The brute of a Durmstrang champion didn’t bother to avoid the thrown cup. That was the first sign that something was about to go amiss. The smile that covered the Russian’s face was predatory, that of a wolf staring down his next meal. Raul had seen it many times before, the all-too familiar signal of the righteous, those who saw him as an easy target, with a bark far worse than his bite. Instinct tugged at the scion of the most noble houses of Correa and Mirales, and he found himself pivoting to the balls of his feet before he could rationalise the reasons as to why. The shout of immobulus triggered his flight response. He thrust his body sideways, avoiding the inaccurate casting of the second of the wolves to descend upon him. There was no time to relish in his victory nor to think over his successful means of escape, for the alpha of their mongrel pack rushed forward. Raul cast jumped to the side, barely avoiding the crushing tackle of the champion. The jackal had avoided its bite.
Arrogance flickered across Raul’s face, twisting his features into a grin of equal parts mockery and indignation.
“Relying on your lackeys to attack me from behind? For shame, good sir, for shame, here I thought you at least had enough pride to back yourself,” Raul beamed, “Although you may want to see to getting this one replaced. Afraid you may have gotten a faulty model.”
With false realisation, Raul brushed a stray lock of hair out of his eye, “Although I suppose given who his captain is, it stands to reason he’d be piss-poor at scoring a hit, no?”
Was the tackle too close for comfort? Perhaps. But Raul was neither intelligent nor self-aware enough to realise it, no, as far as he was concerned the two Durmstrang boys would merely be the latest in a long line of thuggish fools who’d underestimated the slippery shit-talker.
“Glad that we didn’t send a champion if this is the best the Europeans have to offer really… The colour does look good on you though.”

This school was more closely akin to a child's soiled diaper than a teaching establishment in Boe's mind. There wasn't much that Boe cared about, but being at Hogwarts just rubbed him the wrong way. Pulling off from his brother and entourage of classmates, the boy had wandered for a while before realizing that the rumbling he felt was not the earth but rather his stomach. Apparently, a trip across the world had made the boy hungry, and it was to the point that Boe would suffer through the horror that was what the brits called food.
Strutting into the great large hall only took the Elder Correa-Morales brother seconds to find Raul. The younger brother of Boe had always found that his brother never cared to learn the art of subtlety, which wasn't entirely surprising to anybody who knew him. Raul always tended to speak before thinking, but luckily Boe had made it one of his tenets to protect Raul against those who would come seeking retribution for the words his brother failed to think through.
Letting his fingers snake around his wand, Gregorio hastened his step towards the small group that his brother seemed to be the epicenter of. Even with his quick walking, the boy was aware of his appearance. The swagger in his step never once faltered. Yet when the juice was tossed, and wands were drawn, Boe was ready to prove why nobody messed with Bruxo or his family.
A look of pure rage flashed across Boe's face at the fact that the light-haired foreigner had the gall to attack his brother. His only mission Boe had was to destroy the boy's pretty face, and with a snarl, he whipped his wand in Felix's direction, "Petrificus Totalus!"

A soft flash of light burst from the tip of his wand as the boy spoke the incantation. But, of course, Boe knew he would cast the spell without fail. He did consider himself the most brilliant student at Castelobruxo, and there was little doubt he would fail at the task he had set for himself.

