The Sad Bird Club
1st of July 2023
Following a quick stroll down to the campgrounds with their belongings - or getting a portkey directly to Hogsmeade, students were escorted directly to the Campgrounds and registered again. It was, at this stage that they were given the rules for the month. These were pretty obvious but they were stated again by Professor Jensen, simply because she did not trust students to listen. She also wanted to be sure that the visiting students did not have the excuse of being 'unaware' of the rules. Where necessary, the accompanying adults from each of the schools would repeat the rules in their school's language for people who didn't have English as their first language.
Camp rules were very simple. Obey the curfew, follow usual school rules, don't wander off into the forest, don't be a giant jerk - you know, all of the usual things. Failure to comply would result in a detention, or worse, banned from attending future camps.
Eight log cabins provided lodging for campers, each one with a beast-bearing flag for which they were named. Three were the Avian cabins: Augurey, Occamy, and Phoenix. Across from these were the three Equine cabins: Thestral, Kelpie, and Unicorn. At either end were two cabins intended for adults only but for this year's festivities repurposed for student use: the Hippogriff and Dragon cabins. Those creatures occupying the enchanted flags mutely flexed in a constant show of "friendly" competition: beating wings, clacking beaks, stamping hooves, and soundlessly tossing their heads.
Every structure appeared deceptively humble in size on the outside, while the interiors were enlarged by extension charms, making them wide beyond means and quite comfortable. These were fully furnished with curtained bunks, personal chests, dressers, wood-burning stoves, and plush floor rugs. The layouts were strikingly similar to the dorm rooms back at the castle. Rather than having House themes, however, they featured nuances of the beast on their flag.
During registration, they also all received their cabin allocations. Students were then escorted to the cabins by an adult and given some time to put their bags down, secure themselves a bed and settle into the accommodation that they would be staying at for the month. The first event was ready too - students were able to attend the sugar fair once they had settled in.
The group of students that arrived here would be the members of the Augurey Cabin.
Augurey
The muted but beautiful furnishing of the cabin is a combination of grey-brown woods and muted green linens. What it lacks in colour, it makes up for in its serenity. An expansion charm leaves adequate, comfortable seating. [Image Link] [Image Link]. The space always smells like a field after a soft rain and when looking out the window, regardless of the weather outside a gentle patter can be heard on a tin roof that sounds like rainfall as well as evidence of a light drizzle when gazing out a window. There is something rather tranquil and serene about the whole atmosphere of these cabins. It was almost like they were on a peaceful retreat, in the middle of nowhere.
The sleeping arrangements were beds that were simple bunks, each privately curtained for some semblance of privacy [Image Link] with a personal trunk assigned to each student at the bottom of the bed. Regardless of the weather outside, the gentle patter continued at night to help people sleep to the soothing sounds of the rain.

Cassie is very excited to start the summer camp. After all, this is the first summer camp she has ever attended. After arriving at the campgrounds, she is led to her cabin-- the Augurey Cabin. She walks inside, another student is already there. She does not know who it is, the boy seems to be a foreigner.
'Hello! I am Cassie Jiang, a Ravenclaw student of Hogwarts. You seem to be an Asian, let me take a guess... are you from Mahoutokoro? What is your name? And your year? Nice to see you here in the Augurey Cabin. By the way, I will also be hosting one of the activities this summer. You will see me at the DIY fair, teaching. Are you coming? I bet it will be great fun! Are you going to play any sports? I am a member of the Quidditch team. Tell me something about Japan and your school, I longed to hear something about them. By the way, how is Hogwarts? Did you came here for the two balls this year? What do you think of Hogwarts?'
Cassie finds her top bunk bed and lays on it, staring on the top, listening to the boy's reply.

