DAY 2
Sunday, 29th of January 2023
It was January, so the insides of the duelling club and its spectator area were a nice change to the freezing cold that spectators of both Quidditch and Broom Racing would have to endure around this time of year. Inside it was comfortable and cozy, though there was definitely the excitement in the atmosphere. The second stage of duelling would be happening and many students were there to witness it as they whispered about the possibilities and outcomes of certain matches. Bets were made and the best possible opening strategies were being discussed. All in all students were crowding the space in smaller and bigger groups as they peered at the duelling stages. The second stage was often the one that allowed for more certain predictions about who would win the duelling cup and that usually was what also drew the attention of the Hogwarts Headliner into the room, though many of the writers also were duellists themselves.
It was the second day, which also meant that half of the duels had already been decided and the first predictions were made possible. However it also meant that the tension was far greater as these were the duels that would decide the final outcome of this stage. There was some loose chatter about the duels of the previous day still, but many students were also occupied with examining the current duels and what their outcomes would be and how it would shift the balance of things...

| ─── | It was Saturday, January 29th at around 10:25AM.
Only a year ago, getting up at 10AM on a weekend would have been unfathomable for him to think of. But as it was, Kim had changed over the space of one year. For various reasons. Also, lately he'd been having insomnia, so it wasn't really that hard to 'wake up' for him. Since his own match was taking place around 12:30PMish, Kim had decided to simply wear his Gryffindor robes to the earlier matches. It would save time. Opening up the doors to the dueling club, Kim saw he was the first one there. Then again, it was 15 minutes before the morning matches were scheduled to begin. So it was normal to assume he'd be the first one there. Setting his satchel down onto the seat next to him, Kim took out a sketchbook and started to sketch the piste to pass the time. Puffie nuzzled his neck as he sat on top of his shoulder and looked around the room. Once the piste's outline was done, Kim started to sketch Eun-ji onto the piste. As it started to take on her likeness, the teen's lips started to curve upward into what could have almost been a smile. More and more detail was added until it was a very distinguishable person in his work. Kim tilted his head to the side for a few seconds. He let his blue eyes flicker over his creation. Yes, it looked good for now. Eun-ji looked great. Kim was satisfied with how it had turned out so far. The announcement was made and Kim blinked, wondering where the time had gone. Match 12 started and then finally Match 4 started and Eun-ji and Monica took their positions on the piste. Kim clapped like all the others and then began to sketch Monica into the drawing he was still doing. He had some time before it actually started and would at least try to sketch an outline of everyone. Match 2 started and now everything became chaos as spells began to fly everywhere. Kim looked up to take notice of the duels, watching them all. Although most of his attention was only on Match 4 and Match 2. |

