What if...
She shook her head. This wasn't like her. She was never nervous. She just rode the waves of confidence, whether they washed her safely onto a tropical beach or tumbled her into a storm. And if they did, she would just get up, brush herself off and continue on her path.
She stopped just outside the room and took a deep breath, calming her nerves and letting excitement take over. This was it! She was finally duelling for Gryffindor!
Es smiled confidently as she entered the room, ready to face her opponents. Although her positive appearance may not have reflected her inner turmoil, what she wanted others to see was clear on her face. She was determined to win this!

EmmaLee stepped into the room, practically shaking with excitement and just a little bit of nerves. She was finally here. It was finally time. It was nice that all of the teams were second years, so she knew them by sight and name, if not personally. She also knew a bit about their capabilities and wand work from seeing them in class. EmmaLee was confident that she, Alyssea, and Axyen would do well.
As she stepped up next to her teammates, she readied her wand and waited for the signal to start, her mouth set in a determined, eager smile.

It seemed to not even take seconds for the action to start when Opeila signaled them to begin and it felt odd to watch it from an outsider's standing point. Many times the Slytherin had been on this stage and been hit by the exact spells the second years in front of her were casting at each other.
The Gryffindor were decidedly at disadvantage in the first few seconds. Lily's Incendio missed Alyssea- Opeila didn't manage to keep the relief out of her face entirely, why hadn't fire been banned from dueling yet?- as did Estelle's Flipendo EmmaLee. Only Raizel got in a good hit, at the same time Axyen knocked the young girl onto her back with a strong Petrificus Totalus, a mere moment before Raizel's expelliarmus hit the wand out of his hand.
Alyssea and EmmaLee seemed to be thinking the same, casting Rictusempra at both of the other girls, both of which found their mark.
Opeila cringed a little at the sight- oh how she hated that spell herself. Not quite as bad as fire or that goddamn blindfolding spell, but nearly as disarming as the disarming spell itself. It was quite nice to see the younger kids use a variation of spells though, Flipendo and Incendio had been Opeila's main weapons around that age. She also hadn't missed that Axyen had used a third year spell, being only a second year himself and confessed herself impressed.

Was her first spell predictable? Only time could tell as she sent the tickling charm over Estelle's way. The nerves hadn't gotten to her yet as her spell went flying and hit its mark. Hopefully that would give Alyssea time to redirect her attention to more pressing matters.
Simultaneously, she swerved out of Lily's fire-making spell. While Hufflepuff and fire tend to go hand-in-hand, she was not keen on experiencing that within seconds of the match starting.
Alyssea chuckled and threw a thumbs up to the rest of her team, finding now that Axyen's wand wasn't in his hand. Welp, it happens. "Not a bad start!"

Thanks to Lucia Fox!Everything happened so fast, it felt like spells flew across the room. Axyen quickly raised his wand and moved it in a curve before moving it horizontally towards the right and immediately sent it vertically downwards. "Petrificus Totalus!" Axyen said, sending the spell towards Raizel. Axyen remembered first learning this spell one year ahead of his grade, it was such an enjoyable time. Axyen first saw it in the library before he went on to practice the spell until he was able to do it. Now, it came quickly and naturally to Axyen when he needed it most. Axyen felt his wand get knocked out of his hand, he sometimes wondered how the disarming spell could knock your weapon out of your hand, would it be possible to hold on tight enough to resist? Axyen now got to learn himself. Axyen gasped in surprised as his wand got knocked out of his hand.
Axyen's teammates seemed to be in a much better position, they dodge the spells cast at them and fired back and hit the other opponents. Hopefully Axyen and his teammates could keep up the great work. Everything passed by immediately it seemed, Axyen didn't know what to expect but everything seemed to just fit into place somehow. Yet, Axyen still felt nervous, it was a lingering feeling that couldn't be shaken off completely...Information
