The sun was high in the clear blue sky on the wintery Saturday. The great lake was mostly frozen over, but a section of the water near the shore was thawed and sectioned off with rope for the group of daring students who responded to the invitation for a "Polar Plunge". Caretaker Finley Greer had hung posters around the school advertising the event, where the group run into the ice cold water in the freezing weather. Why? No better way to start the new year than with an adventure, Fin figured.

As the students were arriving and Nurse Frogge was setting up supplies, Finley went from person to person handing out small pieces of parchment to everyone. "Hiya! This is for you, write something on it that you would like to do or see in yourself this year. Like a vision board or something," she'd say with a smile.

Once it seemed like everyone had arrived, Finley would cup her hands around her mouth to shout her instructions. "Okay, everyone gather around here! Do not run into the lake until I say 'go', understood?" She waited until the gaggle of students had made their way over and surrounded the caretaker. "Alright, everyone excited? First things first, you can't swim past the barrier in the lake, so don't even try. It should be shallow enough for those of you who aren't the most confident swimmers. Make sure you take your paper in! It's been enchanted to dissolve instantly in the water, so don't worry about anyone seeing what you've written if you'd like to keep it private. Anything to add, Frogge?"

Finley turned to the nurse who was standing beside her as he spoke. "Please wait for Miss Greer's signal before you enter the water, and do not stay in for longer than five minutes... And even five is sort of pushing it, really..."

"They'll be fine," Fin chided. "Once you're out, run over to us and we'll give you a nice warm coat to heat you up. The water is going to be COLD, okay? So just.. Brace yourself." The caretaker excitedly clapped her hands together. "Okay, I think that's everything! Everyone ready? Set...GO!"

Haven was not typically brave.
Her character traits usually consisted of talkative, loud, annoying, aggressively friendly... but usually never brave. So why she was doing this, she wasn't quite sure. Especially when the last time she tried to go swimming, she ended up having to swim like double the amount!
Really, Haven was still a bit upset over the outcome of that Triathalon.
But, Haven was fully prepared for the Polar Plunge. Or so she thought. She lived right next to the ocean, and was constantly outdoors, so she was used to the frigid waters on their shoreline. However, she usually was not in the habit of going for an early morning swim in the middle of winter. Or any time in winter. Why did she decide to do this again?

Nevertheless, she dutifully changed into her bathing suit (which she was not expecting to need, especially this early in the semester), put on a festive hat for the occasion, bundled herself in a blanket, and marched her way to meet Ivy, whom she had challenged to a race.

After talking the poor girl's ear off for a solid 5 minutes, Haven finally exclaimed, "3... 2... 1... Go!" and ran off. The blanket she wore flapped wildly, and she did her best not to trip on it. That would be embarrassing, and Haven had enough embarrassments to last her a lifetime.
As they made their way closer to the lake, the race got tighter. One girl pulled ahead, then the other, and... IVY PULLED AHEAD OF HER!
Haven could hardly believe her tiny little mind. She had the worst of luck when it came to races. So, she sulked over to the group of students, but even one failure couldn't keep a smile off her face for very long, though Ivy would likely want to rub it in a bit later.

She stood, patiently awaiting instructions whilst surrounded by a bunch of cold students, who were about to be more cold once they dove into the lake. Honestly, why did any of them sign up for this? It was too late now, though! No takebacksies!

The wind was cold on her poor little bare ankles, but the thought of wearing socks in the water seemed worse. Eugh. She did not want to have wet socks.

At long last, it was time! In her cold fingers, Haven took a quill, and carefully thought out her answer. What goals did she have for the year? What visions...? She tried to think as fast as she could, as she was quite cold, but everything that she thought of managed to include soup. And her goals for the year generally she did not want to include soup. Otherwise she'd somehow end up in a bath of it. Although, that didn't sound like such a bad idea now...

