The race seemed to be going well for others and not so well for others. Some, were having pretty much nothing but successful casts and evades while others seemed like they couldn't catch a break. Foster couldn't help but feel bad and that the weather seemed to be effecting the accuracy and evasion skills of the players.

He took a deep breath and watched as they all begun to get dangerously close to the squid. He knew that the giant squid would definitely be an obstacle that would cause trouble. He himself was terrified and he wasn't even in the race. Earlier that morning he had watched from the sidelines and saw both his team the Ravenclaws, and the Hufflepuffs failed miserably at passing the Giant Squid. He hoped not to see the same fate with the Slytherins and the Gryffindors.

However, despite everything that is going on Vale and June focused on returning to their brooms and return to the race.

It was a relatively slow start, despite all the spells being flung. Highly unusually considering the pace of these events. They were known to be fast; yet, presently everyone seemed keen on hanging behind. It was all strategy, surely. Or maybe everyone wanted to get a nice look at the scenery now painted grey by the oncoming rain. Nevertheless, Xailah was content with the present state of things. A new formula was always refreshing- even if she did like the speed and the thrill that came with the persistent chase.

Following Slytherins lead, the metamorph sent Marina spiraling into the rainclouds above- mentally praying the younger girl wouldn't panic and have an upset at her sudden ascension to the heavens. Ah. Well. She would probably be fine. The cub had suffered far worse during these things, what was a little spook to her? Attention went to the rest of the track, where Slytherin was making... steady-ish... progress to the front of the pack. They had a few players on the ground, bad news for them. It was then Xailah spied the small frame of one of the Gryffindors trying to drive a snake off his broom. The boy was going for a two-kill streak, by the looks of it. Unfortunately, his blatch would fall short. Despite the failure, his effort was enough to bring a chuckle to Xailah's chest. "Look at him." She droned to anyone within earshot, humored by the brazen act from the newest recruit. "Kid has got some spunk." Yeah. He had nothing to worry about. He was going to do just fine here.

Ying was used by now that broom racing is a dangerous and fierce game. That everyone in it was aware of what they were getting into. But still, it was hard for the young girl to see her team to struggle through spells and obstacles along the path.

It was itching having to stand on the sidelines and watch it all happen without actually being able to help her team. Ying wished she could grab her broom and just jump into the race!

Last time Wyatt was in the lead, he was struck down by explosives and arrows. He suspected he was going to be targeted again. Luckily, he was far higher than the lions’ spells could reach, but another racer rose up, showing themself in his peripherals. Wyatt didn’t like what that could mean, and braced himself to dodge some arrows.

----Vale still felt the urge to just continue on swimming instead. She was beginning to wonder why nobody else wished to join her. The waterfall was beautiful. Immediately, Vale is reminded of Colin's words about swimming. Even her fellow broom racer filled with the same chaotic urges was encouraging her to return to racing. Prehaps just swimming around was a bad idea then.

Fine. It wasn't like there was anything to set on fire where she was anyway.

Colin smirked as his mate Keith tried to blatch him. That was a good move, and after the race he'd congratulate him for it. Colin smoothly scooted aside, watching as the Gryffindork whiz by him. For right now, though, the important thing was to concentrate on the race ahead. And since the pack was zooming out over the water, that could mean only thing.

For a moment (and only a moment as there was a race to return to) she took stock of the race as it was. Percival had bogies coming out of his nose, Colin was careening toward the squid, and Vale was… swimming. Wait, no, she was going back to shore. Thank Merlin.

It was taking quite a bit of willpower for Della not to go flying face first into the lake. She just wanted to get a closer look at the squid! But she was captain for pete's sake, she needed to keep her eyes on the prize. Two snakes were zooming high above the track, so she shot off a spell at one of the green blurs. It hit. See, she could concentrate on things that mattered.
