2023, Stage 2 Hufflepuff vs. Gryffindor: Match 2

AngelFyre looked over to Emma and smiled widely. She quickly tucked her wand between her arm and her torso and applauded her partner. Speaking right then would have offered a display of the most unsightly and unsoundly kind, so the soft applause would have to do for now. Emma's KO of Taizu and the... hmmm.... tap dancing rendition, of sorts, certainly deserved that modicum of effort from her at the very least. Even if AngelFyre could not say,"Way to go, Emma!" in that moment, she was definitely thinking it.

Though the match was not yet won, their chances were looking better than they had just 2 minutes ago. She turned her attention back to the one and only remaining opponent standing between her and Emma and another Hufflepuff victory. It did not look good for the lone lioness and AngelFyre could not help but wonder what Lily was thinking. Smack talk had apparently come to end.

No matter how brave House Gryffindor students were, it had to be a bit intimidating facing off against two duelists without a partner by your side. She was Colin's cousin though, and if she took after his impulsive ways, maybe intimidation was the very last thing she was feeling.

Guess they were all about to find out soon enough. She blinked sluggishly while getting back into standard dueling position. What I would not give to have a tissue right now.... and a nap. Uggh!

Emma breathed a bit easier when Angelfyre managed t evade Taizu. Honestly, she was tired of her partner getting targeted but it also wasn't like she could do much. She groaned as while she had been paying attention to Angelfyre, Emma was hit with...something. Her question was answered when her feet started to move in some weird tap dancing looking like thing. Looking down, she started feeling dizzy so instead locked onto Taizu, her intended target. Strangely enough the tapping sound of her feet and rather jerky motion didn't distract her as she seemed to lock onto him. Casting the spell clearly and evenly, Emma did a weird hop skip thing that was meant to convey her joy but got lost in the tap dance she was being forced to do.

Watching as Adelaide stopped the match to allow Taizu to be carried off the piste before focusing back on the only remaining target, Lily. Hopefully the dancing didn't distract her too badly in the next few rounds. Emma heard a clapping sound and blushed as she looked towards her partner, trying to think of how to respond. Unsure, she just beamed and tilted her head, probably looking a little stuck up or something similarly. Though she hoped it didn't come off like that.

With Lily now left to fend for herself, it was good that she had shaken herself out of whatever stupor she seemed to be frequently finding herself in in this duel. She would cast a Dancing-Feet Spell at AngelFyre, but the Hufflepuff seemed to be fed up with dancing during this duel, and she would easily dodge. AngelFyre would then attempt to send a Knockback Jinx Lily's way, but the Curse of the Bogies must be getting so terrible that the spell had went entirely off-course and in the direction of her own teammate, luckily Emma had seen it coming and was able to easily dodge it.

Emma would also send a Knockback Jinx Lily's way, and despite the Hufflepuff's legs still dancing around against her will, she still managed to successfully land the spell which was quite impressive. Getting hit by a Knockback Jinx was never a pleasant experience, and it was bound to hurt. Hopefully this would cause her to stop daydreaming during the duel. Unfortunately for AngelFyre, as the Curse of the Bogies effects started to wear off, she would be met with a round of dizziness and would be unable to cast a spell for the next round. It wouldn't last for long, and she would be feeling majorly better in a few seconds, but a few seconds lost in a duel could be detrimental.

[Spectator Thread: Day 2, Morning]

Lily cast the dancing feet spell at AngelFure and groaned as it missed. Angelfyre had cast the kickback jinx at her but it missed her. A lot. With a sigh of relief, Lily got ready to cast another spell, but Emma cast the kickback jinx as well and this time it hit her. Lily felt a shiver of pain go up her spine and she winced on response. Sighing, she stood up and got ready to cast another spell.

Emma went into the round feeling quite confident and nothing seemed to be affecting that feeling, even though she was tiring a bit from all of the dancing. Hopefully the spell would end soon, if only so her legs could get a break.

Lily attempted to cast a spell, but Angelfyre easily avoided it, which meant the poor girl would not suffer any more than she already was. Fortunately Angelfyre was able to get off her spell, however it came straight at Emma. Her eyes widening, Emma did a weird mix of a tap dance, hop skip thing out of the way of the spell, thankful for once that she was being forced to dance, because she attributed the jig she was doing to being able to dodge the spell successfully.

