Closed Capture The Jolly Roger

Serena couldn’t believe just how fast the summer camp was flying by. She had had a lot of fun at all of the events, from Truth or Dare to Twirl the Flagon to the Triathalon. She had decided to get more out of her comfort zone this upcoming year and sign up for every event that she possibly could at this year’s summer camp. And now, today would be another event: Capture the Jolly Roger.

As she arrived at the location wearing a pale pink swimsuit, Serena got excited at seeing all of the different obstacles around the playing field. As a very sporty person, the fourth year was excited to hone her athletic abilities further. Checking in at a wooden platform, Serena picked up a life jacket as she listened to the explanation of the rules and different obstacles. She debated on whether she should wear the life jacket or not. The blonde girl was a fairly decent swimmer, so there was not really a need for it; plus, it would probably just slow her down, so Serena decided to go without it.

After the rules explanation was over, Serena made her way to the ship with a teal flag raised, ready to discuss with her team the best strategy to win the game. She was also looking forward to the potential of making new friends because she had not recognized anyone on her team’s list.

Once Serena reached the Teal Treasure’s ship, she quickly introduced herself. “Hi, I’m Serena! Hufflepuff from Hogwarts. Nice to meet all of you!”

As summer drew to a close, Cielle could feel all her freedom melting away to the specific kind of dread that came with the start of a new school year looming. She tried to stretch out the days somehow, to make them last longer, but nothing could stop the hands of time from ticking away.

Still, there was a lot to do at the camp. Today, for example, she'd signed up for a version of Capture the Flag. And honestly, she was pretty impressed with the set-up. Summer camp's vibe had been impeccable - like, pirates? To be completely honest, Cielle wasn't the biggest pirates fan as a kid, but the aesthetic of camp 2022 made her wish she'd been more into all that Pirates of the Carribbean stuff when she was younger.

She rocked up to the ship she'd been assigned to wearing a tight-fitting black workout set and a confident half-smile. "Hey, guys!" she said in English, taking in the group of people. Cielle was a little disappointed that she didn't recognise any of them, but she was alright with the idea of making new friends. She just hoped that none of them were insufferable bastards or totally incapable newbies. "I'm Cielle. Nice to meet you all."

Last summer Everett had signed up for something similar to Capture the Jolly Roger, it was a simple game of Capture the Flag and despite being the underdog with less members than the rest of the teams, Ilvermorny still did well. Now, much to his displeasure this team wasn't all Ilvermorny. In fact, it was dominated by Hogdorks. The only other Ilvermorny student being Olive Adair who Everett didn't know all that well. Still he would be remiss if he didn't try his best and represent Ilvermorny well. He was a captain of this team after all.

The set up was quite impressive, it seemed that Hogwarts was stepping up their game every year and Everett couldn't help but be a little jealous that they always got to run the camp. For once he wished Ilvermorny could host it so he didn't have to travel across the pond. He couldn't help but feel excited, while he wasn't necessarily a sports boy he did enjoy stretching his legs every now and again. After all he was a young boy with energy to burn (since he couldn't burn it kissing his boyfriend this summer). He walked over to where the Teal Treasures would set up and give a small wave. "Everett Brooks, Ilvermorny." Simple, easy, and he was ready to win.

Seven had only signed up for one Official Camp Activity(tm) for summer camp, and this was it. Spin the Bottle looked honestly terrifying-- people were kissing each other? On the whim of the Forces of Randomness That Be? And Seven didn't want to kiss people... nor did he want to have to tell a Truth. Or a Dare. But a spin on Capture the Flag-- that seemed okay. He was bound to meet some other people who liked climbing trees or rappelling or running fast through the woods.

First: the unsteadiness. The stadium had been transformed into a water-bearing load, with honest-to-god ships? On the smaller and simpler side, but still. Seven felt his weight shifting as the ship swayed under him, and swallowed. He knew no one on this boat, not from his tent or otherwise, but it seemed some of them knew each other-- a girl with a... European? accent and a crooked smile, Greta, had hugged another boy on his team. His team captain's name was Ronny, and Ronny was both enthusiastic and distracting-- he seemed to be, like, flexing his abs? Or were his abs just naturally Like That?

Ronnie opened the floor for discussion of strategy. Seven shuffled-- he was near the back of his teammates, by choice-- and stared at the side of Ronnie's haircut. Was he a Hogwarts student? Was it listed on the team invite which school he was from? Seven didn't want to assume Ronnie was from Castelobruxo or otherwise-- Seven had an American accent but he wasn't visiting from Ilvermorny.