"Aha!" Haven proclaimed. She finally had the perfect idea. It was great, stupendous, awesome, magnificent! In her bubbly script, she carefully wrote down a few words:
Don't make a fool of yourself this year! :)

It was positively perfect, and just what Haven needed. Somehow, she had always managed to get herself into the habit of being in sticky situations. Namely, around this time last year, and the whole bubble incident... at least she made a new friend out of it, she supposed?

"I'm going first," she declared to her friend, holding out the blanket for Ivy to take. At the first burst of cold wind, she held her little slip of paper tighter to her chest, as if it would somehow keep her warm. A little spoiler alert: it did not.

Paper in hand, the redhead marched her way down to the little diving area. She pulled her hat on her head a little further, and prepared herself to jump.

"3... 2..."

Splash.

Haven had slipped into the lake.

"Cold, cold!" she proclaimed as she came up for air, kicking and splashing. If the ocean was cold, the Black Lake had to be a freezer. She was about to become a frozen toaster strudel. Haven splashed around, trying to find the bottom to keep her head up, but somehow managed to keep missing, and so instead, ended up flopping around like a dead worm. Or a chicken with it's head cut off. Take your pick.

Finally, Haven managed to splash her way around a little bit more, and heaved her frozen little body back onto land, ready for a warm, fuzzy coat to envelop her.

"I am never doing that again."

"Writing a parchment about your expectation for the new year then go into the water to throw the paper into the water? That sounds such a cool thing to do! I know the water in the great lake is quite cold, especially during the cold January, but that`s the charm of it! Only the bravest people would do this! I will definitely go to the Great Lake and check this out!" When Rita saw the notice for the challenge at the great lake as the celebrate for this brand-new year on Jan 7th, just two days after she came back to her for the second half of her second year in Hogwarts, she was determined that this is an errand she would not miss. Without much hesitation, the Second Year Hufflepuff decided to run straight to the great lake and check out this thrilling activity.

When nearly everyone who was brave to try out this event had arrived at the great lake and stood beside the lake, Ms. Finley Greer, the caretaker of the school, gave everyone a piece of paper and asked everyone to write out their expectations for the new year before she called out names to ask them to go into the water and throw the paper. When Rita received her piece of parchment, she quickly began to write, and that was what the second year Hufflepuff wrote:
Time passes fast! In a matter of seconds, the year 2022 had faded away, and it is already January 7th, 2023. For this new year, I decide to continue to work hard at my studies, pay attention in class and complete all of my homework, so I can achieve good grades and not make the professors and my parents feel disappointed. Besides that, I am going to continue to try to be nice to people when they are not super mean to me and continue to make a few friends and maintain new relationship with my existing friends. In addition, I am going to continue to participate in the activities, errands, and events at Hogwarts and make my life at Hogwarts even more colorful. Oh, I forgot to mention Quidditch, I will continue to practice hard at my Quidditch training and make myself tougher on the broom and make some progress from being knocked down in the first round during the fall Quidditch match last October despite our win against Gryffindor by 410-10. Alright, those are the things I need to do this year and I wish I will have a fruitful and happy year.
When Rita had finished writing her piece of parchment, she just stood beside the great lake, watching others struggle in the water and waiting for her name to be called so she could go down the lake and throw her piece of paper. Finally, someone announced that it was her turn to jump into the water and throw her paper into the water to complete the errand. "OK, I will do it now!" She responded loudly to the school caretaker, then jumped into the lake for the first time. "Gosh, the water is so freezing cold during January!" When the second year Hufflepuff jumped into the lake, she quickly found herself struggle in the cold water, quivering and rubbing her hands, which did not help to warm herself up. She quickly threw her piece of parchment into the cold water, then immediately got out the water. Her clothes were all wet, and she quickly regretted her decision to jump into the cold water during January. "Gosh, could anyone hand me a towel? I am literally freezing! I would never do this thing again! I would not jump into the cold water during January again, not even when someone pay me a trillion galleons! Anyway, I have to admit jumping into the water during the cold January is an extremely thrilling thing to do during the beginning of this new year, and thank you so much for organizing this creative errand at the beginning of this year, it is an unforgettable experience!" The shivering second year Hufflepuff said her final words before she quickly went to find a towel to cover herself and prevent herself from getting a cold when the new year just began.

