Lions and Tigers and... Unicorns?

It was February again, his second February at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, which meant Marius' thirteenth birthday was only a little more than a month away. Fast approaching it was, the Hufflepuff felt that if one thought about it, time really did fly. All right, it only applied when someone looked back after things had happened, and he could not deny that about one and a half years ago, he neither could wait to be more than just an awkward first year with no extracurricular activity nor could believe that things may not be as scary as it seemed.
The second year contemplated about his life at Hogwarts so far. He had finished his first year quite successfully, in spite of his concern over his Potions grades and a couple of arguments here and there. He had never physically fought, though, and was determined to keep things that way even though sometimes it was tempting to do the total opposite when provoked. He was not very successful at building friendship he guessed, there were a number of students he had had positive interactions with, but no one to really call a friend whom he would hang out with most of the time. In terms of extracurricular activities, he was not bad; he was a school reporter and a part of the newspaper editor team, and recently successfully got into the Hufflepuff Quidditch team as a (second string) seeker - something he had been eyeing for ever since he found out about the sport.
And, he thought, in some weeks I will no longer be a preteen, but a teen instead...
Was he to miss his tween days, this Marius could not tell; he had never really cared about age anyway. But he cared about "seizing the day", about not wasting time, and he believed a time enjoyed was never a time wasted, especially when it came to following one's passion. Today was a great day for it: Professor Blumenthal allowed all Hogwarts students to interact with some beasts kept in the school area for the sake of CoMC (Care of Magical Creatures) class. As a second year, Marius was not allowed to take the elective, but he had had his eyes set on it. He simply loved animals.
There were unicorns, augureys, and jacakalopes today, but unfortunately the pupils may not choose more than one species to interact with. Thus, the Chinese-English preteen had to be satisfied with the one species of his choice, which was the unicorn, chosen because of a certain memory about horses.(Christmas some years ago, the Browns managed to get two horses of their own to help plough in the family farm. Mum and Dad allowed Marius and Alberto to name them.)
The twelve-year-old, dressed in a green turtleneck and brown flannel jacket to keep himself warm amid the still-cold weather, unconsciously held his breath upon seeing three unicorns in the designated area. One of them was a foal and golden in colour, while the other two seemed to be adults and were milk-white. "Oh," he whispered inwardly. "Oh, here they are! They're absolutely beautiful."
The minutes passed by as Marius busied himself with the three, determined to make the best use of his time in taking part in this rare opportunity; he wanted to make sure that he spent every second with the majestic beasts. He did not mind brushing their tails and manes; and quite enjoyed feeding Twilight, Montgomery, and Starlet. But there was no denying that petting their fur was his favourite part.
Time flew, and without him realising, one hour was suddenly up. The Hufflepuff felt wonderful he had to fight the urge to skip all the way back to the school building. And, as small as the chance could be, he could not help but cheerily, hopefully ask the CoMC teacher, "Professor Blumenthal, when will we have a similar opportunity again?"

Lions and Tigers and... Unicorns?

It was a nice Tuesday when Azzy decided to head down to the Unicorn Pen for today's errand. It was getting to know animals. They'd always been an animal person, found it was easier to talk to animals because they didn't judge you. They ran down to the Great Hall to grab something small for breakfast. They grabbed an apple and muffin before running to the Care for Magical Creatures area. The apple was for the Unicorns. They smiled as they remembered the time their mom, Lucille taking them horseback riding on their trip to America. They giggled a bit; they remembered the freedom they felt while on the sleek black and white speckled Clydesdale they had ridden. They couldn't wait. They had caught wind of the Unicorns preferring Witches to Wizards. But what about a Wix? Azzy had come up with the term themselves, non-binary or genderfluid people could use the term. And maybe they could talk to Headmaster Lear about the term later. This way it wasn't just Witch or Wizard.
