Beatrice's heart was beating fastly in her chest as the race started. It didn't take long and the first spells were being thrown. Not only that but Beatrice even made a rock out, flying through the air into the direction of Beatrice Langstreth. Beatrice watched as the older students evaded and then she turned her head back forward. Her attention shouldn't be with anyone else but herself. There were a few things happening all at once and Beatrice was extremely glad that there was no one shooting a spell in her direction. She didn't know any defensive spells yet so she would not have any other choice than try to evade any attacks if there were to come some. She was in a good speed and the first two passages were rather easy. Monica Evans, who Beatrice didn't know all that well but knew that she was a Slytherin prefect, was flying very fast. Once again Beatrice realized that she was actually really inexperienced with flying. Especially this fast. Of course she had played quidditch a couple of times and raced with her siblings in the garden but she had never done anything like this. All this in mind, the twelve year old girl wasn't doing bad, especially since this was her first real race ever. The air was piercing cold and Beatrice wished for a bit of more warmth but instead snow started falling. It was winter after all. Although she didn't want to, Beatrice did start to shiver a little and slowed down, the cold hitting her like ice water. The snow fall was heavy and Beatrice hoped that it would soon stop.

Lift off! It was a rush! the serge through the air, feeling every particle moving out of her way, it was quite thrilling! The start of the race was quite a mash up of chaos. One moment, Monica is soaring higher, trying to get as far ahead of the pack as she can, then the next, she is fighting to keep hold of her broom. Seems she was hit with a hex, leaving her broom a slippery disaster. Luckily though her balance was good, and she was able to fight through the grip issue.

Flying so fast, and getting so far, Monica didn't even know if anyone was around her. She could sense some others, but with the wind wizzing past her ears, her sense of proximity was greatly lowered. It didn't matter, she was sure she getting away fast! And trusted her teammates did well to cast some chaos at the starting line to give her a better chance of pulling ahead.

The first obstacle seems simple enough, just a slight narrowing, how hard could this be? Monica kept her pace, but misjudged how narrow this passage was, bashing between the area, getting really banged up, but still on her broom...."Okay---Not that bad." The young Slytherin told herself as she fought to get back up to speed.

Pushing further ahead, Monica's teeth began to chatter, and her fingers grew numb.... snow was showering her, snowflakes stinging her face.... Not the best weather to be flying in. Though the cold might have slowed her pace, she pressed on!

All Monica wanted to do was prove she was a racer. That she could pick up ANY sport and be amazing at it! She wasn't a looser or a quitter.... SHE WAS----

As Monica picked up speed, her face was pummelled by the forest around her. Branches reaching out, cutting at her cheecks, and leaving bruises on her face.... This might be why she was the only one flying this fast.... Monica could faintly hear Aurelia yelling out to her, she couldn't make out what the girl was saying.... but if she was seeing how Monica was flying, she could assume it was to perhaps slow down.

There as a certain thrum of adrenaline that was different than duelling that returned to the pit of Dori's stomach as they all kicked off for the start of the race. Dori's wand quickly whipped out, casting a successful Slippery Jinx at Monica, making it harder to stay on her broom. Even while flying Dori was a powerful spellcaster, they just wished it showed more in the duelling aspect of it. They were able to narrowly dodge a spell whipping towards them from another team, they didn't have time to see who it was to possibly enact revenge.

Harnessing their old skills of flying they narrowed their body against their trusty Silver Arrow to deftly pass through the narrow passage without bumping the side and causing damage. The snowfall wasn't exactly fun, making it harder to see and momentarily chilling their bones which made moving a bit more difficult. It seemed like their teammate Maggie was able to keep up, but Cash was still back at the start. Nerves could hit anyone at any time, and they tried not to let themselves think about it. Besides, if one of them won the whole team won so Dori was determined to make it to the end.

The thing about playing a sport, the said sport itself could be brutal in their own way. But Broom racing type of brutal is well... ruthless. Yes, ruthless is what Cash concluded when it came down to Broom Racing. The fourth year had been considered to change their sport. They had been contemplating changing to either Broom Racing or Duelling when the new school year rolled in.

But at the end, Cash stuck to what they know best. They so in love with Quidditch, they did not have the heart to leave the sport and their beloved Cloud Cobras teammate. But occasionally opportunity arises. Cash just made as one of Slytherins' Viridian Viper Co-Captain and now, as is today, Cash tried Broom Racing for the first time.

As the go signal had been given by the one that oversaw the race, a lot happened at once. They saw the other team members zipping through the air and so does both Dorian and Maggie. But Cash themselves are still stuck at the starting point and it appears they grow antlers. It's funny when it comes down to sports, there was always this hidden message of 'what's in it for me' but blanketed by the sense of teammate camaraderie.

Cash shakes their head and put their head in the game. Though no one put pressure on them and it was not an official Broom Racing game, Cash feels like they need to put in their best effort and help their teammate to win the race. And so, with a new determination, Cash was ready for their next course of action.

So the race was started, Violet hoped luck was on their team’s side..as much as it can be.At the last minute, she got an idea and she managed to get a rock to put it in her outfit’s pocket, just in case she wouldn’t be totally useless and stop some of the opponents. Then she hopped on her new broom and started flying forward as the race started. It was just the first unit and there were many voices that meant spells were casted and rocks were thrown, and she was the thrower. As she was flying, she quickly picked the rock that she hid and threw it at one of the opponents, unfortunately she evaded but was soon to be forced to dance by another racer’s spell.

The next unit was a very narrow path but Violet made it out alright. (even though for a second it felt like the walls were getting narrower around her but she managed to shake the thoughts off and kept going without slowing down). Then they all found themselves in the middle of a heavy snowfall. It was cold indeed but she survived, secretly glad she didn’t make a fool of herself so soon.

Emerging from the forested area, soar, and whipping away some pine needles from her face, Monica had lost whatever advantage she had, the other racers were gaining fast! Her mistake with forest navigation, and avoiding trees slowed her down tremendously. Looking back Monica could see Dorion catching up fast, their flight flawless as they dodge ever branch in their way. Monica took out her wand, using all of her grip strength to hold fast to her broom, aiming at the Hufflepuff as they gain, Monica shouted out, "Tarantellagra!" Monica smirked to herself as the spell left her wand. It wasn't perfect, but it wasn't a bad cast at all. "Let's see how they like dancing off their broom," The Slytherin thought to herself, but Dorion, once again, proved to be an experienced racer, dodging out of the way of Monica's spell.

Drats!

Monica turned her head, getting back into the zone, at this point she could only try to fight to regain her speed! However as she returned to looking where she was flying, she rammed hard into a patch of thorns, piercing her skins as she surged by, once again loosing speed quickly, fortunately she wasn't the only one to eat thorns, looking over Monica saw Violet hitting the same problems she was, "You alright Vi?" Monica shouted out, trying to hide how much she was struggling with this unit as well. Blinded by thorns, Monica saw 2 other racers pass her, but couldn't quite see who it was... Her only hope was to try and catch up after getting through these stupid thorns!
