The Gryffindor Table 2022-2023
Taking slow and paced steps, Dior gradually made his way over to the table under the giant red and gold banners. His heartbeat on the other hand was racing and getting even faster as he got closer.
Dior wouldn't think of himself as a nervous person, but there was a sense of excitement and foreboding knowing that these would be the people he would be growing up with, and spending most of his time with from now on.
Close to the table, Dior looked around for a place to sit and noticed a somewhat empty spot next to a brown-haired boy. Observing for a moment Dior noticed that he was speaking with a darker-haired boy and two girls. Before they were sorted Dior recalled having seen the two boys but only one of the girls, so it can be assumed that she wasn't a first year like the rest of them.
Ugh, how even more nerve-racking she probably doesn't even want to be bothered by a bunch of first years. Though looking again she doesn't seem to be too bothered with having to talk to the others already there...fine he'll just go up there and introduce himself. Thinking about it any longer will only psyche himself out.
Dior breathed in and out deeply before marching up to the table where they were and sputtering out quickly, "H-hello. Do any of you mind if I sit here?" He had only heard the tail end of what the brown-haired boy was saying and knew he was interrupting a conversation but, honestly if he didn't go up just then he probably would have just stood there waiting for the right time forever.

"Well, you see, not many of us differentiate between students. There are some typical ones who do differentiate but the best you can do is ignore them." Audrey reassured him. Sometimes she too feels annoyed watching others distinguish between each other by blood type. It was quite foolish to do so, because after that only hatred is formed, nothing else.
As Finn was saying he did like to make ghosts his friends, Audrey giggled a bit, but soon stopped when he said he wanted to scare a boy.
"And, why in the whole world do you think that he deserves it? I mean, did he do something wrong?"
Audrey looked towards the Hufflepuff table, where Finn was looking. That boy was from Hufflepuff? She never knew Hufflepuff students can do something wrong that others will hate.
Audrey was in utter confusion. As she was going to say one more thing, a boy of her age came up and stuttered while asking for permission to sit.
Audrey smiled. He must be a first year, she thought and said, "Sure." She wasn't having any other words to say because she literally wanted to eat her breakfast
Audrey took helpings of every dish possible and started eating it. Not to make others feel that she's neglecting them, she said, "You guys can also start eating. Our classes will start soon."

(sorry for the ugly post- very rushed)She didn't even realize it- but the first years had multiplied. Soon there was another kid- than another one? Oh- and another one. Reena opened her mouth to speak but simply could not- because everyone was talking at once. She shut her mouth and began to eat some more, letting the first years carry on with their conversation. "Best friends with ghosts?" She asked, interrupting the boy. She turned to him. "I mean, I guess you could- but that'd be a bit hard, don't you think? To become friends with a ghost?" Most of the ghosts were very nice, but they weren't people you considered friends easily. "The gryffindor ghost is friendly I suppose." She added as an after thought. She let the first years continue talking.
The girl named Audrey turned back to her and spoke. "I don't- I don't ignore others." She said defensively. "I'm acting friendly! I'm listening to you guys! You're talking about- well- you WERE talking about ghosts or something." Reena was totally paying attention. She wasn't ignoring them, right? "Well I just- I guess I'm a bit tired. That's all." She lied. Reena didn't sleep much. She liked to stay up reading or painting instead.
She looked at Finn. "Why should you get a ghost to scare George for you when you could do it on your own? besides, the fat friar is not scary at all. " Reena didn't know george personally, but she's heard a bit about him. "I don't think it would be easy to scare George Henry anyways, from what I've heard- he's a bit of a wacko." She widened her eyes and shrugged.
The last boy to come didn't sit all on his own, instead he asked. Reena glanced at him- but Audrey spoke up. Sure, whatever- just more first years with questions. Reena fell silent again and let the rest of the first years continue to talk.

