Aryaan cursed under his breath as he completed the second round too late.

Of course he knew that he wouldn’t be able to keep up with the other champions. They were older, more experienced. But a part of him had always thought that he could keep up. He was, after all, the Aryaan Shamsi, thrill seeker and adventurer extraordinaire.

He would not give up, so easily. If for nothing else, than for his pride. It would not do one little bit to lose to the likes of Akira, after all.

A moment to catch his breath and gather himself. Was he in dead last? No, no he wasn’t. That was good, he just had to keep trying, then. It would all work out if he just went at it a little harder.

Akira made some comment about how this wasn’t fun, and Aryaan could only just shrug his shoulders in response. “Dead last, maybe. But not for long!” It was a short, blunt reply. But one that was meant to psyche himself up as much as his rival friend.

“Come on, now. Are you up for another round, or you calling it quits already?” The words were half-encouragement, half-taunt. "Come on, Chiaki-san is head of us. It wouldn't do to lose to HER as well, would it?"

Louca took a big breath and dunked his head, shaking it when he popped out of the water like a cork after finishing the second lap. He was starting to struggle, and he was amazed at how much swimming was taking out of him. hopefully he got his second wind in the third lap or maybe the next thing in the triathlon.

He hadn't been able to maintain a higher position, he was disappointed but that made him all the more determined to make up for the lag. As long as he didn't fall to the back of the pack, he could easily make up for it later. Louca stopped his musings to listen to Kim give instructions for the next round.

His eyes widened at the mention of obstacles, but then a grin broke out. It would kind of add an element of action that Louca always appreciated. While his limbs were starting to tire, he was feeling excited for this next round and so as soon as he possibly could, he aimed himself in the proper direction and when able to, took off with renewed vigor determined to do whatever it took to dodge things, even if he needed to sacrifice someone else to do so.

Although Lysander was unaware from his current position in the water, he was right on Howard's tail, the same Hogwarts Champion that Aurelia had essentially told him to leave be. An elegant freestyle stroke fueled him forward, arms alternating overheard as he effortlessly cut through the water's surface. Now that he was in a good rhythm, he prioritised maintaining that energy for the final lap rather than overtaking any one individual. Had he noticed Hadrian in front, however, he would not have been ashamed to admit that as his number one ambition. Scoundrels like him deserved no recognition.

Pulling into his final lap, Lysander took a deep breath and plunged beneath the water. The event became more difficult with time, if not from the burn of overworked muscle then certainly from the introduction of floating obstacles. Innocent as they looked, they were not to be collided with, but the other contestants crowded into his immediate space with stray limbs and kicks. As expected, it made the endeavor even riskier. Sato’s jumbled voice gave encouragement from up above, a distraction that Lysander had to push out of mind if he wanted to snatch first place for himself. No big deal; he’d swam these distances before. Just a little more.

ACTIONS: Third lap

Elena Jangleton had come to the conclusion that her intial assessment of this task had been a severely wrong one. The first lap around had been nothing more than a lie, a ruse to get them to relax because as she struggled to get this over with, she was finding that cutting through the waves and the water was getting more physically exhausting and it was slowly starting to catch up with her gritting her teeth as the water splashed against her. She knew that the time for Level 2 had already dwindled down but there was still a chance to make up lost distance as another swimmer powered by her and the Gryffindor was seized by an impulsive urge to grab onto one of the anothers and hitch a ride, it was an amusing thought rather than getting assualted from all directions by waves of all sorts.

She merely nodded her head in response at another girl who seemed to be enjoying this far too much. "Second time round, Godric help me." Elena said before inhaling a breath and plunged forward pushing away anything that might take away from her motivation and whatnot. They stil had one final round to get through although at this point, Elena didn't even know if that would be a possiblty. It was still much too early in this competetion to get struck out, the girl had known swimming wasn't her strong area as evidenced by her sheer struggle with this excercise but maybe with a little bit of grit and determinaton, she'd be able to see her way through, her eyes focused on what was ahead of her knowing there were only so many times she could fail. The girl had to get lucky one of these times, right?

It had to soon however because she was tiring and that could be a dangerous thing in this commanding body of water that threatened to drag them underwater if they lingered too long, the best option was to keep moving and add that with a race, it certainly would be a lot of pressure and stress building up. "Eyes on the prize." She told herself using her feet to gather more momentum pushing through although with every inch she gained, it felt like the finish was getting farther and farther away yet the girl refused to be discouraged. If she failed, it wouldn't be because Elena Jangleton had simply given up and accepted defeat, that wasn't a victorious mindset although she hoped she'd be able to make up for what damage had already been done choosing not to think about the more demanding lap in front of her solely focusing on trying to make it through this one in whatever shape and form was reasonably possible.

She huffed and puffed and burned your house down! tried to complete another lap.

While Haven had been a bit more successful recently, she was starting to drag behind the others. She could easily see some of the other people who had to complete the previous lap with her now ahead. However, she was never much as a quitter. Sure, she had higher hopes for this competition, but it's not like she was going to stop now, when she was trying to get another lap in! People would be completing the swimming round soon, and she didn't want to be left behind. She quickly pulled her hat down over her head a little bit more, and just kept swimming.

