I stormed into the castle after my mini fight with Astra Norrick. She was unbelievable! She had dated to freezing spell on me (yes I casted a spell on her first but still) and now wanted to meet inside if the duelling club. I thought that this was a wonderful idea. There was nothing that I wanted more than to be able to cast as many spells as I want on the little snob without getting in trouble. I went to my dorm room and got changed into better, dry, clothes that I could duel in. I waited around for a few hours, remembering all of my spells, I did better under pressure anyways. Once the time came, I got up and went to the duelling club. Oh I was so ready to beat Astra right now, I was quite very excited. When I showed up, I saw Astra there. I walked up over to her. “Are you ready?” I asked her with a smile.
An older male student walked up to us. He called out my name and asked for Astra’s, why does that things name matter anyways I thought. The boy asked if he could moderate a duel for us! “Oh yes please!” I said to him with lots of excitement in my voice. I walked up to the starting spot and had my wand at the ready. I glared at Astra, this was my chance to beat her and prove who the better wizard is! “Start!” Zach yelled.

Astra stormed up five flights of shifting stairs, up past anything she'd want to be doing now that her rational mind had taken control again, and went to the duelling club. Her pride and her honor were on the line, especially since she had set the stakes so high and issued the challenge herself. You don't even know that many spells, idiot. You. Are. Going. To. Die.

Oh, shut up. Astra tried to harness the anger she had felt then, but it was just too dramatic. Oh, Godric, I'm an idiot. If only she could've walked away.

But it's the bird's fault! She was the one who held my wand back, and that wouldn't have been an issue if she hadn't have made those comments and hadn't have made this more than it should be. And the stupid rain didn't help either! Ah, there, a fire inside. She was mad at the principle of what happened, and she would not apologize because she was not at fault.

When Astra reached the duelling club, she spun her wand, glancing around. There she is, she thought as she spotted the blonde Ravenclaw, also in dry clothes. She walked over to Astra, saying sweetly "Are you ready?"
"I was born ready," Astra responded flippantly, her attention focused on another bird, this one an older boy, who was approaching the two.

Ah, so that's her name. Delainie. The birthday girl, I remember. Astra couldn't believe she had attended this prat's birthday party, however briefly, even if her only motive was cake. Well now I know why she doesn't have many friends.

"Name's Astra," she said, sticking out her hand for him to shake. "We're going to have a duel." She jerked her head in Delainie's direction.

The boy, Zach, offered to moderate for them. Astra walked up to the piste with her wand in her hand. Please please please let everything about Phoenix core and Holly wood pairings be true. I cannot lose Her emotion did not show on her face as she returned Delainie's glare with an innocent little smile. "Good luck, bird," she chirped in an innocent tone.

"Start!"

Zach could feel something wasn't right betr the two girls. "Are they having beef or something? They're… so intense. I don't like the atmosphere," Zach thought from the side of the piste. Astra, the girl with reddish-brown hair, cast a Dancing-Feet Spell. Zach knew for sure when he saw her wand movement and her clear pronunciation, the spell must be successfully cast and it was. On the other side of the piste, the girl with pale-blonde hair cast a very well-known spell from first year, Levitation Charm. She also cast the spell successfully. And the result were Astra could hit Delainie accurately while Delainie couldn't. Perhaps it was because of the length of the pronunciation that Tarantallegra could hit Delainie first and made her lose focus when targeting Astra. The Dancing-Feet Spell forced Delainie to do Contemporary Dance.

Zach smirked looking at the duelists on the piste. They seemed to have something to resolve and they did it with dueling. Magical attack was his least favorite thing to do when resolving some problems but he couldn't say that it couldn't be use for that. "Nice shot, Astra," he gave her a smile. "Duelists, get ready with your position again," he said to both the girls and immediately added, "if you can," while looking at Delainie. "Then, start!"

Astra let out a small sigh of relief as her spell hit Delainie, the bird suddenly breaking into a ridiculous contemporary dance. "Not very good at dancing, are you, bird? Maybe you should practice for the Fall Ball. Otherwise you may have to dance alone!" she called with a satisfied smirk. She easily tilted her body out of the way as Delainie's spell flew past her. This minor success boosted her confidence a bit, but she had to remind herself that she only knew two offensive dueling spells and one counter-spell. This is either going to be very boring or I'm going to lose badly. Astra resolved to double up her studies so she could learn more spells, in case Delainie wanted a rematch, or someone else wanted to duel her. This is why I didn't want to join the dueling team. Godric, why did I do this?

She smiled and nodded at Zach in thanks for his compliment. Alright, focus, Asa. She set her dark sea green eyes on Delainie, working back into the starting position and thinking of the next spell she would use. She didn't let it show, but there was worry gnawing at her stomach as the thought of losing flitted across her mind. No, can't think like that.

