As he talked with Angelique, Mat was surprised to find himself also having a conversation with Andy Menton, a strikingly cute Ilvermorny boy he had just met a few days prior. "Andy! It's nice to see you, little man. You look nice too!" He gave Andy a fist bump before the other boy disappeared into the maze.
Mathis was about to answer Angelique, but he quickly stopped himself once he heard a soft voice from over his shoulder. He turned around and was more than excited to be greeted by Charlie, his wait for his date was over! All that was left was to finally enter the maze with her, and then the true ball could begin.
"I'm going with the mademoiselle-" Mat took Charlie's hand and pressed a kiss to the top of it, the same way he had seen his father do a million times before. His father had always told him that it was the polite thing to do, after all. "-Charlie, how are you? That dress looks wonderful on you!" Mat considered himself lucky, Charlie was quite a looker. It seemed that most of the girls at Hogwarts were pretty, save for a certain blonde Hufflepuff.
He was about to offer Angelique to come with the two of them, when what appeared to be another Koldovstoretz student walked by and said something to Angelique in... Russian, maybe? Oh, the two of them must be going together! How endearing! The fleeting moment of happiness Mat felt that Angelique had a date was quickly replaced by mild jealousy. Damn, he should've asked her to go with him when they were still quill pals. Ah, whatever, too late now.
"Mademoiselle, let's go into the maze now, yes?" Mat asked Charlie, motioning to the entrance. Plenty of students had already headed inside, and Mathis definitely didn't want to be left out. "It's rather enchanting, but the colors are still a bit dimmed for me. Hm." Mathis pressed his lips into a line, and then turned to face Charlie. "Ah, well, I guess you'll just have to tell me all about the stuff you can see over on the left, alright?"

Lloyd had found a friend, the one he had met in Paris that winter. he smiled at Angelique, as she recognized him. He replied to her, saying "no - i am alone today. my girlfriend.. well now ex girlfriend, is gone - not dead but gone from my life. So.... yes i am alone." Lloyd felt uncomfortable, not sure why he had brought his love - his EX love Eloise up to this girl he had only met once before. Angelique went pink as another boy came up to them, and lloyd recognized him. Lloyd smiled and said "Mathis, my friend! how are you?" The younger boy went to the same school Lloyd did, and despite not being the closest of friends Lloyd still considered him a friend. Lloyd listened as the other people interacted, and then when Angelique asked mathis if he would go into the maze with her, and he turned her down in favor of his date, Lloyd spoke up and said "Angelique, we could go through the maze together - i am slightly hesitant to go alone, and would be honored if you would accompany me!" If she did not accept, Lloyd would make his way through the maze on his own. Realizing he had spoken all in french, he repeated himself in english for the benefit of the non french speakers in their little group. "i just asked Angelique if she would accompany me through the maze" he said matter of factly, as he was just stating the facts. Lloyd then said "my name is Lloyd matthews thomas, to those of you who do not know me." Lloyd smiled at everyone in the group, hoping that the few he did not know would introduce themselves.

The time seemed to have flown by since their first date at the Fall Ball. Bubba and Sam had fallen into a pattern of normalcy in their relationship that suited them. It was fun, comfortable, and loving. Bubba felt like with Sam by his side he had the strength to do anything. Well, except be a prefect it turned out. It had been about a month since the... incident... and Bubba hadn't really talked to anyone about it. It was what it was though. He'd felt the need to defend Sam's honor and he had no regrets at all. If anything he felt that no longer being a prefect freed him up to be more like himself again. He liked who he was an he was embracing it.

Bubba stood in his dormitory and picked the lint off of his outfit. He wondered where his father had found it. The theme for this ball was the Renaissance. The look really wasn't him, he couldn't imagine people squeezing into the shit all the time back in the day, but he just had to deal with it, as annoying as it was. And it was definitely worth being uncomfortable to spend a night of unbridled happiness with Sam.

He combed his hair one last time and looked at himself in the mirror. He looked good in his estimation, he wasn't sure what else he could do, short of a change into a more sensible wardrobe. Oh well, time to go. He'd learned his lesson this time, after the last ball where he could tell Sam was getting cold. He checked to make sure his leather satchel was closed. Inside it was a navy blue cloak he could give to her if she got cold. Not a flower, but something far more useful.