Watching Match 2 and Match 4 (but in denial)
Getting ready to watch the morning matches on the second day of the duelling championship's second stage, Lucia Fox told herself two lies.
She maintained that she was only attending this morning to cheer on the Blazing Badgers as Emma and AngelFyre faced off against Gryffindor, but that wasn't quite true. Maybe if Lucia never mentioned how she'd scanned the timetable not for Hufflepuff but for a certain Ravenclaw, she could pretend it never happened; she could pretend that she wasn't going to watch Eun-ji's duel. The older girl had made it obvious that she didn't want to be friends anymore. So why did the idea of not watching her match feel so wrong? As much as Lucia had tried to distance herself from Eun-ji after the latter had unceremoniously rejected her friendship, she couldn't help it. The unspoken barrier between them felt like a brick wall that followed Eun-ji wherever she went, and going to the Duelling Club today would be in defience of that - but Lucia had followed people's orders (read: Ebony's orders) for so long that she needed something to defy. Just like charming her hair blonde for a long-ago ball, she would go to the Duelling Club today and she wouldn't watch Eun-ji. She didn't need Eun-ji anymore. And that was the first lie.
Lucia also told herself that she'd put extra effort into her appearance today because it was a special event, but that wasn't quite true. This was the first event (not counting classes and Lucia's own duel yesterday) where Eun-ji and Lucia would be in attendance since that fateful meeting back in October. Almost every aspect of the latter's outfit hinted towards their past friendship in some way, from the blue skirt adorned with music notes she'd paired with a tucked-in white top to the flower studs in her ears. Not that Eun-ji would notice. Lucia didn't know if she even wanted her to - after all, it was Eun-ji who didn't want to be friends with her, not the other way round. Would turning up here today make her look desperate? Lucia paused for a second in front of her mirror. She hadn't meant for this outfit to look like a reminder of their friendship; it had just sort of happened. But, in a moment of rash determination, Lucia decided that she didn't care. She could go where she wanted in this castle, whether Eun-ji was there or not. And she could dress how she liked, whether Eun-ji noticed or not. Lucia liked this skirt, and she liked these earrings, and she was damn well going to wear them, and they had nothing to do with Eun-ji at all.
It was with these deceptions swirling through her head that Lucia pushed open the door to the Duelling Club. She was late. The duels had already started, and she could only hope that she hadn't distracted anyone as she hurried in and took a seat behind a blue-haired boy with a sketchbook. It took a moment before she realised that she knew the boy: this was Kim, a younger Gryffindor. Although Kim himself had always seemed nice to Lucia, she knew that he was friends with Eun-ji's not-quite-fiancé, which meant that he probably knew that Eun-ji wouldn't want Lucia to be here. And yet here she was, and she tried to keep her eyes firmly on AngelFyre and Emma's match. She wasn't going to watch Eun-ji, or cheer for her, or even acknowledge her presence. She wasn't. "COME ON, BLAZING BADGERS!" she called in encouragement to her teammates as every single spell cast succeeded. "WOO!" Maybe, if she channeled all of her bottled-up frustration towards cheering for her house, she could get it all out. Not that there was any. She wasn't frustrated at all. She didn't feel anything towards Eun-ji, nothing at all. Eun-ji had made her choice, and that was that. But Lucia couldn't stop her eyes flickering towards the piste on which her ex-friend stood.

| ─── | The duel continued on.
Kim was absorbed in both watching the matches and also sketching out what was going on at the same time. So when Lucia came into the room and sat down behind him, he didn't realize it at first. Not until a loud cheer was heard from behind him, someone supporting their team up there it seemed. Badgers. A Hufflepuff. Kim couldn't help but think about Rabbit, whenever Hufflepuff or Badgers came up in conversation. Why hadn't he seen him around the castle? Ever since summer, things had been awkward between them. Not that it hadn't ever not been awkward. But it was even more so after the summer ended..... He'd only seen him around once since that point in time and then never again. Distracted from his thoughts about Rabbit, Kim glanced behind him to see who had shouted out their support for their House. Ah, Lucia. The girl he'd gotten to know a little better before the start of summer on the train. She'd also popped up at various balls he'd gone to. Not to mention the fact that she'd been one of Eun-ji's close friends. Until recently that is. It had been such a shame what had gone down. But that was life, with its ups and downs all the time. All they could do was just live it. Eun-ji had told him that the two of them were currently not on speaking terms. She'd also told him it had been entirely her fault, which seemed to affect her greatly although she didn't tend to show these feelings outwardly much. Kim had comforted her in his own way, a way that had more to do with comfortable silence and physical touches than with words. Yes, this was out of character for him as he had an aversion to the latter, but from time to time he came out of his shell. When it really mattered, that was how he showed his support towards others. But now, Lucia was here, supposedly supporting her House. "Yo." Kim said, giving his trademark greeting to Lucia, as he turned his head to gaze at her for a few seconds. Setting down his sketchbook, the blue haired teen crossed his arms over the back of the chair and placed his chin down on top of them. Gazing at Lucia for a few more seconds, Kim noticed how the girl's eyes flickered over to where Eun-ji was briefly. Eun-ji's match was against two Slytherins. There was no reason for Lucia to be looking in that direction, unless it was relating to her former friend. No badgers were there..... "You come to cheer for a certain someone?" Kim asked with an arched brow. |

