Second year was over. But it also was decidedly not. Decidedly by Maila and their mother, with very little input from Olli. So they were taking Summer Camp.

Upon arrival they had come through Hogsmeade and into the location for the camp: the grounds of Hogwarts. Someone had explained a bunch of rules that he had not listened to at all, and then they had been sent to their cabins.

Sensing his first opportunity for a prank, Olli dropped back from Klaus and Maila, but still headed towards their shared cabin. He was annoyed Alaric hadn't been sorted into the same cabin, having a preference of him over Klaus when it came to pranks, but they would still be able to do other things together.

Olli watched Maila and Klaus go in, waited, grew tired of waiting, and burst in behind them.
"Hei häviäjät. Miten menee? Et tiedä sitä, mutta meillä on hauskaa yhdessä tänä kesänä! Huh, ehkä leiri ei ole niin paha¹."
He surveyed the room, thankfully noticing Maila's simple eye roll and hidden smile, before taking in everyone standing inside and saw that they would be sharing bunk beds. He wasn't sure if he and Klaus would share, but if they didn't that was fine- more chances for pranks.

As he stood there, he would allow conversation to continue. Hoping no one but Maila would be able to understand. Oh, and of course hoping the girls had noticed him. Because pranks and girls were what Olli Laine was all about.

Alyssea watched as everyone began to pile in. She bowed her head again as she greeted everyone. "I'm Alyssea Brown, but just Alyssea is fine. I'm from Hogwarts."

Everyone's English seemed pretty good, but when Olli barged in speaking a language she had never heard, she was thrown off guard. So far, there were students from Ilvermorny, Mahoutokoro, Castelobruxo, and Durmstrang. She would have to remind herself to be patient when it came to language barriers and misunderstandings, but she could do that! She didn't live abroad for more than half her life just to be an English imperialist.

How much Japanese did she remember? She was there when she was almost six years old but left not long after. She made a mental note to try to remember the most basic phrases before they slept tonight.

Bubba seemed to be her only Hogwarts cabinmate at this point. Would there be more to come? She hoped so.

"I don't think we've fully figured out who's rooming with who yet. It's rooms of two and only one gender per," Alyssea said.

The girls in the cabin so far were her, Kanae, Lorelai, and Maila. Once more people arrived, their choices wouldn't be limited. She was a bottom bunk person, so hopefully whoever she did room with wouldn't mind the top bunk.

SUMMER CAMP 2023

Ah, yes, the sweet summer. When the sun shines, the birds sing, and the Hogwarts students head off to summer camp! Ethan's first year at Hogwarts was a whirlwind of quidditch matches, magical antics, and most importantly, trying his best to avoid all those dreaded academics and homework (who's got time for that noise anyway?!). But let's be real—who could forget about the endless homework assignments and exams? Academic life just isn't for everyone.

He's wearing shorts and a loose-fitting blue t-shirt (because who wants to wear long sleeves and pants in this heat?). Kim Kardashian, Ethan's beloved cat, is perched on his arm as he enters his cabin at the summer camp. Kim jumps from his arms to explore the cabin and see if there's anything worth... marking her territory on. Quick as a flash, he grabs his cat before she gets up to any mischief. “No, Kim! Not there,” he scolds her half-heartedly. “Sorry about Kim. She's usually such a troublemaker.” He scoops up his companion and attempts to make apologies for her misbehaviour. “She's so cute, though, you can't stay mad at her for too long.”

Ethan realised there were already eight people inside. Awkward. But he refused to let this first impression ruin his summer. “Hello, everyone! My name is Ethan Smith, and I'm excited to get to know you all,” he says as he welcomes the group with a bright smile.

Very important note: Klaus is a jerk, a complete idiot and pureblood. Please, don't take personally what he may say or think, these are not my personal thoughts. Anything, blame him, not me!