He walked down the stairs into the common room and looked for Sam. She wasn't there yet, but he knew she'd be along soon. In fact, he only had to wait a minute until he saw her descending the staircase. She was, as always resplendent in her beauty. Her blue flowery dress fit her perfectly, and he hair beautiful brown hair was done up perfectly. He smiled at her as she walked over to him. As she walked over to him and asked what he thought he smiled even brighter, "My darling, you look absolutely beautiful." He couldn't believe his luck. Once again his date was the most beautiful girl in the school.

Then she gave him a gift and kiss him on the cheek. A daisy. It was beautiful. He took the daisy in his hand and after she kissed him on the cheek, he leaned in and kissed her on the lips. "It's beautiful, thank you," he said with another smile and threaded the daisy through one of his button holes. "I didn't bring you a flower but I did bring something," he said as he indicated his satchel, "I remembered the last ball and this time I brought a cloak in case you got cold. It should even match your dress." He said with another smile.

As they walked towards the ball and he noticed the music, Bubba giggled at Sam's comment. "Oh, I don't know, I reckon you can make your disco dance moves work with just about anything," he said with a laugh before adding, "I'm certainly down to try it."

He felt her tense up as she saw the maze and instinctively pulled her closer to him. "Don't worry baby, we're going to go through this one together, we'll be just fine."

All in all, Galahad was very pleased to be back at Hogwarts. He had been right in his thinking he needed a real change when he'd left the Ministry. It was certainly chaotic here at times, all the little kids running around doing Merlin knows what. Still, it was nice, it was pretty sedate, and it was far less dangerous. He was not missing looking over his shoulder everywhere he went. He had what was almost approached a normal life here at Hogwarts and he was really enjoying it. Chaos gremlins they may be, most of the students were nice enough. Some of them were engaging and eager to learn and he tried to help them along the best he could. Of course, there were also troublemakers of course but he couldn't be too mad at them if they didn't go too far. Galahad had stirred up his share of shit at Hogwarts so he had a bit of a soft spot for the lovable rogues. His colleagues were also interesting. They were professional and personable. He found the Headmaster to be very engaging, even if he was turning into a paranoid old man. Galahad was quietly glad that he'd retired from the Ministry before that happened to him. He was very happy to be working with his old Ministry colleague, Orion Lécuyer. They had known each other during their time as Aurors and there'd always been a mutual attraction between them, but they'd been too wrapped up in the work to pursue anything. Still, Galahad was happy to be working with the handsome Frenchman again.

He pulled his red coat straight as he listened to Frank Morgan's Mood Indigo and looked at himself in the mirror. He hadn't been to any sort of fancy do in a long time so he wanted to look his best. He also figured he should do his best to match the Renaissance theme of the ball. He also wanted to celebrate his inner lion and represent the House he headed, so he'd settled for a suit of red and gold. He thought he carried it off quite well. He combed his hair and checked himself in the mirror one last time. He definitely looked good enough to head down to the ball. He took a sip of tea as he listened to the end of the song before he finally set off.

He made his way through the corridors without really running into anyone. He wondered if anyone had already arrived or if everyone was going to be fashionably late. It didn't really matter to him, he'd show up and mingle, and hopefully not have to interrupt any tomfoolery. He really just wanted to go to the ball, have a low key good time, and just relax. That's what these events were supposed to be for after all. He quietly hoped he'd run into Orion at the ball so the could do a bit of catching up. That sounded like a very nice evening to him.

As he emerged onto the grounds, the first thing that hit him was the trumpet fanfare. The music was a nice touch and he hummed along with it after a moment. He saw the maze in front of him and began to walk towards it. He took out his wand and prepared to light it so he could find his way through.

As the year moved by quickly, yet another ball was upon them. Held at Hogwarts and open to other wizarding schools, it was bound to be a fun one. Gabriel had not made plans to meet anyone in the maze, but that did not mean he wouldn't. Perhaps, he might even run into a wizard or witch from a different school. Unlike the other balls there wasn't much preparing to do regarding his looks. Simple clothes would do fine by him, the simpler the better. He straightened his already flat hair while mumbling his father's favorite muggle song, adding the finishing touches to his look.