Due to how fast they were moving, they reached the Care for Magical Creatures area in about 15 minutes tops. They walked up to the Unicorn pen slowly, as not to spook them. They leaned against the fence, listening to the teacher. So it was true, they preferred Witches to Wizards. They looked around at the other Unicorns, the foul was small. Seemingly helpless, but students had approached that one quickly. They continued looking around, spotting Montgomery. He was a tad smaller than Twilight. They patiently waited for the other students to clear away before they grabbed some hay, and a brush. Maybe they could get away with adding a braid to Montgomery's mane or tail, they approached the majestic beast slowly, holding out the apple. They had a way with animals. And they were going to put that to use. They took small steps, inching towards it. They tensed a bit as he sniffed the apple before eagerly taking it, they had learned that that was a go ahead. They pet his snout as he ate, making sure to be gentle. Azrael smiled as Montgomery nipped at their hand, as if saying "More please!". "Sorry buddy, I didn't bring another apple." The Unicorn huffed a bit. "Oh don't be like that. I brought some hay though!" His ears perked and he went for the hay. Azzy gave it to him, not even arguing. They liked how friendly the male Unicorn was. They began brushing out his mane and braiding it, they'd snuck an apple charm in their pocket before they left. Montgomery kind of side eyed them as they worked. They looked back at him, "Don't worry. I'm not going to hurt you. I could never." They said softly to the creature. They soon finished and added the apple charm to the braid. "You don't get as much attention as Twilight or Star, do you? That's ok. I'm here now." They said, sitting on a hay bale, Montgomery lying beside them. They stroked his neck and watched the other students, they seemed happy. Some played with Star while others swarmed around Twilight. They chuckled as the male Unicorn laid his head on their lap. "You're such a beautiful creature..." They whispered to him. They took out their sketchbook and left the others in the bag, so he couldn't get them, they began sketching the majestic horse. He watched them curiously, before trying to snatch the pencil, once he succeeded in that, he trotted off, Azzy chasing after him. "Hey! Give that back! Montgomery!" They yelled. The Unicorn whinnied, as if laughing, after a good 15 minutes of this, and Azzy sitting down to catch their breath, he dropped it on their lap and laid back down beside them. "You're mischievous." They said, picking up the pencil and noting the color of it now. "You just gave me a new color." They said, scratching the Unicorns nose. He whinnied again and nuzzled their cheek. Maybe one night they could sneak back here to see the majestic, mischievous Unicorn, but for now. It was time to go. They packed up and kissed Montgomery's nose. "bye Monty. I'll see you sooner than you think." They said as they exited the pen, walking back to the castle. It was a good day, and they were in an even better mood.
"If the men find out we can shapeshift, they are GOING TO TELL THE CHURCH!"

Lions and Tigers and... Unicorns?
"Patting unicorns? Is it like a continuation of the patting zoo at the fall ball last October?" Rita wondered when the new Care of Magical Creatures professor, Sabine Blumenthal, announced an errand for students to interact with animals in the Care of Magical Creatures area during lunch break on Feb 12th. The Second Year Hufflepuff missed the opportunity to arrive at the petting zoo at the grounds during the fall ball, and with her natural love for animals and plants, especially magical creatures, she knew this was an opportunity she could not miss. Therefore, that noon, after a light lunch, the Second Year Hufflepuff with short black hair quickly arrived at the Care of Magical Creatures area to pat the unicorns. She knew she had to arrive early since she knew unicorns are probably a popular animal due to their beauty and there were probably a lot of people there already patting the beautiful unicorns.
When Rita arrived at the Care of Magical Creatures area, as she expected, there were already several students gathering in the areas and patting the unicorns. The unicorns were absolutely beautiful with their pure white furs and horns on their foreheads, and the black-haired Hufflepuff just could not wait to pat them. The Hufflepuff decided to start with the shortest unicorn, Scarlet, since it seemed that there was the least amount of people around her, at least at present.
Rita grabbed a brush to gently brush Scarlet`s tails and manes. The Hufflepuff also started to gently pat her snow-white furs. It was the first time the muggle born Hufflepuff had seen a unicorn in her life, not to mention patting the unicorn`s furs. "I really enjoy patting Scarlet`s furs. Her furs feel so soft! I absolutely love the soft texture." The Second Year Hufflepuff thought as she was patting Scarlet`s furs.
Rita even started to talk to Scarlet as she was patting Scarlet`s furs. "Scarlet, do you enjoy bring pat gently? And do you wanna eat something? Do you know how pretty you are? And your furs are so soft!" Scarlet opened her mouth, maybe looking for some food. The Second Year Hufflepuff then grabbed some hay for the pretty unicorn to eat. Then the Hufflepuff decided to continue to talk to the unicorn, "You know, this is the first time I`ve ever seen and interacted with a unicorn in my 13 years of life. I`ve seen and ridden some horses, but a winged horse is definitely something different. Thank you for giving me this chance to interact with you. I don`t know if I would see you again in the future, so it is probably the only time I can talk to you and pat your furs, I hope you will enjoy it."
