Summer Duels, Game 1: Ravenclaw vs Slytherin
Phaedra’s seriousness was debatable as she, with a sharp whip of her wand, robbed Collins and Winters each of their balance. While perhaps providing some mild entertainment, the decision was a mostly strategic one, her teammates sending a dastardly combination of spells in their wake. Confringo and Flipendo splits in particular darted towards the talkative one, and a pleased grin resulted towards his worsening condition. Then, as quickly as it had appeared—gone, with Delilah now bound on the floor and herself victimized by the equivalent of a mini hurricane. Easing her muscles with a rigorous roll of the neck, Phaedra reset her stance; a target in sight.Doing as strategized (x)

Effects: Petrified [1] to Phaedra
There was something awfully exciting about a game that wasn't entirely one-sided and consisted of a constant back and forth. And while Alan had to admit that the Ravenclaw trio made the stronger start into the tournament, the Slytherins weren't just willing to let them run off and claim victory early. They would proceed to fight themselves back into a position where victory wasn't an awful distance away either. While the Ravenclaw team were one woman down as Delilah broke free from petrification, Phaedra and Peri attempted to team up in taking down Bridget. The latter would succeed in throwing the viper off guard with a well placed Knockback Jinx, however Phaedra would miss her at the very same time with what could have been a nasty Blasting Curse. The Viridian Vipers would too combine their strengths in an attempt to takedown Phaedra. As both Hanako and Bridget trapped the older Ravenclaw with two well-placed Knockback Jinxes, Opeila once again showcased a great understanding of even advanced magic such as the Bodybinding Curse. While Pericles, her second target, managed to escape, Phaedra was not so lucky. Alan could only assumed that the jinxes hitting her at the same time were a well-timed distraction and Alan couldn't help but think of this as something other than a cunning trap. He was quite curious how this would go now.

@Phaedra Stavrou | @Pericles Dralt | @Bridget Collins | @Hanako Tone | @Opeila WintersDel was doing alright, happy to get back up again, but she looked over to Phae who got blasted by some spells, she didn't seem to be doing nearly as well as Del was. Although as far as the individual teams went, ravenclaw definitely looked better going than slytherin was at that moment. Hopefully it would stay that way as long as possible.

If one thing had been drilled into her since her first duelling season, it was this: if you were backed into a corner, you at least went down swinging. And they weren't there yet, but a corner was certainly forming, Hanako having seen better days and her own bruises and burns starting to hurt. It was simple, but it was effective, the way Flipendo hit like a graceless punch to the gut.
She had to admit, it was distinctly satisfying the way her and Hanako nailed Phaedra as one, the arc of the spells lit up in blue. It would have been more satisfying had she not had to dance away from the worst of another explosion straight into a countering Flipendo, though. It knocked the air out of her lungs--not the best combo with the flippy gravity--and her face screwed up. Yeah, this was about the worst she'd felt in a duel all year.

Time was not in their favor judging by the looks of both Hanako and Bridget. Of course she hadn't expected Hanako to keep standing for a long time, but Opeila had been in a duel with their captain before. Bridget was more than capable of pulling her own weight, but apparently their opponents knew that as well.
Well, if they thought that they were going to go down without a fight, they'd better think again.

Perhaps she had grown cocky amid the safety of her team, because before Phaedra knew it, she was sprawled out on the floor croaking a gasp as if it were her very last. Then, as a painful sensation she had known all too well, every limb jolted centrally, transfixing each muscle into place. Or rather, such was her perception of the order of events; a dogpiling like this could do a number on precise recalling. No, she was much more concerned with her gnawing and intense hunger for air. With her wind already knocked clean and a diaphragm now temporarily frozen, Phaedra’s usual wiggling of the fingers to stimulate mobility would instead show as a frantic clawing of the ground below.Doing as strategized (x)

"Flipendo!" Another quick shot, another desperate glance to the sides, assessing his teammates warily. While Pericles remained unhindered, having dodged what little aggression came his way, his allies were being chipped away at. He braced for the turning point with a grim expression. Phaedra was in some trouble, but at least paralysis removed her from the list of targets.

There was something about an effort being made to push back when faced with a disadvantage that Alan could admire. This was the case with the Slytherin team who was while slightly younger and equal threat and cunning in their approach. As Phaedra forcefully regained control of her body as she tore through the magical bind that was invisible to the eye. The spell wasn't quite as effectively cast as Alan had others seen do, so it would have run out just moments in anyway, but Alan could allow himself to be impressed nonetheless. However Pei did not seem to want to give them any rest as she immediately cast a new spell that would connect once more with Delilah. For the duration of the duel Opeila seemed to have one goal in mind and that goal only and who was Alan to judge her for it, when clearly she was being successful in her endeavors? Delilah would feel her muscles locking up quite painfully in the process, but not before she was able to cast a nasty Confringo. As the spell rushed towards the vipers, Bridget was quick to cast a shield charm that sent the blast hurtling back at its caster which served as quite the painful reminder to Delilah who had no chance but to take it. Hanako seemed less lucky and took the full hit, sending him tumbling to the ground unconscious as the ground below him gave in. Already having lost his footing the Wind jinx sent by Pericles was just needlessly cruel as the male viper crumbled under the assault of spells. A pair of nurse aides were quick to move Hanako's body out of further harms way, as the boy was brought into the Medical Wing to receive proper treatment. The same wind jinx that had gone for the now fallen viper had been spread to also go for Bridget and despite her best efforts to keep her shield up, it didn't seem to withstand the pressure of both the Blasting Curse and the Wind Jinx, piercing her shield in the process. Caught off guard by this the girl was hit by the jinx and hit hard. Who knew what would happen now? It certainly did not bode well for Slytherin to already be a man down. However so was Ravenclaw due to the spell that had been used to pester their most mature witches for the entire duration of the duel. Alan would be a liar if he were to ever claim a lack of excitement in this duel.

Summer Duels, Game 1: Ravenclaw vs Slytherin
Ventus and Confringo packed a punch, torrential wind followed by a blasting force, striking one opponent from the roster and bringing a second close in line. Pericles used the pause to recover, rolling tension from his shoulders. It also offered an opportunity to address what he had tried tuning out earlier: the haunting sound of Phaedra's fingernails scrabbling against the stage. As she broke free from the body-bind, he glanced her over, offering a low "Are you alright...?"
Pericles peered sideways as @Eun-ji Lee Hunt stepped forth from the crowd. He flashed the fellow Ravenclaw duellist a quick, curious smile. No wonder she moved the moment someone struck the stage; she was something of a token healer. It would take mere moments for Hanako to be carted off for aid, little more than a quick breather, enough to wipe his brow and check in on his teammates. As he braced for Alan to set the duel back into motion, he added as a quick aside: "Hold tight, Del." Knowing she hardly had a choice in the matter, he spoke with trace of good-natured teasing.