Pulling on a coat, Gabriel pocketed his wand and looked in the mirror. The day was young and the time ahead of him was certain to be fun. All this excitment made him wonder if nothing like this would've came true if that day didn't come, the day he was accepted into the school. The endless times of fun throughout his first year, the bound to be great upcoming years, and best of all, the greatest friends he had made.

He walked down the corridors, a new pep in his step while he reminisced and thought of the hours ahead of him. He was particularly excited for this ball; there were more wizards from around the world waiting to be met. As he walked down the grounds, the great hedges of the maze caught his attention. But that wasn't the only thing that caught his attention, a boy he'd never seen seemed to be approaching the maze as well.

Had his luck already started? Was he from another school, and could Gabe be the person to give him a good impression of the Hogwartians?

Though before he knew it, Gabe collided into something and stumbled back. He quickly whipped out his wand and looked at the thing. No... not a thing. A person. The very same person he was thinking of talking to. His cheeks flushed red, as he snuck the wand into his back pocket.

Time goes by so slowly...

Madonna knew something that most did not. Her 2005 hit song filled radios all over the world about how slowly time can be when waiting for others. Maya had a fling with an old coworker, one that she grew more and more in love with. But his inconsistency of being present was killing her. His amount of baggage wasn't what she cared for, no, it was his inability to meet her half way. And here she was, needing to chaperone yet another ball for Hogwarts. The timing couldn't be better.

Perhaps it meant for a new beginning. Time goes by slowly when you wait, but what happens when you live? How fast does it go then? She was now 33 years old. What was her future now? Maya took off her coat and placed it gently on the end of her bed. She then went into her closet, and came out with an outfit one would not have thought she would wear. It wasn't red. It wasn't black. It was a dark green dress that cascaded to the floor. A sweetheart chest, it was long sleeved of tule and more on the ball-gown style. Going to the ball is like pulling teeth for Maya, but her need to start anew was now.

As she approached the maze, she felt good that she matched the maze's decor. She would rather be a blend with the environment than to stick out like a sore thumb. Her hair was slicked back, giving her a sleek look with her green apparel. When she got to the beginning, a beautiful fanfare was presented, but Maya moved to the side, not wanting to be presented among the whole school. When she walked out of the way, she bumped into an individual.

"Slicha," she said in Hebrew, meaning excuse me. She looked up to see a new adult face that she had never really seen before. She looked at the man questioningly as to why they were here. Plott was obviously still alive, so it wasn't a new Illvermorney School Headmaster. There were some traits that looked familiar. It reminded her of Caradoc Browne. It then hit her that this was the new Head of Gryffindor, Galahad Browne. He had dressed in a fancy, red outfit. In his hand was a wand. Was he going to cast a light charm going into the dark maze?

"Don't tell me the new Gryffindor Head is scared of the dark," she teased, looking away from the light. Maya was one who liked a bit of adventure and danger. Knowing how the balls went here in Hogwarts, perhaps light was the best option. But what fun was that? Using all of her senses to get through the maze showed strength.

"To each their own," she shrugged. "I'm Maya Galim, the Muggle Studies professor," she introduced herself to what would be one of her four supervisors. He probably knew who she was, but it was still customary to introduce oneself to another if they haven't met.

As Andy was exploring the maze by himself, he encountered more familiar faces along the way. Mathis, the quite handsome boy with blue-black hair wearing a brand-new black suit, also recognized Andy and gave the brown-haired Second Year Thunderbird Broom Racer a fist bump and also compliented Andy`s quite nice blue suit. "That`s very nice of you to say that, Mathis! Have fun exploring the maze and see you on the main ball banquet! Catch you later, bro!" Andy replied to the other boy as he returned Mathis`s fisty bump, then he disappeared in the maze and continued to explore the maze by himself. However, the maze really seemed to be intriguing, confusing, and endless, and it was the first time Andy ever explored a maze by himself after reading about it several times on those adventure books he enjoyed reading. He really had no idea how to get out of the maze, and he only wished he had someone to accompany him. Fortunately, it would not be long before he found someone that could possibly accompany him to explore the maze.