"Anyway, I think Valentine`s Day is coming close, and I still have not got any lovers, have you got any? Or do you wanna be my valentine just for this time, only for a short period of time this noon? Would you mind that?" Rita honestly could not think of anything else to say to Scarlet the unicorn, and she did not know what she was saying. She enjoyed patting the soft furs of Scarlet, giving her food, and brushing her tails and mane, but she honestly did not feel comfortable communicating with the pretty unicorn. The Second Year Hufflepuff felt a lot more comfortable communicating with her beloved cat Peanut instead. Maybe she was just more familiar with Peanut than Scarlet the Unicorn. Anyway, the Second Year Hufflepuff decided to say goodbye to the unicorn after interacting with Scarlet for quite a while, and she waved goodbye to Scarlet, "I think that was enough time spent with you. Let`s call it a day. See you later, if we would ever meet some time in the future. Thank you for spending a short period of time with me this noon, goodbye."
Before Rita took her step to leave the Care of Magical Creatures area, the Second Year Hufflepuff took a few seconds to say some gratitude words to Professor Blumenthal for organizing this errand. "Thank you for organizing this errand, Professor Blumenthal. I enjoyed patting the soft snow-white furs of the unicorns. I look forward to seeing the next interesting errand organized by you in the future. Catch you later." After saying those gratitude words to Professor Blumenthal, the Second Year Hufflepuff took her steps away from the Care of Magical Creatures area, looking forward to participating in other interesting errands in the future.

@Bernard WayeBeatrice awaited the boys answer as she watched him closely. His face was more pale looking and rather young. He most likely was around the same age as Beatrice. He was slightly shorter and for some reason she enjoyed that. One of her eyebrows went up slightly teasingly but she pushed that away and the teasing look on her face turned into an encouraging smile. Was he going to tell her to go away? She hoped he wouldn't because Beatrice felt drawn to this particular creature. Surely, every single other one would be just as lovely but with every stroke of her hand, she felt as if the horses fur was getting softer and her hand was getting warmer. Her eyes traced over his longer black hair, the small button shaped nose and his thinner lips, then down to his shoes and up again, taking in every detail from his clothes to the black eyeliner. The boys cheek's were slightly red as he opened his mouth to talk. "Oh no it's fine, like I doan own de unicawhn, yuh can stay if yuh want," Beatrice smiled as the boy spoke. His accent was rather unusual to her ears. What was that? He sounded rather shy. Beatrice was still petting the beautiful Unicorn, softly, almost as if she was scared to hurt it.
»Thank you. I really would like to stay.« she said. Why was she suddenly so smiley? Beatrice never smiled this much, unless she had to attend one of her Parents stupid balls. She suspected the Unicorns to be at fault, they were so lovely that she just couldn't do anything other than smile. The boy handed her some hay and continued his brushing. Beatrice let her fingers brush through the soft fur as she gently placed her open flat hand underneath the Unicorns mouth. Her heart skipped a beat when she felt the warm breath on her hand. The Unicorn gently took some hay from her hand and started munching. But that was all, it didn't seem to want any more after that. "So um... Im Bernard, Bernard Waye...." Beatrice took notice of the fact that he sad his full name. Also that both of their names started with a B, Bernard seemed a little shy but nice. His name was also a little older. "So um. Yuh with me?... like what's your name, or what? De unicawhn's name is Montgmmoiy." Beatrice raised her eyebrows. The Unicorn's name was Montgomery? How did he know that? She looked into the Horses beautiful eyes, feeling as if she would lose reality again. Forcing herself to look back at Bernard, Beatrice opened her lips, words falling out. Her voice was still gentle and unusually soft. Unicorn's apparently had a big effect on the tall slytherin girl.
»I'm Beatrice.« She said with a smile. »Beatrice Dupont.« She immediately wondered if he had heard of her Family in any way. There always seemed to be some people who just knew the name straight away, but would this odd boy know who her Parents or Family were? She had a feeling he might not and it relaxed her a little. »Is he really called Montgomery? What a cute name.« Beatrice turned to the unicorn again. She was still petting and brushing him, scared he would get bored of it, but it didn't seem like it. Beatrice felt like this Boy didn't want to look into her eyes. Or at her at all. He kept looking away. Maybe he lied and he actually wanted her to leave and not talk to him but why did he introduce himself then? She glanced from him back to Montgomery, awaiting an answer. Beatrice bit her lip, did she say something wrong? Mere moments went by without any of them saying anything. Without noticing, she started to hum a little. This had annoyingly become a habit and Beatrice was sure that she had annoyed Irina with it a ton of times.