The serenity in Ginyami’s smile brought Valentin pause, luring him into examining the mink-brown irises that rimmed the event horizons of his pupils. Silver darkness? Silver darkness… Hm... Clearly, the other boy was not only perceptive and considerate, but he spoke with the kind of subtlety that only blossoms at the edge of great depth. The longer Valentin stared back, the stronger he felt pulled in. Sitting back in his chair with a heavy sigh, Valentin’s palm ran across his forehead before diving deep into his pale hair.
"Is something the matter, Schnell-san?" asked Ginyami curiously. Val’s gaze shot back up to observe the boy’s face, his lips parting slightly. It was the second time the boy had asked, and they both knew it. This time around, the words could have been no mere formality– Ginyami wanted a real answer. Valya's face presented the vanguard of his response: his intense gaze softened with the warmth that would usually precede a smile.
“Just ‘Valentin’ is fine, please. No need to stay formal with me.” The captain’s surname was usually pleasant to his ear, as he usually heard it from referees, quidditch analysts, and newspapers. After all, all things quidditch tended to bring him cheer. Yet, spoken here, its distant tone only deepened the ache in his chest. Eyes half closing, Valentin took in a deep breath and paused for a moment to search himself for the answer. “Have you ever felt as if…” Pausing, the seeker’s face cleared of all expression as his white eyelashes completed their fall with a sigh. His long, thin fingers extracted a wand and gave it a delicate wave towards the ceiling, murmuring a ‘Nix Facitur’ under his breath. [4+15=19] As a small whirl of snowflakes began wafting down, Valentin opened his eyes again to lock again onto Ginyami’s. “As if you were perpetually falling, and yet you could not call it flying? Never striking bottom, yet never able to pull away, just… isn’t it also like cotton being spun into a long thread, pulled and pulled around and around until you think that surely somewhere you will tear? The melody you write that cannot find its way home. The frost that settles into the fingers and toes so quietly that, despite the beauty of the snow falling all around, a chill still creeps into the heart? Voices all around calling your name, but not your true name, and not asking of you what you so yearn to give… in a word, longing. That is what is eating away at me.”
Solemn eyes smiling at the other boy, Valentin then brought quidditch back up as a topic with the hope of returning warmth to the conversation's mood. He quite enjoyed Ginyami’s answers to his questions, and he listened quietly with one hand holding the side of his own alabaster face. The underlying optimism and courage to see possibility in seemingly hopeless situations, and the way he cherished his place of nurturing– the details added an invisible glow to Ginyami's presence. It was rather beautiful.
“As for quidditch,” continued the frost captain, “it is quidditch that breaks apart my self-imposed limits, strikes me down in moments of arrogance and builds me back up stronger with its seductive encouragement. It can shatter me completely in a moment, and it can raise me into heaven itself. Quidditch pulls people towards me, and it channels my energy and strength and love back at them. Sometimes, it grants me the most sublime unity I have ever known. At other times, it inflicts such great pain on me that I am transformed into another creature entirely, one capable of more than I could have ever imagined. Always, though… always it is a symphony I feel throughout my entire body, and the bodies of the players, and the sway of the crowd… the dance of the winds and the caprices of the light falling across the world…”
With a flutter of his eyelashes, Valentin pulled himself out of his reverie and settled his eyes once more on the contours of Ginyami’s hands. “As for Durmstrang… it is all these things, but on a grander scale.” Valentin’s amethyst eyes glinted with a bright rhodium sheen as he realized that the rich color of the others' uniforms indicated some form of academic status. Then, with a nod towards Tone, Valentin’s lips curled into an impish grin. “How did he and I meet? He hit my helpless friend in the head with a boomerang.” Within two blinks of the seeker's eyes, his mind was already flitting onto the next topic of interest. Nearby, a scuffle was emerging; apparently someone had thrown a drink on Yefim, but it seemed that Felix was rising to the champion’s defense. Valentin draped one long arm horizontally over his half of the table and drummed his fingers once. If Yefim needed him, he would call. For now, it seemed, Valentin could continue exploring the finer points of what kind of creature the black-haired boy really was.
“Why don't we play quidditch sometime? An informal scrimmage." Valya's Tatar eyes rose back up to scan Ginyami's features as he pondered which role would best suit him.

────────────────────────────────────────────────────Noting Yasha's attention and wave directed across the hall, Kolya shifts to look in the direction. It takes a moment of peering at the gathered students, but he eventually catches sight of who he assumes to be the intended recipient of the wave. Though he'd not had the chance to meet her yet, he could recall seeing her on occasion back on the island between lessons. All he really knew was that she was to be on their tournament team. Realizing she was preoccupied with some other students and had likely missed Yasha's wave, the first year looks back to the taller boy as he takes a seat.
Kolya snickers quietly at the comment. "I fear that may have required too much forethought," he retorts, glancing up at the entryway as if waiting for another display of fireworks to be set off. Movement and shouting across the hall almost immediately draws his attention back towards the group he'd spotted earlier. A couple of the shouts sounded suspiciously like spells. Though it's hard to make out exactly what might be happening, he can at least surmise that some sort of scuffle was underway. Well, that didn't take long at all.
He shakes his head a little, idly watching the commotion across the way. "Seems like the peace lasted an even shorter time than I'd expected. Wow." Kolya glances back to Yasha with a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "Sounds like a solid plan to me. At least they've made it easy so far." Ignoring yet another burst of fireworks, the young Russian offers a brief shrug. "On the bright side, at least we only have to stay here for a few weeks at a time. The cabins are...okay at best. But I'll feel far more comfortable once we're back on the island."────────────────────────────────