Valarie was excited. She had saw the notice for jumping in the lake and knew almost instantly she would be joining it. Now that she was there she was struggling to remember why exactly she had wanted to do this in the first place. She took a deep breath and focused her mind on thinking of goals for the new year.

Bravery is something I come short of a lot. I’m a quiet person and honestly, I stick to myself a lot. Perhaps if I was braver I could have the courage to talk to more people and surround myself with more people that books. She stoped, not knowing what to put next. She thought more about her year at the wonderful school found another goal.

I’d also like to be able to not get as nervous when it comes to new, high stress situations. I’m normally a calm, pretty collected person but sometimes I get anxious. Perhaps being braver would help with this habit. Once again she stoped writing. She didn’t have many goals that she felt needed to be achieved. Valarie read through her finished product but still felt the need to add something else. She read through the parchment once more and knew what needed to be added.

Work harder. It was a simple goal, she knew, but it was also an important one. It was the last thing she wrote before she read the full list of goals:

Bravery is something I come short of a lot. I’m a quiet person and honestly, I stick to myself a lot. Perhaps if I was braver I could have the courage to talk to more people and surround myself with more people that books. I’d also like to be able to not get as nervous when it comes to new, high stress situations. I’m normally a calm, pretty collected person but sometimes I get anxious. Perhaps being braver would help with this habit. Work harder. She nodded silently at the finished piece. She looked up from her parchment to find it was just about a minute away from jumping. She gazed at the grayish blue lake thoughtfully. Lost in her thoughts, she almost didn’t hear the shout to go. She ran toward the lake and plunged down into the freezing cold waters. She knew that she hadn’t gone that far down but it still felt like she had jumped too far down to be able to get up. Using all of her strength and energy, she pushed herself up through the water. Panting, when she hit the cold air. She struggled to the side of the lake and pulled herself up. She found herself wrapped in a coat that helped cut down on her freezing feeling. She looked to her hand, where the parchment had been, and sure enough it had disappeared like it was said. Somehow, Valarie found herself feeling braver than she had before she jumped in the lake. Maybe writing down that bravery was something she fell short of having had somehow helped her to find some bravery of her own.

Oh gosh, Hannah had agreed to run into the freezing water. Water... oh right, she had almost drowned the last time she went into water. Well, this time she wasn't alone. The cold water wasn't what scared her, it was the water itself.

This is not happening, this is not happening she kept thinking.

She had taken a piece of parchment and written what she wanted to do or see herself in, well what did she write? See for yourself:
Reducio
2023, new year new me. I'd like to win the house cup for Gryffindor, ever since I started Hogwarts, Gryffindor hasn't won the house cup, not even once. Also, I've just entered the Quidditch team, so I'd like us Gryffindors to win at least a few matches. (we probably will, but anyway).

The birthday ball, that's the Blossom family tradition, an anual ball for every year that one of the Blossom's completes a year, this year since I just started Hogwarts I'll be able to invite some of the pure-blooded students, or someone like me who has a pure-blood parent and has a Veela grandmother, or a high status half blood. This year I hope it'll be different, and I'll be able to chose the ball gown I'll wear, and not my mother. The ball hapens every year until a member of the Blossom family turns eighteen, I have cousins, but they live in America, and family can only attend the ball if they live close to Scotland, which I'm pretty sure California is not might I add.

That's it, all I want for this year.
Happy with the result Hannah was ready to run into the water, but she had to wait a little more, for the other students to finish writing what they wanted for this year, so that meant Hannah had some time to think.