Coming to a summer camp at Hogwarts was not the idea that most pleased him, the school was loud, filled with silly people and not to mention all type of breeds that brought shame to the wizarding world, some of them, in his opinion, would be better in zoos then in a school of magic. How honorable families were able to allow such a disgrace to happen at such a prestigious school would forever remain a mystery to Klaus. But sometimes, sacrifices needed to be made in the name of his and Durmstrang's reputation, they were invited and it was a matter of politeness, honor and pride to be there representing his institute. Even without as much enthusiasm as the people walking along side him...

Maila seemed to walk as if she were entering one of the most incredible places ever, looking around at each and every event with a smile that was so characteristic of her. With a harmoniously happy expression on her face, she was probably the only person in this world without pure blood who had managed to elicit some sympathy and respect from Klaus.

The four of them had arrived more or less at same time, but Olli stayed behind for some unknown reasons to Klaus and Alaric was heading to another cabin, Augurey, while he, Maila and Olli would be staying at the Phoenix cabin. Klaus almost laughed when heard the names of their respective cabins, how ironic, they will be in the majestic, powerful and magnificent bird's hut and Alaric in a poor greenish version of it. Pathetic and silly like his twin, How fitting! he thought scathingly while a smirk came to his lips. Like if his brother has been able to read his thoughts, he sent him a look that looked like a warning, but no...it wasn't for that, was because of Maila of course. Klaus smirk grown almost to a grin, "Don't worry little brother, she'll be well taken care of!" He assured him in a low voice, squeezing his shoulder and patting him twice, then, with a wink, Klaus followed in the girl's footsteps as they headed for the cabin.

Klaus sighed as soon as he entered the cabin, the boy looked around with disappointment being clearly stamped in his face, but then his eyes fell on the professor who was there and his expression changed to a more polite one, obviously he didn't want to appear rude in the presence of a professor, even if they taught at Hogwarts... "Good morning." He greeted nodding slightly and briefly looking around towards everyone in there. "Klaus Havertz" he told in a monotone before turning to Olli who had arrived a minute after him and Maila, the boy could be as loud and Alaric! Merlin... Clearing his throat Klaus stated, "I think me and Olli will share a room, right?" He asked towards the dark-haired boy, his eyebrow lift in a expression that was half an interrogation half a demand.

Bubba had scarecely made it back to the main room of the cabin when someone started to talk to him. He seemed very excited and boistrous (and honestly a bit loud) and Bubba had heard him introduce himself to some of the other campers as Cyrus. Bubba took his question as being a roundabout way of asking if he would like to have a roommate and Bubba considered the question for a moment. Bubba wasn't sure for a moment because the boy was a bit loud but he was also American and Bubba liked hanging with Americans, they reminded him of where he came from. Bubba smiled back at the boy and, as always when he talked with an American, he slipped back into his New England accent, "I had no plans but I figure I have the room with someone, you're welcome to join me. I don't get a chance to hang with many people from back home!" He finished with a smile and a note of excitement in his own voice.

Bubba was happy to see that while there were a few people he recognized as Hogwarts students, there were a number of foreign students in the tent as well. He always looked forward to a new opportunity to meet fellow witches and wizards from around the world.

Lorelai had smiled hearing all the hello's. A girl, who introduced herself as Kanae, came up to her and asked if she wanted to bunk together. "I uh, I'm so sorry, but I'm already bunking with someone else." she had lied, but she was nervous, because she had seen another girl who seemed nice and she didn't expect a girl to come up to her and ask her to bunk together. "We could still be friends." she grinned. The other girl she had seen another girl, who introduced herself as Maila, and she seemed nice. Well, she thought that about everyone. So, Lorelai came up to her and spoke "Hey! I'm Lorelai, do you wanna bunk together?" the girl patiently waited for a response, she hoped she would say yes, if she didn't, would she return to Kanae? It would be embarrassing. Was it even a good idea to come to camp? Maybe, she missed her parents, and her siblings, but she really wanted to come to Hogwarts. She had already come to Europe, London, twice, but never Scotland. It was a bit cold, even in the Summer, well, not cold, but windy. The sun was out. The girl crossed her arms, not because Maila was taking time, because she wasn't. Lorelai only did this, because it was a habit.

