Astra hissed in pain as she batted at the flame on her robes. It stung her unprotected hand and scorched her bare leg. Frantic almost, she was able to put it out quickly, but she was sure she'd have a burn. Crap.

She glared at Delainie's smug face as the other first year tried to levitate her again with Wingardium Leviosa. The spell was simply not one of the other's strong suits and missed by quite a bit. After Astra stepped out of the way, that is. The long incantation allowed her plenty of time to escape. "Perhaps you should practice that one, then maybe you won't be adding so many failures to your record. It's getting rather long after eleven years," Astra mocked, feeling a little more mean. The girl had just burned her, for cripes sakes! She now had to think about her next spell, again one of two, while Delainie was still recovering from her failure. Surely the flash from the Green Sparks Charm was still leaving spots in her vision? Astra dearly hoped so as she sent her next spell flying, wishing for all the world that she had thought to learn Incendio before this happened.

I tried to cast the levitation charm in that stupid girl but sadly, I missed it. I grunted at my failure and stood there waiting for Astra to do something. I was fairly surprised that she didn’t shoot some spell at me but instead just put out the fire, without magic. I mean, sure I wouldn’t want to be aflame, but I’d also want to curse someone for doing that to me. Anyways I was safe, so as Zach had said, I took my spot again, and got ready to duel. I was ready to do whatever I needed to beat this evil little child, and give her everything she deserves. Even if ‘everything she deserves’ happens to be a nice muggle punch to the face after the duel ends. I wasn’t sure how I could beat her, but I was already getting very angry at her, all I did was help her find her wand! She got so upset for absolutely no reason at all, that’s what got me, so now, I needed to win. No. Matter. What. As much as didn’t want to admit it, Astra was right, I don’t want to keep adding failures to my record, so maybe I should choose a spell that I’m much better at this time. “says the one who was on fire” I said, with a sassy grin on my face.

The round continued. Both of the duellists prepared their next action. From the Delainie side, she cast Zach's favourite spell, Incendio. The flame was conjured from the tip of her wand. Zach's eyes gleamed with excitement when he saw the flame. However, the spell didn't hit Astra. She could evade the spell successfully. Zach wasn't disappointed. At least, he could see a flame. The burning scent was a bonus.

Then Astra, the reddish-brown-haired girl, cast the same spell from the previous rounds, Dancing-Feet Spell. With precision wand movement and clear incantation, the spell was successfully cast. The girl also accurately targeted Delainie and made the spell hit her. A reaction started to be seen from Delainie's feet. She danced Cha Cha Cha. It was so long for Zach to see a Cha Cha dance since he enrolled in Hogwarts. Step, Step, Cha Cha Cha! The tempo sound nostalgic to him.

"Good job you, two!" Zach looked at the both girls, ignoring what expression they both had made for this duel. The anger might be their fuel for casting the spell, so let them be. Zach was a little bit curious what had happened to them and he considered to ask them after the duel. But once he thought again, it wasn't his business. He didn't want to be a nosy person to the people he just know. "Now let's go to the next round. Be prepared," Zach said. "Shoot your spells!"

Astra narrowed her eyes and focused on the flame building at the tip of Delainie's wand. The bird would not get her this time! Astra crouched quickly as the fire soared over her head, then thrust out her wand, casting "Tarantallegra!" again in a clear, loud voice. Her spell flew true, as she hoped it would, hitting her blond opponent and once again forcing her into a dance.

This one was more rhythmic, to Astra's disappointment, but hopefully the dance moves would still through Delainie off. Besides, it was entertaining watching the smug and volatile girl (though Astra had to admit, she was more volatile in this instance) be reduced to uncontrollable dancing again. And she doesn't know the General Counter-Spell! What luck! Astra felt her confidence rising.

Once again, she would remind herself to focus in and stay neutral, too much emotion could affect her casting badly. Offering no banter, she readied herself again. The principle, remember the principle. There's a reason for being angry. She was coming to terms with her rash decision and trying to avoid the consequences at all costs. That would really complicate the image she was trying to cultivate.

Ugh, i had missed my spell again, I needed to do something, but now it was Astras turn, so I’d have to wait u til the next round before I could cast any other spell. Astra pointed her wand at me and the next thing I knew I was dancing all over the place, I glared at her through the moves, and tried to stop myself. I wish I knew a spell to counter it, but I didn’t, so for now all I could do was glare. Luckily, the effects didn’t last too long, and I mutter curses at Astra under my breath. Zach called out a “good job” to us both. Was he that clueless of how much I hated Astra, and how much she hated me back?! It was he just ignoring it, only here for the entertainment, I didn’t know. But what u did know, was that I needed to win this thing, so I hugged and walked back to my starting spot and got into ready position. I needed to win, I needed to! I need to prove to Astra that I’m better than her, and that she shouldn’t be all snobby with me, there’s no point in that.