Wow 2023... what a year it's been, I think I remember everything. First the Hogwarts train, then Hogwarts, the classes, being sorted into Gryffindor, letters to mother, fall ball, Christmas here, and I guess now. Here next to the freezing lake, well I guess this is going to be fun if you don't think of my first instance of magic.. Anyway, I guess the students are almost done writing. she looked at her swim suit, a black swim suit with some teal details. Her hair? In a high ponytail, now you could see very clearly the strap of white hair on the back of her hair.

Okay, now it was time, time to run into the freezing lake. This was a bad idea. she kept telling herself, but now, now it was time to let go, simply let go.

The girl started running, for a few seconds, but it seemed like an hour. Suddenly she could feel the water, first in her feet then a bit deeper, then her legs, her torso, and finally her hair was wet. The parchment had disintegrated, her mind was clear, she felt good. Then she felt the cold water ”Merlin’s beard that’s not cold! ITS FREEZING!!!”

Way to start a new year. she smiled, but then, the cold, it started to spread. She needed to get out of the water, it was cold too cold she swam back to the shore with a clear mindset and now, as soon as she got out of the water, she felt better way better.

If Clair had been in the right mind jumping into cold water would not have sounded fun. But Clair being Clair had jumped on the idea as soon as she had saw the posters advertising of the errand. She had somehow managed to find a bathing suit in her trunk and much to her surprise, it still fit her perfectly.

The Ravenclaw carried with her a plain white towel and had decided that she would leave everything else behind because she did not want to get her stuff wet, plus she had no want or need to carry around unneeded things. She gathered around with all the other students and listened to the caretaker talk about what was going to happen and what the students should do.

The mere fact that they were jumping into freezing water was super exciting to the young Eagle, who had admittedly, never jumped into a freezing cold body of water before. Clair placed her towel out of the way and took a piece of parchment, she thought about it for a few seconds before she wrote down what she wanted to write, it went something like this:
This year I would like to spend more time with friends and Family (Cause we all know that they won't be around forever) I would also like to try to train Kiwi to do some tricks and become a better -and tamer- cat! I would also like to become a better person to those who I don't get along with, and I would also like to help those who think muggle borns are less then equal to see that we are just as equal. and lastly I would like for everyone to be happy and healthy and may their lives be prosperous in this new year!
Clair took her parchment and waited for her turn to dip into the lake.
'I wonder if the squid will try to eat anyone?' Clair wondered as she stood there, as soon as it was her turn Clair got ready to jump into the water.

She was going to first touch her toe to the water, but then decided it would be smarter to just jump in.
Clair took in a deep breath and got ready to be blasted by the cold water.
She jumped, landing in the ice cold water. "BLAH, COLD COLD COLD" The Ravenclaw said, maybe a bit startled by the extreme cold of the water, yet, as she stayed in the water she realized that the water was in fact, much less cold once you got used to it.
Clair stayed in the water for maybe 30 seconds and then she climbed out.
There was only one downside to getting out. The air was just as cold! The Ravenclaw shivered.
"Geesh, I think I might curl up in some blankets in the common room with Kiwi for the rest of the day!" Clair said to no one other than herself.
She quickly got her towel and coat from the professor and then rushed back inside to her common room to warm up.

If she was ever given the chance to do it all over again, Clair was sure she would!

Liam Bennet, first year Gryffindor and all around enthusiastic guy stood amongst many others on the shores of the great lake. He could feel the subtle bite of the chilly winter’s air on his exposed skin - it had been slightly uncomfortable when he first left the warmth of the castle but by now he had become accustomed to it. Besides, he was always pretty warm anyway so a pinch of cold would do him good for once. His wide smile beamed out to those gathered ready to take the plunge, it wasn’t very often that students could swim in the lake and not face drastic punishments or worse. As Liam looked out at the vast, shimmering, and expansive beauty set before him, he couldn’t help but to feel excitement overtake the natural nerves of his body when faced with the prospect of an uncomfortable encounter that was soon to come.