“If you can’t get the fat friar to scare George Henry let’s just go up to him during our free time and punch him in the nose. We should probably go to class now. What class do we have first?” said Terry as he was munching on the last bit of his toast on his plate. “Reena can you show us around the castle a bit because I almost got lost coming to the great hall.” He asked Reena. Terry had just briefly looked at the different corridors and there was no way he was going to remember the different rooms and the different classrooms in the castle. He was pretty sure that there was also other classrooms in the castle which made it even more confusing.
“So Reena tell me about the different teachers at Hogwarts. Not to be irritating but your the only person we know that are not a first year.” I would also like to know which teachers are strict and which teachers are nice.” asked Terry curiously. It was true, he had been in trouble before at school and it was mostly the strict teachers that got him in trouble or it was his half brother that ratted him out.

Finnegan looked up to the new boy with the dark green eyes and highlights in his hair @Dior Verdoux. He thought he had caught a glimpse of him during the sorting ceremony, though he couldn't be quite sure. Between bites, he scooted over a little to make room for the boy at the table. Did he mind? "Cwourse nwot," he said with his mouth full and patted the spot next to him for the boy to sit down.
Turning his attention back to @Audrey Amanda, Finnegan noticed her giggling before her expression suddenly changed. Did @George Henry do something wrong? Well, that depended entirely on your definition of wrong of course. There was no way on earth however he was going to tell Audrey, or anyone else at the table that he'd been slapped in the face with a bouquet of flowers by the 4th year Hufflepuff. Contrary to George Henry, he had some self-respect at least. "He wrote me a letter to tell me I'm a tosser because I didn't get in Hufflepuff, does that count as being wrong? I think it does."
Of course, Audrey wasn't the only one who had opinions on his budding friendship with the Fat Friar. The older girl with the curly hair @Reena Delgado at least didn't give him a berating kind of look for his brilliant plans. "I don't see the problem," he replied. "If the ghosts don't like me, I'm sure they'll let me know, they're quite transparent."
It was the second part of her question that made him drop his spoon and finally stop eating altogether. "I don't think he's a wacko, he's colorful, he's just... well, George," Finnegan said. There really was no other way to summarise attitude of the older Hufflepuff that he could think of. "Look, all the Fat Friar has to do is appear when George doesn't expect it, like when he goes to sleep or something and unless you know the password to the Hufflepuff common room, I don't think I can do it myself. Besides, I don't think I'm that scary..."
It was the black-haired boy @Terry Stevenson that made him nearly choke on his pumpkin juice. "What? Punch him?". He had half a mind to actually encourage Terry to try it just to see what would happen but ultimately thought better of it. "I wouldn't try that, he's a fourth year you know, he can probably transfigure you into a frog if he wants to."
Speaking of frogs...
"Oh that reminds me!" he rummaged around the pockets of his robes for a bit and pulled out four brand new chocolate frogs. Having already tasted a few himself, he could hardly think of a better way to make quick friends than bribery. Clearing his throat and trying very hard not to break into a stupid grin Finnegan announced, "I happened to have come upon a sizeable collection of chocolate frogs that fell of the wagon so to speak. If you want more, just send me an owl, they go for 2 sickles and 10 knuts but these ones are on the house." His prices were more expensive than Honeydukes, but that was the premium they'd pay for not having to try and get into Hogsmeade themselves. "Don't forget to tell your friends," he smiled as he handed each of them a chocolate frog. @Audrey Amanda, @Terry Stevenson, @Reena Delgado, @Dior Verdoux
Finally he returned to finishing up his plate and let the others do the talking before he got himself a sore throat.

You've all been given a Chocolate Frog in your accounts!
If you're a first year you can't send money. However, you can still get chocolate frogs if you help spread the word about Finn's secret chocolate shop. Here is how:
If you're a second year (looking at you Reena) and want another chocolate frog, you're going to have to pay up. The price is 2 sickles and 10 knuts for one chocolate frog. If you want to get more (5 or 10) a bulk discount can be negotiated.
Depending on your personal preference you can send an IC or OOC owl

While I do enjoy basking in attention, Finn will leave the table after my next reply, it's getting a little bit chaotic with so many people and I want to make sure other characters can also get some attention and have the conversations they want. You're all lovely people and I've really enjoyed writing this with you so far

