xxxAs Clair Fernandez descended upon the quaffle, all Maggie could think was how stupid of an idea it was. Why on earth would the keeper go for the quaffle? She should be keeping their goal posts safe from harm, but she was down and dirty on the ground with the chasers. Maggie had half a mind to declare herself a winner already. That is, until Clair Fernandez pulled something that absolutely nobody expected: three scores. That was thirty points to Occamy Storm and zero to the So Good Awesome Quidditch Team. Maggie clenched her fist and slightly hit it against her thigh, glowering. In her stillness, it seemed that someone found it a golden opportunity to send a bludger at her.

Not that it counted. Maggie swerved out of the way quick as a rabbit, gripping the front of her broomstick and yelping as the bludger sailed by her head, hair whipping against her cool skin. Colin McCoire and his damn annoying voice were, of course, the culprits. Revenge came in an instant, though, when he was hit in the back with a bludger sent to him by their very own Simon Kincaid.

"Hell yeah, Simon! Get him!" All disappointment at not scoring any points quickly faded away when Simon hit the gnat buzzing around Maggie's face. Take that, McCoire.

Chasers + Keepers

It appeared as if the previous plays had ruffled some feathers, but June saw no issue with it. Perhaps her studying of the sport of broom racing had made June... Less than empathetic to the sport of quidditch. Throwing rocks at your opponents in racing versus having a keeper play a chaser, the two just didn't seem to equate.

And so nothing was done against Occamy Storm's hat trick of a round as the game reset.

The quaffles were released once more, and it seemed Maggie's intuition finally showed up. In a blur, the chaser streaked across the sky, grabbing all three quaffles and speeding towards the goal hoops. With a look of knowing determination, Ava and Irina sprung into action, pushing their brooms to their limit as they fought to keep up with Maggie. The two first-years began to press in on either side of Maggie, who was managing to steer her broom with 3 quaffles in her hand. As Maggie turned to avoid the two, a quaffle slipped out of her grip and right into Ava's arms.

Without a second thought, Ava held the quaffle and bolted to the opposing team's goals, tossing the ball in with an effortless grace.

As for Maggie, she was at the disadvantage of not knowing what Clair was like as a keeper. She darted left, then quickly right, faking out the Ravenclaw keeper as the two quaffles made it through the hoop.

"Well done, chasers! That's ten more for Occamy Storm and twenty for the So Good Awesome Quidditch Team! Merlin, that's a mouthful..."

Simon was one player whose aforementioned feathers appeared to be ruffled. Why not take down two birds with one stone, as it were? With a loud crack, the Hufflepuff prefect sent a bludger flying towards Clair Fernandez. His aim was true, the bludger slamming into the girl's side just as Maggie had finished scoring.

Lucian also seemed to have a mind to take out some frustrations against Violet Grace, but what exact frustrations they were June was unable to tell what exactly said frustration could be. The timing of his swing was a moment too late, and the bludger went flying in Violet's direction, but fairly far below her.

Clair let out a deep breath, well keeper was a harder place then she thought it would be. As the Ravenclaw broom racer playing Quidditch Keeper let out a breath someone decided that she needed help with that breath. As the Bludger Bludgered into Clair's side the Ravenclaw let out a squeak, well more of a "ooof" before looking around the see where it was coming from. Ahh, yes. Simon, the ever fluffy friendly and happy Hufflepuff. So this is what would happened when you got on his wrong side, made sense, the first day she met Simon poor Kit had gotten on Simon's wrong side she everyone knew how that had ended. "That'll leave a nice mark!" She called to Simon, there was no anger or anything in her voice, she had kept it light. This was just a game, and he was just doing what he was doing.

Clair ran her finger down her broom and got ready for the next round of whatever would happen, hopefully this meant she would not get pummeled yet again, but she trusted that she would be safe and that her team would have fun, no matter what.
Clair settled back to her broom, ready to go once more.

Making some progress! That was always a good thing! "There we go!" he shouted - encouraging his fellow teammates to get their morale up and keep those points coming. In quidditch, it was up to the position of the chasers and the seekers to obtain the points. For the beater like him, and for the position of keeper, it was their role to prevent points from being obtained by the other team.

And that's what he set out to do! With a crisp breeze blowing in his face, Simon settled himself on his broom. He was thankful for broom racing and all the obstacles they faced during practice and in the races because it made him steady on his broom and confident. Maybe things wouldn't always go in his favor, but he didn't worry too much about balance.

He grasped the bat that he held firmly and kept his eye out for the bludger, ready to work out his next target. Time to stop Occamy Storm from racking up a high score. His team was in the process of trying to catch up.

I watched Maggie soar off with three quaffles in her evil clutches, don’t pull a Clair! I felt hope as Ava and Ree tried to catch up with her. “YOU GOT THIS!” I yelled to them, they pressed into either side of her and as Maggie turned to avoid them, a miracle quaffle slipped out of her grasp and straight into Ava's arms.

“Come on Ava,” I whispered, following the fellow Slytherin as she zoomed. She tossed it into the other hoop and I cheered. That was ten more points for us!! We have got to still be in the lead even if Maggie scored now.

“Aw dang it,” I muttered as she scored with two quaffles. We were still better though!

"Well done, chasers! That's ten more for Occamy Storm and twenty for the So Good Awesome Quidditch Team! Merlin, that's a mouthful..." I laughed slightly. We were still winning!

Soon after, I saw Clair get whacked by the bludger. "Goddamn it!" I yelled, whacking the broom in anger. "Oi Colin, Is yeh girlfriend okay!?" I teased - he didn't think I didn't see him staring when he himself was hit. I aimed my bat and used my full strength to hit the murder ball at Violet, I rested my head on the end of the broom as it flew just under her.