"So why unicawhns?" Beatrice flinched at the sudden voice, almost pulling her hand back from the lovely creature. Montgomery didn't seem to mind so she carefully returned to petting. The humming had stopped immediately and her lips were left with a loss of words. Beatrice really wanted to bend down and in every direction possible to get Bernard to look at her. If he didn't want her here he should just say so. She wasn't gonna be mad. Okay, that was a lie. Beatrice had a lot of emotions, she only tried to drown them most of the time. »Uh..« she cleared her throat, looking back at the Unicorn. »I've never seen one in real life. They are lovely creatures and I love how calm they are.« while saying this it seemed as if Beatrice also got calmer with every word she said. She took a deep breath. »I feel like they have a beautiful heart and mind and a great personality. They are beautiful inside and out and I guess I just wanted to be blessed by their presence at least once in my life.« somehow when describing something to other people, Beatrice's words didn't sound half as beautiful as when she wrote something. It was just easier to write these things and not talk about them. »What about you Bernard? Why Unicorns? Why this lovely creature instead of another one?« She tried to smile at him again but Beatrice wasn't sure if he had even looked into her face once. A sight left her lips. »Are you really okay with me being here? I can still leave.«

@Beatrice Dupont
Interacting with @Montgomery the Unicorn
My heart fluttered everytime the corner of her mouth moved to form a graceful smile, her hands continued to graze the pure-white Unicorn. I smiled unusually big when she thanked me, sticking to my useless tactic. I handed the witch some hay, because I figured maybe he would eat from her, she was the witch wasn't she? I selfishly hoped that he wouldn't eat it. I watched carefully as I continued to brush the unicorn, the girl took the hay and raised it close to his mouth and... Montgomery ate some of it, I felt a tinge of jealously. Traitor. But all those feelings dissipated at the sight of her dewy face. I could feel my hot cheeks as I sheepishly introduced myself to the the girl. The girl looked into the eyes of the unicorn once more with a smile before meeting mine. I swore I felt like I was going to explode, as her ocean eyes met my hazel ones.
"I'm Beatrice," She said with a smile that made her look like an angel. "Beatrice Dupont."
I grinned shyly when she proceeded to say her full name, it made me feel better a little. I put down the brush as I missed the warm feeling of the unicorn under my fingers. What a coincidence we both had a name that started with B.
"Beatrice? Huh? Thats like a nice name," I said not looking at her, speaking barely audible, letting my hands go over the large celestial being. "Nice ta meet ya."
The was a small pause as they both admired the horse, and as we got out thoughts in process. I felt as if her presence was becoming easier to be around, I was becoming less tense. But it was all regained when she spoke again.
"Is he really called Montgomery? What a cute name."
I smiled dumbly, speaking before thinking.
"Huh? Yeah, I like tuh call him Monty though," I said giving him a small pat. "-de baby one's name is Starlet-" I said gesturing towards the small unicorn foal with awkward knees. "-and de big one like right dere is Twilight."
I said point I at the large Unicorn that looked so strong I was too afraid to go near it. But I didn't tell her that. I had decides to tell her the names because I guessed she had missed the beginning intro made by the professor. In order to keep the conversation you going and because I was genuinely curious. I asked her why she picked Unicorns, I placed my head upon Montgomery's belly as I listeed attentively still avoiding eye contact.
"Uh..." Beatrice cleared her throat. "I've never seen one in real life. They are lovely creatures and I love how calm they are."
I nodded understanding the words she spoke, her voice was soft and Sweet like honey. It almost made me think she was explaining herself. What she said next was nothing short of melodious, she became calmer with every word she spoke.
"I feel like they have a beautiful heart and mind and a great personality. They are beautiful inside and out and I guess I just wanted to be blessed by their presence at least once in my life."
I couldn't help but smile when I spoke. She was like a happy pill, I didn't need anything else.
"That's like pretty poetic..."
"What about you Bernard? Why Unicorns? Why this lovely creature instead of another one?"
