The 40 HP only apply to a crit success. Crit success is the opposite of a crit fail, so if the wisdom roll is a 20.

So that means that it would be -20 HP? I feel stupid for asking this

If someone successfully casts the spell, the target would float for a bit and them fall, losing 20 HP.

If the wisdom roll was a 20, then it is a crit success, so when the target falls, they would lose 40 HP.

What happens if I rolled the Wisdom and got 9, but the WDC of the spell is nine also?

Hi! Can a healing magic exceed the HP capacity?

Ex. A had 90/100 HP. B wanted to cast a healing spell/give healing potion to A but it healed 50 HP. Could A's HP be 140?

firstly, you cannot use potions.

for your second question, yes. for your first question, i believe the answer is yes but i’m unsure.

The only way to 'Overheal' would be if the person who is healing has a Jackalope Antler Wandmaker ability, which is capped at 10% of their total HP over their HP Max, I believe.
