Camp, 2023 Summer Duels, Game 7: Slytherin vs Guests

Klaus grumbled and cursed under his breath. Reuben had been targeted at this round again and two of the spells made its way towards the dark-haired boy leaving him unconscious and out of the game. It was just him and Maila now, against the three snakes, even if one seemed to be under some kind of weird enchantment or something like that.

The words coming from their opponents made him boil, but he made every effort to remain his cold stance. "Good luck having some looser poise then! I'll let you go down with class if that's your last request." Klaus replied with malice to the boy presenting him with a matching smirk, "For sure, you don't want to see what is the real magic they taught us at Durmstrang, I think your strategic mind wouldn't be allowed to even think of that!" His grey-blue eyes darted to the silver-haired girl with a fire that revealed what he was so barely trying to hide, his rising temper and frustration.

Reuben looked up just in time to see the girl, Pea, cast a spell at him. He dodged it with success, but too late, he realized that Leveret had decided to target him too, and the next thing he knew, he was thrown back by yet another Flippendo. He got up, tired. He was losing his stamina. One more hit... and... that was when the lightning struck. "Why me?", was all he could say as he fell backwards.

This was a poor round for the Slytherins. Duvessa was still off eith the fairies, and it seemed didn't have a care in the world that her partners were being battered and bruised from all sides. Pea would take a decent Incendio from Niklaus, but luckily she didn't fully catch alight. Her own spell missed spectacularly, not hitting Niklaus in retribution, but her own partner Avery. Mr Leveret himself was going poorly. His wand seemed to have it out for him, flinging the spell back onto the boy as Pea's pink blindfold landed on his eyes. Thankfully, there was a small reprieve for him in that his opponent Maila missed him.

	----- T hey were, once again, their own worst enemies. Pea and Avery had duelled before, and in that duel a spell of hers had flung in his direction but he was prepared enough to avoid being struck. Since then, he’d seen her miss-cast two other spells, and this would be the third. As he went to blast Maila, he raised his wand; spoke the incantation and then the world went dark. His eyes were bound with a textile, and it caused him to lose concentration on his spell; which reversed onto him. A harrowing affair, that could well cost them victory.

Maila let a breath escape from her lips as her spell succeeded but did not hit her target. She chewed on her bottom lip, wondering what she had been doing wrong. While Niklaus' spell hit, yet did not set his target aflame, the older Slytherin seemed to completely miss her target and attack one of her team mates instead. Avery, who apparently wanted to cast at Maila, didn't have better luck and his spell backfired. Getting back into position, Maila prepared herself for what could possibly come at her in the next round.

Action as strategized

Even if his spell hadn’t met its target has he wished it had, Klaus felt that finally things were taking its rightful place. If Maila and him could keep up with this rhythm, victory was for sure granted. Durmstrang would have its fair reward.

The boy smirk grew into a grin when he saw the other team making his work, “That was quite worthy of Hogwarts and all the…half breeds you seem so fond of.”

What happened next is something that feels like came out of her nightmares. Maybe she really need to keep her mouth shut, but she knows that would never happen. How her spell manage to missed more than once is truly a ridiculous. And what more ridiculous is for her to sabotage her own team mate. Maybe she is not destined for dueling.

HA! That is another ridiculous thing that slipped her mind. Her? Bad at something is impossible. Maybe it was anger that drive her wand this time. It is just the poor lad who was the victim of her wand’s wrath. What’s worst is Leveret’s spell was also not following his command. What an absolute chaos, that said the fire that came at her was also came at an absolute surprise. She really can’t catch a break can’t she?

The bad luck would just continue for the Slytherins it seemed. Duvessa would take no action to help her team. Pea would try and cast a flipendo towards the guests but something it seemed would scare her off, making the spell fizzle and miss the girls target completely. Poor Avery become a punching bag for the flipendos this round. Both the guest duellist still standing would punch out a spell at the same time. Both would hit. But it would be Mailas' that would end the round with Leveret on the ground, battered and bruised. At least he could now grab the blindfold and pull it off.

And hit. A pleased smile plastered itself on her lips. Maila's Flipendo had hit Avery just after Niklaus's but it had been hers that gave him the last hit. The older Slytherin tried targeting Maila but her Flipendo missed the Finnish girl by far. As Maila got into position to execute her next action, she could not help but feel like things were looking good for them, hopefully that would stay that way.