"Why unicawhns?"
I thought for a little, thought I knew there was need too, I adjusted myself so that my back was now on the unicorn. I still refused to look at her.
"Well... First like, dey're nuttin' like me... Not even a little... Dey are pure, kind, and sweet... Dey're very existence is a mystery, how can somethin' so beautiful exist, or what? In a lyin' wawhld so ugly and battered dey like strive, dey're a light fawh so many people... Showin' dat not all like hope has been snuffed out... Ya know?" I could hear my unrefined, baby-sounding voice float through the air. I still refused to meet her face, I was scared that if she looked into them she would see that I was the ugly world, that something like her didn't belong anywhere near me. I sighed a little, what she said next changed my mind.
"Are you really okay with me being here? I can still leave." Beatrice said trying to muster up a smile, but only released a sigh.
"Huh?" I said in confusion. Did I make her uncomfortable or made her feel unwelcomed? I frowned, was I unpleasant or rude? I let out a sigh.
"Sorry, haha! Im just like extremely awkward... I didn't mean to make you feel unwanted...." I let out a small laugh, my loud, awkward, and cutting causing a small disturbance amongst the unicorns. My mama says though that my laugh just never grew up. I couldn't help but smile a little at that memory. Before I knew it, all the students were leaving. I looked around and frowned, was time already up? Who knew an hour would go by so quickly, I didn't want to live, not now, not ever.... But I knew I didn't have a choice. I let Montgomery's face once again.
"Bai Monty," I said with a sad smile, before turning to the lovely girl that was taller than me. My cheeks burned more than when I got sunburn, I finally met her eyes, I tried to talk with no words. Finally I choked up some words.
"It was nice meeting ya, Bai Miss Beatrice," I said stuffing my hands into my pockets with a shy smile, I looked back at my feet before leaving. Stealing one more glance at the girl and the unicorn that stole this augurey's heart.

Lions and Tigers and... Unicorns?
Feburary 12th, 2023- 12:00-1:00 PMW/C- 657Animals were one of the many things that Aisley absolutely adored, and it was no secret that animals seemed to love her as well. Aisley just had that type of aura, the calming one, they type that made anyone instantly forget all of their anger, frustration, and fear. Animals felt safe in her presence, and that was one major advantage she had above all of her peers, especially when it came to errands involving animals.
Professor Blumenthal, the professor that taught Care of Magical Creatures had offered a unique experience to all students, to be able to be in the presence of one of three magical creatures for one whole hour. Not only would you get to be in their presence, but students were allowed to brush, pet, and even feed the creatures. Out of the three creatures to offer, Aisley had chosen the unicorn.
The pink-haired girl couldn't be more excited to have this experience! So that's why at 11:45 in the morning, Aisley could be seen making her way towards the Care of Magical Creatures class area, making sure she would be on time for the hour of Unicorns.
When the pink haired girl approached the forest, she saw the Professor with her arms stretched toward three of the most beautiful creatures Aisley had ever seen. The two largest had fur as white as snow, while the youngest, a foal, had shiny gold fur. Aisley's mouth dropped open a bit in amazement before she closed it, finishing the rest of the distance towards the Professor.
After a couple of minutes just standing in the presence of the Unicorns, the Professor began to speak, explaining where the buckets of hay and the brushes were. The Professor then went to explain the names of all three Unicorns. The tallest one was Twilight, the second tallest was called Montgomery, and the third (the foal) was Starlet. After they were dismissed and the actual errand started, Aisley went straight over to Starlet the foal.
Aisley kept a calm composure as she approached the young unicorn, hoping that she won't scare the creature. It seemed luck was on her side today when Starlet started moving towards her, letting Aisley pet her shiny, golden fur. The fur was like a soft blanket as she began to run her hand through Starlet's fur, beginning to talk to the young foal, "Aren't you just the most beautiful thing in the world." She murmured.
For Aisley, this was a moment of pure bliss, a perfect moment. One so serene that you'd think something is wrong. But there wasn't. It was just her and Starlet and the other students around her, marveling in the beauty of these fantastic creatures. Aisley stood up, walking over to grab a handful of hay from the bucket before moving back over to Starlet.
Aisley put a little bit of hay into her hand, offering it over towards the foal. To her surprise, the foal eagerly began to eat they hay out of her hand, Aisley soon having to replace the hay in her hand. Aisley slighly laughed, smiling at the Unicorn with a bright smile on her face.