DAY 2
As usual Damion was watching the Duelling match. It was sad to see his good friend, Hades be against the younger Gryffindor Boy, Kim, that Damion was crushing on so very hard. He was going to cheer Kim on. He hoped that Kim would win but wouldn't that mean that Hades would have to lose. Oh Damn! Damion was in a fix. What should he do? He wanted to be a good friend to Hades but the boy he was crushing on should win since in the last match he saw him faint.
Date: 29th January '23
Afternoon Slot: 12:30 - 13:30
Match 5: Rose Moon & Kim Sato vs Callista Lovis & Hades Schweighöfer
Oh boy! What was Damion going to do? He didn't know. His heart wanted to support Kim but then he was not being a good friend to Hades. Ugh! This was so hard. He wished that it was easier. He looked at Cassandra who was moderating the match call them on the stage. He smiled as he watched what was going to happen. "Go Kim! Go!" He said looking towards Kim and smiled. He was happy that he was getting to witness another Duel which had Kim in it. He was hoping that this duel would end better than the last one... he was very conflicted about it to be honest. He was not sure what to do. He was looking forward to see how this duel ended. He hoped, really hoped that Kim would win.

DAY 2
Afternoon Slot - 12:30 - 13:30, Match 5
Blue in English, Red in KoreanKim's duel took place right after hers. She already knew she'd be coming to that one as soon as she saw their time slot didn't clash. Last time she went, the little lion lost but it was in no way his fault. His teammate completely blanked out and left him fend for himself, which was nearly impossible to do even for the most experienced duellists. Hopefully Rose will be more dependable support. Eun-ji could tell her friend was talented and he just needed a proper opportunity to shine. It would be shame if she let him down as well.
Since she didn't have time to run into the tower, the Ravenclaw didn’t bring her sketch book this time. It was fine though. She may have not been the loudest supporter but that didn't mean, watching other people's matches wasn’t enough to keep her mind occupied. She simply wanted to look busy in order to avoid any unnecessary social interactions. The witch doubted there would be anybody eager to talk to her though so she should be okay either way. She'd just enjoy the duel without being distracted today. It would be better if the moderator wasn’t Cassandra but as long as they weren’t directly interacting with each other, everything should be fine.
Unlike many of the other kids that were pretty open with their support, Eun-ji simply waited until Kim looked her way so she could offer him an encouraging nod and a smile. Surely, one of his many friends would come and provide more enthusiastic cheer. It was not something she was capable of doing. She may have looked well put together but these type of things made her feel incredibly awkward. Thankfully, Kim knew this by now so she wasn't worried he'd be disappointed. "Go Kim! Go!" Ah there we go. She smiled as she heard Damion's cry.

DAY 2
[quote]
[quote]The Curse of the Bogies. It was an annoying spell when you were on the recieving end, and Lucia could only hope for AngelFyre's sake that the spell's effects would wear off soon. But she couldn't concentrate on the Badgers' duel, no matter how much she tried. Her gaze flicked towards Eun-ji once, twice, three times, as though the girl had some sort of magnetic force around her that Lucia couldn't resist. Of the three spells cast in her match, one had failed and two hit. One of the latter was Eun-ji's well-cast blindfolding spell. It was a shame, Lucia reflected as she forced her line of sight back towards AngelFyre and Emma, that she'd never been able to see Eun-ji's duelling skills properly before today. Oh, to have the freedom to cheer for her friend! But Eun-ji was not a friend, and Lucia could only encourage her own team.
Was someone speaking to her? Lucia was pulled out of her musings by a greeting, and jumped. Trying not to look like a small child caught in the middle of stealing a biscuit, Lucia blinked innocently at Kim. "What?" The younger boy's question was telling. Merlin, was she really being that obvious? Lucia didn't even want herself to know that she was watching Eun-ji - because she WASN'T - so it was not good to see that Kim suspected. The Hufflepuff would just have to play dumb; she was good at being dumb after all. One look at her grades would tell anybody that. "I'm here for my team, if that's what you mean." She gestured towards the piste where AngelFyre and Emma were duelling.