A short while after he separated from Mathis and go his own way, Andy heard a familiar face calling his name. It was the girl she met in Ilvermorny at the beginning of this April, Estelle, know as Es. When Andy first met Es in Ilvermorny that day, the red-haired first year Wampus was probably unhappy with his sudden intrusion of some individual time by herself in attempt to talk to her, but now in her voice, there was a lot of enthusiasm, and the brown-haired Second Year Thunderbird was of course glad to find out Es was finally happy, at least that was what she seemed to be. Es was wearing a pretty yellow dress that made her look like a sunflower, adding more layers to the beauty of the red-haired Wampus . "Hi, Es! I`m doing great and I`m glad you seem to be happy too! You look particularly beautiful in this yellow dress, such a wise choice for the ball! By the way, do you mind exploring the enchanted maze with me, Es? This maze seems endless and confusing and I find it difficult to explore the maze by myself!" Andy waved to the pretty Wampus with red hair and a yellow dress with a friendly smile, and held out his hand, inviting Es to go into the maze with him.

A couple of other people had now congregated around Angelique. Apparently, she was quite popular, or so Roksana thought. Smirking, she broke away from the other kids, sweeping away and walking confidently. If she had to mingle, then Roksana would mingle. So, she decided to look for anyone without a date, or at least somebody doing the same thing.

Roksana looked around, but everyone seemed to be perfectly fine, everyone with their dates, platonic or not, and there didn't seem to be many outsiders. Some people simply looked like they were waiting for their partners or dates. Roksana shrugged and went to go find her way back to where she previously once was until she bumped into somebody.

Darn these large crowds. So many people, but Roksana was undeterred. Mostly. Roksana let out a little "Oy!" as an exclamation of surprise. She was about to apologize in Russian when she remembered that she was in an English-speaking country where lots of people spoke English or a similar language(or not-so-similar), and quickly switched to English.

"God, I'm very sorry, I was not watching-" She started to say. She got a closer look at the person she had bumped into. It was a brown-haired boy with considerably large ears, wearing a blue blazer. Even though, like everyone else in the world, he was taller than Roksana, he may have been about the normal height for his age. Which was around hers...?

"Pardon my manners, I hope you understand that I didn't mean to bump into you," said Roksana politely, though she wasn't entirely sure if he even heard her. Ugh. For a brief moment she daydreamed about what it was like to be tall, or at least close to normal height instead of being 4'4 1/2 for 12. And then she snapped back to reality. Oh, right, Roksana thought. Life stills goes on. Woohoo.

Andy was just holding out his hand and attempting to invite Es to go into the maze with him when he noticed someone bumping into him. He looked downwards and saw a quite short but really adorable girl with beautifully done curly blond hair wearing a pretty dark green dress with little pink flowers on it, along with earrings and a necklace of the matching col0r, accidentally walking into him. The girl apologized in a low voice, and Andy honestly really did not mind that, let alone being angry about that. Being distracted and not looking at the front when walking, not noticing someone in front of them, and therefore accidentally bumping into them, that was something everyone would do from time to time, even the brown-haired Thunderbird broom racer had done that a few times. It was just way too normal to be clumsy at times, and Andy honestly thought no one should feel angry about someone just accidentally walking into them.

"It`s OK, you don`t have to apologize for that. Everyone do that from time to time, it`s completely fine, and I really did not mind that." Andy bented his knee a little bit and replied to the other girl with a friendly smile, "I know you probably has heard that a few times. but I have to say you are a pretty little girl, and you look even more pretty with your hair beautifully done like that and wearing this amazing dark green dress with little pink flowers on it. By the way, my name is Andy, and I`m from Ilvermorny in the US. What`s your time and are you also a visitor here or are you from Hogwarts?" Andy could not believe he spoke so many words with a stranger without even feeling a tiny bit of nervousness, maybe after so many interactions with new people and old friends, the brown-haired Second Year Thunderbird broom racer had managed to come out of his shell without him realising and he now felt a lot more confident interacting with someone new, which was definitely great news for him.