Seven raised his hand and tried to ignore the warmth in his face. He didn't want to stand out, but. If he messed up and gave another team an advantage this early in the game... rather safe than sorry?

When Ronnie looked at him, he said, " Can I see the paper you're holding?"

On it, he wrote "Not sure how good other ships' hearing is. I'm gonna be a first-year and I thought it might be important to share. I don't have a lot of experience yet. And I'm an unfamiliar face. But maybe that could be an advantage somehow?"

They crossed-checked the list of names in their hand, and it seemed that most of the participants had arrived, luckily enough. Maybe the others were running late. Sorting teams to be fair had taken a while, and they'd hate for any teams to be at a disadvantage. That would make the game less fun-though an underdog story was always enjoyable to witness.

"Hello all, and thank you for signing up for Capture the Jolly Roger! I am just going to lay down a few rules for safety, and then we will move you over to your team's ship! Firstly, if you are not comfortable with swimming, then please take a life jacket. Second, only one person is allowed on an obstacle at a time to prevent crashes or sabotaging via that. If you choose to break this rule, you will be removed from the game. Third, each individual can only steal one flag at a time. If you steal more than one, you will forfeit all flags you stole. Finally, last but not least, please enjoy yourself! I will be flying above and refereeing, so if anyone is injured, I will fly them back here to be healed by our brilliant nurse."

After reading out the rules and directing everybody to their respective ships, keeping an eye out for any of the latecomers, they grasped their whistle and an enchanted megaphone to amplify their voice before mounting and flying up into the air.

"The game begins in 3...2...1! Go Capture those Flags!"

Interacting with Pink Parrots

Serena smiled, nodding her head in return, "Hey," She greeted as she heard her surname being spoken. The owner of the voice was someone she recognised. Admittedly, she did not know her well but she had seen her around over the years from watching far too many Quidditch games, occasionally in the Headliner office or just recognised her as one of the prefects. Even if Serena had stopped playing the sport and switched to Broom Racing as of late, she always tried to support Hufflepuff in their games.

Before they started, Serena found the designated pet area on the ship - a place where Pizza would be safe from accidentally getting hurt with children running around everywhere. Picking him off her shoulder, she placed him down carefully and leaned down a little as she pulled out a little tomato that she had for him and left it for him to eat, "Stay here for me alright?" She said softly as she stroked the top of his head. He would be safe there - and if he wasn't, she would call for him. After everything he had been through, though, she was pretty confident in his ability to stay safe without her watching over him constantly. That was the only reason she let him come out with her all the time.

Heading back to the group, she turned her attention to the game. The game was going to start soon so, she paused for a moment to check her shoelaces to make sure they were not about to come loose. During this time, she also adjusted her wand that was safely in her wand holder. Not that she planned to use it but she also did not want to drop it somewhere in an obstacle or worse, in some water or something and then struggle to find it afterwards. Once she had checked on her own gear, she quickly scanned the others to make sure they weren't about to start running with loose shoelaces. If they was anything out of place, she'd politely let them know. This was also when she did a quick scan to make sure everyone was uninjured. Her days as a healer intern were really paying off.

"Everyone ready? Do we have a game plan here or is it just 'let's kick butt'?" She joked softly, pondering on what she could do to help. There appeared to be a number of different teams, all with their own ships and flags. This was going to become chaotic, with everyone running everywhere in an attempt to capture the flags. Her gaze moved to find the Golden Flag, wondering how to get there. Perhaps it was just the fact that it was golden and her former seeker brain instantly recognised it as something to want to catch but she had to, at the very least, figure out where it was.

Ugh- Edward took off his pants he was wearing, as he wore his swim wear underneath- (don't worry, underwear is underneath the swim wear.) Tatsu >:|

He took a look at his teammates, and smiled. "Alright, happy everyone is here." He smiled, then tried to pursue an English accent, probably failing tremendously. He regretted wearing what his mom sent him, but he had to wear these at least once. He wore swim briefs, the design on it being a gradient of pink at the top and it fading to yellow at the bottom. Who the hell made those? He took off his shirt as it dragged his swimming down. He would save his square leg swimwear for the next time he has to deal with water. But he must prove that he was grateful for what was given to him.

He tried to muster a look of being proud and confident but secretly felt very unconfident inside, he really hoped he wasn't being judged.

He walked towards the edge of the ship looking over. He really hoped he didn't fall into the water- he was already so high up- not to mention the dare he had by a mean hogwarts student was to jump off a ship- that was horrid.

"Are we ready to play?" Edward said in his best english accent- which was horrid by the way.

He tried to think of what else to say- but couldn't- so he walked up to them, hoping to form a huddle and whispered. What he whispered was the plan.