For this lap, she focused on her breathing as she made her way around, because it would be a very bad thing if she forgot to breathe. Hopefully she wouldn't forget HOW to breathe, because sometimes, she was very prone to do ridiculous things like that.

Merlin and Marcus would be very sad if you drowned, Haven reminded herself as she came up for another breath. So don't do that. Just keep swimming.
She did her best to follow her own advice.

Soon, the finish line for the lap should be near. She just had to finish in time, which she really hoped would be on her side. She might just float there if she managed not to complete another lap. After this, she deserved an ice cream.

LEVEL 2
OPEN TO INTERACTIONS

Serena took off as soon as the triathlon began. She got into a decent position somewhere in the middle of all the contestants. The fourth year finished the first lap relatively quickly with no problems. She took a brief break to not tire herself out too much. Then, after taking a couple of deep breaths, the blonde girl got ready to begin the second lap.

However, it seemed as if her body had other plans. Her leg cramped up, and Serena let out a light gasp of pain. She decided that maybe she should rest for a little bit longer, at least until this cramp eased up. ‘Maybe I should have stretched my legs a bit more…’ She thought as she gently lifted her leg out of the water and tried to massage the area that was cramping, hoping it might help.

After the cramp in her leg finally eased up enough that she felt ready to swim the second lap, Serena realized that most of the contestants had already finished the second lap and were beginning the last leg of this part of the race. “Shit!” Serena whispered as she quickly got into position to take the second lap.

This time, there were only 2 people redoing Level 1. However, only Michael was able to pass the lap. Rita seemed to decide it was better to simply drop out of the game. She looked quite tired, so it was probably a good idea for her to withdraw. Kim helped her onto the boat and took her back to shore, as Michael went on to attempt Level 2.

RESULTS

Level 2 was definitely harder than Level 1. This was proven as 7 people failed Level 2 and 7 people moved on to Level 3. Whether Level 3 would be harder for them with the new added water obstacles remained to be seen. It seemed as if Serena T and Serena B were having great difficulty remaining afloat and Kim decided to keep a careful eye on them.

In the lead this time was Quentin who managed to be the first to complete the lap. He was followed by Akira who was surprisingly doing very well this time. Nessie trailed behind him a little ways off and she was followed by the duo of Elena and Santario. The 2 remaining swimmers, Aryaan and Reena were fighting to get ahead of eachother.

Probably so they could at least claim they weren't in last place.

When it came to the 7 who had failed Level 2, Haley was once again in the lead as she attempted to complete Level 2 but ended up failing her first time around. Not to worry, she still had 2 more chances before she'd be knocked out of the game. Claiming second place was Serena B and then Greta, followed closely by Haven.

The last 2 seemed to be fighting for 3rd place, so they didn't end up being last. Aurora and Florian continued to swim side by side for awhile but neither one seemed to be able to overtake the other.

Level 3's results were now out. Aly, Manuela and Charles ended up deciding to drop out of the game and Kim took them back to shore in his boat. Returning to the scene, he let his eyes flicker over the results of Level 3. This time there were 8 people who failed to complete the lap, probably due to the increasing difficulty from the added water obstacles. But on the other hand, there were 14 people who did complete Level 3 and who would now be going on to Round 2 that Pax would help him out with.

For the first time, there were 2 people competing for first place. Aurelia and Lysander were both fighting for first place and were ahead of the pack. Raphael was trailing behind the two and although he could see them up ahead, he couldn't quite catch them. Quite a bit behind him, Sara could be seen swimming all alone. Evelynn was only a short distance behind him and directly behind her was Ayako. Hadrian and Verona couldn't seem to break away from eachother and so decided to focus on catching Ayako with no success. Directly behind them, another duo composed of Romeo and Vivienne were trying to do the same thing to them. Bloom swam by herself as she tried to put more distance between herself and Angelique who wasn't far behind her. And bringing up the rear was a duo of Kit/Katherine and Howard, both of whom were trying their best not to come in last place.

The 8 people who failed the lap were doing their best to at least not come in last place. For the first time there were two trios trying to finish as quickly as possible. The first was composed of Marina, Louca and Chiaki and the second who trailed slightly behind them was composed of Rodion, Astrid and Della. Oliver swam a bit behind them and in last place Stephen could be seen struggling to catch up to the rest of the swimmers.

Reminder:
- All players need to post before the deadline.
- Deadline is around 7 days after the mod post, which is Monday August 29th.
- The word count minimum is still 200+ so make sure you meet the requirement!
- If you miss posting 2 times in a row, you are eliminated from the game.

- If you failed a level more than 2 times, your 3rd time +5 will be added for rolls.
If you still fail, then you get eliminated from the game.

- Remember, Round 2 is a different thread, so please post in Round 2 thread if you are there.
- Also since Pax is taking over modding for Round 2, they'll also be doing those of you still on earlier levels too from R1, so please post in the new thread for Round 2.

In case people didn't get what I meant in my last mod post (because my brain is not working at 100% right now), when you post again please post in the Round 2: Level 1 new thread. My tooth issue is making my brain die...
Also remember, I'll be gone from the 31st-4th with my root canal and recovery period.
But I'll be back full force with constant activity starting the 5th.
During this time, Pax will be in control of the game.
I don't believe anyone will make it to Round 3 until after I've returned.