A subtle yet almost bone chilling breeze lifted the ends of Liam’s hair, stinging the tips of his exposed ears in the process. Anticipation riddled the young student’s mind as he continued to watch his peers ready themselves for the plunge. He had taken off his shoes a little bit earlier and allowed his toes to sink into the moist mixture of dirty sand and pebbles at the lake’s edge. He had taken one of the pieces of parchment earlier, it currently sat firmly within his grip and bore the short message that he had decided would carry meaning into the new year.
The first year at Hogwarts is full of first impressions. As this next term begins it is time to take a step forward and establish myself - this year I want to prove that I have what it takes to help bring the house cup home. It’s also time that I make some good friends that’ll last for my entire time here and then some.

My quidditch skills need work and my strength needs to improve if I want to have a chance of competing at a higher level. I’ll prove to be a useful addition to the team. I’ll also write home more, I’ve missed my sister and brother more than I let anyone else know and if I want to help myself to feel better then I’ll need to work on how often I write letters. I just hope they have a good year too, especially while I’m not there with them.
Liam continued to stand and watch, he had already changed into his swimming shorts before heading out. Thankfully he had also remembered to grab a towel which he held under his left arm - soon enough though he would need to get ready and run in. Adrenaline had been growing for the last few minutes as the time to go grew closer and closer, nevertheless Liam did not cease his smile. His thoughts dwelled on how much fun this experience was going to be, he was still surprised that such an event was allowed to take place, there was no way he would pass up a chance to jump into the lake this soon into his time at the school.

The countdown began sooner than Liam anticipated and in those fleeting seconds he rushed to remove his robe. His right leg moved forward taking the weight of Liam’s anticipation. The instruction to go couldn’t come soon enough.

Liam bolted forwards, passing a few of his fellow students maybe a little bit too early. His feet reached the edge of the once gently lapping water which was now asunder with the chaos of many pairs of feet piercing its mirror like surface. The blonde boy didn’t feel the cold at first before he dove forwards to immediately kick out into a front crawl as soon as the depth allowed. The icy water seeped into his skin, his muscles contracting and tensing at the sudden change in temperature. Liam’s head broke through the surface and he gasped for air, taking a few seconds to regain his bearings before striking out again with determined strokes. He was a reasonably strong swimmer and wanted to make it to the edge of the designated area as quickly as possible.

As he swam, Liam couldn’t help but feel a wave of exhilaration and freedom wash over him. The cold water was invigorating, and the sense of accomplishment at conquering it was like a burst of energy that gave him the strength to push on. He was a little bit ahead of some of the others but definitely not the front of the pack - there were many stronger and more athletic students ahead of him. He focused on his strokes, pulling himself through the water while powerful kicks aided his advance. He could feel the paper dissolve in his hands, casting his wishes into the icy deep. Liam let out a shout of delight as his head surfaced once again - but now the cold was getting to him.

Liam’s now drenched hair parted to allow him to see as he turned to walk up from the lake His numb feet were trudging through the sand and pebbles that sat just under the surface of the water. His body was red and cold to the touch, shivers overtook him but they did not dampen the fire in his eyes and hearty smile. He was thankful for the warm embrace of the coat that soon greeted him - maybe this was something he could do every year, with or without supervision…

They warn against jumping into lakes, but has anyone ever done so into an icy lake?
Ashley was overjoyed to be among the students that opted to go on this daring adventure by diving into the frigid lake known as "The Great Lake." The coldness is what delighted him the most. Everything that had to do with coldness was his favorite since it mirrored his nature. It will appear as though he is in harmony with nature as he takes on this task.

During his time at Hogwarts, Ashley experienced a great deal of solitude; perhaps he can now declare with pride that he has linked. However, the youngster is unflappable and is undoubtedly surviving a variety of distinct personalities. The pupils that were present with him all appeared to be afraid of the water's temperature and condition, but Ashley appeared to be the most enthusiastic. I mean, how horrible could it possibly be?
He pondered as he observed everyone. Furthermore, safety precautions were taken, so it was not necessary for anyone to be petrified.