Once all they hay she grabbed was gone, she once again began to pet Starlet's golden fur, entranced by the beauty. She wished she could stay forever with the foal, happily petting Starlets' fur, never having to go to any classes again. Though unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, including the hour for the errand.
So Aisley gave a few last pets to Starlet, muttering a small, 'goodbye' before standing up onto her feet. Once the group had been allowed to leave, Aisley started to take the long walk back up to the Ravenclaw common room, looking back towards the foal she'd grown to love, wishing that she could've had more than an hour to bond with the most beautiful creature she'd ever seen.

@Bernard WayeBernard put down the brush and started petting the beautiful creature with his hands. Beatrice watched him carefully. Why had she never seen this boy? He must be a first year and she would have definitely noticed him at some point if they were in a class together. It was nearly impossible that they had never met. She chewed on her lip as her hands gently brushed through the white fur. "Beatrice? Huh? Thats like a nice name," she barely catched what he was saying, his voice was as quiet as a rain drop blobbing against a window on it's own. Bernard still wasn't looking at her but at least he was talking. She almost missed what he said next, watching his hands pet the creature. "Nice ta meet ya." he said. Beatrice smiled. »Nice to meet you too Bernard.« she continued petting the creature. Beatrice felt like she could stay here forever, watching the beautiful creatures and petting them or perhaps draw them. She mentally slapped herself, this would have been the perfect opportunity to draw a real unicorn. One that she could look at from all angles and admire. Then again, if she had done that, she probably wouldn't have met Bernard and maybe she wouldn't have had the pleasure to pet this beautiful creature. Bernard seemed to get a little calmer and less shy, so Beatrice asked if this creatures name was really Montgomery, as he had told her a few minutes ago. Apparently that made him less calm again, because he tensed up a little. Regardless of that, Bernard started to introduce all of the Unicorns. It was the first time that she saw him smile. Bernard told her that he called the creature Monty, which made her smile as well. He pointed to the foal and started talking. "-de baby one's name is Starlet -and de big one like right dere is Twilight." she turned with his gestures, watching every creature in awe. Then there was a moment of silence, Beatrice continued to pet Montgomery but also looked around a little. She wasn't sure what time it was, but that didn't really bother her right now, surely they still had time. Bernard then asked why she had picked the Unicorns. Beatrice explained but felt that her answer sounded a little dumb, Bernard however didn't think so.
"That's like pretty poetic..." she raised her eyebrow but decided to not comment on that. Then she asked why he choose the Unicorns. He thought about it a little before answering. Ya know?" she nodded as she listened and smiled. His words sounded nice but also as if he was kind of talking himself down a little. Why did he say he wasn't kind? Or sweet? Sure, he didn't seem like the usual eleven year old, but who was in these days. He had been nice to her the whole time, well nice was the wrong word, friendly? Well, he didn't make her leave and he talked to her. She didn't believe that he couldn't be kind. »Not kind? I'm sure you are Bernard, the opposite of kind is mean or rude and you haven't been that yet.« she quietly said with an encouraging smile. Beatrice knew all to well that she was rude sometimes, actually, a lot of times but gladly no one had taken that the wrong way for now. Was he really okay with her talking to him tho? It didn't really feel like it right now. She tried to smile at him again but Beatrice wasn't sure if he had even looked into her face once. A sight left her lips. »Are you really okay with me being here? I can still leave.« Bernard immediately seemed confused. Apparently she had said something wrong? He frowned. "Sorry, haha! Im just like extremely awkward... I didn't mean to make you feel unwanted...." then Bernard laughed a little, a laugh that seemed so different yet quite nice. She nodded and smiled at him next, then there was silence. And then it was time to leave. Beatrice said goodbye to the beautiful Unicorn and pet it one last time. Bernard also said good bye to him. Suddenly he turned to her and finally, he met her eyes. A bright smile spread across her lips "It was nice meeting ya, Bai Miss Beatrice," he said and proceeded to stuff his hands into his pockets. »It was nice to meet you to Bernard.« A shy smile sat on his face and he looked down to his feet and then left. He looked at her one last time and she waved at him, then Beatrice looked around one last time, said goodbye to Professor Blumenthal and then went her way, sadly leaving the beautiful creatures. Hopefully she would see Bernard again sometime.Leaving thread/errand

Lions and Tigers and... Unicorns?