DAY 2
Damion watched the first round of the match. He was hoping that the duel would be good and he'd be able to see how well Kim did. However, he was not sure whom to support. it was sort of Kim vs Hades.
Date: 29th January '23
Afternoon Slot: 12:30 - 13:30
Match 5: Rose Moon & Kim Sato vs Callista Lovis & Hades Schweighöfer
He sighed when he saw Callista cast the blindfold spell. Duck Kim. Oh no. The spell hit Kim and Kim was blindfolded. Now what would he do about it. He watched as others tried to cast the spell. He could see that everyone's spell didn't hit the target. Poor Hades! Poor Kim! Especially Kim. Since he was blindfolded.
"You can do it Kim. Concentrate." Damion cheered Kim on. He was really crushing hard on the younger Gryffindor. "There is still time. You can do it Kim." He said.
Damion had noticed, of course he had noticed, that Kim had tried to throw a spell at Hades. What if the spell had hit Hades? Poor Hades would be sneezing. "Go Hades Go" Damion cheered on his friend. Just because it was a duel where his friend and the guy he was crushing on were against each other that didn't mean he'd stop supporting his friend. Damion had noticed that Hades' spell had missed too. Oof! The two boys (Kim and Hades) had things that they needed to deal with.

DAY 2
Damion was watching the match with full concentration. It was after all a match between the guy he had a huge crush on, Kim Sato, and his friend, Hades Schweighöfer. He was rooting for Kim to win. Yeah he knew what that would mean. it would mean that Hades and his team would have lose. Anyways, it was not that bad. Or was it?
Date: 29th January '23
Afternoon Slot: 12:30 - 13:30
Match 5: Rose Moon & Kim Sato vs Callista Lovis & Hades Schweighöfer
The second round had started. Damion watched as Kim got rid of the Blindfold from his eyes. He was really happy that his Kim could see again. He was glad that Kim was no longer blindfolded. He couldn't say the same thing for Hades. Rose Moon had cast the same spell that Callista Lovis had cast in the First Round on Kim, Obscuro- the blindfold spell. Well with Hades being blindfolded, Damion didn't know how that effect Hades with his casting. Well it would be seen eventually how that affected Hades.
Damion flinched a little when he saw Callista Lovis cast Flipendo on Kim. And it hit Kim. Damn poor Kim. He thought. He hoped that the attack on Kim would not make Kim back off from the duel. He would hate if Kim backed off. He wanted to support Kim. "You can do it Kim. Just concentrate. You can win it!" Damion said cheering on the guy he was crushing on.
Damion watched as Hades moved his wand to cast a spell on Kim. Why were they ganging up on poor Kim? First Callista and then Hades. He winced as he watched Hades hit his Kim. Damion was starting to feel like that he was bad luck for Kim. The two matches he had seen (including this one) Kim had lost. Well Kim had not lost this one yet. But still he was having bad feeling about it. "Come on Hades. Give the boy a break!" He grunted hoping that Hades wouldn't hear him. He was not trying to ruin his friendship with Hades but he couldn't have Hades hurt Kim at all.

DAY 2

Morning Slot; 10:30-11:30; Match 4
Just like the previous day, Bea set up camp as a spectator in the Dueling Club. Truly, she should've just set up a bed here for the night. It would have made things a lot easier. Some of the seats had already been filled, and the match she wanted to watch was already underway. Bea groused to herself. She hated being late. She'd watched yesterday's match between Hui-Ming and Adelaide with baited breathe, and she supposed this one today would be no different. Her best friend was a fantastic duelist, and even though Bea really wanted to be on the team to one day verse her, she supposed watching would be alright. At least they'd had their practice match.Mentioning: @Monica Evans, @Starlee Kennedy, @Cynthia Beaufort, @Fang Hui-Ming, @Adelaide Barlowe
Lollies in hand, she couldn't go without them, especially when watching a match, she took a seat to watch her House vs Monica. It wasn't just Monica on the piste, but she didn't know Monica's partner very well, okay at all. But it seemed they were doing well. Bea bit her lip as she watched the duel progress. Cynthia, the newest dueling recruit wasn't doing so well. More-so because as the youngest and least experienced, she was basically a sitting duck for the other side. Bea hoped it wouldn't put the girl off further. She herself knew what that was like - the Summer Games Dueling Extravaganza had been a crazy whirlwind of an introduction into dueling, but looking back on it now, Bea was glad for the experience.