Entering the cabin and open to interaction.
Another year of Summer Camp. Simon had attended the first one just after his First Year at Hogwarts and before his Second Year began but he didn't attend last year's that was held at the Quidditch Stadium in London (although he did get to participate in the broom race). He thought back to that Summer Camp at Hogwarts - the spin the bottle game from Hell, the truth or dare game where he had to exchange clothing with a fellow student, the arguments with his then girlfriend Haley Rose, and then skinny-dipping in the Great Lake only to be caught by fellow Hufflepuff Paige Grant.
Simon had his slip in hand that said Augurey Cabin, his home for the first month of Summer. He remembered seeing some augureys in person - mournful looking magical birds that were actually quite fascinating. Their song, or cry as some would call it, signaled that rain was about to fall.
When he entered the cabin, he looked around it. All the neutral grays and whites made good sense for the theme of the cabin, since this was the color of the birds. There was also the sound of rain and he found that to be a nice touch and it was quite calming. It was going to be like ASMR or ambient music to hopefully help inspire his music writing late at night when he couldn't sleep.
Two were already in the cabin when he entered, a boy that was claiming his bunk and a girl who was asking him questions as she did the same.
"Hello, hello, roomies!" he said as he flashed a smile and gave a peace sign as he kept walking, not wanting to disrupt their conversation but also wanting to be polite and to greet them. He went for a bunk closer to the back corner, sort of tucked in the shadows from the entrance and the windows - perfect for a dhampir.
Be kind to one another. (*iNPC is Miles Thatcher)

The summer camp, an opportunity for her to meet future schoolmates and possible future housemates, better not blow it. She had been assigned to the Augurey Cabin, she didn’t know much about it other than that it had been given an odd nickname, ‘The Sad Bird Club’, hopefully her cabinmates didn’t reflect this attitude, that would be a bit problematic.
She opened the door of the cabin to peek inside, three people were already there, one of them asking a barrage of questions, another having just greeted everyone. The cabin was exactly what she had hoped it to be, a muted but serene and comfortable place, and her cabinmates seemed nice enough. Not wanting to disturb them, she quietly crept in, trying to avoid as much attention as possible, not that that would work, of course, as the door creaked slightly as she shut it.
In an attempt to avoid their gazes, which she didn’t even want to check if they were even directed at her, she quickly rushed to a bunk, throwing her luggage on top of the top one before scaling it to perch on top of it. Turning her attention back to her cabinmates, she waved, trying to seem natural. What am I even worried about, they seem like nice enough, I think.

RPing as Zophyr Qethnis from Uagadou Genderfluid, pronouns at the moment: they/them☽ Kirundi | French | English | Swahili | Arabic | Tswana | Xhosa ☾Hogwarts was weird. That was Zophyr's first thought as they arrived on the campus through the portkey with the rest of their school. It was in a castle. Who taught students in a castle? Especially in a cold country like this one, where winters had to be insufferable! Magic could only do so much. But anyway. The grounds were nice, with a lot more plants than the kid was used to.

Zophyr had never been to a summer camp before. In fact, that was probably the reason they were here in the first place. They were just too curious to see what it would be like. Of course, they missed their family quite a lot, and maybe they would have preferred just to go home, but... they wanted to see what a summer camp was like. Especially in Scotland.
As it turned out, summer camps had cabins. Cabins were these seemingly small buildings (more like shacks, really) that turned out to be ginormous on the inside with beds for lots of different people. And you had to sleep around people from different schools, different backgrounds, and different ages. As Zophyr entered their designated cabin, they found four kids - two who looked their age, one a couple of years older, and one a little younger. The people seemed nice. One of them was rather chatty, but the other three looked calmer. The cabin, though... the cabin was something else.
It was extremely dreary. To others, it may have been calming or relaxing, but not to Zophyr. There was too much grey, and it smelled and sounded like rain. They wondered if this was always the case - would they have to fall asleep to the sound of rain? They weren't sure whether they could do it. Rain was not something they were used to. And there was nowhere near enough color. But they would have to make do, they guessed. They would just... spend more time outside.
The four others had already chosen a bunk, so Zophyr decided to do so as well. They did not want to be anywhere near the window - they knew that thanks to magic no one could look in from outside, but it was still unnerving - and sleeping near the exit was probably safer. Someone had already taken the bottom bed of the bunk Zophyr had chosen, so the kid claimed the top one, climbing up the ladder to put their stuff on it.
Perhaps it was a good idea to let the person below know, though, that they had taken the top bunk. Walking over to the couch where two kids were talking, they waited for a break in the conversation before saying quietly, "Just thought I'd let you know I took the top bunk over there," and pointing. "Just because it seems one of you guys took the bottom one."