Cyrus slipped his hands into his pockets and smiled warmly at Bubba as the boy answered, to Cyrus's surprise, with a New England accent. Cyrus hadn't picked up on that before... Right? Perhaps he hadn't heard Bubba say enough. But the specific way he spoke was... Familiar. It was staunchly American.

In fact, Bubba had said he didn't get a chance to hang out with people from back home... Cyrus's smile widened to show all of his teeth and maybe a bit of his gums, too. 'You're from the US?' he asked giddily, clasping his hands together in excitement. 'And I'd love to join you! Thank you so much!'

Really, Cyrus was touched. So rarely did his interactions with others go well that he was constantly searching for one thing: friendship. He wasn't sure if Bubba would make a good friend, or if Bubba could handle his exuberance, but the fact that the other boy was willing to try certainly was a good sign.

Cyrus bent down to pick up his things, which he had finally realised he had dropped. His cheeks reddened slightly, showing his embarrassment with his own obliviousness, and he chuckled at his own incompetence to try and pretend he was actually not embarrassed. 'Say... The cabin's bigger than I thought. Where was it you were bunking?'

Alyssea smiled as more people joined the cabin. How many, exactly, were staying in Phoenix? When she went to check her assignment, her name was one of the first, and she hadn’t bothered to check the rest in her excitement to see the cabin.

“No, Kim! Not there,” another boy yelled after his pet.

Alyssea looked to see the little cat, almost blending into the wood with its orange coat, creeping around the place and laughed. The boy apologized for his cat’s behaviour but Alyssea shook her head. “It’s alright. Kim is very cute. How old is she?”

He introduced himself to the cabin. Ethan Smith. By the sounds of it, he wasn’t from one of the other schools, so he was from Hogwarts. “Nice to meet you, Ethan,” Alyssea said, “I’m Alyssea Brown. You’re… from Hogwarts, right?”

Already, she figured out who to avoid. Klaus Havertz did not spare a second to introduce himself. She didn’t want to judge too early, but Klaus claiming Olli as a bunk buddy without as much of an option to say no scared her. Maybe they were friends? Already knew each other before coming in?

Either way, she didn’t want to butt into that conflict so early in the camp. They still had a month left with each other.

Maila smiled and nodded at Alyssea's words before turning to her brother who barged in rather rudely and spoke their mother tongue, pretending to not know how to speak English. She smiled slightly but also gave a rather amused eye roll, focusing her eyes on him and shaking her head. Her twin brother always had a prank in his pocket and he could not be kept from doing them. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't not say anything. „Olli, pidätkö tätä muiden mielestä yhtä hauskana kuin sinä?“Olli, do you think the others find this as funny as you do? she asked him before turning her attention back to the other cabin members as a boy with an absolutely adorable cat walked in. Smiling at Ethan, she responded with introducing herself and saying that his cat was, in fact, very cute.

Klaus, who Maila was still standing beside, said or...asked? if Olli and him would stay in a room together and while Maila would have of course liked to stay with her friend and brother, she knew there was only space for two and mixing genders was not allowed. Besides, she would most definitely have an amazing time with any girl that she would stay with in a room and her cabin members also seemed quite nice so far. Gladly, Maila didn't even have to wait long until a girl came up to her and asked if they could bunk together. A bright smile spread across Maila's lips. She wouldn't have had a problem asking someone to bunk together but she appreciated that Lorelai came and asked her specifically. „Of course, I would love to!“ she beamed. „I can't wait to unpack and get out of this uncomfortable uniform.“ Maila laughed. She did feel quite warm and it would be nice to change into something else and then perhaps go explore the campsite a little.