It was just his luck that the weasel would manage to wiggle out of the way before his spell could hit. It was an impressive dodge, really. Felix would have complimented the foreigner on it, if not for the fact that he was being a pain in the ass.
He was saying something else to Yefim. The language barrier was starting to get on his nerves. "You've come all the way here and you didn't bother to learn fucking English?" He was aware that his was not perfect, but at least he could carry a damn conversation. Did everyone forget that books existed? "You understand what shoe-face is saying, Yef?" He wasn't going for another attack at least, so Felix would keep his wand on guard for now instead of casting again--
Until a spell was shot his way. It was a great show of wandmanship, but Felix wasn't dazed enough to not dodge, especially since adrenaline was already pumping through his veins. A few students had moved out of the boys way at this point, so Felix was able to duck and roll. He resurfaced soon afterwards, sliding a hand through his hair to fix the ruffled tresses.Felix evasion roll: 17+8=25
Being the mischief seeker he was, a death glare was something Felix had grown used to over time. A thin smirk pulled at his lips as he aimed his wand towards the newcomer. He was another pretty boy, but he definitely looked like more of a threat. That near-perfect spell was enough to quicken his heart rate too. "A friend of yours?" He asked, gesturing towards the first brat. "Forget him; you and I are playing together now. Flipendo!"

Stephen laughed, not at Jamie, but at the things that sometimes came out of his mouth. “Jamie, dude. It’s not "apart-arating", it is called apparating. Instead of having to go through the stomach turning business of using a portkey, one can simply focus their concentration on a place, visualize it clearly, and take themselves there. It is just as fast as a portkey, maybe even faster with practice, and causes no nausea. I think it would be so cool. Our Transfiguration professor and I talk about it often. Where I want it to take me he says I could never go, but we’ll see. There would be no progress in anything if everyone accepted a “No” as a final answer."
Stephen’s ears twitched when Jamie called him, “Steef”. He hated any nickname anyone had ever come up with for his name. It was not that he disliked nicknames, he just did not like those associated with Stephen. He good-naturedly leaned back and reached behind EmmaLee to punch Jamie in the shoulder. “Call me ‘Steef’ just one more time, Ziegler and I swear I will dog you all day long some Saturday singing, ’I’m Henry the VIII’, and if you aren’t familiar with the song, you will be, and then you will sorely wish you never had uttered such a bastardization of my name,” and he laughed.
Then turning his attention back to EmmaLee, he told her that her dress sounded lovely, and it did, but what really caught his attention was her mention of living in New York. “No kidding? You lived in America? For how long? When did you move? To think we could have gone to the same school. That would have been cool,” and he smiled widely at her.
After agreeing to meet up with the single pringles since he had been “ghosted’ as Jamie had put it, Stephen was just about to make himself scarce and head back to the cabin when a package was delivered to Jamie by a young girl who turned out to be his sister. If anyone was in any doubt of shared DNA, the Flamin’ Cheetos, reddish-orange hair gave it away immediately. Stephen loved the color actually. It was entirely unlike anyone else in their school and made his friend just that much more unique. Looking around the Great Hall here at Hogwarts, however, he reckoned you couldn’t toss a cat without hitting a redhead, but nothing compared to Jamie’s vibrancy. Stephen reached out his hand to the girl. “Hello, Melissa. I’m Stephen and this is EmmaLee. It is very nice to meet you.”
When Jamie pulled out the green tights, Stephen quickly did an inverse pucker of his lips and tried hard to suppress a snort, made even harder when Melissa announced that he was going to look stupid. Jamie look horrified. Then he dumped the contents onto the floor and it became clear to Stephen immediately. “I think you are supposed to be Robin Hood, Master Ziegler, though if you replace the quiver of arrows with wings, you could also go as Tinkerbell,” and Stephen could not suppress his laughter any longer.