Alaric bounded inside the cabin, not a care in the world if he interrupted anything. He had arrived shortly via portkey with his brother, Klaus. When he had learned that his brother was going to be in the same cabin as Maila, his best friend, Alaric had glared at Klaus and issued a warning to be nice to her! If he ever makes her cry, well, Alaric was determined to make him pay!
Back to his cabin, Alaric turned his attention to the inhabitants and they were all on a bed apart from a boy! He didn’t care which bunk he got to be honest. "Hallo," he greeted, gliding into the room with the confidence he does in his dorm at Durmstrang. "Wie geht es allen?" he asked them all, plopping down onto a free bed. Hello. How is everyone?
He kicked his shoes off, because why not, and closed his eyes. Letting out a stretch, a noise of relief entered the room as he stretched out his back on the comfy mattress. "Alaric Leopold Havertz," he greeted, man he was so excited! Alaric twisted so that his legs were still on the bed but his torso - and thus his head and arms - hung over the side so he could look at everyone and his necklaces bashed into his face too!
He was getting very antsy due to the fact he was excited at both the camp and meeting new people. This was his first time actually attending camp! There also seemed to be some older people in here.
"I come from Durmstrang! And I am eleven years old," he told them, his thick Germanic accent filling the luscious room. "My twin brother is here too, but he is in a different hut. My friend Malia is there too! I am sad that she is not with me," he rambled, he thought some of his words even mumbled together as he placed his hands on the floor so he could push his head off the floor. "Hullo," he muttered, already feeling the blood rushing to his head. Well not really. Not yet.
He had a feeling this would be fun!

Sabine's idea of a good summer break wasn't exactly aligned with staying in a cabin and watching over Hogwarts students. Either way, though, she supposed there weren't better things that this particular cabin. Sure, the Augurey cabin was a little monochromatic, but it was awfully chic and quite cute by her standards. Besides, with magic causing the interior to expand greatly, she figured there wasn't much to worry about space-wise.july 1, 2023.
As she came upon the cabin, Sabine strained to hear beyond the walls. A few students seemed to already be there. Cordial. Her boot-clad feet made the trek up to the door, and she waved it open with a brisk flick of her wand. Behind her, luggage hovered at head level and her cat, Opal, padded along at her feet.
"Good morning, loves. Welcome to camp!" She greeted, stopping at the bottom bunk next to the window. Not her first choice, a bunk bed, but she figured staying next to that window might provide some reading light in the daytime. Sabine set her things beneath the bed, straightening out and adjusting her extravagant outfit, perhaps too much for an average day at summer camp. "I don't recognize some faces, so for our visiting students, I am Sabine Blumenthal, the Hogwarts Care of Magical Creatures Professor and your chaperone for camp."
Sure, it was sort of awkward to spend all her time with students. She couldn't unwind with that tell-tale Long Island laugh or gossip with her close friends (Felix, come home, we miss you), but getting to know potential students was always a plus.
Her gaze fell on Alaric. "That doesn't look so comfortable, sugar."@Lucian Mornstern (as Alaric Havertz), additional interactions encouraged/open.

Welcoming those coming in
Another girl came in and when she found what bunk she wanted, she gave a way and Simon smiled widely and gave her a wave from himself before opening up his satchel and beginning to unpack a few of his belongings. He placed some of the things that would be most used on the bed, such as his Bible, one of his muggle books of classic literature, and a resource for magical medicine. He also placed out some of his notebooks and his quill. He then figured out a way to rig up a Hufflepuff scarf in black and yellow (of course) to be a sort of sling for his pet rat Rascal to sleep in.
He also gave a smile and another peace sign to the others entering the cabin as well, including the one from Durmstrang. "I hear you, Alaric, mate. I too am sadly not in the same cabin as my girl. Not cool." He was hoping beyond anything that he and AngelFyre would share quarters for Summer Camp but alas, that wasn't in the plans.
It was just as he was placing his rat onto the scarf sling that the door opened and in came the Care of Magical Creatures professor who would be their chaperone, pet cat and all. Simon looked to Rascal and hoped that this cat wasn't one of those rat-chasing cats. "Greetings Professor Blumenthal. Welcome aboard!"