Taking a breath, and focusing solely on Lily, Emma cast Flipendo once more. At this point she felt like she could be deemed an expert in the spell, but why change when it was so successful? Even with her jumping around, the spell landed and Emma was happy that she was able to cause more damage to Lily. While she knew that things could go awfully awry, she was hopeful that this was signalling a win was going to be pulled off soon.

AngelFyre cast her Knockback Jinx, but was not terribly surprised when it took off in Emma's direction instead of Lily's, which is where it was directed. She was able to raise her head just enough to see Emma dance out of harm's way... literally. At least she thought that is what she saw. She thought she had managed to avoid Lily's spell, but she was not certain of that either.

In fact, AngelFyre was feeling better as she could tell the Curse of the Bogey's was wearing off, but she almost as quickly began to feel extraordinarily dizzy. It was clear that she was not a target mercy was wishing to favor in this game... at least not thus far.

She could breathe more easily, but her vision was telescoping, knocking her a bit off balance and she stumbled. Her last thought before dropping to her knees, looking over at Emma, was that she hoped she did not....

As the duel was nearing its end, things started heating up (literally). AngelFyre was temporarily out of the game, only for a few seconds, but she had unfortunately missed this round because of the momentary dizziness as the Curse of the Bogies effects faded. Hopefully, she should be okay to continue until the end. Lily would attempt to send a Curse of the Bogies towards Emma, but the Hufflepuff managed to successfully dodge out of the way as the spell went askew.

Emma would retaliate with an Incendio Duo that found its mark, unfortunately for Lily, who would soon find herself embracing the orange and red colors of her house as the flames licked at her robes. Merlin. That most certainly was not going to be pleasant for Lily. Being hit with an Incendio, especially the stronger variation of the spell, was definitely not a great experience, but that was what came with Duelling. With yet another round of spells sent, there were only a few rounds left, and they were getting closer to the end.

[Spectator Thread: Day 2, Morning]

Out of it. AngelFyre was not in pain and she could breathe just fine, but she was momentarily there and at the same time... not. She was aware of light flashing near her and she could hear Emma's voice, but it sounded waaaaaay far off. Again, not because of congestion and the Bogey curse, but more due to a weird light-headedness. And just as quickly as it had struck her it began to just as quickly subside.

She remained on her knees for a few seconds taking inventory of what had gone on and whether she was as okay as she thought she was. Two blinks later and she found she was perfectly fine. Thank goodness! She heard what she thought was fire, and the smell soon thereafter confirmed it. She turned her attention over to Lily. Yikes! She was proud of Emmas's dueling acumen, but she knew how badly Lily was hurting right now.

AngelFyre quickly got to her feet and sent praise Emma's way. "Great job, partner. And look who no longer has the sniffles?" she remarked with great relief. "Maybe you will not have to carry this thing all by yourself any longer," and looking again over at Lily, not unkindly, she added, "and maybe we can finish this up and put her out of her misery."

Emma was not entirely shocked that Lily was coming after her, but thought she instead might have attacked her partner instead. But no matter, Emma was practically joyous, feeling the sweet sweet win coming her way. Take that! she thought to herself, as she danced out of the way, this time of her own volition rather than under the direction of a spell. She had grown in the year since she had last faced off against a capable duo, or maybe it was her partner, or maybe even a combo of the two. Whatever it was, she was feeling on top of the world. At some point she would crash, but not now.

Feeling so confident, Emma decided to try something a little different, going through her list of spells and deciding she wanted to try one she had recently learned, Incendio Duo. Taking a moment, she focused on Lily, her target before casting her spell. She was pleased when it landed although she cringed slightly recalling what the flames could feel like.

In all of the action, she had missed Angelfyre's dizziness, falling to her knees, too focused on the other side. But that changed when she heard Angelfyre's voice. Grinning cheekily at her, Emma said happily, "Good, I'm glad! I'm not sure about that, I think you did pretty well considering." Emma tried to tone her smile down at the more somber ending to Angelfyre's speech, but she had to admit, it was hard to do and honestly probably looked a bit like she was trying to focus too hard or something like that.

Lily squeaked in surprise as she caught on fire. Her spell had worked but right now She didn't care. She was hot, her clothes were on fire, and if She wasn't careful her hair could catch on fire and that would be a disaster.
She bit her lip and moved her hair to the side.