It seemed the Durmstrang boy to peverse delight in the Castelo students showing their teeth. Well, most of them anyway. Sherlock seemed quite content to let them think them fools. Agata rolled her eyes. Leaning in close to the boy, she whispered, "They think we're idiots. Especially since we don't have a champion." The sarcastic tone champion rung out, her eyes fixed upon the Rual and the Durmstang boy. No matter if the boy didn't understand. she knew he would understand her dislike. Upon looking at the exchange, this was quite tame. Words were nothing to whispered spells and potions knocked about. A drink was something, but Yefim dodged at the last second. Seriously, was nothing to hit this boy!? In a matter of seconds really, the antagonistic conversation had strayed and wands let loose. The Durmstrangs really were out for blood. Another joined the bully, his compadre friend, out for just as much blood, even more so, than the one in front of them. Agata grinned. Maybe they hadn't left the jungle after all? Agata watched as spell after spell flew across the room, the young girl waiting for a chance to add her own. Just because she didn't start the spell slinging, didn't mean she could finish it.
Her grin widened as she heard Boe Correa fire a spell at the new Durmstrang. Both Correa's in the room. Agata snorted. This should be fun! She watched as the near perfect spell somehow was dodged and a flipendo fired Boe's way. Firing her own spell, Agata saw this as a perfect opportunity to reply. It was manners after all. "Flipendo!" Unfortunately, the excitement of the duel overpowered her concentration, leading Agata's wand to backfire upon her. Instead of the Durmstrang snake flying backwards, she did. Thankfully she was in the aisle by this time, and with so many people didn't go far, only sliding really down past the group a bit.

interacting with @felix kolbeck, @yefim rumyantsev, @raul correa, @agata matos, and @gregorio correaCielle had been in Scotland for only a few hours and she was already bored. It was her first time to Hogwarts, and she had to admit that that castle was really, really impressive, but there had been, like, literally nothing to do in the hours leading up to dinner other than unpack and chat with the other students. She liked talking, but there was only so many topics you could bounce back and forth between before you got bored of the sound of your own voice. By dinnertime, the young Norwegian girl was pretty excited to finally be going somewhere fun.
As the school champions from the different schools were announced again, Cielle clapped politely for each of them, but cheered especially loudly when Yefim's name was called. Being on his Hex team had made her feel like a part of a group again for the first time in years. She'd had a friend group back at home, the Crazy Eights, but being away at Durmstrang for majority of the year had caused a subtle disconnect between her and the Eights over the years. She was glad to have a group of people to count on again - something about being part of a pack made her feel secure, and she hadn't really realised how much she'd missed it until this.
When the announcements were over, Cielle stood up and excused herself to go to the bathroom. She got lost once or twice, even after asking directions from a wandering Hogwarts student in the hallways, but to her relief and disappointment, she returned to the Great Hall without accidentally stumbling into a secret passage or something like that. She scanned the room for her friends and instantly noticed some random kid from another school (Boe) pointing his wand at Felix. What the---?
It had been like two seconds since they'd arrived at this school and already her friends had made enemies??? Well, upon further reflection, maybe she shouldn't be so surprised. Her first impression of a few members of the team had been made during a fight that broke out in the hallways at Durmstrang last year.
For a second she stood in the doorway, jaw dropping open as she watched Felix shoot a spell back and yet another irrelevant (Agata) attempt to fire one as well. Cielle's brown eyes went to Yefim, whose shirt had certainly not had that purple-y stain when she'd left for the bathroom a few minutes ago. Oh, fuck's sake. She left for, like, five minutes, and somehow something had broken out in that time. Why did she always miss the exciting bits?
Cielle kicked herself out of her frozen state and hurried over to the group, pushing past people in her way roughly. No one messed with her friends and got away with it. She wouldn't even stop to ask what was going on - she was sure that her friends were fighting them for a good reason. Cielle picked up a plate from a nearby table and hurled it at the girl (Agata) who had tried to fire the spell earlier. She was aiming for the face, but she wasn't really picky about where it hit as long as it made contact with the girl. Did she feel a little bit guilty for throwing a plate at someone who looked years younger than her? A bit. But not that much.Aaaaand it missed. Flew right past the girl and ended up shattering on the floor behind them without harming anyone. Cielle audibly sighed, irritated at herself. "Seriously?" she muttered under her breath in Norwegian. She switched over to Russian to ask, "Why are we fighting anyway?" It was probably a good time to ask before she started throwing more plates, this time hopefully with more success.Cielle throws a plate at Agata's face.