Somehow, i don’t know how, I missed my spell! I must have said it wrong, or done the wrong wand movement or something. Astra on the other hand cast it correctly, and a second later, I found myself dancing on the piste in front of everyone. I was embarrassed now, that the snobby girl managed to cast the spell properly and not me, and that I was dancing there helplessly. I bet Astra was snickering away enjoying the little show that I was putting on, it was only the first spell, this didn’t mean anything. I knew that I would get it this time, I had to. I didn’t want to win the duel for the win, I wanted to win for the satisfaction of beating Astra and putting her right in her place! I would teach her not to mess with me. I steadied myself from her spell, held into my wand tighter, and got ready to shot anything that came to my mind. I glared at Astra again, I was super angry now that she already was starting to beat me, her ego was too high before this, if she won the duel, that would definitely be no good.

The next round turned to be very exciting. Delainie pointed her wand toward Astra and cast the Fire Making Spell. The fire was conjured from the tip of the wand and hit Astra successfully. Zach was very excited when he saw the fire. "Fire!" he shouted excitedly. The flame was still lit and burned the body hem of Astra's outfit and made Zach gasped when he saw it. It made him remember that he still couldn't fix the burned sleeve from his previous duel..

Meanwhile, Astra, the reddish-brown-haired girl cast a Green Spark Charm at Delainie and she did it perfectly! Zach was surprised how she moved her wand and cast the incantation, a literal textbook. It might be caused by the boost of confidence from the previous round when she hit Delainie while she also could manage to evade the spell that came to her. Or perhaps, she was a talented spell caster. A greenish spark shone so brightly and hit Delainie, attacking Delainie's vision.

"I like your flame!" Zach said to Dealinie. Then he turned to Astra and said, "And you cast the spell perfectly!" with an excited smile on his face. "Let's continue to the next round. Prepare your position and posture again! Start!" Could both girls manage their own disadvantages? Zach wondered what would happen next.

Astra jumped, a brief look of surprise crossing her features as a flame hit the hem of her robes."Dammit!" she hissed. She didn't even have time to think of the heart attack her poor mum would have if she knew Astra had said that aloud. She hear the moderator shout something as she frantically thought of a spell to hurl back at Delainie. The bird's spell had reminded her how woefully unmatched she was, but Astra couldn't let this go. Even if she didn't win this duel, she would work hard and challenge again. Challenge until she won. Because that's how she worked. I will win. It may not be for a long time, but eventually I will prevail.

The first lesson from Defense Against the Dark Arts came to her mind, and she pointed her wand at Delainie, yelling "Verdimillous!" Sparks like tiny green emeralds shot out from the tip of her wand and zoomed across the piste, hitting the smug blonde in the face. How fitting to be a Slytherin now, she thought with a hint of laughter. She must have looked maniacal, laughing and on fire, but hey, wasn't everyone a little crazy? Astra felt a tickle of heat on her legs and she looked down, seeing her robes being burned into by the flickering flame. "Bloody-" she started, before mentally sending an apology to both God and Morella. Really, I should tell her about Roderick's cursing problem just in case I slip up. Ah, never mind that, I've got to do something about this fire!

Astra cast a spell at me that I instantly recognized, it was the green sparks charm. I had cast it in a previous duel, I wasn’t quite sure what it did though.I guess that I must have been a little bit too focused on what her spell was, instead of dodging it. The impact of the spell suddenly hit me. I huffed, I couldn’t believe that I had actually gotten distracted enough to be hit by that evil, awful, little child! I glared hard at her as I pointed my wand at her ugly face and yelled “Incendio!” The girl’s clothes caught fire almost immediately after I had cast the spell. I grinned, and even laughed a little, though I tried to hold it in, yes she had hit me, but I was better than her, I always was. Her pathetic spell was absolutely nothing compared to being lit on fire, at least to me. I stood there in my glory of giving the stupid girl what she deserved! Zach told us to get ready to start again for the next round, so I stopped my little bit of laughing, and stood straight. I was ready to beat her again.

Zach looked forward at the duel between the pale-blonde-haired girl and the reddish-brown-haired girl. Started with Delainie. She tried the second attempt to cast the Levitation Charm. She cast it well, just like the first round. However, she once again couldn't hit Astra with the spell. It was indeed a hard spell to cast in the duel situation where your opponent might have a movement that made the targeting more hard along with the long incantation. Zach hadn't tried to cast the spell in his duels because of this reason. "You cast it perfectly, Delainie. Just try to be more focused," he said. Zach really wanted to see the spell effect in the duelling.

On the other side of the piste, Astra attempted to put out the fire physically, which was a good decision. Using a spell to extinguish it carried a risk of failure, and the flames could have caused her more harm. Zach observed the girl to ensure that she did not get a severe burn injury while putting out the fire on her outfit. After the duel ended, he would need to check her condition to confirm this.

"Let's continue the duel," he said. "Everybody get ready with your position! Remember not to make this room messy because it's a no fun job to clean it," Zach looked at both of them and said, "Are you ready? Go!"