Regina sat next to her childhood best friend Kim, staying attentive as the Headmaster delivered the same welcoming speech just as always and politely clapping whenever a new student was sorted into the Lion House. It was a bit nostalgic, a bittersweet memory Regina would rather avoid thinking about when it came to her own sorting two years ago. Perhaps the Hat ended up being right - she fitted Gryffindor much better than among Snakes.
As the Great Hall bustled with all the noise and excitement (and very loud, unruly screaming across the Slytherin and Ravenclaw tables, courtesy of one Colin McCoire and Sophia Nelson), Regina's orchid eyes glanced to Kim very so often, brows furrowing at the reclusive expression on his face. He'd been like this on the Express, strangely quiet and only talking when spoken to. It was so incredibly out of character that even someone who always had her emotions composed like Regina was surprised. It was only natural for her to be curious, if not more concerned, of her friend's behaviour. Kim had seemed just fine when they were still in summer camp. Regina knew little things that could ever dampen Kim's mood like this.
"Is everything all right, Kiki?" She leaned in close, speaking in a low voice as to keep their conversation private. Whatever it was, it would do no good for other people to listen in on them. "I cannot help but notice you've been acting odd since we boarded the train."
Regina was positive Kim would confide in her if he was comfortable enough to share. They were very close, and never lied to each other. But of course, she wouldn't push him should he felt the need to process alone.

The Gryffindor Table 2022-2023
A note about Alec's appearance: his lips look strangely off color, darker
He was back. A new school year, he was here and back at it again. Only Merlin knew how Alec had survived through another summer, conflicting feelings of love and hate all tangled and merged into one. The correct mental image here would have been a hair ball from a shower drain. It was an ever so disgusting mental image but the only proper one he could think to describe home life and the messy situation that it was. Alec's impromptu trip to Cokesworth was both the best and worst thing he had done that summer, his selfish reasons for the impromptu trip weighed to exactly the same as the ones his own personal gain, and instead took into account was what better for the young girl entrusted into his care. The young girl entrusted to his case. To think Alec thought the more he replayed the sentence in his mind the more at ease he would become, slowly becoming comfortable with it. It got worse each time. Who thought it was a good idea to leave him alone with Jackie?! Alec was fourteen, he was foolishly confident and even he knew better than that! See the more Alec learned, the more he realized just how much he didn't know. He wasn't prepared to take care of a small living creature! He could scarcely take care of himself. Being left with her alone for more than twenty-four hours made him already question the judgement of the people in charge. It had been much longer than twenty-four hours.
Hey, Alec was back at Hogwarts now, away from any kind of responsibility... Except for you know, 'not being a disappointment' whatever that meant. He had already done it once with the whole getting into Gryffindor stunt, you couldn't go much further in the wrong direction at that point. Not to worry, he wouldn't be a disappointment, this year was going to be his best year yet. Maybe he'd be able to round up Oaksworth(@Leonard Oaksworth), people called him Leo for a reason, Alec needed to help him release his inner lion. People called him Leo because it was shorter than Leonard, still, it didn't sound as cool when you explained it up front. Rounding up Oaksworth meant they could try pulling their biggest prank, beating what they already had, or at least it would be there most elaborate considering the stunts they had tried to pill in the past. The thoughts swirled and focused coming to a close as the sorting process had begun. It was a tedious, tiring, and time-consuming process, eventually however, the sorting ceremony had come to an end and it was time to eat.
An active and growing teenage boy such as himself needed to eat, he filled his plate plenty full of fair helpings of each food at the table. He knew he could each this much when he was going to burn the calories just as fast. Besides, this once he was going to let himself indulge. Alec scarfed down the food, stuffing his face as he listened to ongoing conversations at the table. He half-listened up until the point @George Henry was mentioned, Alec had noticed a fair few familiar voices, one of fair note in this case would have been @Finnegan Conner, there was of course another(@Reena Delgado), “he's not a wacko. You're a Gryffindor, don't you have something better to do with your time than sit and gossip?” Words like that were going to trigger him to speak up. A venom-filled tone whether or not he personally knew who it was they were talking about. Alec had been victim to a lot of gossip after he became friends with Starkey, it wasn't nice to be on the receiving on, even if you think a person can't here you.
At the suggestion of punching George(from @Terry Stevenson), Alec's jaw would set. He let Finnegan take a turn speaking hoping the he would have something reasonable to say alas Alec would be mistaken. His facial expressions matched those of a disappointed parent as he looked at Finnegan. Alec would have to be the voice of reason here, you really cold not even joke about that kind of stuff. “Stop being a brute, you'll find out really quickly how far that gets you on day two.” His voice was gruff as he turned his head to look over at Terry. Alec's lips formed into a thin frown. They were kids. They were unable to understand how cruel the world was. He had memories engraved into his brain that they could never begin to imagine. Violence should never be taken lightly. “If you dare lay a hand, or point your wand at anyone with the intent to harm them; George Henry or otherwise: I will personally see to it that you regret each every second within your lifetime leading up to such an action.” Too intense? Perhaps a little... Sometimes it was what you need to scare people into place, to keep them from making an idiotic decision. Alec thought it was impossible, here he was for the first time in his lifetime giving someone that one 'serious' look with a mixture of a glare involved. Someone had to scare him in place, it wasn't right to go around punching people. He knew that from Henry Knight's punch-happy fist. Alec would chuckle the craziness of the situation, “now put your punching first down and eat,” he felt like patting the other kid on the head like a puppy. 'Good little violence hungry brute', the thought was laughable.
(I would have Alec interact more but one person doesn't have an account anymore, and another has pretty much gone inactive sooo I think it's useless sort of continuing and adding more than that there..)
Alec turned his head from rowdy first-years, scanning the table and taking a good look around. Smirking as he spotted @Regina Miler. Alec would reach for an apple off of the table, biting into it as he made his way over. His presence would be announced with a confident, “oi Miller! How was summer?” They were somewhat familiar, they knew each other from duelling. However, they certainly weren't familiar enough to have him be approaching her and asking about her summer. Alec was faking being an extrovert, he thought he took to the role well. Alec would sit at the nearest open seat. Hearing the end of some unintelligible whispering Alec realized he may have been interrupting something. It would take him a few minutes longer than usual to notice presence of one @Kim Sato. When he noticed Kim, Alec had to do a double-take, had it really taken him this long to notice the other? “You're awfully quiet this evening, starry eyes.” Alec spoke, speaking to Kim, his tone would be softer than usual. He wasn't going to start a mess on day one.