With Felya's spell missing and Yefim unable to grab even a corner of fabric off the guy, he would be left to barrel into the table behind him, jostling around the plates and knocking over a goblet or two. Yefim's muscles were being wasted on pumpkin pastries crushed under palm, when it should have been giving this buzzing bug a purple bath. What was more irritating was that he had no clue what the guy was saying. At least Yef had the decency to let his victims know why they were being attacked... though when he thought about it, he wasn't exactly sure why he had wanted to learn English. To communicate, to be understood... yes, he wanted that, even from the people he viewed as inferior. Perhaps it was a small hint at the truer nature underneath the defensive and rough exterior.
Yefim fully intended to keep attacking, but in the midst of the confusion, he would also address the teddy bear boy. ”Anjinho1, do you know what he's saying?" He did not learn any Portugese from his grandmother in the short amount of time he spent with her, but he remembered the little name she used to call him. He was pretty sure it meant good little boy, so it fit.
Meanwhile, others would join them. One of them was a boy much the same age and complexion as the fish they were wrestling with, and the monkey girl was trying to attack as well. While spells flew around, hitting absolutely no one, Cici2 appeared as though returning from outside, grabbing up a plate and flinging it into the crowd to defend Felya2. It would also crash without landing on a target. How strange. Getting right back to it, Yefim would simply try to grab at the boy again. Missed. Okay. He knew what to do with these slippery types, which was give them something to slip on. Finally pulling out his wand and pointing it at the ground, Yefim would incant, ”Lubricus."
As Yefim stood their quietly, waiting for the wand to do something, nothing happened. That was it. There was no way it was his destiny to bully these people, clearly chaos was telling him that they should not continue. Perhaps it was because there were so many headmasters nearby, and he could be wrongly disqualified, or because Bruxo's defeat here would lead to a defeat for Yefim later? He did not question why fate was as it was, he simply followed the path wherever it led. That said, he had overstayed his welcome anyway. Back at the cabins they could find something more fun to do.
[”Come on, there's more fun elsewhere."] Yefim would not make excuses, he would shrug. He'd call off his attack dogs, though the honest truth was that they rarely listened to him. He would not make them do anything they didn't want to. Instead, he'd turn and leave.

Because? Of course they did.
Even as I opened my mouth to try and prevent Yefim... Felix... God bless it.
Of course they went and went all out.
With a sigh, I put my head in my hands over my gnocchi and silently requested that God reveal to me why young adults acted the way that they did without forethought or planning? If they were going to start a fight, why didn't they at least attempt to do it tactfully? Russian and foreign languages zinged back and forth a few feet away from me, and then of course Bleach Job Felix fired off a spell in an attempt to petrify one of the foreign students. I only stared down at the sad dumplings in my soup, shaking my head in silence as a terribly familiar high pitched ringing began to lightly buzz in both of my ears. 'Whywhywhywhy...?'
Sai perche'. You know why.' I reminded myself subconsciously, almost unamused. 'E ' solo il modo in cui agiscono. It's just the way they act.' A hum of acceptance. 'Abbastanza divertente, è per questo che ti piacciono così tanto, non è vero? Funny enough, that's the reason you like them so much, isn't it?'
Well, I couldn't argue with that, but that didn't prevent the immediate scuffle right next to me from triggering a particularly nasty headache in combination with the mental buzzing. Rubbing my eyes with my knuckles, I then move on to rubbing my temples with the tips of my fingers, staring down at my soup dejectedly as I continued to listen to the back and forth. I didn't have the will to deal with this today. I just wanted to be able to nurse my headache and have as little friction as possible. Yes, I was affiliated with them, but just because they were dear friends did not mean that I always agreed with their... methods. It certainly didn't help that I noticed recently that I was starting to grow... again.
Through the shouting and the casting of spells, I would not be able to handle the noise anymore, and my right fist would finally strike the table at an open spot, causing goblets to shake and plates to rattle slightly with the force of the blow. After calling attention to myself in this way, I continued to massage my temples, squeezing my eyes shut. In a low, voice only lightly tinged with aggravation I attempted to make myself sound civil in English. "STOP it! All of you!" I said sternly, rubbing my eyes with a hand again to alleviate a sparse amount of pressure there. "Cristo Santo Jesus Christ..." A legitimate prayer. "I have a splitting headache and I can't deal with this today. I don't care who started it. I'm just..." A sigh. I can't find a way to say this without sounding either pathetically desperate or immensely threatening. "Act like adults, not like children." I growl as a pressure throbbed in the form of what I had to assume was either a hypertension headache or an ice pick episode. I tried to focus on the gnocchi again. Maybe I could distract myself or perhaps I would feel better if I ate something.