Spoken Words:X|Thoughts: X
Really amazing things happened during the month of love, especially for first-year students who were not yet able to attend lectures on the Care Of Magical Creatures. At Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, miracles were commonplace. When he first arrived at the location where the errand took place, he found a bunch of pupils grouped together from different years and heights.
Ashley had never been a big fan of animals; he didn't hate them when he saw them; he just wasn't interested in learning more about them. He hoped that the Care of Magical Creatures subject in the upper years wouldn't be challenging. However, he had a certain interest in one creature from the wizarding world, so he did not fully despise the magical species. He had vague dreams of a unicorn standing far away when he was a child, maybe this is what influenced him to love them.
When he finally visited the library to learn more about magical beings, he always ignored the other creatures and paged until he discovered something on unicorns. The unicorns are renowned magical beings that are thought to be the purest in the universe. Wandmakers might create wand cores utilizing this most pure creature. In lesson two of Potions, first-year students learned about unicorn horns. It was an intriguing notion that fueled Ashley's enthusiasm.
"Welcome to the unicorn portion of today's errand. Wonderful choice you've made, to spend your time with the unicorns. There are buckets of hay for you to feed them; if they aren't hungry, don't make them eat. I have provided some brushes to brush their manes and tails, and you may pet their fur. Watch out for the hind legs, as they can kick if irritated. Our unicorns are used to humans, but they still tend to prefer witches to wizards--boys, don't give them a reason to mistrust you, okay?"
Everyone was warned by Professor Blumenthal about what to expect. Boys' faces started to droop as they grew progressively more worried. They did not want to cause themselves any embarrassment by getting kicked by these fascinating creatures.
"Our tallest unicorn is Twilight. The second tallest is Montgomery, and the foal is Starlet. Treat them kindly or I'll have you cleaning up their dung for a month. And trust me, that dung is nowhere near as pretty as they are." The professor told the pupils. Twilight was the fascinating unicorn who piqued Ashley's curiosity.
Ashley then went to where the professor was standing to get some Brushes. He rarely would, but he wanted to spend time with these animals. And this really was a lucky day. The young man approached the Twilight unicorn without deviating. Although he was a little anxious, he chose to remain serene because he didn't want to enrage the unicorn.
In addition, the professor cautioned boys to exercise caution because unicorns tend to be more kind to witches than wizards.
As he turned to face Twilight, the little Ravenclaw boy grinned subtly. "Hello, Twilight. My name is Ashley." The young man was relieved of his prior anxiety. He approached the unicorn gently while holding the brush in his hands. He lightly stroked it with his free arm after placing it on its back. He then gently brushed the rear of it with the hand he was using to hold the brush. He chose not to feed it as other student might have fed it to the fullest.
"I'm pleased we have the opportunity since I've always wanted to see and speak to a unicorn." The boy brushed it gently while beaming at it. He experienced a sense of connecting with the mystical being. He thought he was speaking to his parents at that same moment because it was such a fantastic experience. Even so, he was obliged to depart and felt a twinge of grief since he didn't want to leave the mystical creature, but time was running out.
"I hope to meet you once I do Care of Magical Creatures subject, Twilight." He was so overwhelmed by emotions that he shed one small tear. For the young man, saying goodbye was never easy because he had lost a lot as a child. Eventually, he did hope to run into Twilight again.

Lions and Tigers and... Unicorns?
Sunday 12th February, 12.00 - 13.00
Alyn had not expected to get up to much today, he planned on studying for his Defense Against the Dark Arts class but he got an extreme urge to experience something new instead when he found out about the errand that would allow him to touch a unicorn of all things, he glossed over them when reading his 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' book when he first arrived at Hogwarts.
He didn't think he could touch any magical creatures until he was in his fourth year so this was an opportunity that he just had to take up, screw his DADA Studies, it would be years before he could possibly do this again.
So he made his way down to where the Care of Magical Creatures classes were regularly held and listened as Professor Sabine Blumenthal explained what to and what not to do "Welcome to the unicorn portion of today's errand.
Alyn had a wide smile as he got a look at the tallest one of the three that were there, he already wanted to go up and touch it before the Professor even finished "Our tallest unicorn is Twilight. The second tallest is Montgomery, and the foal is Starlet. Treat them kindly or I'll have you cleaning up their dung for a month. And trust me, that dung is nowhere near as pretty as they are."
