2023, Stage 2 Hufflepuff Vs Gryffindor: Match 8

Dangit! Distraction was a common plague Dori faced during duels. According to their modest calculations from down on the piste there was a chance- a chance to win. Two years of duelling. One win. So many losses. Logan was still standing. They were still standing. Technically everyone was still standing. They bit their lip to keep from thinking too hard about the possibilities.

Logan really.needed to have more faith in herself. She should not have been surprised that her kickback jinx had hit, and uet she was. The Hufflepuff did glance over at her teammate, making sure they were okay when she saw they did not cast anything. Maybe they were just surprised or tired, as Logan did feel like it was lasting forever.

The duel was winding down and coming to an end, and the Lions bad luck continued as Elsa's spell failed yet again! Instead of being off-target, though, the spell had rebounded on the caster, leaving her restrained.

Ivy's own Wind Jinx was interrupted as the Badgers sent a volley of Knockback jinxes at her, forcig her to abandon her casting and dodge out of the way of the incoming spells handily -- THERE was the evasiveness that Hui-Ming had been expecting off the Gryffindors for the entire duel. But perhaps this new-found athleticism was too little, too late?

Well, their spell missed. But so did Logan's. And so did Ivy's, which completely failed. Elsa's backfired and they watched as she hit the floor. A taste of her own head bump medicine as the soreness on their head seemed to linger despite being healed. Phantom head pains. There was one round left, they were both still standing. There was a very very real chance that Hufflepuff could pull out a victory. It felt like Dori was holding their breath waiting for this next round, and for the duel, to be done.

Logan frowned slightly at the missed Flipendo, maybe she was getting tired because she had been doing so well this match. The final round was upon them and really she was nervous, what if she really messed up and somehow managed to make them lose. Those thoughts did not stick around long though as the girl took a deep breath and sent a grin towards Dorian. They could do this.

With the final round of casting, urgency seemed to grip the duelists.

Dorion's attempt at a spread spell backfired, buffeting the caster. An unfortunate byproduct of the lasting duel, though too little to save the Lion.

Logan and Ivy traded knockback jinxes in a desperate attempt to inch in more damage while time allowed, and both managed to land their hits. Ivy was still on her feet, but only just.

Elsa forced her way out of the bodybind she had inflicted on herself, but to late to take part in any of the action befalling them.

"And halt." the second-year snake, imperiously stepping in between this fourth-year duel. What Hui-Ming would have done if they had not halted, he didn't really know. But the time allotted for the duel was over.

Hui-Ming would examine each of the duellists, hs eyes lingering just a tad bit longer on Bellamy. The Gryffindor was badly hurt, and he'd have to see her to the hospital wing. But that was for after. For now--

A small nod to the badgers, who had managed to hold their own masterfully against the Lions.