Ashley's outfit screamed boldness. Some would say he was crazy and that he had no idea what he was getting himself into, but he was fully aware that he could handle everything this chilly lake could throw at him, even if it was below freezing. What might possibly fail?. He only had his towel, which was covered in blue and white patterns and featured a Ravenclaw insignia in the center, when he arrived at the lake. He had no shirt on and was only wearing a short blue and white shorts. He was clearly a Ravenclaw young man based on the color scheme of his attire.

The caretaker who should be protecting these children gave each student instructions and a piece of parchment to write on. Ashley had everything planned out and was extremely clear about his ambitions for himself as a Wizard. Although they would appear to be motivated by avarice, he was aware that their actions will ultimately benefit everyone. His fingers curled a grip around a feather and he began to scribble down what was on his mind.
Lol, Everyone has objectives they want to achieve, but if I were to list mine, I would have to kill anybody who happened to come across this parchment. Just kidding. My life has not been perfect during the last few years because there have been numerous personal events. At a young age, I had a lot of internal strife, yet I'm still alive now.
I make a commitment to excel in both this year and the upcoming years of my life at Hogwarts. I promise to soar with my wings spread and my head held high. The Sorting Hat correctly placed me in the house of eagles. I'll use my capabilities in whichever way I can to accomplish the task at hand. I pledge to keep working toward the undefeated streak along with my house. To work diligently at school and triumph well in all my studies. I wish I would relate to and comprehend the emotions of others. I must remember to be at peace with myself and accept the passing of my parents. I might join the dueling club, something draws me in and gradually my interest is growing.
I vow to honor the relations I create here at Hogwarts, gain more motivation to put in a thousand percent of my effort. Make my years here at Hogwarts fruitful. Also strive for more knowledge because success lies within smart work.
Ashley had finished writing what he needed to write on his parchment. It was now his turn to experience the comfort of chilly water after witnessing other students tremble from the chill of the lake for a little while. After exhaling deeply and keeping his written parchment tightly in his hands while keeping an eye on the road ahead, he started moving slowly in the direction of the lake.
He pushed his body forward after leaping into the air, creating a little gap between himself and the ground. In the span of a single blink, he had leaped into the chilly water.
He didn't realize how chilly the water was, but he still relished how it sawed through his layers of skin.

He took a big breath and swam his way out of the water after thirty seconds.
Although he was shivering, he relished the sensation. He laughed to himself before approaching the caretaker holding his towel. While drying off and observing others go into the Great Lake's extremely chilly water, he wrapped his towel over himself.

xxxTaking the plunge in the freezing Great Lake wasn't exactly on Maggie's bucket list, but she wasn't one to shy away from a challenge. Plus, she was aware that to maintain dyed hair you had to wash with cold water. Maybe this was a blessing in disguise.

Really, she just liked the caretaker a lot. Finley Greer was awfully nice and incredibly cool, one of those really chill teachers that you couldn't help but like. So Maggie decided to do her New Years polar plunge in the name of self-betterment. She stood at the banks of the lake, clothed in her swimsuit and wrapped up in a fluffy towel, shivering and chattering like a hairless cat left out in the snow. Brrr, indeed. These sort of ice bucket-like challenges were pretty popular, if she could recall correctly; meant to rejuvenate your mind and skin and spirit and make you ready for new discovery. Sure were freezing, though.

"Wish it were summer," she mumbled, shifting side to side. She wore flip-flops, easy to take off and put on, and she was sure she would look quite foolish to any passerby. Of course, Hogwarts did not boast random muggle onlookers. Sometimes Maggie was grateful for it, and sometimes she wished that there were more people to talk the crazies out of doing weird stuff like jumping in the freezing cold Great Lake. "Miss Greer, sometimes the water is cold in summer, too!" She called, just for good measure.

When handed the slip of paper, she shifted slightly where she stood, moving to write down her 2023 goals and aspirations.