Before she could hear Kim's answer, a third person had casually inserted their presence into their bubble with a rather enthusiastic greeting directed at Regina. The raven-haired witch straightened her back and shifted her attention to the older Gryffindor with a carefully blank expression. Her and Alec Mason had not once interacted outside of the Duelling Club, and even then it was only when the team was gathered to talk strategies. It was odd, indeed, to see the boy asking her about summer as though they were friends, but nonetheless she humoured him with a short, polite answer.
"Quite all right, Mason. Summer camp can be very eventful, one might say."
The way Mason's demeanor changed when he addressed Kim did not go unnoticed by her sharp, observant purple eyes. She stared eerily at their exchange in silence, not wanting to interrupt in the case her friend felt comfortable enough to share. She was unaware that Mason and Kim were on friendly terms, but those were details. Being in different years, Regina didn't really keep track of who the younger boy had met over the course of his first year.
Just then, a loud commotion occurred over at the Ravenclaw table. Regina's head whipped forward when an ear-shattering smash of a plate being broken rang across the hall, eyes widening slightly at the sight of Nelson from summer camp drenched in food. She was even more shocked as the blue-haired girl retaliated with a (missed) spell that looked suspiciously like the Knockback Jinx, before smearing mashed potatoes all over a blond girl with a familiar face.
"What in Merlin's name...!" The words rushed out of her lips in a bewildered whisper. She recognised instantly a face she hadn't seen in two months - the face which belonged to a girl who held Regina's heart. Never before had she seen Faye's features twisted viciously so. She stood up audaciously on the bench, startling all the other Ravenclaws near her and shouted something incoherent that Regina failed to hear over the gaggle of surprised and noisy students.
And then red sparks lit up the Great Hall after Faye pointed her wand at Nelson.