Once the errand had actually started, it took him a while to get enough courage to walk up to the tallest of the unicorns, Twilight, who had stunning white fur that could almost blind you, and a foal of pure gold "Please don't kick me..Please don't kick me." he whispered to himself as he got closer, and then proceeded to stroke Twilight's beautiful golden mane with the brush he been given, to which Alyn eased up once he realized the unicorn was friendly.
"You know." he began to whisper to the Unicorn "You aren't too bad, and you are almost as beautiful as me might I say." he giggled, receiving a snort in return from the creature "It was a joke, don't you worry." this was a completely new experience to Alyn, he had never even touched a horse back home so to be touching something as magnificent as a Unicorn was an exhilarating experience and he was more than pleased that he chose this over studying.
He moved away from the unicorn, walking over to grab a handful of hay from only a few steps away before returning, allowing Twilight to eat from his hand "I'm Alyn." he said, that same broad smile on his face was even wider now, along with a long giggle from the tickling he was in the palm of his hand.
After a moment, he decided to get up and allow someone else to take a turn with the creature, stroking it one last time "Perhaps I will see you again some other time, you have been great company, Twilight." he whispered, waving to the beast before walking away, punching the air in excitement as he left the area, he looked forward to any other exciting errands he could do next.

Lions and Tigers and... Unicorns?
This was all anyone had been talking about all week. This delightful day on a crisp Sunday afternoon where they would be greeted by strange and wonderful magical creatures. Bea had absolutely loved the idea of being able to meet the creatures, wanting to meet every single one. Her hopes had been severely dashed as she was told that she could only meet one single species. She'd chosen the unicorns, the animal that had peaked her interest the most. The augurey and jackalopes had appealed to her but not as much a the unicorns. Perhaps it was because her Nan had always told her bed-time stories of unicorns, making up stories to go along with their mystical magical powers. Even her Granny loved them, drawing and painting them along with the Fair Folk. Although Beatrice didn't tell her what they were truly like. Unicorns though, were sweet and gentle, and about the most pure wholesome creatures you could find on this earth. Bea had always loved them, and she was glad this new Professor had allowed everyone, not just the older students to participate in the event.

Bea had been buzzing since breakfast, and as the time approached for her to meet the creatures her excitement grew. She could see them, their white shiny coats gleaming in the Winter sun, as she approached the Magical Creatures pen. Bea hadn't actually been here before, the elective (something she planned on wholeheartedly doing next year) wasn't open to her yet. When she got to the pen, she could see there were a few other excited students there too. And three, not just one unicorn! How amazing! The fact that it was a family just made the entire experience wholesome.
As she listened to the Professor's advice and warning about unicorns, she supposed they were similar to horses. Her family didn't own any but there were quite a few tucked away in the outskirts of Ellon where she lived. The horses there were shy, and didn't like big crowds of people, and as Bea thought about it, really only liked the farmer that owned them. These unicorns must have a lot of trust in the new Professor.
As the time came for the students to interact, Bea approached the second tallest, Montgomery. Even though Twilight would have been perfectly acceptable, she was still an ickle second year and a short one at that too. Concessions had to be made. Approaching Montgomery, she placed her palm out for the creature to sniff, hoping it wouldn't bite her. When a few short puffs of air landed on her palm and nothing else Bea took it as a sign she was allowed to come closer. She smiled happily. Running her hands down the creatures neck , she leaned in and whispered, "This is the best day of my life. Thank you for allowing me to be here." And that was exactly it- the unicorns could turn around and not want any of the students there and they had to accept it. The unicorns had thoughts and feelings and were allowed to be free without constraint.
As she looked around she could see that some f the unicorns were being fed, but heeding Professor Blumenthal's warning about overfeeding, she would leave the feeding of Montgomery to someone else. Grabbing a brush from the supplies, she came back to the unicorn and started to slowly but firmly brush down his beck and back. A comb, she supposed would be useful for his mane, and Bea decided once she was done brushing him she would do just that- just enjoy her time in the outdoors with such a magnificent creature.
Time passed, and once Bea had completed these self-given tasks, she sighed. It was probably time to give another student a turn with Montgomery. With a final stroke down his neck, Bea thanked him reverently, "Thank you again. Goodbye for now," ad left. This would be a good time to tell her Nan all about her day!