Second round was even crazier then the first one. She knew the other team would answer fiercely to their winning start. Before the knew three quaffles got released, Irina took a quick less glance at Colin, to make sure he was alright and didn't needed any help, that bludger went really hard on her friend. But she didn't got much time until all was set up again and she had to maintain all focus in getting her team to continue to score.

This time, Maggie was proving why she was one of the Slytherin's quidditch team chasers. The blond girl flew in the sky like a rocket, was nearly impossible to beat her and grab the quaffles. Let's be fair saying that her skills and broom were far better then hers or Ava and it was really hard to keep up with her rhythm. But Irina and Ava wouldn't give up easily. As the older Slytherin took the three Quaffles, the younger Occami shared a knowing look. Both ripped the skies towards Maggie, Ree was flying has fast as she could, her hands holding tightly at her broom her focus was on Maggie but she made sure not losing Ava from sight too, what they were about to do needed coordination or they would fail to take the quaffle from the other's team chaser. And they did for two quaffles, luckily the third one escaped Maggie's hold and Ava grabbed it with ease. Without waiting for the other team to react Ava scored more 10 points to the Occamy Storm, "WOHOOOO GO AVA! NICE ONE!" Irina cheered trying to keep them motivated after suffering two goals from Maggie. The game was now 40-20, they just have to keep up with the good work! But her cheering got shaken up by a muffled pain sound coming from behind her. She immediately turned to see what happened to Clair, she was hit by a bludger thrown by Simon. For real, that boy has real good aim! Poor Clair, that must had hurt...Irina pointed her thumb up in the way she was asking the Ravenclaw was okay, Seeing her get into position for the next round, Ree let out a sigh of relief, I see why Colin likes her so much!

Lucian also made his attempt to strike on Vee. Irina wasn't sure if she was happy or not with he missing her...she didn't want her friend to get hurt...but it would be good and helpful to start hitting some of them too...it would be even harder to win if they run out of players!

As the game went on, Colin got into the whole seeking the snitch thing. High above the chaos of chasers and beaters, Colin thought about quidditch. It was really not that much different than hunting mice! Snitches were once birds, he'd read, long ago before they started making enchanted balls. Birds and mice. Both were small, both were fast, and both darted about like crazy little buggers! He'd gotten pretty good at catching mice over the last year, perhaps to the surprise (or disgust!) of some students. He hadn't eaten one in ages of course, and not many people knew that he ever did. Of course, rumours spread quickly! But if anyone were interested in the truth, all they had to do was ask around the owlery! They'd soon discover the true beneficiaries of Colin's hunting prowess!

As Colin was hunting, he checked in on Vee every now and then, thinking to discover if she'd caught sight of the snitch. He heard cheering and yelling from below. Clair was shouting something, presumably at Simon! Bloke must have bonked her pretty good! Colin huffed. If this were a broom race, he'd throw something at him for sure! Because wasn't it Simon who had knocked Colin off his broom and into unconsciousness during the first race!

"CLAIR! You okay?" he called out to her. She didn't seem to be badly hurt or anything. It was a rough sport, quidditch. Not quite as bad as racing, but he knew she could handle anything! He was happy to hear June announce the scores as they came in. Part of him was miffed that Maggie had gotten two quaffles by Clair; but as he thought about it, if this had been a regular game against the Gryffindorks or something, he'd be shouting MAAAAAAGGIIIIIEEEE!! like a mad man! And happily, Ava scored as well!

The game continued as the intensity grew. Violet was still on the search for the golden snitch but her eyes didn't see anything like a little flying ball. She also noticed Colin checking her a few times, to see if the girl had spotted the snitch instead. She was too focused on searching for above the other players but she saw Maggie speeding towards the goal hoops and Irina and Ava trying to stop her. Violet hoped that they wouldn't succeed. Then Maggie showed her Quidditch skills and scored 20 points for their team! Vee cheered in joy. But then one of the quaffles slipped out of Maggie's grip and Ava from the opposite team scored a goal without a second thought.

Occamy team still had higher points but the So Good Awesomè Quidditch Team was close! Violet, still happy about Maggie's goals despite all of this, almost didnt notice a bludger aggressively coming towards her. As soon as she noticed it, she instinctively grabbed her broom and went higher, causing the bludger to fly below her, she didn't wanna imagine how it would hurt if she didn't notice it.

She took a quick look at Lucian's disappointed face and smiled to herself. The scores from her teammate and herself escaping from the bludger made her feel more motivated and confident.

xxxSomehow, in between nearly every game she found herself playing, Maggie always seemed to forget how good it felt it be up there in the air, grasping at straws and trying to make big gains. The wind was harsh against her face, cool on her normally warm skin, and it whipped her hair back against her cheeks. It almost felt like a stinging pain, the ends of her hair poking into her gentle skin, but there was truly nowhere Maggie would rather be than up in the sky.

Other than her bed, of course.

It would never be underestimated, at least by Maggie, the feeling of actually getting a hold of a Quaffle. As Maggie scooped up two, she felt herself completely giving up control. It was times like this where she didn't care about winning, only feeling alive up in the sky in a way that she never would've even dreamed in the muggle world. Of course, that sort of thinking came to an end when the true spirit of competition reared its ugly head. Two girls--Irina and Ava--came up on either side of her, crowding Maggie's space in a manner that even she couldn't manage to squeeze through. Her grip loosened on a ball, and it popped out of her hands. Well, no use crying over spilled milk. Instead, Maggie narrowed her eyes and pressed ahead, away from the two girls. They could have their Quaffle. Two was better than one anyhow. Rearing up, faking left and then right to trick Clair out, Maggie sent the Quaffles sailing through the goalposts, effectively scoring twenty points for their team.