ㅤ──────────────────────| ── | Kim had been distracted for awhile. But it was more than just distraction. It was hard to explain and even harder to feel and Kim's mind was spinning. He still didn't understand what it meant. Or rather what he was feeling, wait was he even feeling something about this? Once again, his mind started to spin around in circles getting him nowhere. Kim was so lost in his thoughts that nothing anyone said or did around him got through to him. That is, until Regina called him by his nickname that only she knew and was allowed to use, and he blinked. A chill ran down his spine and goosebumps rose onto his skin. What was this? It wasn't normal and he frowned. For some reason, it seemed to be coming directly from Gia. Ah, this must be what she'd referred to as her 'terrible presence'. They'd talked about it before, although Kim hadn't experienced the feeling until now. Wait, what had she said to him? Before he could ask her to repeat her question, someone inserted themselves into their conversation. Someone very familiar. Lovely, it was Nuisance. A sigh escaped his lips as he turned his head away from Alec but then returned his attention to him. Why should he turn away? Alec was the one interrupting his and Gia's conversation! Luckily, it seemed as if Alec hadn't noticed him. That is, until he did and Kim raised a brow at him. What the hell had that expression been?! Did Alec not expect to see him? Did he forget he was a Gryffindor too? Oddly enough, Alec's tone was softer than usual though when it came to him. Kim wasn't entirely sure how to feel about that and shifted in his seat. Whether it was because of Regina's Terrible Presence or because of Alec's 'presence' remained to be seen. "Eh, no more than usual, Nuisance." Kim replied back to him, glad for a chance to get his mind away from Felix. He let his blue eyes flicker over Alec for a moment. "What's with that double take earlier? Did you not expect to see me here?" The boy asked with an arched brow, a bit curious. It was around this time that the Ravenclaw table erupted in chaos. Kim looked over at the table at the same time that Regina did and was just in time to see Sophia drenched in food and Faye with an out of character look on her face. What on earth was going on over there? As Faye pointed her wand at Sophia and red sparks shot out, Kim's eyes widened and he stared at the two. What was happening and why were those two fighting eachother? Part of him wanted to go and stop this but another part restrained himself, after all this seemed to be their battle. Theirs alone. ────────────────────── ㅤ ㅤ──────────────────────

The Gryffindor Table 2022-2023
The response was expected, Regina was somewhat easy to puzzle out, though have been the average and most expected response from everybody. Alec couldn't tell, nor did he want to spend the time to be able tell and figure it out. 'Eventful, one might say.' He nodded, however it seemed his opinion on the matter strangely differed, despite his nodding. “It's really not as eventful as one might expect.” When could it be as eventful as one might expect? There were fast and slow periods all together. Alec was thankful to be back at Hogwarts with the routine and stability in such a place.
Kim liked to make himself known, feeling calling Alec a nuisance was more than necessary, Alec rolled his eyes in turn, of course. Still, he wouldn't be the one dragged into this routine. It was annoying honestly. “How kind, I compliment your eyes and you call me a nuisance,” Kim was an overflowing fountain of kindness or compliments. Never a word of sarcasm out of the other's mouth, none whatsoever.
Kim would inquire about Alec having to glance back and Alec snorted in response. He would sigh and shake his head smirking slightly, “must you make me repeat myself?” It wouldn't have been that much work to go about repeating himself, Alec would take another bite in his apple, swallowing it before he even considered speaking again. Kim was practically invisible when he was silent. Kim being a ghost wasn't Alec's fault. “You're awfully quiet this evening, starry eyes~ Usually I can hear you and spot you in an instant.” The answer was yes and no. He'd expected Kim at the table, he was a Gryffindor, he just hadn't expected Kim here. Which when you though about it, it wasn't any better.
The Ravenclaw table seemed to be looking for the best of ways to start out the evening, Alec didn't blame them. Chaos seemed to be deep in every Ravenclaw's veins, out of all the Ravenclaws he had over met, they were always so unique, they were crazy, most of the time it was crazy in the good way. Alec broke into a bout of laughter, in reaction to it all. “Damn, I'm more boring than the Ravenclaws.” He knew he had an aim to avoid starting anything tonight. He'd gotten this far, put in this much effort, he may as well continue with it, he couldn't give up and make all the time he spent trying to keep some peace tonight worth it.