What did Maggie Hawkins want to do in the new year? What did she hope to accomplish?
In 2023, I will do better in class be nicer this is stupid. In 2023 I'll finally be good enough.
She wadded the paper up in her palm and stepped forward to the water's edge, dropping her towel to the ground and slowly, carefully, wading into the freezing water. Immediately, the hairs on her arms and legs began to stand up, and gooseflesh overtook her entire body. Freezing cold. Stupid cold. Like, Maggie would be surprised if she wasn't a Hawkins flavored popsicle by the end of this cold. "Holyyyy shit."

Around her, other students were dipping their toes into the frigid water. It wasn't really conducive to getting in there, getting over the initial chill of the lake. Maggie backpedaled, walking back out of the water and shifting to a different spot. Okay. There it was. It would be easier to get acclimated if she jumped in. So Maggie reared up, taking a running start, and leapt into the water.

Immediately, icy cold water washed over her head, dripping down her hair and onto her skin. Maggie wrapped her arms around her shoulders, squeezing her eyes shut and kicking her feet against the floor of the lake. Weren't there grindylows down there? And merpeople who were excited to grab the ankles of unsuspecting students and tug them down into the freezing depths of the Great Lake? Right now, though, merpeople and grindylows were the least of Maggie's worries. Her flip-flops were gone. And she'd forgotten to take them off before her polar plunge.

With a groan and five minutes almost up, Maggie Hawkins turned back around and began the slow walk back to the shore. Body freezing cold, she grabbed her towel and wrapped it tight around her body. Looked like she needed a hot shower.

And a new pair of flip-flops.

Clark mumbled to himself. He wasn't feeling his best today, and knew he needed to learn how to swim one way or another. He took it upon himself to head down to the lake- so he could practice his nonexistent swimming skills that never surfaced on that sad November day. A guilty tone of remorse struck his forehead and he fell into a state of regret and humiliation.

He watched people as they watched Clark flail his arms and struggle to resurface in the water. Thank god someone helped him out. But this would not deter him. He would wear the same exact outfit he wore on that november day, swim briefs and a pirate towel. What else would he have wore?

The boy frowned, walking out of the common room in just that. "I'm going to learn how to swim, I don't care. I will not be a laughingstock ever again. Bubba will rue the day he failed to save me the moment he saw me."

He muttered in complete anger- instead of worrying about the kid in the lake, the two prefects worried about the awful books that no one wanted to read, and truth be told- if anyone read those books- Clark would call them such a nerd.

But it was no time to think about such a humiliating and stupid thought. It was time to get a move on, to teach himself the art of the swimming kid.

Once he made it down to the great lake, he began to notice people. What the hell? PEOPLE? TODAY? How miserable was that?

He so desperately wanted to learn how to swim and succeed. But people? At this rate he might as well just take his turn into the water, screaming with every vocal tone he could possibly demonstrate. Before doing what he was about to do, he inscribed onto the parchment he was provided- to attempt to swim in the water with. Once the writing was completed, he returned to what he was doing.

Ugh. He needed to do this. Show he could do it. He took a deep breath, and dove into the water, the freezing cold water that felt like he was moving through jello- his muscles struggled through the frozen water. Every second he held his breath underwater- even if it was shallow- was like an hour was taken away from him- the immense pressure he felt on his chest. The ice cold water was exhilarating and felt like it was aging him.

Like he was going to explode- and any efforts on exhaling would be shaky, because of both the pressure the cold had on him and because of the fact that he was in the cold water.

He felt like he was shrinking to the point where he would become like a Part Goblin bomb that would rid of the frigid waters once he finally gets around to breathing like normal. But to no prevail.

He would stand up, wearily and breathing heavily. His energy lacked due to how cold it was.

Several minutes would pass, and Clark would slowly turn from the spot, to face the professor in the eye. His face was bright red, his eyes pink from the frigid waters

"Don't bother about the fudging paper- it's gone" He said, tremor in his voice- as humiliation dawned on him once again. He took off, running towards the castle- fear and embarrassment looming over him.