One, two, cha cha cha. Zach counted and named all the steps from Delainie's dance. But what made him surprised was the pale-blonde-haired girl making another attempt to cast the Levitating Charm despite her condition. Logically, the failure rate of the spell being cast was higher in her condition. At the same time, it somewhat made Zach impressed with her persistence in trying the same spell. He just hoped that this attempt was a success. It was. Delainie managed to cast the spell at her opponent and hit her successfully. Zach jumped and clapped his hands unconsciously.

Just at the same time as Delainie casting, Astra also cast her spell. She repeated her last action by casting another Dancing-Feet Spell. Unfortunately, it seemed she lost her focus. The spell backfired on her and made her feet dance. Along with the Levitating Charm from Delainie, her clothes started to float, bringing her float above too and she started to dance contemporary. It was Zach's first time witnessing this phenomenon. "I should take note of this. The combination seemed very fun to do," he thought.

Zach cleared his throat after some seconds in awe. "Okay. Let's continue this duel. Prepare your wand and good luck!" Zach really wanted to take his diary to write a note now before he forgot about this combination.

Stupid Astra stupid Astra! I repeated in my head over and over again. She had cast the dancing feet spell on me, and I couldn’t do anything to stop it. I didn’t have much time to waste before casting my own spell, she would probably be laughing at me. I could’ve waited for the effects to wear off completely to have a better chance at a successful casting, but I yell out out the levitation charm then and there. To my great happiness, it worked, and hit her! Astra also cast a spell at the same time as me, this time the dancing feet spell again! Somehow, her spell backfired and hit her instead. I burst out laughing everywhere, two spells on one girl, how great. She started floating up in the air while doing some contemporary dance moves, it was hilarious. I looked over at Zach and smiled big, this was probably one of the best parts of the duel so far. I wondered if he had ever seen this happen before, I certainly haven’t. He said it was time to start the next round, so I swallowed and regained myself, brought myself back to focus. The next round was about to start, and hopefully Astra would be a bit more humble now, she needed it. “You ready?” I asked her.

Astra couldn't believe it. Her own spell had backfired. What happened? she wondered.

It must have been the bird's spell. Successfully casting Wingardium Leviosa, Astra was now floating. And if that wasn't bad enough, she was dancing, too. Salazar, this is humiliating.

Astra could hear Delainie's laughter and her frustration rose. Her usual impassive face out of order, seeing as she was floating and dancing midair in some sort of mix between ballet and modern. It's going to be so hard to focus. Unfortunately, this dance wasn't rhythmic like the cha cha, but still she began detecting patterns in the steps (if they could still be called that).

"You ready?" Delainie asked once she could control her loud and obnoxious laughter.

Astra smiled sweetly down. "Always," she responded, having figured out when she could cast based on her steps. Let's hope it works this time.

After succeeding in casting Levitation Charm, the girl with pale-blonde hair decided not to maintain the spell any longer. She released the spell and made her opponent fall from the high, resulting in a bang sound on the piste. "Ouch," Zach was unconsciously whining after seeing the girl fell on the piste.

Astra, after falling from the high, was still doing contemporary dance with her feet. Despite her busy feet that bothered her in doing her actions, she still tried to cast a spell. This time, she cast General Counter-Spell, Finite Incantatem. She successfully cast it and made her feet to stop dancing. The girl wasn't dancing anymore and could be more focused for the next round. "She managed to cast a Second Year spell successfully. She must be talented in Charms," Zach said in his thought.

In the other hand, after Delainie stopped casting her Levitation Charm, she decided to cast another spell, Fire-Making Spell. However, she didn't manage to cast it and made it critically failed. The spell backfired on her, making the fire went back at her and made her clothes aflame. A small fire was still lit on her clothes, giving her the heat.

"Okay, let's immediately continue to the next round. Everybody be prepared!" he said. Zach was taking some step back and continued to say, "Point your wand and cast your spell!" He was expecting some interesting things in the next round.

I dropped Astra down from hanging in the air, the banging sound of her hitting the piste startled me a little, but also brought me pleasure. I laughed when Astra was still dancing around, how stupid she looked. It did anger me a bit when she cast the spell to stop her dancing, and even more that it’s not a first but a second year spell, she shouldn’t know that yet! Without thinking, I spot out the fire making spell in anger. I should have tried to be a bit more calm, I guess being mad doesn’t help your casting in the slightest. The spell backfired and now my clothes were on fire. It didn’t hurt, but I was a lot more embarrassed than anything. I could sense Astras annoying voice about to come attack me at any second. Ugh these stupid flames! I thought, but there was no time to put them out now. We were about to start the next round, so the only thing I could do is to get ready. I stop at my spot on the piste, glaring at Astra, and like Zach said, pointing my wand at her. I knew I had to win this duel, whatever it took.
